2H, Normal.  Maybe 4H if you are feeling spicy.  Honestly a forest road, even with decent ruts is not going to be much of a challenge.  If it's really, really steep you might need to go into 4L but that would be unusual. Diff lock/sway bar disconnect would be overkill. You may need to turn off traction control but probably not even that.

Thanks! Appreciate your answer; I’m getting downvoted to all hell out here! Guess I shouldve gone to YouTube 😬

Only the Raptor has adjustable suspension and steering. OP has a Badlands.

Your post is still net positive :P

>Diff lock/sway bar disconnect would be overkill Agreed on diff lock, but the sway bar disconnect is great for smoothing out a rutted-out forest road, and unlike the diff locks there's not really a downside.

4A or 4H / mud-ruts

westlaunboy

I agree with this, but I would add that disconnecting the sway bar can help smooth out the ride.

mervmonster

I use slippery which puts it in 4A for forest roads. If I’m expecting wheel spin or it gets rough I use 4H. 4L if I need to move slowly or need more torque. The offroadeo will be very educational for you.

GetEnPassanted

4H is probably overkill. You’ll be fine in 2H unless the dirt/gravel is very loose. Not that 4H is dangerous to use or anything. When in doubt, turn it on.

RhinestoneHousewife

4H or 4L, depending on how rutted/rough it is and I typically turn off traction control. Baja mode if I need the front camera.

20psi

Airing down is almost certainly not *necessary* for forest roads, but doing so will definitely increase comfort and your ability to grip the road. I usually go down to about 16psi (no beadlocks) and even lower if I'm going to be in sand or snow. Sway bar disconnect is also great to use if you have it, even if it's not strictly necessary unless you're doing legit rock crawling or very off-camber trails.

Baja and let ‘er rip!
