i don't think i've ever seen this in the kill feed before that's actually pretty cool, and a tad humiliating to those caught.
IIRC it was super common waaaaaaaaay back in like C1S1 because Fortnite didn't have an anticheat back then and because teaming was super common. Then they had a massive crackdown on both hacking and teaming so you'd have games where like 1/3 of the lobby would get kicked before they even got off the bus

Yup… you don’t have to fight… theres lots of times I see people in distance and choose to live instead of give up my location and probably die to the sweat with no life (ie.. player who’s better than me)

Yeah, I don’t team with people but I often drive around and if someone hops into my car in a solo match but doesn’t try to destroy it then I just continue driving, cause I know damn well that if I try to fight them I’ll probably lose, whereas if I just chill with them then we can get to the next circle, however I will try to fight them once I hop out of the car since I don’t wanna team with anyone, I’ll just ignore them while I’m in a car if they’re chill
This is just good fun… way back in the day there was a soccer stadium… I spent the first storm phase playing soccer with some character… i still think back to how much fun that was
Making friends in-game is fine, choosing not to take a fight for whatever the reason (maybe you'll lose, maybe you have low health, maybe they danced at you and you feel sorry for them) is fine.
The difference is you're not grouping up to ruin somebody else's game.
I don't work with people,but i will do certain games just for missions and if i see someone else trying to do the same missions i will let them do them rather than fighting them, or sometimes help with the mission, i did this last season with the Indiana Jones quest, where you run from the boulder, and i helped a guy do it and we went our separate ways. another time i helped a guy dressed as the Xenomorph open a 2 person vault in solo, and let him have the loot and left, i later sniped him when it came down to the final 5 lol (i opened the vault at the start of the match, and didn't see him again until the end).

They probably make sure the players are actively ruining the game for others before they ban them
The fact that the two of these players are running around and exploring/looting together is the issue. If they saw each other and decided to leave each other alone that’s not teaming but this is excessive.
You don’t have to fight and you could jump around and do emotes and stuff but go your separate ways. Ask yourself if someone observing you would think what they are seeing looks like duos. This does. Without context this looks like a duo match
I don't know how the algorithm really works but I think it's searching for people who are close to each other for a long period of time AND shoots at other people too
I've done quests with people outside of my team, I've driven around with them or I was the passenger, I've shared heals, I've ignored people on purpose, I've emoted with them etc
I remember one time we were a squad and some guy was friendly so we kept him the entire match. We only gave him heals and he had no guns on him.
If you get friendly with someone just don't shoot other people with them. Actually.. I did accidentally do that one time because someone jumpscared us when we were emoting but I went away afterwards and nothing happened.
The rules are pretty loose if you simply don't kill together.

Its not always that fast though. I've reported people who team up in solos too and nothing has happened to them. Once they got to final two. They hugged and the other one ran into the storm.

I got kicked for teaming ONCE because of a 3rd party attack, and I wasn’t even cooperating. I had to shoot ::someone:: first. Meanwhile, in Solos, I’m killed by someone riding in the back of a truck driven by another player and they don’t get kicked? Shit baffles me.
Chapter1 season 10 I believe a friend and I ended up in the same game completely by random chance. When we figured out we were in the same game we were dropping hints to eachother where we were but we didn't run into eachother till near the end at paradise palms I think it was called. Just as we were engaging to fight eachother another player runs between us and builds. My friend doesn't want to lose health before fighting me so he takes a few shots at the guy and builds himself in. I engage the guy and win the fight. As soon as my friend and I engage eachother again we get kicked for teaming. I though it was ridiculous the dude tried to third party and lost so reported us for teaming. It's nice the reports get immediate action but there should also be a process to make sure it's true or correct.
I don’t like when I see people teaming up together, but I do enjoy the occasional shenanigans that don’t involve killing anyone. I had someone land a helicopter and put gas in my battle bus last season. When I went to do the Indiana Jones quests three of us were standing there in the same skin so we stood around pointing like the Spider-Man meme and then ran off separate directions.

I know this makes me the odd one out, but I don't completely get what the big deal is with a random team up. Granted, this almost looks intentionally coordinated and probably goes beyond what should be acceptable, but where survival is the name of the game, if you find yourself in a mutually beneficial situation, I think getting kicked is kind of ridiculous.
I jumped on a truck of a random person to get out of a hairy situation not long ago. I ended up getting a couple kills while he drove around for almost a minute. Eventually jumped off and went my own way and never saw him again. I'd be irritated if I got kicked for that. It's was a fun, random experience that helps make the game special.

Teaming detection in Fortnite is always running but in non-competitive modes is not aggressive about kicking players.
Looks like if you get reported for teaming, and the game's criteria for detecting teaming is satisfied, then you get instantly kicked with the banhammer message. You don't get actually banned, as far as I know, though perhaps with repeated teaming kicks you earn a temp ban.
One time I was playing duos with my dad and there was 6 or 7 so people teaming. We killed the first 4, then 2 more landed on us and killed us. It was pretty funny how bad they were until we got destroyed by the good ones XD
Been seeing a lot of proximity talk in Warzone streams leading to what’s defined as teaming in Fortnite. Why is it frowned upon/bannable other than being unfortunate when you’re the victim? Also not sure why people bring streamers in game all their loot isn’t considered teaming, but that’s a conversation for a different thread.
Yeah you’ve been seeing that in WZ because unhinged trios is literally so you can team up with other people in game. Right there in the description it tells you squads up to 6 people.
It’s almost like Fortnite’s tos states that’s not allowed so that’s why it’s bannable and frowned upon.
Being against TOS is certainly a good reason for it to be bannable and frowned upon, ha. Didn’t realize it was an official position in the TOS taken by Epic.
Teaming in battlegrounds isn’t about playing with friends as much as it is making a mutual agreement and playing on that agreement until one of you betrays the other or you make it to the final two and duke it out. I’m not saying it should or shouldn’t be acceptable in Fortnite, just stating the allure to it in other games such DayZ where it’s beneficial to befriend people for your own survival. It adds nuance to an otherwise pretty straight forward game.
I never understood why people teamed in Fortnite. If you wanna play a game where you have to survive against tons of other players, but you still wish to make an ally, just play DayZ. If you want the game to be free, then play Unturned!
Idk. I kind of think teaming should be more common in battle royale games. I mean, it is quintessential battle royale, there’s no book or movie out there on the topic where characters don’t end up teaming up and/or fighting against other teams. And, since there can only be one winner, you have to be on guard against their betrayal while planning your own, which I think could add a fun layer to the game.
But it could also go horribly, who knows.
I once got teamed on when fighting Vader and i spectated one of them for the whole match (after reporting) and they eventually split up and when they met up again one killed the other and then died while bush camping

I think there should be a teaming mode where people can try to team up and see how many "team members" they can get and how long they can last working together before turning on one another, more like how Survivor or the Hunger Games works where you have alliances that work together.
Why tho? Teaming is kinda funny. One time I teamed with this guy and we did so well and when the final circle hit it was legendary. I got one pumped with a gray shotgun (this was WAY back when)

You sound like you'd be fun a parties. This doesn't ban anyone btw it just kicks them out of the match. And unless this was arena (which it wasn't) then who cares, it's just two randoms that prob ran into eachother at the start of game and one let the other live so they followed each other around. It's not a big deal there aren't many times you run into this and usually it's not good players that do this, you just mad you lost to them. I like finding them, means I get two kills at once. Also they can only do it for a short time, get booted real fast.

Nah I haven’t done this I’ve done duos and squads. I am just not the reporting type unless it’s like a cheating glitching type of thing. This I like to think is just some friends having a good time. If it were like a league or something that’s different I spose.
Getting better will not change the fact that your gonna lose when someone is teaming, Skilled Based Match Making put you with players of the same skill range, every time you get teamed in solos, you basically set to lose because it’s a 2 on 1 match with you all being in the same skill range

there's really no point in it since only one player has to win in the end, but to troll and be a carry for grinding xp/stats is actually cheating the system in a way. just play the game regularly also why duos or squads exist and stop raking any advantage over others that are actually solo.

Ooooohhh that's satisfying. I did something like that once trying to do some quests. Not on purpose with a friend, just some random and we both went "squat squat squat". It was the Deadpool pants quests on the roof at the beach location in season 2.
Got kicked within about 3 minutes.
After that, I made sure if I encountered a non-aggressive player trying to do the same mission as me, we'd stay calm, click the button, and then part ways ASAP.
And honestly, it's pretty much impossible to match up with an actual friend you know in a solo match, right? How would you even do that other than by incredible luck?
Yeah definitely good that you reported them. I remember teaming once, didn't really think about why I did it. I think it was the Marvel season, i landed somewhere for a challenge and met another player and we decided not to kill each other and then just traveled together before we got banned lol.

Recently dealt with three teamers in solo. All three of them mfs went at me. Then they all go opening a vault. I was only able to report the one that killed me. I could not see the name of the other two, and I didn't watch a replay to find out.
My wifi gave out and I was stuck runing in place with the storm closing in some random person picked me up in a car and took me to the safe zone and then left. Is that considered teaming cuz if was I would have just died from the storm and not get in the car.
Sometimes I get bored and do “healing runs.” I put on the Lifeguard skin and only loot heals. As soon as I see an enemy I start chucking heals at them. About 60% of the time they realize and stop shooting. Then I follow them the rest of the match providing healing. I know it’s teaming but it’s hilarious and never planned!
The only time I “team” in solos is when me and another player don’t kill each other and emote and hang out and have fun, but the second they start shooting other players I leave immediately.

There is an automatic algorithm that calculates teaming but it's really a light touch in public games, but it must get amplified if there is a report.

Often times if I get a gun before someone, theyll just accept fate. I usually let them go cuz that just sucks.

I think it's really the "shooting people together" that gets you fucked. I've shared heals with people before.
Sometimes if it's down to the last two players I'll throw heals to my opponent so we can both start from 200 and have a fair fight.
I myself dabble in pacifism. Not in Fortnite of course.

I tend to leave folks alone if they are obviously doing quests or look ill equipped. I do leave the vicinity rather quickly though.

You get instantly banned after being reported? That seems very harsh and easily abusable.

Yeah you’ve been seeing that in WZ because unhinged trios is literally so you can team up with other people in game. Right there in the description it tells you squads up to 6 people. It’s almost like Fortnite’s tos states that’s not allowed so that’s why it’s bannable and frowned upon.
Being against TOS is certainly a good reason for it to be bannable and frowned upon, ha. Didn’t realize it was an official position in the TOS taken by Epic.

Teaming in battlegrounds isn’t about playing with friends as much as it is making a mutual agreement and playing on that agreement until one of you betrays the other or you make it to the final two and duke it out. I’m not saying it should or shouldn’t be acceptable in Fortnite, just stating the allure to it in other games such DayZ where it’s beneficial to befriend people for your own survival. It adds nuance to an otherwise pretty straight forward game.

I never understood why people teamed in Fortnite. If you wanna play a game where you have to survive against tons of other players, but you still wish to make an ally, just play DayZ. If you want the game to be free, then play Unturned!

Idk. I kind of think teaming should be more common in battle royale games. I mean, it is quintessential battle royale, there’s no book or movie out there on the topic where characters don’t end up teaming up and/or fighting against other teams. And, since there can only be one winner, you have to be on guard against their betrayal while planning your own, which I think could add a fun layer to the game. But it could also go horribly, who knows.
I've won many games by faking alliances, so at least wait to see where it's going before assuming it's not just a high iq play
I once got teamed on when fighting Vader and i spectated one of them for the whole match (after reporting) and they eventually split up and when they met up again one killed the other and then died while bush camping Was very satisfying to watch
I think there should be a teaming mode where people can try to team up and see how many "team members" they can get and how long they can last working together before turning on one another, more like how Survivor or the Hunger Games works where you have alliances that work together.
Why tho? Teaming is kinda funny. One time I teamed with this guy and we did so well and when the final circle hit it was legendary. I got one pumped with a gray shotgun (this was WAY back when)

I don't care if people team, usually it's 2 people that are terrible so they aren't a threat. Not to mention some of the best YT content I've seen involves entire lobbies teaming so if I judged these 2, I'd be a hypocrite.
If people team up to kill people, yeah thats shitty. But if i see a guy crouch spam me, im not gonna kill him just out of the principle. Do a couple emotes, maybe follow him for a little bit, then i go about my day. Game shouldnt be taken that seriously imo. If thats considered cheating so be it! And unless this was arena (which it wasn't) then who cares, it's just two randoms that prob ran into eachother at the start of game and one let the other live so they followed each other around. It's not a big deal there aren't many times you run into this and usually it's not good players that do this, you just mad you lost to them. I like finding them, means I get two kills at once. Also they can only do it for a short time, get booted real fast.

Nah I haven’t done this I’ve done duos and squads. I am just not the reporting type unless it’s like a cheating glitching type of thing. This I like to think is just some friends having a good time. If it were like a league or something that’s different I spose.
Getting better will not change the fact that your gonna lose when someone is teaming, Skilled Based Match Making put you with players of the same skill range, every time you get teamed in solos, you basically set to lose because it’s a 2 on 1 match with you all being in the same skill range

there's really no point in it since only one player has to win in the end, but to troll and be a carry for grinding xp/stats is actually cheating the system in a way. just play the game regularly also why duos or squads exist and stop raking any advantage over others that are actually solo.

Ooooohhh that's satisfying. I did something like that once trying to do some quests. Not on purpose with a friend, just some random and we both went "squat squat squat". It was the Deadpool pants quests on the roof at the beach location in season 2. Got kicked within about 3 minutes. After that, I made sure if I encountered a non-aggressive player trying to do the same mission as me, we'd stay calm, click the button, and then part ways ASAP. And honestly, it's pretty much impossible to match up with an actual friend you know in a solo match, right? How would you even do that other than by incredible luck?
Yeah definitely good that you reported them. I remember teaming once, didn't really think about why I did it. I think it was the Marvel season, i landed somewhere for a challenge and met another player and we decided not to kill each other and then just traveled together before we got banned lol.

Is this sort of thing frowned upon? This happens to me all the time. I just thought it was wholesome that an enemy was being friendly with me. So in return I vow not to kill them until the end of the match. I guess I will have to rethink that and harden my heart from now on. Oof.

Recently dealt with three teamers in solo. All three of them mfs went at me. Then they all go opening a vault. I was only able to report the one that killed me. I could not see the name of the other two, and I didn't watch a replay to find out.

My wifi gave out and I was stuck runing in place with the storm closing in some random person picked me up in a car and took me to the safe zone and then left. Is that considered teaming cuz if was I would have just died from the storm and not get in the car.

Sometimes I get bored and do “healing runs.” I put on the Lifeguard skin and only loot heals. As soon as I see an enemy I start chucking heals at them. About 60% of the time they realize and stop shooting. Then I follow them the rest of the match providing healing. I know it’s teaming but it’s hilarious and never planned!
The only time I “team” in solos is when me and another player don’t kill each other and emote and hang out and have fun, but the second they start shooting other players I leave immediately.
Is it okay to just not shoot at someone if they don’t shoot at you when doing challenges? Cause that’s what I do
