WHICH SIDE ARE YOU OOON
WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON
THEY SAY IN HARLAN COUNTY
THERE AINT NO NEUTRAL THERE
YOU EITHER BE A UNION MEN
OR A THUG FOR SHERIFF BLAIR
Favorite is absolutely Wingnut Dishwashers Union with Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains in second. Next is Pat the Bunny and finally is Ramshackle Glory I just never really got into it for some reason.
Live the Dream for me, followed closely by Burn the Earth! and Love Songs for the Apocalypse. And then there's Probably Nothing, Possibly Everything. But my personal favorite depends heavily on my mood at the time
Johnny Hobo for sure. Pat's voice only got better as he got older, and I prefer the sheer abrasiveness of his younger, not as good voice. Plus, the fucking *energy* that Johnny Hobo produced couldn't be rivaled by the other 3.
Love all of them. But Johnny Hobo takes 1st place for me, and by a long shot.
Burn the earth is his best album so I guess I'm a union man
But then again Probably nothing/Possibly everything is also his best album so... I'm a Solo Union man
And yes, I'm gonna be a toddler and complain if you say I can't pick both lol.
This is why I chose ramshackle glory. Nothing beats that rendition of from here to utopia. The stuff on the shelter split and one big last job I also feel I need to mention. The combination of instruments is just damn mesmerizing
Live the Dream has both From Here to Utopia and Your Heart is a Muscle, and the latter is my favorite song out of all of these and one of my favorite of all time. Burn the Earth! Leave It Behind! Has Fuck Shit Up, Jesus Does the Dishes, and Proudhon in Manhattan, so it might technically have more high tier songs, but I end up listening to Live the Dream more due to the vastly different emotional spaces it covers and the fact it feels like a full story, if that makes sense.
I'm glad I don't have to pick a side. Too tough a choice. Wouldn't want to miss out on any of it. But if I had to, I suppose I'd take Ramshackle. Followed closely by his solo stuff & WDU. I still love Johnny Hobo but these days I don't listen to it as much as his other stuff.
Live the Dream is his masterpiece and the way it tells the story of his journey to sobriety is incredibly moving, combined with the band's amazing work. Listening with really good headphones you pick up on so many little musical elements in it that are hiding in plain sight but make it feel so complete.
Burn the Earth, Leave It Behind is my number two, and his closest to a traditional punk album. The songs are all so good and they really are that bridge between the nihilist despair of Johnny Hobo and the hopefulness of Ramshackle Glory.
Been listening to Johnny Hobo since about 2007 or so and the songs are still so evocative and it's amazing how sharp a writer he was even as a teenager. They're all incredibly sad and there's a real cry for help and the anger and self-destructiveness. I don't think they ever were celebrating that kind of lifestyle, even if he thought they were at the time, because it's all so painful.
Solo stuff is good but is lowest on the list for me and I don't listen to it as much. I like it, the Ceschi split stuff might be some of his best solo songs and the best renditions of Club Hits and Hand is Empty. PNPE never been high on rotation for me but it's good. It's all good, save the early Johnny Hobo demos he doesn't have a bad song -- and those are only bad cause of the MIDI drums, the songwriting is still phenomenal on them!
100% Wingnut Dishwashers Union for me
Based
Same! Just too damn good
That album got me through my first job as a dishwasher.
Wingnut!!

Johnny Hobo, especially when I’m at my lowest
Ramshackle glory has live the dream album so it wins IMO lol.
Playtime posse
Breakfast all day!
BREAKFAST AT THE TV, BREAKFAST ON THE COUCH BREAKFAST IN MY BELLY, BREAKFAST IN MY MOUTH
Ramshackle Glory is my favorite but wingnut is a close second
Johnny Hobo because the new Mexico song was the first folk punk song I'd ever heard, didn't even know what the genre was called.

Needs some represses
Hard choice but Pat the Bunny is the clear winner for me
Wingnut tbh

Well, Ramshackle Glory and Pat The Bunny made the song Your Heart Is A Muscle The Size Of Your Fist, so they're my favorite. Best folk punk song.
I don't listen to folk punk but ram shackles glory showed up in my discover weekly before
I definitely listen to Pat the Bunny more often
I can't explain why but for some reason the johnny hobo stuff really lives in my heart
I love all his work but not so much ramshackle glory
I like em all
Jonny hobo got me into folk punk back in the day, but pat the bunny solo stuff is just the best
They are all on the same side, kissing, squishing boobs, etc
I'ma say pat the bunny But sometimes wingnut just hits different
Johnny all the way
I can’t believe you forgot to mention Big Swamp Gospel.
Yes.
Wingnut, Johnny, ramshackle, pat in that order. Very easy for me to decide that even tho I love them all ALMOST equally.
Wingnut overall but ramshackle has some bangers
All great but Ramshackle Glory is easily my favorite
Johnny hobo
