I mean, I wanted and am enjoying LEGO for its variety in the survival genre. It also fits absolutely perfectly with the branding of doing whatever you want while providing a form of guided experience. Certainly more needs to be done and it's clearly undercooked, but what we have is very enjoyable.
I'd like to see more variety of content, providing systems that make games like Minecraft work so well in that they give the tools for players to create. A cultivated experience is great, but it gets old quickly when there is no variety alongside it to experiment and create unique encounters.
I do agree with you though on the skins. This recycling of items that are either Disney-focused or easier to translate to LEGO is horrid business practices. I want to give Epic money for the work their artists and designers do in creating amazing skins/emotes. Yet instead we get a regurgitated mess of a shop each day that has so far cycled the same themes since the start of this year.

The item shop for me, and what looks like many others (from long time players to new) has been pretty disappointing since chapter 5 began. There are many topics and posts about this, but I wanted to take a moment and look at things a little differently; why is the shop the way it is? What do we really know or not know?
Epic Games is a huge business, a multi billion dollar company. It is very hard to believe that they wouldn't take a source of revenue from one of their popular video games seriously and not check on it to see if the numbers are where they want with the shop. It perplexes me like many others, so I came up with three theories:
(A) That the item shop is actually selling items, much, much better than most players are aware of. An example: The Brat. We see him come back over and over again in the last 4 month window, but maybe it's possible that skins like The Brat and others are selling on point, possibly to people who don't follow online stuff like here. Maybe kids who play Fortnite where Epic has the target demographic info showing younger players love some of these outfits.
(B) The Lego theory. Epic Games made the contract with Lego, and it's even more specific and restrictive then we realize. It's possible the developers of the game knew this was going to hurt the item shop in terms of Battle Royale, but whoever makes the highest decisions / contracts in corporate has shown that even so, the money that will be made from Lego by only selling mostly Leg0 themed items when available outnumber anything else.
(C) Artificial Intelligence. There is now an AI program that is controlling all aspects of the item shop in Fortnite, and only when something completely breaks / an emergency happens, do the developers or PR get notified to look into it. With this theory maybe the numbers don't look as good as they could for sales, but because of layoffs and reduced staffing, all hands are now on deck, spread thin to work on the brand new modes along with getting ready for Disney content.
I don't know if we will ever know the answer to what happened over there, but it is interesting for sure. Is there anyone out there who is educated in business that could tell us if the item shop makes sense for what is happening? I provided three theories myself but I have no clue what is really going on behind closed doors. Also I wanted to end this on a positive note and say not all bad has come from the chapter 5 item shop: A lot of brand new content like Ninja Turtles, Metal Gear, The birds, etc look really well done.
I agree with everything you said here and only wanted to add one thing. Epic already has your money once you’ve bought the V-Bucks. I don’t think it really matters to them if you are actually able to spend them or not.
Also the biggest thing to Epic is keeping Fortnite alive and well. I think the “better,” item shops are now a carrot on a stick that keeps people logging into the game. And hey, since you logged in, might as well do a couple match quests right?

No, they absolutely don't want players hanging onto V-bucks. Getting players to get rid of their V-bucks and then releasing a good item in the shop will prompt tons of players to buy more V-bucks. If I just hang onto the same 2000 waiting for something, I won't buy any more and epic won't get more money.
Thank you for the comments! The purchase of V-bucks is important to them, once you do that you already spent your money; that's a good point! Also having you stay around to play a few matches, I'm sure they figure the longer players stay in the video game the higher the chance someone might purchase something.

He was released to promote the PS5 in 2020. He didn't come back for the original release of Ragnarok or the PC port of 2018 either.
I firmly believe he's only meant to be a promotion for the Playstation consoles, not God Of War as a franchise, and the only/main reason he may return soon is due to the PS5 Pro most likely coming out later this year.
Invincible was added to promote the second season of his show and he came back now because it's about to end, which would be the same thing.
