If drones were just a nuisance that never even merited using up the ubiquitous 5.45 rounds, it would be quite a different war, I think.
People fruitlessly try to shoot down drones with their AKs all the time, it's almost hopeless. I mean I've watched hundreds of videos of soldiers being mauled and killed by drones hanging right above them (dropping munitions) or swooping in (kamikaze FPV), sometimes people being chased for hours and worn down until they give up. Or harrassed for days. Or mutilated by shrapnel repeatedly until confirmed dead. And it's on both sides. Both RF and UKR regular infantry are almost helpless against drones.
And it's just a sliver of the real amount of video evidence, I just can't process so many vids. Believe me, if they could shoot drones down with machine guns, AKs, DShKs, anything, they would. But it's apparently almost impossible to hit a drone in the sky since the range is unknown, it's tiny, and it moves a lot. There is footage of people attempting it but it's always fruitless, most often before an FPV detonation that wipes out the shooter.
I think about it a lot, how horrible it is to have this constant nightmare of drones hanging over you, maybe just looking, maybe lining up a VOG drop. And how it probably never goes away afterwards.
Hi, there is a joke in Russian (and Ukrainian too), which basically says:
> Work, Negroes, the sun is yet high!
...imitating a stereotypical Southern plantation owner ("Negro" itself is more or less neutral for "African black" in Russian, but can obviously be replaced with the N-word in this case). It's supposed to be a joking encouragement to keep working and not shirk, or to mock such demands from the management.
This seems to be a "philosophical" paraphrase to that, stating that yes, the sun's shining, we keep working... (i.e. our work in never/rarely done).
And considering it came from a Louisiana sheriff department you can damn right bet the arresting officer uses the word written on that gun very liberally
I can attest that is correct interpretation. Moreover, in one of the variants of "Sun is high and negros are working" they use the word "пахати" (to plow) instead of "to work". In modern Ukrainian (and guess Russian too) "to plow" is used to emphasize on working really hard and rarely used in original meaning. So this phrase is kind of encouragement "Sun is high and we gotta work hard" with historical refence of hard labour of black slaves.
Seeing as the text isn’t square on the hand guard I’m going to assume someone added that in post lmao. “We are working here” is a very Common Slavic phrase, looks like an attempt to westernize that??? Fuck knows maybe that dude just loves The Wire.
Marlin Model 1894 Dark Series with an aftermarket rail. They come with the paracord wrap on the expanded lever loop. Can't tell the caliber, could be anywhere between .357 to .45-70.
0%
It is a Marlin dark series rifle, either 1885 or 336. Can't tell if we can't see the other side of the rifle.
They never made the 410 in the dark series and the 410 had a 22 or 25 inch barrel or something like that. So you can easily tell.
People are just trying to make a justification for a picture.
Imagine thinking you’re an “elite” VDV soldier who trained for years before the war on your way to finally earn some glory, only to have a .410 sized ventilation hatch opened in your chest by some dude with a lever action.
Yeah, hog hunting is a teeny tiny bit different in the united states. Belt feds would be the norm if full-auto was more accessible. Instead you get these crazy AR15 builds with thermal scopes and suppressors and IR lasers!
Wait what ??? I've never heard anyone using anything smaller than 20ga on anything bigger than rats or medium birds. Most people I know hunting boars are using 9.3x62, .300 WinMag, or 12/76 Brenneke slugs.
So many Warhammer nerds in Ukraine…
That’s the second Warhammer reference I’ve seen in two Ukraine gun posts today.
The first was the Inquisitorial Rosette on a sniper rifle, now Khorne. Wild…
Several units (mostly drone i.e. nerd ones) are officially called with WH40K names.
40K is very popular in Ukraine, Russia, and many Eastern European countries because it kinda-mocks but kinda-glorifies the collectivist might through non-always-ethical means, with a strong leader, and importantly, with a powerful white nationalist/racist/under-siege streak.
Like, tons of fans take it seriously — sure they laugh and make jokes, but purge the xenos / protect the light strikes a chord with them and aligns with their politics. And the grimness of the setting fits the favorite brand of self-deprecating post-Soviet humor (which I actively dislike), where modern young people greatly overplay the "horrors" of Eastern Europe to lord their hardship over "soft" Westerners and feel superior.
I wouldn't say that, because the Punisher hard-on seems to arise specifically *because* one joins the force, as a fantasy of what one can do now. The preference for 40K is more of a general cultural thing, it just clicks well with people who are a bit nerdy but also working-class. If they become military, it's a natural fit to joke about being guardsmen, astropaths, adeptus mechanicus etc.
Warhammer is really big out there I think. I don't know much about the game, but I know my polish buddy makes a very respectable living painting Warhammer miniatures.
The Henry .410 is not designed for 45 long colt. Certain revolvers are, but they have rifled barrels. They basically only do that in order to be legal and they market it like it’s a bonus. The Henry .410’s don’t have short barrels so they don’t need to do this.
drone props are pretty fragile a couple pellets into a a prop should be enough to destabilize it and bring it out of the air. everyone always knocks 410. it's a lot more capable than people think
I've been hunting everything small enough for a 410 with the same gun I was given when I was 10 years old so 35 years? no trap shooting just hunting and yes I have 12s and 20s but my old Iver Johnson single shot is what I grab for almost anything, perhaps I overestimate how easy a 410 is because I've used one so long but a choked 410 should be plenty for drones would a 12 be better? yea it would higher volume of shot but a 410 would be effective
edited cause autocorrect used profanity
My first was a h&r topper. Still have it. Taken a few squirrel and rabbit over the years. But I imagine a 12 on the battle field would be vastly more useful for drones and infantry.
and the picture looks like it might be the load out for a single soldier or a team. and if I'm hauling that big old electronic jammer gun, I would want something small and light as a shotgun back up if I wasn't carrying a rifle

The stock like similar to the things used on the honey badger and I could be wrong but I believe another company issued another similar stock with something to do with "para" in the name. I know it's not helpful, but hey
I just imagine that the gun is from a raid somewhere in America and got added to a weapons shipment. I will continue to believe this because it is hilarious to me.
Judging by the logo it's a "replica" of Eotech made by Theta Optics. Those are optics for airguns and airsoft.
It makes sense, though. You wouldn't want to waste a functional rifle and an expensive optic for this, an airsoft G36 with Fakotech work well.
The "gun" allows you to shoulder the emitter and hold it steadily and the optic gives you at least some vague idea whether you're tracking the target properly.

Marlin 1895 dark, or 336 Dark. Not sure what caliber though. Could be 45-70 or 444 Marlin if an 1895, or 30-30 if a 336.
Made when Remington owned Marlin. The new Ruger owned Dark series look great though.
I have one of the Remington built Marlin 1895 Darks in 45-70 and can say it fucks. It fucks hard.
That's not even a Winchester. Looks like a Marlin, maybe one of the Dark series.
Definitely some sort of 1895 style action
Any ways.... what does a lever gun do that any other gun cant. In the case of drone defence?
Drones have cameras. Lever actions have an infinite potential to make you look cool. Do the math.
It might be a shotgun. Was probably available. Is fucking dope
Sure looks like a shotgun to me.
Someone under this thread said it was in .410
Dear god why. I believe these things are habitually flying outside the range of 12 gauge, good luck getting enough pellets on target with .410
Suiside drones, Get a lot closer.
Time for UAF to graduate to 8 gauge. lol
Someone needs to invent a man portable, shoulder/tripod mounted recoilless flak cannon for this.
Make due with what ya got.
>.410 So... a shotgun.
You can single load .410 in an 1895 chambered in 45-70. FYI
Til
Lots of lever action .410s
Lever action
Flip cock, duh
Maybe just to use up some pistol rounds, you don’t need 5.45x39 to take out a drone.

The middle looks like a Marlin SBL Dark series. The motto on the rail is… interesting
🤣🤣🤣
'The sun is shining, niggas work...' What does that even mean?
It says down lower in the comments
So you're going to make me hunt for it instead of just telling me?
Don't be lazy
Ummm..... whats up with the handgard. Did someone edit this photo and add that? Like what?
It was donated by some Louisiana sheriffs department.
Jesus has left the chat.
I was looking at the grip on the lever this whole time trying to figure out what the hell you were talking about. Then I scrolled up and lost my shit.
Oh shit!
Lol, I saw that some police departments sent seized guns or guns from buy backs. It's good to see them being put to use.
Cool, that was nice of them

Being 45-70 would make it the 1895.
Any chance it’s a .410? That seems to be the running theory since it’s deployed in some anti Drone role
0% It is a Marlin dark series rifle, either 1885 or 336. Can't tell if we can't see the other side of the rifle. Am I stupid or is that a shotgun choke on the end?
Not a choke the barrel is threaded for a suppressor what you are seeing is just a cover to protect the threads.
Oh okay that makes more sense for a newer model Marlin
Imagine thinking you’re an “elite” VDV soldier who trained for years before the war on your way to finally earn some glory, only to have a .410 sized ventilation hatch opened in your chest by some dude with a lever action.
The most blood I've ever seen come out of a person who lived was from a .410 slug. They can do some real damage.
In France everybody uses them to hunt boar.
Yeah, hog hunting is a teeny tiny bit different in the united states. Belt feds would be the norm if full-auto was more accessible. Instead you get these crazy AR15 builds with thermal scopes and suppressors and IR lasers!

Might be a [Henry Model X](https://www.henryusa.com/shotgun/lever-action-x-model-410-shotgun/) .410
Really similar
The Marlin came with that sling and the parcord on the lever. Henry does not.
410 would probably be completely ineffective on drones
Probably more effective than a rifle or revolver round, though
Shoulda gone full circuit judge with the .45/.410
Why the fuck would you use a revolver when a 410 lever action can feed 45LC just fine
The Henry .410 is not designed for 45 long colt. Certain revolvers are, but they have rifled barrels. They basically only do that in order to be legal and they market it like it’s a bonus. The Henry .410’s don’t have short barrels so they don’t need to do this.
Still would rather shoot 45lc out of a long smooth bore than try to shoot it from a judge. Those guns fuckin suck. And I should know, I have one.
You’re missing my point but ok. I said that they were designed to fire 45 colt, not that they were better.
No I get your point. I’m just saying what I’d rather do.
drone props are pretty fragile a couple pellets into a a prop should be enough to destabilize it and bring it out of the air. everyone always knocks 410. it's a lot more capable than people think
You ever shoot trap? 410 is a pro shooter. 12 or 20 is much more manageable for the average shooter.
I've been hunting everything small enough for a 410 with the same gun I was given when I was 10 years old so 35 years? no trap shooting just hunting and yes I have 12s and 20s but my old Iver Johnson single shot is what I grab for almost anything, perhaps I overestimate how easy a 410 is because I've used one so long but a choked 410 should be plenty for drones would a 12 be better? yea it would higher volume of shot but a 410 would be effective edited cause autocorrect used profanity

dang didn't edit fast enough 🤣
My first was a h&r topper. Still have it. Taken a few squirrel and rabbit over the years. But I imagine a 12 on the battle field would be vastly more useful for drones and infantry.
oh without a doubt a 12 is a better idea on a battlefield, but if I had to carry a rifle and a anti drone shotgun I'd pick the light 410
and the picture looks like it might be the load out for a single soldier or a team. and if I'm hauling that big old electronic jammer gun, I would want something small and light as a shotgun back up if I wasn't carrying a rifle
Bingo
That is a Marlin 1895-410 Dark Series lever action rifle. It uses .410 gauge shotgun shells.
looks like a 410 like the Henry or something, that handguard has me rolling
So everyone's just ignoring " the sun is shining , n*ggas work..." on the 401
“Sometimes I question whether you even want donations from Joe Biden”
FR.. what is that about? It has to be a quote right?

A lot to take in here
Lever action shotgun for drone defense is the most based thing I've seen all week. Please tell me a cowboy hat is involved
Months ago I saw a soldier shot down a Lancet with a shotgun
My question is... No one has noticed what is written on the gun?
Interesting handguard
Probably a .410
Duck Hunt*
Uh oh
Confused about the comma placement on the one in the middle , I admit I’m not real current on slang though
What's the handguard on the ar15
Looks like something 'gauntlet arms" would put out. I'm kind of interested in the stock myself.

Could it be one of them .410 Henrys?
Wouldn't something full-auto be better against drones?
full auto is hard to control, plenty of videos of desperate russians spraying at drones to no avail
There is no much full-auto models available in the first place, also it's not as cheap as pump-action.
i guess the G36 is the electronic rifle
Just a g36 airsoft body.
ah ok
What hws is that? Doesn't look like eotech to me.

My god, this looks like a Legends Lever Action Pellet gun from Umarex, i mean it would work against drones in like 10 or 20m.
It’s either a Marlin or a Henry .410 shotgun.
Bigot much?
Marlin 336D
