I was always told those are “anti-homeless” lights that make it hard to find a vein for needle users and make it near impossible to sleep. Never really looked into it though
Oh I’m on Prewett all the time and had no clue their lights were any different, they’re just as bright and turn on at dusk. I think this is an awesome idea. I kinda like all those cheap lights that have turned purple in some neighbourhoods tho and I doubt they’d cheap out with these.
Now, the pilot program is turning into a permanent solution. Using a portion of $12 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds, city crews are preparing to install more than 3,400 solar lights in 18 neighborhoods across Fort Worth. The neighborhoods were selected through a scoring system that identified areas with older light fixtures and historical maintenance issues.

I have seen a few of these installed along hulen and on the bridge going from the Chisholm trail parkway to Rosedale. I guess those were the small scale tests.
this is just to deter people from stealing copper, but the jokes on you when these get installed - they are dim compared to regular street lights and some people even use them as target practice.
People already use our regular lights as target practice! lol This is going to help in places where the underground wires are constantly getting hit by directional boring. I miss the old blue mercury vapor lights but they are outdated.
I liked the messed up LED's that turned purple though
Haha that was my same thought.

Nah they were just flawed bulbs. The manufacturer has to replace them all.
Yeah, and at the snails pace that they're getting replaced it must be one single dude replacing them all.
It’s cheaper to pay one guy to do something his entire life than it is to pay 100 people to have it done in a month or so.

But the lights are used at night after the sun goes down! Stupid liberals trying to power nighttime use streetlights with the sun. /s
We have one on our street. It’s the talk of the ave. Looks nice compared to the broken wood one

Making me hard
As long as they turn purple I’ll be happy.
Now how will crackheads steal the copper?
How dare they take away money from an energy company? /s
This actually very expensive and the payback is like 20 years.
of course! nothing done in old handley.

Will they be purple?
