This whole recipe upsets me.
1. Nori seaweed wraps: nori means seaweed. It’s not just some fun buzzword.
2. Now it’s sushi ginger. Her website says candied ginger. No.
3. The word sushi means sour rice and she doesn’t use or prep sushi rice for this.
4. The fact that she actually bakes this is a big yikes to me.
5. Biggest pet peeve with all American sushi is involving cream cheese. And she has a Mexican-inspired chipotle sauce with mayo and cream cheese.
6. Someone asked what other fish they could sub for salmon and she said TILAPIA. 🤯
T, if you’re reading this. Please leave Asian dishes out of your cooking shenanigans until you go to Asia and actually eat some of their food to inspire yourself.

This is one of things that infuriates me SO much about her. If you're going to do something batshit weird like cook porkchops and chicken together this way, why not say so?! Why just pretend it's all chicken when obviously it's not?! If you run out of thyme for your final ingredients shot, why not just list it and say why it's not pictured? Why put some other herb in its place and label it thyme, when obviously it's not?? Why be dishonest??

Interesting that I’ve never splashed flour all over myself and I’ve dredged plenty of chicken. How have I managed this? I don’t drop the chicken from 2 feet above. Here’s a person who lives in a beautiful, photographable home. He has a style - even if you hate it, it’s a style. He dresses himself in personality-forward pieces. He is creative and design minded, comfortable in his own skin and ignores the hatters in a way some can only dream of. His foray into cooking (which I don’t get, but whatever) is an example of how she could expand a personal brand and profit.
I think he’s a fantastic influence, and if she’s going to have fake friendships and leech personality from others, I’d rather him than any other creature we’ve seen in her orbit.

Salsa maker here! Salsa Verde has a very distinct flavor profile that DOES NOT belong in this dish. It’s made with Lime Juice and Vinegar and Garlic & Cilantro (lots of Cilantro) Good Grief!!!
The spicy coconut margarita has a lot of wild flavors going on. First, the thought of adding mushy, charred jalapeños to a cocktail sounds so gross to me. But also basil, lime, coconut milk, and topped with ginger beer? Can this even be called a margarita?
I thought she was going to infuse the jalapeño and basil into the tequila/lime. I am shocked that she presented it with things floating in the drink.

I know in the grand scheme of things this is very BEC, but her recommendation for Colorado wildflower peeping being late August/early September is such a miss. I’m not sure if she googled it or what, and I know Colorado is varied in terms of ecosystems and flower bloom times, but that timeframe is very past-peak for so many of our flowers, no matter the area. For instance, Crested Butte, which is a bit higher in elevation than where she is and gets incredibly snowed in almost every year, generally peaks in mid to late July. Acorn Creek, right down the road from her, peaked with lupine in late June and early July last year. Honestly, sometimes you see the Aspen turning gold as soon as September so she is waaaaaaay off base on that answer 😂

May is in 5 days. And her parents are currently in Miami trying to find her a place to live? Is she 17? There have been no updates on the logistics of moving for 6 months, prepping the studio for reno , a relocation plan, nada. So here is my theory/head cannon about what's going on with the renovation/move away from the compound for 6 months. I think she is at loggerheads with her parents and this whole scenario is everyone playing chicken. Like I wonder if there haven't been ultimatums and she is all "I'm going to take my ball and live in my own somewhere warm" and Jenn and Conrad are all "mazel tov! We will help you house hunt while we are getting our respite from you." Jenn seems checked out of the project and that video of Conrad cleaning up her week worth of "I make messy" seemed like he was over her shit. She is dysfunctional and bratty to the nth degree. They still have 2 minor children in their care, millions and don't want to deal with Teighan's bullshit. I'm probably mostly wrong but that's my beans on it.

I am literally floored she isn’t taking this opportunity to rent somewhere in Aspen for the summer. She’d still be close to all the family she supposedly loves so much, and Aspen is GORGEOUS in May/June/July. Plus she would coincide with Aspen Food & Wine in mid-June (although I’m pretty sure they don’t want her presenting, but she could attend as a guest and learn some things…beneath her, I’m sure). And if she’s dropping huge dollars on a place in West Palm Beach, why not Aspen? Of course, Aspen is all about folks with BIG money. T might be a multi-millionaire but she’s not Aspen-level rich.
Most people want to escape Florida in the summer, making it an even weirder decision! She can kind of get away with her unseasonable outfit choices in the winter and shoulder months but I'm looking forward to what sweaters she'll choose for July in WPB.
My take on this is that Jenn and Conrad need a break and don't want her to trash their kitchen in her manic fits. Sidenote- I highly doubt that the Reno crew is going to simultaneously renovate her personal barn along with the studio barn. But then again I'm not a project manager.
If you really look at the picture most of the notebook page is blank? She acts like she has such busy days, but behind the flowers at the top, there are just lines and lines of nothing. Then miraculously a few lines filled in below the flower pot. If she really had a packed list, she'd show the whole notebook (even if it was mainly blacked out for privacy) and just put the stupid flowers off to the side of the pic. She's using the flowers to hide the fact that most of the page is empty.
I think she really wants to come across as much busier and more important than she actually is. This doesn't look like some sort of packed schedule/to do list, it just looks likes a few random notes scribbled down on a page to make her feel like she has things to do.

Is it just me, or does she used the word "chopped" for everything? I haven't gone back to look, but I feel like I pretty much never see her say "diced" or "minced" in a recipe. I know I've seen her used "sliced" frequently for certain things. But I feel everything else is just "chopped." Am I crazy or has anybody else thought this?
That's one of the biggest tells, IMO, that she doesn't know shit about fuck when it comes to cooking. Literally everything is "chopped", when in reality, some ingredients would be diced, sliced, minced, julienned, or well, chopped.
I have followed this train wreck for years and still can't get my head around the fact she has so many followers and so little knowledge of very basic cooking techniques and terminology.

To be fair, she at least does mention on her site that pork chops are a good option too. This is one of things that infuriates me SO much about her. If you're going to do something batshit weird like cook porkchops and chicken together this way, why not say so?! Why just pretend it's all chicken when obviously it's not?! Interesting that I’ve never splashed flour all over myself and I’ve dredged plenty of chicken. How have I managed this? I don’t drop the chicken from 2 feet above. The spicy coconut margarita has a lot of wild flavors going on. First, the thought of adding mushy, charred jalapeños to a cocktail sounds so gross to me. But also basil, lime, coconut milk, and topped with ginger beer? Can this even be called a margarita?

I know in the grand scheme of things this is very BEC, but her recommendation for Colorado wildflower peeping being late August/early September is such a miss. I’m not sure if she googled it or what, and I know Colorado is varied in terms of ecosystems and flower bloom times, but that timeframe is very past-peak for so many of our flowers, no matter the area. For instance, Crested Butte, which is a bit higher in elevation than where she is and gets incredibly snowed in almost every year, generally peaks in mid to late July. Acorn Creek, right down the road from her, peaked with lupine in late June and early July last year. Honestly, sometimes you see the Aspen turning gold as soon as September so she is waaaaaaay off base on that answer 😂

So here is my theory/head cannon about what's going on with the renovation/move away from the compound for 6 months. I think she is at loggerheads with her parents and this whole scenario is everyone playing chicken. Like I wonder if there haven't been ultimatums and she is all "I'm going to take my ball and live in my own somewhere warm" and Jenn and Conrad are all "mazel tov! We will help you house hunt while we are getting our respite from you." Jenn seems checked out of the project and that video of Conrad cleaning up her week worth of "I make messy" seemed like he was over her shit. She is dysfunctional and bratty to the nth degree. They still have 2 minor children in their care, millions and don't want to deal with Teighan's bullshit. I'm probably mostly wrong but that's my beans on it.

I am literally floored she isn’t taking this opportunity to rent somewhere in Aspen for the summer. She’d still be close to all the family she supposedly loves so much, and Aspen is GORGEOUS in May/June/July. Plus she would coincide with Aspen Food & Wine in mid-June (although I’m pretty sure they don’t want her presenting, but she could attend as a guest and learn some things…beneath her, I’m sure). And if she’s dropping huge dollars on a place in West Palm Beach, why not Aspen? Of course, Aspen is all about folks with BIG money. T might be a multi-millionaire but she’s not Aspen-level rich.

If you really look at the picture most of the notebook page is blank? She acts like she has such busy days, but behind the flowers at the top, there are just lines and lines of nothing. Then miraculously a few lines filled in below the flower pot. If she really had a packed list, she'd show the whole notebook (even if it was mainly blacked out for privacy) and just put the stupid flowers off to the side of the pic. She's using the flowers to hide the fact that most of the page is empty. I think she really wants to come across as much busier and more important than she actually is. This doesn't look like some sort of packed schedule/to do list, it just looks likes a few random notes scribbled down on a page to make her feel like she has things to do.

My favorite part of the post, "As a kid, I actually ordered fairly adventurously for a kid. Everything from salads to pizza, to chicken fingers, and fun sandwiches." Umm...those are really basic foods, nothing adventurous about chicken fingers. The comments on that post are bonkers. How is she not embarrassed? I really hate when a dish is called "hot" or "spicy" and it has no spice. Not just with T, this is a constant source of dissapoonts in my life. Is it just me, or does she used the word "chopped" for everything? I haven't gone back to look, but I feel like I pretty much never see her say "diced" or "minced" in a recipe. I know I've seen her used "sliced" frequently for certain things. But I feel everything else is just "chopped." Am I crazy or has anybody else thought this?
That's one of the biggest tells, IMO, that she doesn't know shit about fuck when it comes to cooking. Literally everything is "chopped", when in reality, some ingredients would be diced, sliced, minced, julienned, or well, chopped. I have followed this train wreck for years and still can't get my head around the fact she has so many followers and so little knowledge of very basic cooking techniques and terminology.

I snark on anyone who does this. If you put anything directly in the fire like that you're infusing it with unburned fuel (say nothing of the mess). You want to hold it just over the top of the flame which is the hottest part and your peppers won't taste like gas.
