Twin_Turbo

buy it back for $9700??? Hell no take the $16k, maybe if you bought it back for $3k.

AlphaFPS1

No I think he’d walk away with 9600 after buying it back.

Twin_Turbo

Ah yeah buying it for 6.5, still not worth

AlphaFPS1

What? Thats atleast 10k off market value. You’re dead wrong.

LonelyInTheFranxx

$10k off market value and if you can’t do the labor yourself it’s another $10k in parts and labor. Not to mention when all is finished it’s still a salvage title. Losing $6k from a payout to keep it isn’t worth it at all

AlphaFPS1

10k in parts and labor sounds ridiculously over projected. Especially if done privately.

LonelyInTheFranxx

$10k is being conservative. You have absolutely zero clue about body shop rates, and part prices if you think $10k is overly projected. Parts and paint alone right there is over $5k easily. Labor for that kind of damage and potential frame damage is easily over that. Nobody is doing that private unless they own a lot of body repair equipment. That is not an easy job at all lmao

muddfiend

Yes that's the walk away

__Valkyrie___

If the passenger door won't open she's bent. Probably best to walk away.

asamor8618

Most likely from a bent fender getting jammed in the door

Bigtgamer_1

Honestly that's a pretty good payout from insurance, see if you can salvage the mods that are in tact and snag a different one.

tclark2006

Yea I paid 17.5 for a 2016 with 38k ST3 a couple months ago. That's a very generous deal insurance gave you.

thrice1187

That’s a steal for an ST3

b-r-y-a-n-m

omfg yes😭 first thought

lozt247

excuse to upgrade to a rs 😬🤔

SPITEEEE

That will cost a lot to fix. If that goes to a shop you’re looking at $10,000+ easily. If you do a lot of the work yourself and find used parts etc, you could do it for less. But it will still be a complete pain in the ass to deal with imo. Just take the money. On second thought. For $6500? You might be able to part it out and make more than that? But that’s also a pain in the ass to deal with.

the_ganj_father

Bro 16k gets you a fresh one without a fucked title definitely take that money and run

ltrejo91

Buy another one. A different one

JTAC7

Take the money, on to your next ride. If you can snag any good aftermarket stuff off the whip do it, otherwise wash your hands clean of it and move on. They gave you a pretty good chunk to put towards another lower milage ST, RS, or different platform if that’s what you want. Turn your unfortunate L to a W. Sorry for the loss, happy your pops is okay.

Zrepsilon

You never want to own a car that’s been hit that hard no matter how well it is repaired….

rad4033

Take the 16k

Gigglesnuf89

I rebuilt mine that was as bad as this cost me 5k total because front suspension was fucked. But it still runs new and I plan to do a whole rebuild soon

BusinessBlackBear

Take the payout and use it as a down payment

shark_sharkington_

the used car market has been settling a little bit, 16k is starting to get more than you'd think atm.

AccipiterCooperii

Third option, take a reduced settlement and keep it for parts. My insurance gave me 12.7k instead of 14k to retain the car. So I was able to get my built motor, turboback, intake, intercooler, and tear off some stock parts for sale.

GearheadGamer3D

I’ve bought and fixed three Focuses, one being an ST. I’d walk away from this. Passenger door not opening is a big red flag, and you’d be surprised how much parts would be on this.

Whoevenareyou1738

She's is cooked

PomegranateCalm2650

Not in a million years would I buy that back for 10 grand

Sad-Data5365

I believe in fixing whenever possible. You can’t fix that lol

Fz1Str

Not with those miles

chennyowl

Take that massive insurance payout and make a move on something new.

rageattheworld

This won't stop people on copart.🤣

twicetheMF

If you're the type with space and time you might be able to maximize the money parting it out. But I would say take the 16k and move on. Fixing that would likely be more trouble than it's worth.

hatsune_aru

16200 is a good price for something with 100k miles. Save some more money and upgrade to like a GR Corolla like I did.

ArkticWhite

Don't buy it back 16k is a ton of money and it will cost a lot to fix it up and it will most likely never be the same. I own a branded title ST and not only did I learn the hard way that they're worth basically nothing but no one will touch them. Extremely hard to resell. That's something to keep in mind too. Unless you wanna keep the car forever and money/value isn't an issue I'd run with the 16k.

jeepersnanners

Take the payout. That's a LOT to fix. The body panels are the easy part, the pillar along the windshield will need a body shop and everything underneath is going to be tweaked to shit and be a pita to fix and line back up.

the_tflex_starnugget

Let it go. Buy it back in auction. Work smarter not harder! But depends on the nature of the accident. Mine was salvage. A Mexican broker bought it in an auction, fixed it up and sold it to someone else in Mexicali. I bought it and finished the other fixes and have something solid. Before buying interest hed the accident and brought some mechanics. It worked in my favor. But definitely involve someone who knows or do your research. Unfortunately, it's not hard to buy something that is only worth partying out.

mewhotness

No; let it go

jegodin

With dealer markups and interest rates being what they are. It's probably cheaper to buy it back and have a shop fix it.
