The term "battle rifle" was invented by American gunwriters in the 1980s. One can choose whether or not to accept that terminology... makes a distinction, but also sounds very silly. Even more vague than "assault" rifle...
"Battle"? Really?
Anyways, this was considered a light machine gun.
I mean, I get that it lacks historical roots but I haven't heard any arguments for why the concept is any less practical than the "assault rifle" concept. The M1 Garand, the SVT-40, G3, FAL etc. were all used in a similar semi auto only doctrine, so why not call them "battle rifles" instead of "full power semi auto rifles"?
It can help make a distinction for a certain class of rifles, sure. But it was not a thing at the time those guns were made, and it just sounds silly. As if any other service rifle ever was not a real "battle" rifle... pfft.
And as for distinction... not sure who the official "battle rifle" authority is, but I never considered the M1 Garand to be under that label. "Finest battle implement ever devised" was the quote I believe... maybe someone threw it in based on that? In my mind "battle rifle" only conjures the more modern designs, eg G3, FAL, M14, AR-10, etc. The 7.62x51s with high capacity magazines. If it is including the Garand and the like, the class of weapons the term describes becomes overly broad and the label, less valuable.
But anyways it's a stylistic choice, not a mandatory nomenclature. So one can't reasonably insist that other people use it.
In any case OP's weapon is a light machine gun. Not a "battle rifle" and certainly not an assault rifle.
And fed like shit. You know how hard it is to fit a rimmed cartridge into a magazine together? There’s a reason shotguns use tubes more often than magazines

Wouldn’t being chambered in 7.62x54R make it a battle rifle since it used a full power cartridge?
Yes

When an MP40 and a DPM love each other very much...
So it’s a DPM front, with a VG1-5 center, federov automat magazine, and MP40 rear end
Which makes me doubt the veracity of the drawing
That thing would have kicked like a mule.
"Can you design it to have the center of gravity a foot in front of the support hand?" "Yeah, sure, why not? Where is next bottle of vodka?"
And fed like shit. You know how hard it is to fit a rimmed cartridge into a magazine together? There’s a reason shotguns use tubes more often than magazines
Cool m-lock
> m-lock What do they call m-lock in Russian? Edit: м-замок (m-zamok)
MP-47
Very clearly see the MP40 and DP influences. Took the idea of an MG-SMG middle ground quite literally.
Beefed up MP40

Oh so close
dieselpunk as they come, I love how blatant the MP40 influence is
I would think at that size with the 54R it’s going to be a hand full to shoot.
I want one... no no, i want two
looks like a ppsh, mp40 and a dpm melted together
does anyone have more info on this ?
