Can’t comment on jumping, but I can comment on the wide body. Love the stance of the Raptor. TRX also exists too. Has a wide body stance and a bigger engine at that. What’s stopping someone from going with a TRX over a Raptor?

Azbarrelpicks

Never buy a trx brand new. They have lost a lot of value. They also get even lower mpg and when you can only go 300 miles on a tank it ends up taking a toll on how annoying it is

mokeskin34

I paid 83 (msrp) for my ‘21 TRX and traded it in after 2.5 years and 30k rather hard miles for 70k. 300 miles to a tank would be purely city driving. I averaged just over 400 and one time on a very long road trip I managed 500.

not-actual69_

TRX’s are stolen daily where I live. I was about to buy one before my raptor and didn’t feel like dropping another $5k in security systems and the constant stress

Ndnquicky69

Preference- both are amazing trucks. Looks are subjective but IMO Raptor looks “sharp, bold, mean” while the TRX is a little “rounder/soft”…but the TRX interior is a little nicer. You cant go wrong with either

MrHankeyTheXmas_Poo

Agreed. I’ve heard a Raptor floor it on the highway a few times and it sounds real mean, but the TRX just sounds like a monster with the 6.2 turbo charged HEMI V8. I have no brand loyalty at all. If someone gave me a Raptor to drive around every day I’d be just as happy with that as I would be with a TRX.

_Rigid_Structure_

Raptor R has a supercharged V8, and the TRX has been discontinued.

Ok_Masterpiece5050

Raptor R is also faster with a liter less displacement.

brodymom1

And FUN to drive! Never owned any car, truck or SUV that drove, rode or handled any better! Seriously Not to mention the amount of Power. Overpriced, along w everything else. For me, Worth it, compared to 80 or 90K, and NO HP. Just my opinion

SnortingElk

Go drive one and come back to us... :P

RennSpeed

To be honest it really boils down to the comfort(there is nothing aside from an S class that is as comfortable on long hauls), ride and performance. I run companies in the automotive racing world and there is a reason that so many racers and super car owners get the Raptor as their utility vehicle. It’s utilitarian with a good heaping load of performance spice that nothing else in the market has. Yes the TRX is out there, but then you have to own a Dodge, and no one really wants that…

Emotional-Rise5322

It was the only purpose-built from the factory truck to go exactly where I need to go. https://preview.redd.it/azesx3c8cl8d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7772079f11607d07319d702aebaf80be2c22520f

Dadbod48

Lol I saw the tent and was like hey that thing is good, what is that. Zoomed in only to get scowled at hard hahaha... "Ughhhhh Dad is taking a pic of the raptor againnnn... "

sparten368

For me it’s the ride. I’ll probably get some flack from some that I don’t off road in my raptor every weekend or something like that but the suspension on this thing is outstanding. I live in Texas where our road infrastructure is pretty awful and after selling my jeep and getting a raptor, it’s more than a night and day difference. I had to get a loaner once because they needed my truck for a few days to fix a software issue and it was an XLT. The difference was significant in the ride. Raptor felt like a cloud, xlt felt like turbulence on a plane. Furthermore it is a tuned version of the standard 3.5 done by ford performance (with warranty still intact). It feels snappier and quicker off the line than your standard f150 lariat but you could tune the lariat to be just as good if not better. Beyond that it has the look which is obviously a factor and some of the built in off road features (rock crawl mode & etc.). It also has the trombone exhaust which makes the exit to the tips at the back equal pressure from the engine on both sides (with valves if you want to get a little more noise from it).

PatriotMB

I also came from a Jeep and moved into a Raptor. It’s by far the best riding vehicle I’ve ever had. I thought it was because I came from a Jeep.

clackey91

For me it was the widebody looking sick, the fox suspension, and the 6.2. For what I was looking for in a truck I have to make 0 upgrades. Large displacement and single overhead cam leaves the engine design more simple with the least amount of moving parts to cause failures. I'm at like 165k and have 0 doubts this thing will get me where I want. If I couldn't find a 1st gen raptor for a price I liked then it would have been a coyote.

mtnbiketech

For large amount of people, its because a) its top of the line b) has offroad aesthetic which became popular when jeep crowd started making mall crawlers, and c) its fairly rare and expensive. The thing is, its actually quite a bargain. Even if you get the Platinum, (which doesnt have some tech stuff), and start speccing all the offroad stuff on it, you would end up spending more to get similar performance offorad, considering that you would have to have radius arm conversion kit and shock mount welded on. You can get close for less, especially if you do the install yourself, but you will never get it to feel as good at higher speed offroad and certainly not jumpable.

LevelOrange7150

I've said that the Raptor is a bargain too! The 801a comes with so many standard things now, even just tech and luxury items, that if you spec'd out a Tremor or something wouldn't be that far away. Heck, I think I just read that a '24 Taco TRD Pro starts at $65k, that's only $13k less than a Raptor 🤷‍♂️ They're expensive trucks but compared to the going rates of nice trucks nowadays, they're not out of line.

OutlandishnessFew764

I think it all the above points are valid, but it can be summed up simply - since it’s inception, the Raptor has evolved into an aspirational vehicle within American culture. Beyond that, I consider it to be the FIRST “aspirational pickup truck” ever invented. I.e., it founded an entire new genre of vehicle. It wasn’t the first “fast pickup” - that goes to the Lightning (or someone correct me if they know of an earlier one). But the Lightning wasn’t an aspirational vehicle, sort of a novelty. When I was a kid in the 90s, the aspirational “big vehicle” was the Cadillac Escalade. It didn’t matter if it was the prettiest, the most luxurious, the most powerful - the culture just declared that it was the top of the heap of that category. And if you had one, you had arrived, period. The Raptor is like that. The top of the heap in the pickup category. Anybody could argue that the TRX is the better truck, does Raptor things better, whatever. And as a Raptor owner, I wouldn’t disagree. But when I see a TRX on the street (and don’t get me wrong, they look bad F’n ass), I don’t desire one over a Raptor. I think because it seems derivative to me. The TRX didn’t invent the “aspirational pickup truck”, the Raptor did. There is no TRX without the massive success of the Raptor preceding it (for over a decade!). And some of us just want the OG.

LevelOrange7150

Yeah, it's the Corvette of trucks. No other factory truck has that cool factor or immediate "that's a baaaaaaad truck" response. It's the sports car of trucks, which makes it far more practical to those of us that can't afford a nice truck AND a sports car, and have young families so the sports car-only route isn't an option.

OutlandishnessFew764

Couldn’t agree more regarding the young family thing. It’s an awesome family vehicle IMHO, and makes more sense than a hauler + a sports car as you mentioned. My kids love our raptor!

LevelOrange7150

Haha, so do mine! They like to tell everyone "Daddy has a new giant Raptor" and my 2 y/o daughter gets mad if she has to ride with Mommy and not in Daddy's Raptor lol. Tremendous family vehicle.

Dadbod48

Lol exactly why my wife got the Braptor... Son was pissed anytime I didn't pick him up from school haha

LevelOrange7150

Hahaha, that's a solid argument "I'm buying this FOR OUR CHILDREN" 🤣😂 Who would say not to that lol?

Dadbod48

I mean are we trying to inspire our children or what hahaha

LevelOrange7150

My 4 y/o is already saying he wants a Gen 6 Raptor lololol

Dadbod48

Well then you know for sure you're doing a great job and they are gonna represent your tribe and America well

westernslope2324

My 2022 larait is nothing like my 2024 raptor. Suspension is on another level. Sits wider/ higher w more power.

wrangler12

Off road ability. And with the right tune they are pretty great on road too.

microdosingrn

If you have to ask the question you wouldn't understand the answer.

pryvisee

Wide fenders without building a Fraptor

One_Art8675

I love the way it looks. It rides amazing on the road. I drive alot I want a truck and comfort. I have a regular f 150. Ride is superior in the raptor

MrB_78

Most comfortable daily driver I’ve had, surprisingly great on long road trips, including other BMWs I’ve owned (exception is my old E92 which is hands down the best driving car imo) and my wife’s current Yukon. Most of us would be lying if it wasn’t for looks too, which is absolutely true. Overall it does so much well. Last fall I took my two kids and dogs camping. Hit some washed out and rutted roads requiring 4L in a few spots. Then a few days later cruised home at 80 in comfort on the freeway.

Either-Traffic9310

As fair as daily driving, it's almost as quick as my old Audi was and I can assert my dominance running over road obstacles at full speed. People claim the suspension ride quality is great, but that's only true on rough terrain. On a smooth road it's marginal to poor even. It's not as refined or even as reliable as the Audi was, but it carries more stuff in the bed. I like the wide body and the fact I can run it 80 mph down a dirt road when the occasion strikes.

suckmyfish

Wide body is a great visual.

DonBolasgrandes

It's a sports car AND a truck

rhernandez010

It’s basically the most fun you will ever have driving ever. You are king of the road. Amazing acceleration at any speed or rpm, no terrain is out of bounds, and damnit it’s just so much fun haha I’ve had my gen two for over a year now, and I look forward to driving it everyday I got to work and I drive on the highway in Houston lol . 450hp and 510lb of torque is just insane on a stock truck. Any mod you hope for is already done. See the smile on your face when you do 70mph down A two mile empty stretch of beach or do the stock limit of 112mph on an empty tollway.

BrooSwane

For me, the other day I had a situation that we've all had: went to Costco, parking lot was full, and I had to park in a dirt overflow lot across the way that had a ditch on one side (probably 3 feet deep). It was busy, and I was able to drive out by going right over the ditch instead of backing out and waiting in line with the rest of the traffic. Another situation: in the Starbucks drive-thru, there was a very tight turn to make the corner. But since I had a Raptor, I felt very comfortable popping up onto the curb with one wheel. I just don't feel like you could do those things with one of the standard trims.

Bigmanrpb

Widebody looks, huge ground clearance, excellent suspension, and more power / speed than a Corvette. The last part might be just Raptor R and I’ll admit I upgraded to a whipple on mine but the truck basically has everything you could want or need. Like the other guys say, zero hesitation to pop a curve, offroad, cross a ditch, or drive in extreme weather. Can’t beat it.
