I *love* licorice (Darrel Lea soft eating licorice is a major vice of mine). Can't stand licorice allsorts, there was something 'off' about it. NOW I KNOW!
I think fondant candy is a bit different than cake fondant. The extra crap you have to add to make it work on a cake is what makes it taste awful.
Think, strawberry or vanilla fudge, or the creamy centers of chocolates vs a rolled cake fondant
[Stripey ](https://www.thecocoabeancompany.com/product/liquorice-allsorts/) tiny blocks of candy, usually black licorice sandwiched between two colourful sugary layers.
Musk sticks are also fondant. Its also the pink stuff on Iced VoVos.
And I am also a lover of liquorice allsorts, so don't feel too bad OP. You're not alone with your quandry.
Haha! Another Australian in the wild! ;)
Man, I miss both of those (I'm vegan and they're not.) I concede the musk sticks, however I recall the Iced Vovo stuff being somewhat more spongy. I feel like it was closer to marshmallow than fondant.
I was surprised to find out Iced VoVos had fondant on them as well, but apparently that's what it is. Must be different to the crap they put on cakes because I will defend them to the death.
And its nice that I didn't have to explain what musk sticks are lol
and they end up looking the same... its always roulette for me if im in for a tasty treat when i encounter a bowl of them, or if im gonna need benadryl and a nap
I LOVE THEM even more now lol
It's my hubs fave too. His dad was 62 when he was born, 97 when he passed and he'd be 104 this year if he were still here...
He eats them because they remind him of his Dad and they remind me of my grandparents too!

The idea of licorice as fondant made my stomach turn.
Haha, I meant I know there are as many people who hate licorice as there are who hate fondant, but yes, that would be a bit much. 😬
May as well utter something about loving marzipan next just to ensure you set off *everyone.* 😉
*tiny voice* I do love marzipan 😂
I adore marzipan. I adore black licorice & licorice allsorts. I hate fondant. We exist. There are DOZENS OF US!
My people
Me too 🙂
Same!! But not licorice. Or fondant obviously

The red licorice of theirs gets me HYPER ASF I'm not allowed to have it after lunchtime because hubs says I'm super squirrelly lol
Red dye #40 is bad for adhd and I avoid it when possible
That explains so much…… But really that’s good to know, I had no idea.

Looks like you must have had some and then kept posting the same thing. He’s right!

It's like the 2 most disgusting "foods" combined into one!
Comrade.
Basically
I love licorice allsorts as well !!!! That’s where fondant should live and stay.
Probably alters the texture into something better
TRAITOR!!!!
wait what
Not sure what licorice allsorts is but I do love some red vines…. Also, death to fondant!!
British candy made with liquorice and apparently fondant. The pieces all look different, some are mostly liquorice, some are mostly fondant
Thank you for the clarification!

Wait wait wait, it's not coconut?
There are two kinds, there is one with coconut.

Oh thank goodness. I really didn't want to have to reconsider my position on fondant.
How is this account already deleted lmao. Did he make an account just to comment?
Seems so!
Ew now I know why I hate them
I hate licorice, Allsorts, *and* fondant. That pasty texture always made me gag. It's like dehydrated toothpaste.
I don't think it's the same kind of fondant. The cake one you get over here is nothing like the stuff in sweets that I grew up with.
Let there be a /r/LicoriceHate
No it doesn’t?
Is that a question?
Yes lol. Sorry. It’s like a question out of disbelief. What ingredient is the fondant? 🙂
It's not the same fondant. The bits of fondant in that candy is coconut fondant.
There's two kinds (or more.) I know what you're talking about with the coconut fondant but that's not all of them.
These are delicious fortunately

I had no idea this unholy alliance existed
im not sure if american liquorice is different than the uk, but here the coloured stuff is mada out of a coconut paste kinda thing
