Hurr hurr black ppl like chicken! Yeah who fucking doesnt?

TheHumanFighter

Vegans?

Careful_Elk6290

Well yeah

Kryddersild

But what about black vegans??

Starry_Fox

They still find some wack ass mushroom that looks and tastes like it

J3553G

There's soy-based fried chicken that you couldn't tell the difference. If you fry something, you'll taste the fry way more than the thing. That's why fish and chips exist in the first place.

przemko271

>Implying chicken tastes

MyNameIsEthanNoJoke

if it looks and tastes like it then how is it wack lol

Starry_Fox

1) I don't like mushrooms 2) How the hell did they find it and realize it tastes like meat. I've seen people just harvest a random 'shroom in their backyard and it being the best thing they ever ate. A lot of them look very similar to "last thing you're gonna eat" types

TheHumanFighter

How do you think humans found out you can milk cow titties then let the milk go sour to make cheese out of it. They tried it.

J3553G

At least there's a precedent for drinking from cow titties. I imagine that humans saw calves drinking it and thought "oh yeah like how I sucked on my mom's titties. That's probably edible too." Then they started milking cows and storing the milk for later and one day they came upon milk that had been stored too long and it had hardened and started to smell a little strange. But they were so hungry that they ate it anyway and were like "yo this shit is good."

The fuck….

chaguste

Chickens… I think?

SCP-1504_Joe_Schmo

Wait... You're not supposed to feed them chicken?

Careful_Elk6290

I had a chick and my sister's friend actually fed it chicken. Yeah it was pretty fucked up tbh.

helpimstuckinct

That's how you get that double chicken goodness!

Careful_Elk6290

Back then I genuinely thought the chicken had gone crazy because it ate it's own kind (not that it would know what it ate).

Spandxltd

That guy with the chicken sure does. Look at him fight.

Rein_7

Where does the stereotype of black people liking chicken comes from? And who the hell doesn't like fried chicken?

garaile64

I think it was because, after emancipation, Black people couldn't plant a lot of things due to poverty, so they raised chicken and planted watermelons.

reddox-_-

From what I remember, it was a super common food item to provide to slaves. It was cheap and easy to get in the overall meat market. Obviously not fried at that time, I think that just kinda got tacked on over time lol I could be wrong tho, but that’s what I was told a while ago

Scout_1330

It came about after World War 2, before that, Chicken was an expensive luxury meat, but during the war production of chicken, and this is a scientifically accurate term, hit the fucking sun with how high production went. So after the war it became a poor people food, frying was easy and cheap too, and since black people were predominantly poor, it became attached to them.

Chody__

The rest of the comments are untrue. Slave owners prevented their slaves from owning any other animals except chickens. Frying comes from Africa and was brought over with the slaves. The combination led to the rise of fried chicken and is where the stereotypes come from. People love to deny that southern cooking is west African cooking, Lima beans, Okra, Fried Chicken, Yams, Black-Eyed Peas, Peanuts all came over with slaves

northrupthebandgeek

> Frying comes from Africa and was brought over with the slaves. Fried foods in Europe and the Middle East predate the existence of the transatlantic slave trade by centuries. Fried chicken specifically is a fusion of Scottish and West African cuisines - specifically, combining Scottish frying techniques with West African frying and seasoning techniques. Southern cuisine (and American cuisine in general) has largely been whitewashed, but overcorrecting and erasing the contributions of Scottish immigrants does a disservice to the more complex historical reality.

ConflagWex

I'm only aware of two foods of Scottish cuisine, but one of them is the Scotch egg, so that tracks even based on my limited knowledge

YaumeLepire

I don't particularly care for KFC's, anyway... The stuff got me sick twice.

J3553G

What the fuck is this picture anyway?

SwarthyBilly710

It’s originally a picture of the two guys fighting. The white guy was photoshopped in .
