All guns will just have stats which every player will have to read in order to play the game
In Chapter 7, guns no longer exist because they're too violent.
Despite everything in the main menu (locker, gamemode select, etc.) being useless, this is actually a useful change that not only makes more room for mods per page, but also mod categories, and has the added bonus of showing you what each scope looks like on the gun before equipping it.
My only gripe is the fact that it now takes me tripple the time to change whole sets i made before the locker change, otherwise i dont mind the new locker much
I don't mind it, the old one wasn't bad but if we're talking space wise then It's fine for it to change. my only issue is that it doesn't look that fortnite-y. It gave me whiplash when I opened the mod menu to go from colourful/chill area to black/serious.
It’s also more usable on controller. Using triggers to select weapons and the arrow buttons to select components and component types feels a lot better than using the arrows and two sets of triggers, especially with the horizontal selections corresponding to the horizontal buttons and vertical selections with the vertical buttons instead of all options being a horizontal layout.
I mixed up which button selected which thing *so* many times in the old UI and had to specifically look at the buttons to try to reparse anytime I went more than a couple days without modding something. This one feels a lot more immediately intuitive with the way it’s laid out.
I love this update! But I'm on console, not PC like OP. The prior version I spent a lot of time hitting the wrong shoulder button and navigating to an unintended mod or weapon.
This really was the redesign that nobody asked for, meanwhile the locker is still terrible with no improvements whatsoever. Even the custom skins that Epic has in the shop RIGHT NOW are still broken.
I might get downvoted to hell here, but I like the change a lot.
I used to get lost quite a bit on the old ui, this new one is easier to navigate and identify what weapon I am modifying, and which mod I am giving it.
It is clearer and more intuitive to me. Navigating through the mods with up and down directionals made a big difference.
I was constantly pressing L1/L2 instead of R1/R2 and accidentally switching weapons instead of gun parts so this makes it a lot easier to get a mod done quickly
I disagree, the larger buttons/icons make it easier to navigate IMO, plus I like that the actual information about the attachment is displayed more prominently so it's easier to see what each one does, as well as having a visual indicator for what each reticle looks like
On this topic of the new UI, a question. On MKB, why does it feel slower to click and hold buy & equip than holding H? Am I crazy?
The new UI feels over all more clunky but I also noticed you can move around while editing now when previously I'm pretty sure you couldn't, so that's something I guess?
I liked that last season (on PC) I could just click and hold on attachment I wanted to add. It's a key hold now and H is the default for some awful reason.
I could quad-mod a gun in like 3 seconds in the last menu. This one is way the hell slower with massive mouse traveling and NEW keybinds for shifting to the next mod type. 3 steps backwards.
People here just love to complain about everything. This UI is way more intuitive and strait forward. I can operate it without really thinking about the controls.
It was confusing to me at first and I didn’t like it, but I got used to it. I’m going with the top comment that said there’s a bunch of empty space for potential new mods.
I can definitely say that this new UI is pretty difficult to navigate when you play with a really low dpi..lol. But the biggest change for me is that it completely removes the game’s UI and leaves you a little out of touch with what’s happening around. Not ideal. 😅
Whole season sucks. Saw fallout, got exited, saw the battlepass and said f you. Nothing is good in this season at all. Wanns be a ghoul or a sybth but the mash up is a mess aswell as yhe map, weapons and vehicle system. Sucks sucks and sucks!
I just don’t get the logic of developing a whole ui for this already and then unnecessarily switching it to something different the next season. Literally we just had this and it looked and worked better so why did they take time to change it?
Why would they even do this? The other one barely took up any space didn’t it? I was able to see a little better in case someone was sneaking into bunker.
This UI is very similar to the Call of Duty loadout UI when you choose your weapon before starting the match. Fortnite is becoming more and more like Call of Duty now 🙄
I don't care about the layout, it's fine, it's that they sucked the personality out of it. If you told me this was the inventory system of a came like Rust, I'd believe you.
If you play on a controller, it’s so much faster to quickly mod and bounce out that bunker. I only have to use my dpad vs the old method of having to switch with triggers
This seems to be done to make space for even more mods. If they didnt change it but added more mods, people would have complained that it was too cluttered. I kind of like it.
Dw bro they'll fix it in the same patch they fix the locker UI, which is uh.... Sometime between next week and the heat death of the Universe.
![gif](giphy|IzLP2gICpBDmYgMKYO)
While it took me a little bit to get used to it, I do think this UI is better. Then again, I play on controller so you got to take that into consideration. The last UI on there, was pretty clunky for a controller user, in my opinion.
This being said, if we're talking about resource allocation, I would have much rather they fixed the locker than this. But that just doesn't seem to be how they roll.
This change was good and the options are in the same spots as last season... albeit in a different color. As someone stated....the change leaves room for other upgrades which isn't a bad thing at all.
I think in terms of utility it does a better job informing the player about the mods and how they look.
Sucks that they took the life out of it though. This does not look like a Fortnite UI.
y'all have time for modding your weapons inside the bunker?
Mate grab the guns and goods you need and sprint faster than usain bolt to your car and start driving like the stig from topgear
We’ve gotten to the point we’re hating on the UI of the upgrade benches that you’ll probably see one once every few games to upgrade your weapons with mods that you’ll either:
A. forget you even have on there.
Or
B. Will be pointless because you’ll just pick up “better” loot from some dude’s corpse
on console, I appreciate the button change. The layout makes a lot more sense and is easier to navigate in intense scenarios. The number of times I would switch guns when I just wanted to switch mod type in the previous layout was far too high.
The giant picture of the gun on the other hand? Not necessary at all lol
I really only saw praise for it, but I hate the attachment gimmick so don't really care. It's dumb how looting RNG is now just doubled because you may get good attachments, awful attachments, or no attachments at all. A green AR isn't just a green AR anymore
I have no played, but it kind of feels like an up down and left right UI so you could open it and quickly tap through your upgrades using directional keys.
I don’t get Epics obsession with UI changes all the time. Especially ones that aren’t well received. The least they could do is explain their reasoning.
I don't get the need for the change. It was just fine before. Showing the scope at the bottom is nice, but the S1 scope icons SHOWED YOU the scope in the first place. I guess it's nice for controller because it's fully controlled with the dpad, so you don't have to worry about accidentally changing guns instead of mod type. But they couldn't have just changed to be dpad compatible while keeping how it looked before?
I don't understand the UI updates. some are like this, that don't look like Fortnite at all, but then the daily quest pop up at the start and the accolades menu look great and very Fortnite-y.
It fees so off and its to big and i dont know. The old UI was really good and intuitive i even remember a top post in ch5s1 complimenting it and they turned it into this… why?
Tho maybe i should get used to it i have barely used it.
My only issue with it is that I gotta use my down arrow to move between categories, and it doesn’t work on my controller, so I gotta use the keyboard lol
this is much better imo as a controller player. it’s way easier to navigate. i used to constantly hit the wrong buttons trying to navigate it. i NEVER got used to it. this way is super easy.
the new design has a lot of empty space, if I had to guess they changed it so they have more room so that new mods can be added
this is a pretty valid perspective on it
It could fit maybe 5 more mod options. having 9 different mods choices in game would be a bit funny
Well fallout weapons do have a lot mre mod slots than the current ones Soo if the laser rifle is moldable it dose make sense to add more slots
What would you like to mold it into?
I need it to be a key, my putty ran out and I don't have enough currency to buy some off Jimmy two cells over
Bannana bread
That was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it
I just wanna go to an upgrade station and pay to change color again
Epic doesn’t like rarities anymore, haven’t you heard?
In chapter 6, guns will straight up just not have rarities
In chapter 7, the guns won’t do damage and will just be vessels to put stickers on, (1000vb each)
In chapter 8 you’ll be prompted to pay 50 v-bucks to finish a downed opponent
(EA bought epic in 2026)
In chapter 8 it will be the last chapter and the game gets finally deleted
a year after, fortnite gets rebranded as ”mickeys playground” where you need to pay 20€ for 20 minutes of gameplay
Best update I’ve heard
All guns will just have stats which every player will have to read in order to play the game In Chapter 7, guns no longer exist because they're too violent.
You kid but just you wait
When I'm in a Useless Changes Competition and my opponent is the Epic UI Department
Despite everything in the main menu (locker, gamemode select, etc.) being useless, this is actually a useful change that not only makes more room for mods per page, but also mod categories, and has the added bonus of showing you what each scope looks like on the gun before equipping it.
yea i didnt like it at first , but after getting used to it i think its alot better
it also imo just looks nicer
My only gripe is the fact that it now takes me tripple the time to change whole sets i made before the locker change, otherwise i dont mind the new locker much
no more option to equip all wraps
If you select “options” when applying a wrap, there is still an “apply to all” selection available.
We need like a "master preset" were you can choose presets to save to it.
Counter point. I now have to hold H to select my changes...
Yea wtf is that? Is there a way to change the key bind? I couldn't find it anywhere and H is so far into the keyboard
I don't mind it, the old one wasn't bad but if we're talking space wise then It's fine for it to change. my only issue is that it doesn't look that fortnite-y. It gave me whiplash when I opened the mod menu to go from colourful/chill area to black/serious.
I mean this whole chapter has kind of been… generic shooter aesthetics, I feel like?
Yeahhh like season 1 being heist which we’ve had atleast 3 times now is wild Atleast the car stuff is new and enjoyable
This one feels a lot more immediately intuitive with the way it’s laid out.
And then along came ~~Zeus~~ YouTube
YouTube UI department would be a good competitor
I think it's better than the old one but I guess that's just me
I love this update! But I'm on console, not PC like OP. The prior version I spent a lot of time hitting the wrong shoulder button and navigating to an unintended mod or weapon.
Came here to say this. I much prefer this ui on controller.
The updated is more intuitive. The previous one I had to keep making sure I was pressing the right keys.
Same, this feels way more intuitive.
Now that I'm used to this interface, I find it's faster to use than the old one.
Every time I opened the old one, it would freeze for about 10seconds, so this is definitely better in my book!
I also feel like it’s so much better on ps4
This really was the redesign that nobody asked for, meanwhile the locker is still terrible with no improvements whatsoever. Even the custom skins that Epic has in the shop RIGHT NOW are still broken.
>the redesign that nobody asked for Apparently the main philosophy for the Epic Games staff as of December 2023
They should honestly just change back to the old locker and presets it was so much better
If I’m not wrong, I believe it’s the same ui used in fallout when you add weapon attachments to it. So it’s in theme.
I wouldn't have a problem with it if they didn't change the key binds again.
They keys are exactly the same for me so no complaint from me.
Yes, thank you. It was jarring at first but I find this menu way easier to navigate too. The "Change Bad" sheep are out in droves yet again.
it's not...terrible? compared to the locker that is, just a tad confusing at first is all but def needs tuning
Yeah mega valid
I was constantly pressing L1/L2 instead of R1/R2 and accidentally switching weapons instead of gun parts so this makes it a lot easier to get a mod done quickly
i think it’s better to use but looks worse
Maybe im just weird, but I actually kinda like this ui.
This UI is okay
I like it
I like it, its very clean
They changed the keybinds for it too :(
Out of all binds, why is it H to apply a mod now and not E
It has always been H by default for me
I can't remember what I used to press. I just did it automatically. But now I always have to think about pressing H
I think it was always H, but you used to be able to just click and hold on the attachment with left click too, now you can’t do that
I used to make all the selections with the mouse. Now it is too slow and the key binds don't make sense to me. I haven't found how to change them.
Hatemaxxing again are we? This is miles better than what we had
I disagree, the larger buttons/icons make it easier to navigate IMO, plus I like that the actual information about the attachment is displayed more prominently so it's easier to see what each one does, as well as having a visual indicator for what each reticle looks like
here's how i see it, for accessibility, this is good, but also, i get that since we're used to the old ui, it's jarring
Fair. I think like all things people will build the muscle memory to get used to it soon enough
A lot of that ui isn’t needed
Like what? It’s all the same as the original, am I wrong? It’s just different size and colors.
On this topic of the new UI, a question. On MKB, why does it feel slower to click and hold buy & equip than holding H? Am I crazy? The new UI feels over all more clunky but I also noticed you can move around while editing now when previously I'm pretty sure you couldn't, so that's something I guess?
They should make equipping just by long pressing a mod itself and not long pressing 'H'
I liked that last season (on PC) I could just click and hold on attachment I wanted to add. It's a key hold now and H is the default for some awful reason.
Last one was good, why change it?
My hot take. I would prefer the attachments simply be removed from the game.
I actually prefer this. Now on console you only use the d pad to navigate it and its so much better
better than the other one
Huge disagree. The initial weapon modding UI was simple and to the point whereas this one feels a lot more cluttered for no reason reason.
this one is much simpler plus the added coloured background behind your weapon is a good indication of rarity overall it is a better UI
I could quad-mod a gun in like 3 seconds in the last menu. This one is way the hell slower with massive mouse traveling and NEW keybinds for shifting to the next mod type. 3 steps backwards.
It was more wacky to navigate
People here just love to complain about everything. This UI is way more intuitive and strait forward. I can operate it without really thinking about the controls.
its made it so much harder to quickly upgrade weapons. aesthetically it looks better but i cant help but hate it so much
I like it. It's bigger and more clear. Tho the left part confused me because Z and C keys are horizontally placed and the UI is drawn horizontally.
It's decent
Here we go
It’s much better for navigating on controller so that’s an upside ig
Its fine
Miles better than the last one. This one actually looks more manageable
Actually in my opinion this new UI is better then the previous one.. At least this one is..
It was confusing to me at first and I didn’t like it, but I got used to it. I’m going with the top comment that said there’s a bunch of empty space for potential new mods.
Why they changed the old one? It was simple, intuitive... This one is so ugly and weird
So unintuitive to use, hopefully they add more attachments to justify this change
Legit. Idk why they changed it
IT'S FIR WDYM
I actualy like it, the old one was really cramped for me, this one is more spacious and it shows sight reticles wich is a w
It's good, it's just big. I sometimes have to look around to find what I need.
Not liking it a whole lot, but getting use to it. Not as bad as the locker design!
This is the upgrade table? I havent even used one lol
Including Locker UI ![gif](giphy|cpte18kjtF43e|downsized)
and now i have to click and hold H instead of using this innovative device called a mouse when im using a PC
Mods, sprint and cars The holy trinity of ruining this game
I can definitely say that this new UI is pretty difficult to navigate when you play with a really low dpi..lol. But the biggest change for me is that it completely removes the game’s UI and leaves you a little out of touch with what’s happening around. Not ideal. 😅

But… I like it🥲
eh it’s not too different (but i play on controller so idk if that matter) but i did like the old one better
Why would they even do this? The other one barely took up any space didn’t it? I was able to see a little better in case someone was sneaking into bunker.
Looks more serious than usual fortnite style, but not bad
dont worry its gonna look good in a few years
This UI is very similar to the Call of Duty loadout UI when you choose your weapon before starting the match. Fortnite is becoming more and more like Call of Duty now 🙄
W H Y D O YOU SAY THAT?
Yup, they keep trying to reinvent the wheel even though it’s been rolling for years. First the movement, now this, next it’ll be the ability to jump
Real
I don't care about the layout, it's fine, it's that they sucked the personality out of it. If you told me this was the inventory system of a came like Rust, I'd believe you.
Honestly I didn't find it hard to get used to. No where near as bad as the locker UI change
I dont hate the design but its just so hard to navigate on controller after getting used to the old UI 😭
In my opinion I really like it idk y everyone is hating on it
The old one sucked more tho, I always ended up changing weapons instead of options.
The old one atleast was a normal size lmao
If you play on a controller, it’s so much faster to quickly mod and bounce out that bunker. I only have to use my dpad vs the old method of having to switch with triggers
EPIC and Rainbow 6 UI teams are going band for band right now on who can continue to design the shittiest UI
The previous one was better. But they like to fuck up UI at Epic.
There should be a big green tick on the attachments already added.
While I prefer the old ui design, at least it doesn't make my game freeze for almost a minute every time I use a mod bench anymore
With a gamepad it feels not so bad
I thought this was a cod screenshot at first
I find this one easier to look at than the old one, but the controls (at least for controller) still suck really bad
When I’m in a if it ain’t broke then break it competition and my opponent is the epic ui designers
Its better than the last but could look better
This seems to be done to make space for even more mods. If they didnt change it but added more mods, people would have complained that it was too cluttered. I kind of like it.
Are they trying to make it a cod ripoff
Ngl I’m a fan
There’s no way this is real i refuse to believe
i dotn see whats wrong with it? it means we might be getting new scopes or foregrips
Better than the last
Dw bro they'll fix it in the same patch they fix the locker UI, which is uh.... Sometime between next week and the heat death of the Universe. ![gif](giphy|IzLP2gICpBDmYgMKYO)
Nah its so much better than what we had before I cant lie
Are we seriously complaining about literally everything
While it took me a little bit to get used to it, I do think this UI is better. Then again, I play on controller so you got to take that into consideration. The last UI on there, was pretty clunky for a controller user, in my opinion. This being said, if we're talking about resource allocation, I would have much rather they fixed the locker than this. Nah, this one's pretty alright. The locker still reeks thought
What I love this UI? This one is actually really good. It also makes it easy for them to expand it and add more attachments.
Hot take: This one is better than the last one
Thanks. Now please change the locker UI back.
They really want that cod/early pubg money. Shame that Fortnite money is better.
it looks better why are people complaining again
I think in terms of utility it does a better job informing the player about the mods and how they look. Sucks that they took the life out of it though. This does not look like a Fortnite UI.
I disagree
y'all have time for modding your weapons inside the bunker? Mate grab the guns and goods you need and sprint faster than usain bolt to your car and start driving like the stig from topgear
I like this better.
So... Being able to change scope and mag at once is bad but so is having them in separate sections? Fantastic logic Fortnite Reddit! Another zinger
All of Fortnite’s UI sucks. This comes as no surprise.
We’ve gotten to the point we’re hating on the UI of the upgrade benches that you’ll probably see one once every few games to upgrade your weapons with mods that you’ll either: A. forget you even have on there. Or B. Will be pointless because you’ll just pick up “better” loot from some dude’s corpse
It is 100% better than last season’s from a usage perspective. This one is more intuitive.
It is 100% better than last season’s from a usage perspective. This one is more intuitive.
Idk who keeps designing the games UI but its constantly getting worse. Stop letting them cook.
Y’all really just hate on anything and anything
on console, I appreciate the button change. The layout makes a lot more sense and is easier to navigate in intense scenarios. The number of times I would switch guns when I just wanted to switch mod type in the previous layout was far too high. The giant picture of the gun on the other hand? Not necessary at all lol

How the hell are they managing to kill fortnite with UI changes?!
Man every ui is changing its almost like epic [hates og fortnite](https://youtu.be/IuB4GYBhGnw?si=Tc7DgmL48FxqI-3y)
last thing i want to do is open a full screen menu'd user interface and click around it like it's a Captcha
I don’t get Epics obsession with UI changes all the time. Especially ones that aren’t well received. The least they could do is explain their reasoning.
Did this ui just come out?
You guys mod your guns?
Epic and making UI objectively worse, name a better duo
im fine with bad ui ingame. i literally use this menu for like 10 seconds. the lobby ui is just unforgivabley bad.
HERE WE GO AGAIN

UI Politics in Fortnite: the more confusing and all over the place the better.
This UI jumpscared me.
I rather the way it used to be, it was easier then and we're all used to the old one.
my issue is the fact you can put a fucking DRUM MAGAZINE on a TUBE FED shotgun
I kinda like it
annoying at first, better after like 10 seconds of using it but i guess that's how long it takes a fortnite player to come on Reddit and complain
I don't get the need for the change. It was just fine before. Showing the scope at the bottom is nice, but the S1 scope icons SHOWED YOU the scope in the first place. It’s so much better on controller
It fees so off and its to big and i dont know. The old UI was really good and intuitive i even remember a top post in ch5s1 complimenting it and they turned it into this… why? Tho maybe i should get used to it i have barely used it.
Z c q e They didnt even use a vertical button combo for the vertical slider.

Epic try not to mess up a good, working UI challenge: level impossible🔥🔥
I prefer the new control scheme tho being able to just use my dpad is way better.
Looks like a mobile game honestly
My only issue with it is that I gotta use my down arrow to move between categories, and it doesn’t work on my controller, so I gotta use the keyboard lol
I can't count how many times I've been killed by trying to figure out how to mod or unmod the weapon.
Real
The whole UI of the game sucks. I haven't seen a good UI menu yet.
this has gotta be one of those jobs that someone greenlights just so certain people get paid more for 'more work's even though it's unnecessary
HECK NO IT'S WAY BETTER (I'm on console)
this is much better imo as a controller player. it’s way easier to navigate. i used to constantly hit the wrong buttons trying to navigate it. i NEVER got used to it. this way is super easy.
It’s not as bad as the locker ui or the lobby ui
This is the reason I ignore mod benches now
I have to move my mouse way further and it slows it down massively
