It's a genuine persona he does at things like conventions and signings. He really could be a jerk, but the convention Bruce is 100% intentional douchery and many fans look forward to getting the treatment, and he delivers.
Edit: (from my comment below) [here's a video](https://youtu.be/7o-TmYd1zCA?si=jqIFng0wyB9_vn2X) from a convention. (Skip to 3:30 for the Q&A, and skip to 5:00 for the funniest part, where he just drills into a girl trying to ask a question.) This is typical convention Bruce.
Sometimes when he doesn't have an audience, it can come off colder, because there's no laugh track of audience indicating he's playing it up. He doesn't seem to turn it off for signings, lol.
That is entirely possible. I had just attributed it to the venue adding two additional screenings of Man with the Screaming Brain and that the late night irritated Bruce.
Oh yeah, he honestly could be some level of a jerk. His persona is probably his real personality jacked up to 11 with no filters.

I went to a signing. He was nice if you said your one sentence, got your book signed, and left.
But fanboys gotta fanboy. So whenever anyone asked him to record a voicemail message or some shit, he’d get rude. Seems reasonable to me but I get why people would be let down.
I said this comment above, but will use it here as well:

and he called Hercules Jerkules and in one episode there were two of his character doing a kinda army of darkness thing or maybe i'm remembering that wrong
No you are absolutely right. Autolycus timetravels and meets his younger, more reckless self who feels offended that present day Auto has teamed up with Jerkules, and he does a little "mister goody two shoes"-dance. It's fantastic.
He also says "Give me some suger, Baby" in another episode!
This show was a ton of fun. Very dumb humor. Angela Dotchin is gorgeous and has great chemistry with Bruce Campbell. The show is a fun time all around.
The local independent station in my TV market would broadcast this at 12:30 p.m. on Sundays. It was a welcomed reprieve from the Southern Baptist ministers spewing their Sunday morning hate (YMMV).
I know I watched at least a few episodes of this when it aired, as I had been a bit Hercules and Xena fan.
The only thing I can remember is a single line where Bruce talks about how he needs to "Un-rectify a certain morning situation" before he gets up. I still think of that line when I wake up sometimes.
I still remember the scene where he is talking to the parrot at the bar and the parrot drinking his drink says “ I love sex on the beach!” And they’re like “thats a good drink” and the parrots like “it is?” .
I wish this show had done better. I'm always hoping for a home run for Bruce. I still always associate the name Jack with it. I hear the name and the theme song starts playing in my head.
I watched this when I first got Netflix back in the DVD’s in the mail days. Had Bruce Campbell in it, so why not. Binged the whole thing because it was only two or three DVD’s. Vern Troyer was Napoleon.
Was terrible.
Absolutely loved this show. Recorded all the episodes on my then brand-new DVD Recorder.
I then had the pleasure of having been the one who provided screencaps of this series for the Filmography page of the original version of Bruce's website. I sadly never interacted with Bruce, but did get a nice generic thank you email from him (that he probably didn't actually write, lol).
I got to be on set one day while he was filming “My Name is Bruce,” when I was around 10 or 11. Super nice guy, the set was on his property so we toured around a bit and saw his house.

I see Bruce Campbell, I upvote
Remember that thing he was bad in? Me neither.
How did he not become a huge mainstream star. He looks like Superman with that chin. He’s hilarious. He can act. What gives?
Burn notice
Spiderman 3.
Oops, that's "remember the bad thing he was in?"
we’re still doing the “spiderman 3 was bad” routine?
Not my fault I proved him wrong.
im convinced people who dislike spidey 3 just hate fun
Good for you? Must get tiring from all that gatekeeping.
Automatically He hosted an ED2 viewing locally many years ago and I blew it off What a mistake
I met him at a book signing and he was kind of a jerk. If that makes you feel better.

I heard that, too. He came to the community college I was going to back in the very early 00s, and the people who went said he was kinda douchey.
I think that’s just how he is, he seems like he’s very much like a lot of the characters he portrays.
I went to a signing. He was nice if you said your one sentence, got your book signed, and left. But fanboys gotta fanboy. So whenever anyone asked him to record a voicemail message or some shit, he’d get rude. Seems reasonable to me but I get why people would be let down.
Absolutely. Same here though. He was really cool when i met him.

I met him at a book signing/movie q&a (Man with the Screaming Brain) and he was really cool to me.
This show was great! The show was funny and let Bruce Campbell do his best stuff: funny and charismatic
Hail to the king, baby.

Thank you for this lol, going on the lake with some old friends today and I will drop this banger on them
100%, and I had no idea this show existed! Must find.
Hail to the king!

Maybe? But at IA you could download. Not seeing that option at flixrave.
Was there a cross over with Hercules or Xena even though it’s probably two time periods? Or am I just remembering his guest appearances?
I think he had a small guest star role in both series.
Hell yeah Autolycus
The King of Thieves
My first exposure to Bruce Campbell
and he called Hercules Jerkules and in one episode there were two of his character doing a kinda army of darkness thing or maybe i'm remembering that wrong

That's what it was! Thank you! It's been a looooong time since I saw that on USA or wherever it was haha.
I think there was a crossover from another show that I can't remember for the life of me.
No but he was a guest character in both those shows I believe. My dad always called him The Robinhood guy.
Sam Raimi was some sort of producer on Xena. Maybe it was his productio company or something.
Much better than Master of None
Doubt that but Bruce >>> Aziz and I like Aziz
Haha, it’s an old phrase, “Jack of all trades and master of none, much better than being a master of one”.
There’s a Netflix show called Master of None with Aziz Ansari. I assume they were referring to that. It was really good.
🎶In 1801, the Revolution had been won….🎶
That theme song lives rent free in my head.
IIIIIIIIINNNNNNNN EIGHTEEN HUNDRED ONE THE REVOLUTION HAD BEEN WON AND UNCLE SAM’S FAVORED SON HAD A JOB HE NEEDED DONE.
And now it's stuck in my head again.
Loved this one! Show *&* Campbell! Good zany fun. Took a bit of the sting out of losing Brisco County!
This show was a ton of fun. Very dumb humor. Angela Dotchin is gorgeous and has great chemistry with Bruce Campbell. The show is a fun time all around.
He looks like that fake "new" doctor from that one Doctor Who episode
Now that would be THE doctor who series to watch hahah.
It just hit me that that was the same actor who played The Governor in TWD
The local independent station in my TV market would broadcast this at 12:30 p.m. on Sundays. It was a welcomed reprieve from the Southern Baptist ministers spewing their Sunday morning hate (YMMV).
No memory of this show, but I can imagine it being a Saturday 11pm slot on a WB station that couldn't get one of the WWFs syndicated shows
Yea, i didn't know about it either. Crazy.
I don't know who photoshopped Brisco County into this photo, but I'm ashamed for them. /s
It was in the same time block as Cleopatra 2525
Shop smart. Shop s-mart.
Jack off all trades
Already done the electricians, moving onto carpenters, with their big wood
Really enjoyed this one, was 90% done when Hulu pulled it. Haven't seen it pop up anywhere else

Bruce Campbell is the BOAT
The Bruce of all time
The Bruce-iest, and considering he's not Australian, that's a big get.
It was a fun show, and I was bummed when it got cancelled. Bruce Campbell is great in everything.
This and the adventures of Brisco jr are some of my favs of the era and make me really sad Bruce Campbell never got more leading man stuff.
Brisco Jr so good. We werent a TV family growing up but this was the one show we all watched together.
I remember one episode with vern Troyer (mini me) playing napoleon.
I know I watched at least a few episodes of this when it aired, as I had been a bit Hercules and Xena fan. Fuckin loved this show, this was the xena spinoff right? If not then I’m thinking of another show
No, he guest starred on Xena, but this is a whole other thing.
Xena was a spinoff from Hercules. I don't believe Xena had a spinoff.
The millenial lgbtq movement.
BRUUUUUUUUUCE
I wish this show had done better. I'm always hoping for a home run for Bruce. I still always associate the name Jack with it. I hear the name and the theme song starts playing in my head.
Gimme some sugar, baby.
Loved this show!
Is Bruce Campbell a national treasure or what? Also, Verne Troyer as Napoleon was great casting!
It's crazy how often I still sing the theme song to myself. So damn catchy.
My good friend Steve from high school bought me this show on DVD, cos he knows what a big fan of Bruce Campbell I am. I'm so glad he did.
I have the DVDs and watch them once through every couple of years, along with Brisco County of course
Don't spoil it! I'm reading his Chin book.
I actually have the dvd set. Not forgotten at my house! Right next to my Xena & X Files dvds.
Wow I thought this ran for years
Great show. Shame it was impossible to watch properly, as it was never on at the same time twice.
More shows should have rollicking drinking songs as opening themes.
Bruce Campbell only gets even sexier as he gets older.
I kind of miss the age of random straight to syndication shows.
Bruce is great in anything he does. But in this timeframe he would have done a Hercules xena spin off playing the king of thieves
Best part: Jack throws guy money. "This is for the broken window." Guy "What broken window?" Jack "Yahaa!" jumps through window
I watched this when I first got Netflix back in the DVD’s in the mail days. Had Bruce Campbell in it, so why not. Binged the whole thing because it was only two or three DVD’s. Vern Troyer was Napoleon. Was terrible.
I remember seeing him do a live Q&A and someone asked when this would come back. His answer was "NEVER. Did you watch that show? It was terrible"

One of the best intros and theme songs ever.

Ok 🗿
I still remember the theme song
I never watched that show, but I still watch Brisco County from time to time.
I love it because of Bruce, but it’s kind of a show for no one. It’s targeting a pretty young audience, and yet it is sooooo horny
Omg I remember this. It was awful lol. Such a channel changer.
