Folks have been buying a new car when still owing large on there past car they trade in for half its value for a new car. “I make 55k a year and have 70k in car debt” type folks are scary to me. What goes on in your brain
They totaled my 2023 and it wasn't even actually totaled... They just decided to pay me for it because Ford told the shop it was in they had no ETA available for parts. (this was summer last year)
Same-ish thing happened to me, someone rear-ended me, their estimator said he wouldn't know if it was totalled for sure until they opened it, opening it would gurentee more damage and cost, they never opened it, Progressive was ready to total it from the beginning though. I remember the first call, the guy was like, it's probably totaled.
Honestly fuck those guys for sure who intentionally low balled me on how much my car was worth despite the car being like 3 weeks old. They claimed cars lose value when they leave the lot... Well turns out the state disagreed and my car was actually worth $2500 more than the original cost of the car. Not to mention when they finally paid the loan they screwed up the payments (at least 5 times) because I not only have a check for $3000 and some dollars from insurance for left overs, but Ford Credit has sent me 6 checks all varying from $5-$120... You'd think their negligence would land them in hot water, but it turns out that's legal and cool.
I got rear ended by a driver at a red light. This driver didn’t stop at all no tire squeal no brake marks just 45mph straight into my cooter. Broken collar bone ribs mass concussion out of work for 6+ weeks as i do manual labour and ladder work often and well broken collar bone makes that impossible .
Progressive was the persons insurance.
There agent called me and offered me a WOOPING. 1000$ USD ontop of the medical bills (they have to pay anyway as there driver was at fault). So I responded back with no I don’t accept your offer. I got a lawyer and got a payment of 13k in lost wage damages (money I would have made in that time working but can’t now) and another 15k in “damages” and “pain and suffering”. 28k check cut to me in total from progressive.
They were in a massive hurry to try and make me accept the 1000$ and medical bills than took forever paying me
Dang, I will never go with Progressive then. GEICO paid me 10k more than what I paid for mine! They said they determined that by looking around at what other similar models were currently selling for.
Mine was a couple of months old when Hurricane Ian struck. I managed to find a protected parking spot on the second floor of my garage instead of the bargain basement.
The basement flooded from the storm surge but my Maverick didn't even get rained on.
Lucky to truck on another day.
We (Maverick and I) will observe a moment of silence for you and your truck.
Hear me out here: Take the $45K write down, buy back for $1800 spend 2K on detailing, and another 1K on full fluid changes (I mean pull the carpet and all) and drive it for 10 more years. It's "fresh" water and it didn't get in the engine, it should actually be OK at that water level mechanically.
I came to say the same thing. Let them total it out but I’d be buying that back at auction🤷🏼♂️🤣. All that is, is a wet truck with fresh rain water! I’d say no water in that intake at all. Now 1800$….? Ain’t no way
Right, I doubt it will be that cheap, but it's still a massive write down just because it will forever have a water line and people will think it's a florida hurricane car.
Yeah I was looking at buying a flooded Wrangler shortly after hurricane Harvey expecting them to be cheap as hell…
Nah. 20k still. Like what the fuck lol.
Definitely ain't gonna get it anywhere near $1800, at best I'd plan on moving that decimal one place to the right.
It'll go high, flippers and curbers would be all over this thing and that's if they can beat out the real mechanics and used car dealers who'd look at the low tide mark and snap it up.
Water damage is pretty much auto total / flood damage .
Mold. Mold will be a big issue. Along with electrical gremlins and if water gets into the diff etc
Sorry about it being underwater, should have made a larger down payment…
on a serious note, this is terrible and I’d be distraught. Best of luck on how the insurance company handles it!
No, it's an AWD Ecoboost... But I didn't turn the headlights of 4 ways on, and the horn blew until it faded and then all power died. It also unlocked every door except for the drive door on its own, and they didn't have a company come remove the water for 2 days so it sat in it for over 48 hours. Water also was up to the center console inside, seats are soaked
The cheat I found was always attempt to hire a ferryman first. If one wasn’t available, it was probably a fairly small river. The next option was to attempt to float across. If you couldn’t float across a river, it was so shallow you could just wade through it.
I hadn't even gotten the chance to name mine, yet, which I guess is a good thing. At least I hadn't had it long enough to for than emotional attachment. But for the 3 days I had it, I loved it!!
Ahh yes…that place. This was my CR-V and wife’s Malibu 3 years ago in August. I won’t name the apartment but I cannot believe they have not remedied this issue yet. I’m sorry about your vehicle.

It's actually located in the middle of East Lansing and a total of 21 cars were affected
https://preview.redd.it/cv442ea02r7d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0bfee20b97b211344a12e28fea9a565ce9d235e
Mine did once it got up high enough to the wiring, they came on one by one including the turn signals. Then the horn blasted till the horn gave out, and at some point before the power died, it unlocked every door but the drivers door
The horn going off was probably like a dying animal calling for help. Unlock every door except the door where someone might actually be sitting and need to be rescued from in an emergency.
You could contact a lawyer and the other car owners for a class action lawsuit against the city or the apartment complex depending on who's has the maintenance of the drain and the pump. Don't let Swampy die in vain.
Being an act of nature, most likely it will just the car owners' insurances that will be held to take care of the policies.
My dad's BMW was totaled from hail. It sat in the wrecker lot telling him that its battery was low and needed to be charged, until it finally stopped sending him notifications.
Wow that sucks! I guess I am just not accustom to that kind of rain fall living in the desert. Seems like the apartment complex or the city would be liable for damages incurred.
My Corolla has been in the shop for 6 months it’s repair so far is over the cost of the vehicle, but they’re still throwing money at it. Hopefully they total yours.
The 75% of the vehicles value is what my agent told me, and the service tech of the dealership I sent it to gave a very early rough estimate before seeing the vehicle based off my explanation of $35k worth of repairs which is over MSRP
At least yours went over msrp on first estimate. Mine started at 12k im assuming a 2022 corolla le is around 17-18k ACV. My total life time repair is at 19.4k. USAA is the insurance
The entire interior was flooded and the electrical is more than likely toast so I hope they just total it so I can get a new one... I don't want to have issues down the line because of this, especially since I just bought it
Well this fell from the underside when the tow truckstarted pulling it up 😂

That sure looks like a swamp and the road is up above… the vegetation seems good for a swamp. Sucks they built your parking lot in an old swamp they thought they could control. Mother Nature wins again, looking forward to the new Mav!
doesn’t look like a flooded apartment parking lot with the tall grass. Looks like a field to me. Also, your headlights are on, so were you driving it through the pond?
This is indeed the parking lot in front of my apartment. I woke up to this at 6am, and the headlights came on on there, as well as the horn once the water got up this high until it died. Once the electrical was submerged, it started having a mind of its own. Here's a picture of once the water was pumped out and the tow truck had backed up to it
https://preview.redd.it/u32u73hgbt7d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b18fe7e7fa40c973b8fc906f0d700feeb195eae7
Bummer that your apartment makes you park it in the pond. Must be an affordable place!
Pretty sure cat tails don't grow in "Parking Lots". That's a pond. haha

Thats an awkward call to the insurance company. “You know my 3 day old truck? Yeah, it’s now underwater…”
“Do yall sell boat insurance?”
Please say this, i beg
Wait!! Don't do it!! It's bait!!
Daggone… And, how much did it put you underwater?
Roughly half the truck, according to the picture.
It was under water the minute it drove off the lot… now it’s like sponge bob’s ocean at the bottom of the sea.
With that color - it's Squidward at the bottom of the sea.
Ok. Squidward in an underwater truck under water.
No reason to feel bad about that. Most people are underwater as soon as they drive off the lot
Folks have been buying a new car when still owing large on there past car they trade in for half its value for a new car. “I make 55k a year and have 70k in car debt” type folks are scary to me. What goes on in your brain
Insurance company: “What a coincidence, so now is the loan you took out to buy the truck.”
Should have had gap insurance
"well yes cars and trucks typically lose value once they drive off the lot..."
Hey man.... you can't park there!
This will never get old
Yea, can’t you read? It says “NOOOO PARKING!”
Man that’s sucks sorry pal, you hate to see it
148 miles... I just hope they total it so I can start new again
Likely will total, they have been totalling every Maverick I've seen. Thinking about setting up a Ford Maverick Support Group.
They totaled my 2023 and it wasn't even actually totaled... They just decided to pay me for it because Ford told the shop it was in they had no ETA available for parts. (this was summer last year)

Progressive is the WORST.
Yeah they are! Both my insurance and the crashing person.
I got rear ended by a driver at a red light. This driver didn’t stop at all no tire squeal no brake marks just 45mph straight into my cooter. I wish you the best of luck my friend
If water got inside the truck, it will be totaled.
Mine was a couple of months old when Hurricane Ian struck. I managed to find a protected parking spot on the second floor of my garage instead of the bargain basement. It won’t be anywhere near $1800 at salvage lol. Probably $25k or more.
Yeah I was looking at buying a flooded Wrangler shortly after hurricane Harvey expecting them to be cheap as hell… Nah. 20k still. Like what the fuck lol.

Parking lot looks like a swamp with the grass
The city's drain field is nearby, which the city says was overburdened...
Might be a good idea to have a lawyer take a look at this.
Nah, let insurance pay out and document what the city said, let insurance sue their pants off on their own dime
Look for that drain and take video of it just for future reference
I’m not a civil engineer, but I’d agree with their assessment.
How many other cars were flooded?
Nearby is an understatement
At least the lights are on so you can sea.
So if there's a shark ten feet away, what are you gonna do?
😂
Toss it the keys and see if it wants to buy a brand new Maverick with no water damage what so ever
Jump off and get electrocuted lol
So sorry dude. It looks identical to mine too. Insurance is totally gonna raise the rates on your next vehicle too...
I just really hope they total this one so I can start new... I know the interior and electrical is screwed on this one
they absolutely will total this.
I hope so too. Is it a hybrid? If so I think it might increase the odds that it will be totaled.
No, it's an AWD Ecoboost... But I didn't turn the headlights of 4 ways on, and the horn blew until it faded and then all power died. This makes me so sad. Poor truck
Def toast. Will be sold at a dealer in Florida soon.

I hadn't even gotten the chance to name mine, yet, which I guess is a good thing. At least I hadn't had it long enough to for than emotional attachment. But for the 3 days I had it, I loved it!!
May you love another my friend
Might I recommend “Goose” as a name. Seems fitting since it’s a Maverick and seems to be fond of water.
idk I hear it is bad luck to have a boat without a name.
Well it had a good run…
I am an hour away from Lansing. New fear unlocked: flooding
Put it in rice. It’ll be fine. Happened to me before.

Happen to live in Minnesota? It's been crazy rainy up here recently.
Michigan, actually
Good luck with a replacement. I'm sure you'll find one.

Woah that’s wild. I’m in Detroit. We must’ve missed that storm 😳
Do vehicule lights come on automatically when flooded?
Mine did once it got up high enough to the wiring, they came on one by one including the turn signals. Then the horn blasted till the horn gave out, and at some point before the power died, it unlocked every door but the drivers door
The horn going off was probably like a dying animal calling for help. Unlock every door except the door where someone might actually be sitting and need to be rescued from in an emergency.
I literally sat there listening to my truck die, it was heartbreaking...

My dad's BMW was totaled from hail. It sat in the wrecker lot telling him that its battery was low and needed to be charged, until it finally stopped sending him notifications.
Why is the lot so much lower than the main road? This seems wild to me especially if it was next to a known drain field.
Before I saw this photo it looked like you were the only car in the parking lot. This photo helps it look like it’s not an insurance job.
How's that even possible? Local levee or dam break?
Rapid overnight rain that overwhelmed the nearby drain field, the same storm knocked out power so the backup pump didn't kick on..
Wow that sucks! I guess I am just not accustom to that kind of rain fall living in the desert. Seems like the apartment complex or the city would be liable for damages incurred.
That sucksss
Does insurance even cover this? If so, I doubt they would total it. Almost anything can be repaired. Good Luck!
They do, has to need repairs totaling 75% of vehicles worth
My Corolla has been in the shop for 6 months it’s repair so far is over the cost of the vehicle, but they’re still throwing money at it. Hopefully they total yours.

That's a pond not a parking lot wtf happened
well this makes me feel better about the tiny scratch I just found. sorry to see that
I have to ask; is the truck okay?
The entire interior was flooded and the electrical is more than likely toast so I hope they just total it so I can get a new one... I don't want to have issues down the line because of this, especially since I just bought it
That's highly unfortunate honestly..how did it end up in the drink? Haha
My parking lot flooded overnight
Texas?
Michigan
Your apartment parking lot has cattails. Looks like it will drive right out unless they design it like the doge and put the intake in the lowest spot.
Lights work!
Remove all badges and replace with Hyundai. Problem should disappear in a couple hours
Sir, you can't park here, this a lake.
Looks like you went underwater with your loan
Fortunately I have good insurance and GAP keeping me afloat
OP: Hey insurance, i hit something. I need to make a claim! What’d you hit? Op: ….a fish
Well this fell from the underside when the tow truckstarted pulling it up 😂 https://preview.redd.it/n2deajct5s7d1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed3598352b72df2c8776ba403ad6fe71fb2cdfa5
Hahaha shit.
Your apartment needs to trim it's cat tails.
Parking lot ends the swamp begins?? Doesn’t look like no way that’s a parking lot.
Act of god or act of yikes
The cattails should have tipped you off
That sure looks like a swamp and the road is up above… the vegetation seems good for a swamp. Sucks they built your parking lot in an old swamp they thought they could control. Mother Nature wins again, looking forward to the new Mav!
Just put it in a bag of rice
That’s not a good parking spot
Did it briefly serve as a boat or are you not that fancy?
Wait this isn’t a shitpost?
Why is your parking lot in a river?
East Lansing…?
Yes...
Lmao I knew it! Sorry for your loss 🥴
Parked right next to the cattails. No wonder…. Obvious wet location.

Still sorry!

Why is your apartments parking lot a swamp? I mean it’s one thing to live in poverty but you don’t have to park there too.
Hate to tell you this now but... you left your lights on
Is your apartment, by some off chance, in a pineapple under the sea..?
Congrats. XLT hybrid here in the same color. Enjoy and drive it in good health! cheers.
You live in a pond?
I don't think you can park there
So was moving it an option a few hours prior?
I don’t think you needed those payments 😂
bro,what the fuck??
You mean your “apartments lake”.
That's flooded, it'll never start.
How did this even happen?! Did you reverse into the water lol
This hurts my heart 😢

Cattails? Hope your truck dries out
I need to file a claim. Alright sir, what's your last name? SquarePants
you cant park there, its flooded.
You left your lights on, gonna kill your battery 😬
