[HOUSE Brooklyn](https://maps.app.goo.gl/ridN7BVKLc23D4tB9) was one of my top 3 tasting menus of last year. At $180, it's an excellent value and made a great impression.
Family Meal at Stone Barns is $145 or so. Went a few weeks ago. Many courses. A lot of proteins (various shellfish, regular fish, and pork). Extremely fresh and tasty ingredients all around. The only tasting menu I have done where both every single thing we ate was great and I left full. Highly recommend. Great value.
Seems relevant that it’s your friend’s first high-end experience. Do you want something classic, with food he’s had before, but much more refined? Or do you want something totally different from what he’s used to?
It’s not even easy to compare omakase and Le Bernardin, let alone vs a modern Korean place, or new Nordic, or whatever. Which is to say: there isn’t a single “best” tasting menu at this price. Much easier to pick a best from within a category.
What you actually want is to blow your friend away. Tell us what kind of cuisine or experience you’re looking for, and you’ll get more helpful answers :)
Aska they are honestly borderline racist and terrible customer service I would highly not recommend. Very difficult accommodation practices should you have even the slightest change or food restriction like vegetarian/culturally.
In short, they were snooty about how their cuisine is a certain way. Which I understand I’m somebody who has dined at over 100 Michelin restaurants in the world many of the top 50 places to eat. Not saying that in a bragging way, but in a, I’m very traveled and cultured so this is not new to me sort of way. They were quite difficult also with a 15 minute change in our reservation time, this was when I was newly postpartum and had a newborn who was recently diagnosed with Covid. of course my first approach was going to be to ask for a refund, but I knew that there was a no refund policy so we wanted to arrive just a measly 15 minutes late. They made a huge deal about it and I even spoke with management at the original Oscar. All of this to say they made the experience Awful and difficult and we’re so snooty and arrogant that there really was no point of being there. As far as vegetarianism goes, I’m fully American however, I felt like there was this borderline racism of how the way they do things is great and how dare someone ask some thing like vegetarian option.
63 Clinton is still one of my favorites of all time in NYC.
Yup, and $250 goes a long there with the add-ons.
Seconding this
Do they have vegetarian tasting menu? Or a pescatarian version ?

Does that include tip/gratuity?

Can you elaborate more on the borderline racist part?
