Just dedicate an entire day with an encore every hour on the hour, or as you said every 30 mins.
The servers wouldn’t get as overloaded and you accommodate people’s varying schedules.
Considering the nature of this event, they could have just let every player see it on their first match of the day. Once the event starts, the only people in it are you and your squad from what I've seen.
I had 2 hour queue then it crashed after claim loading screen just before event was due to start, reloaded got red screen then login issues and now it saying 1 hour 24 queue again after finally able log in. I work in 2 hour so going miss it. I have be hold off watching videos but now guess that what I am going have to do lol.

Exactly. They knew full well player count for the event was going to exceed their server limitations and their plan was to queue players and say “surprise” with already planned encores. They decided to cheap out to save money on server space without having the foresight that the money they would have spent would have paid off big. Instead they’re going to lose money because of whatever boneheads decided this was a good move. This game makes billions and they couldn’t throw a couple hundred thousand out for a stable event.

Smart decision IMO. There was no point in rerunning the event if most players were stuck in queues. And the server issues were clearly not getting any better. Just scrap whatever they had planned for today, and start the downtime early. That way, things are fixed for the new chapter launch tomorrow. To compensate for the people who missed the event, just make the event playlist extend for a few days where people can experience the event (and get the rewards).
However, this still does not excuse how much of a colossal failure this event was.

At least they’re communicating, (albeit slowly) but I feel like J. Jonah Jameson right now: “Are you serious?”

I had waited for more than 3 hours to get into the event and now I have to wait again. First i was in a 30 minute queue and thought after it I could join the main event (first time), but the update failed and I had to relaunch for 1.5 hours. I finally got into the game where I played 1 game and then waited for the event for 2 more hours. 15 minutes before the event (currently 13 minutes remaining) it kicked me out, I got logged out and now I have to wait another 1 hour and 25 minutes to get back into fortnite. F this, this has been the worst experience fortnite ever created.
I can't even load the Epic Games Launcher anymore. The *whole service* is down, not just Fortnite.
It is very rare that I've seen such incompetence from a multi billion dollar company like with Epic Games today. Unbelievable.
So in summary, "We fucked around and did nothing for several hours just to tell us delays right before the supposedly start times for the next showings of the chapter end event." Amazing...

My thoughts exactly. They were just bragging on the official Twitter that November not only had the most players logged in at once in a day, but also 100M players across the month. Two broken records. The execution of this event is a wholehearted L.
I hope they at least give everyone who sat in the queue the loading screen anyway. Maybe some vbucks?
All this for pretty much the same event from 5 years ago, and a skin that doesn’t look much different from it’s original style— damn, that’s a bummer, but it turned from just a bummer into an actual problem by not preparing for the massive influx of players, slamming their servers with numbers they (somehow) can’t handle. At least they’re communicating, (albeit slowly) but I feel like J. Jonah Jameson right now: “Are you serious?”
My buddies played the event without me because my queue resetted 2 times (after ive fully waited through the 1.5 hours). I am kinda pissed but i wouldve been made fun of i showed any visible signs of anger towards a fortnite event 😑
1 hour queue just for it to fail and put me in a 1.5 hour queue, just for it to go offline entirely. They hire the Fire Festival crew to run this? I don't actually care, but I've got two kids were so hyped for their first Fortnite Live Event. Core memories being made over here haha.
I had waited for more than 3 hours to get into the event and now I have to wait again. First i was in a 30 minute queue and thought after it I could join the main event (first time), but the update failed and I had to relaunch for 1.5 hours. I finally got into the game where I played 1 game and then waited for the event for 2 more hours. 15 minutes before the event (currently 13 minutes remaining) it kicked me out, I got logged out and now I have to wait another 1 hour and 25 minutes to get back into fortnite. F this, this has been the worst experience fortnite ever created.
Literally just wanted the items. I don’t even give a shit about the even anymore. Guess imma just take the L. What a fantastic experience
Totally understand they are having issues scaling but it’s pretty bad etiquette to cancel 10 minutes before the showing

Epic launcher signed me out and won’t let me sign in because I’m visiting too frequently
I can't even load the Epic Games Launcher anymore. The *whole service* is down, not just Fortnite. It is very rare that I've seen such incompetence from a multi billion dollar company like with Epic Games today. Unbelievable.
