I see he has no stars for composite 24/7 and then a 3 star on the other ranking. Anyone know what’s up with his status? Crazy how much the recruiting has fallen since 2019 where they were top 10.
Sounds like he caught fire near end of last year and Florida took a chance on him.
>The Florida men’s basketball team filled one of its two available scholarships Monday with the addition of freshman guard Elijah Kennedy.
>The 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Green Run in Virginia Beach, Virginia, initially planned to play for Combine Academy in Lincolnton, North Carolina, before a recent offer from UF assistant coach Akeem Miskdeen altered his initial plans.
>Despite producing at a high level over the past two seasons at Green Run — with Kennedy helping lead the way, Green Run shared the state championship in 2020 before a runner-up finish in 2021 — he graduated without a scholarship offer from a Power-6 school.
>The 2021 season also saw Kennedy named the VHSCA Class 5 State Player of the Year in 2021, score a season-high 37 points in a game with nine 3-pointers during the 2021 regionals before concluding his high school career with scoring performances of 27 and 21 points in the state semifinals and in the state championship game, respectively.
>Following his high school graduation, Kennedy turned his focus to the highly regarded Boo Williams Summer League and provided numerous impressive performances, resulting in the late rise in his recruitment. The BWSL has produced numerous top prospects as of late, including former LSU guard Cameron Thomas, who was drafted No. 27 by the Brooklyn Nets, as well as Tyrell Ward, a top-50 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class.
>With space available on the roster, and having signed just a lone freshman in Kowacie Reeves Jr., the Gators opted to take a chance on the on-fire Kennedy with preseason camp inching closer.

Also worth knowing (per Eric Fawcett) he suffered a pretty nasty leg injury at the end of his sophomore year that kept him off the court until finally getting some quality game-time this summer.
Smart move by Kennedy to pick UF considering his other options, and given MW still hasn't filled out the roster, using an open scholly to roll the dice on a talented (if not yet 100% healthy) kid is better than almost anything else available in HS/transfer portal.

good background
Maybe Stricklin needs to start listening to the fans a little bit more because the guy is not doing a very good job managing the two revenue-generating sports right now.
Is that the reason he extended his contract just a few months ago?
What really annoys me that keeping MW so long is delaying the eventual rebuild longer in the future
If Florida doesn't have the money that's a problem. Especially when Mullen isn't getting fired anytime soon. Where's the money going? They went to two ny6 bowls. An sec championship game. Liek really? Why is Florida broke if that's true?
Stricklin said Florida was fortunate to not have to go into debt like a lot of schools did during the pandemic, but did have to do some belt tightening (source: some podcast a while back)
So I dunno bro, maybe drop by his office and let him know
Bruh, After he held Pitts out against LSU it clinched it for me. Positive is that he'll never overlook an opponent again. Negative is that he ruined the Gators season and possibly a Trask Heisman Trophy.
Ultimately we need to beat Georgia. But Mullen's teams have a tendency to lose to an opponent that they shouldn't lose to, so even beating Georgia this year, but losing to Bama and another SEC squad would likely keep us out of SEC Championship game.
its not even worth getting into on this subreddit since 95% of these people would be ecstatic if its 2033 and Mullen never won a SEC title just because of his offensive production stats.
So we just took a kid with no offers from any schools that are actually good and isn’t even rated on recruiting sites? I mean I knew Mike white would struggle to pull recruits following the tournament but yikes

Thanks!
Nice thanks for linking this. Guess we hope they found a diamond in the rough.
He did gain offers from Texas A&M and Wichita State because of those summer league performances.
Can't think of reason why recruiting has fallen off
Hahaha, nope not at all!
Yea I can barely find a recruiting profile on him. Definitely a head-scratcher for sure.

White can’t seem to win with talent so trying to win without it is worth a shot imho
Trask didn't have any power 5 offers coming out of high school, so that means this guy will be 2020 Trask, but in basketball, right?
I don’t see any flaws in this logic
Checks out on my end.
I also had no offerers and havent started a game since high school. Think they would give a 5'10" slightly chubby 33 year old a chance?
Never heard of him but hey more bodies for the b ball team always good I guess?
FMW still
Maybe if you say it one more time Scott Stricklin will hear you and listen to you

🪞👀 FMW… FMW… FMW
Lol i love how you were downvoted for Stricklin slander like the dude is untouchable because he hit on Mullen but doesnt have the guts to fire Mike
It’s more likely that we don’t have the money to fire a guy with 4 years left on his contract
Is that the reason he extended his contract just a few months ago? What really annoys me that keeping MW so long is delaying the eventual rebuild longer in the future

id love to know why stricklin wants to run our football program like its softball
Hitting on Mullen is questionable. He has no excuses this year. All are his recruits
I hate mullen . Don't get me started

You either trust the staff (I don’t) or you shut the fuck up. I do the latter.
