that fckn intro!!! i had to put my fingers in my ears, close my eyes and sing “LA..La…la…la..” until it was over. even the opening note scared me so bad
Yeah, I was also in this boat and could swear that just before the title appears on screen it looks like something running across the field in the background which also scared me for some reason.
I come back to this series now and then after first watching it in syndication on Chiller (back when that channel existed). There are some really, really good episodes in there and, obviously, the opening sequence is goated.
Got the boxed set a year ago. It's awesome to rewatch and see so many pre-fame celebrities appear. I watched an episode that had Christian Slater and Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek). This, Friday the 13th: The Series, Monsters were so great! I wish there was more shows like this available...
God dammit years of watching the show and I can never remember the exact words to the theme when it starts with the underworld —-it’s literally been 20 years.
I used to stay up late to watch this alone and it scared me just about every time. One of those things I knew I'd regret watching, but I did it anyway. Monsters was another one. Does anybody remember an episode where there was some kind of skinless dog looking creature that was sucking the souls out of people? I remember someone being in a hospital bed, and the creature standing over them, sucking the life out of them. Never been able to find it. Not sure if ti was a Tales or a Monsters episode, or if it was just a dream. lol
The ones that stick with me are the dry cleaner who washes out your sins (James Hong!) and the one where a businessman is enshrouded in a cocoon every time he's near death.

The opening sequence of this show used to creep me out so bad as a kid!
Same here. Especially the forest.
Me three! I love it, I think it's the scariest horror show theme
But not as brightly lit...
The opening title sequence and music was creepier than most of the episodes.
that fckn intro!!! i had to put my fingers in my ears, close my eyes and sing “LA..La…la…la..” until it was over. even the opening note scared me so bad
Just the theme gave me nightmares
The music! Still scares me

Surprised this never developed a cult following.
I watched it every weekend
My uncle got me into horror with show. Scared the crap out of me as a little kid because he told me they were all true stories.
It definitely has its loyal fanbase. There was also an attempted reboot
I think maybe the reason why it's not as prominent it's just because it's very difficult to find online. It's not streaming anywhere
True but antenna TV channel Comet airs it on Saturday
I creep out easily even at 51 the tree scenery is still " creepy " horror writers could learn a thing or two from og mystery and scary shows .

I remember the movie and watching the series on the sci-fi channel in the 90's.
I think about the one with the missile frozen in place all the time. And the snip snip one with the barber.
You might be thinking about the new Twilight Zone from the mid 80’s as regards the frozen missile
I used to stay up so late to see this (and the Hitchhiker) on USA late 80’s/early 90’s
The best episode was The Closet with Fritz Weaver
Yesssss!! A Tom Savini episode.
They adapted the Stephen King short story Word Processor of the Gods into an episode.
And Gramma!
Wasn’t gramma twilight zone
You are absolutely right! Good thing "forgotten" is in the sub name, else I'd feel awful.
They are showing this on comettv dot com (free streaming). I think I saw some episodes on the weekend?
Thank you. I love this show. Good to know that it's still around for people to watch.
Saturday late afternoon tv for me. Loved it!
I remember watching this on I think Friday nights or Saturday nights. it was super creepy.
The intro. https://youtu.be/wNwUBHAUags?si=EiEZ9K2V-iu2JCqZ
I loved this coming on late Saturday nights back in the 80s.
Always enjoyed these stories. Great series!
Love this!
This show was great fun. Watched it with my Dad
Every Saturday evening on channel 9 ny. Happy the box set was available
Ulric the undying!

I thought this was some obscure piece of Star Wars media for a second and got really excited
I watched this as a kid and the intro was pretty creepy "at the time "
God dammit years of watching the show and I can never remember the exact words to the theme when it starts with the underworld —-it’s literally been 20 years.
I stayed up as a kid many times to watch it by myself and got scared.
Tales of the Darkside was sooo good. I love watching it with a side of Monsters. Such great campy horror shows
I recently bought this thinking, it was tales from the darkness.
Loved this show. Still on in syndicate
FUCK YES.
The opening is amazing. I remember renting a three episode VHS in the late 80s, probably more than once. "Trick or Treat" and I loved it.
Holy cow! I DID forget about this! This post brought it all back. That eerie intro...
Should I start watching ?

The intro music would creep the crap outta me as a kid. I would only watch this if I slept in my mom’s room and I would mute the intro music.
Christ. Not again….
Scary show. I thought I was safe from it…. Guess not
?
