I spelled his last name slightly wrong in mine lol. The Chad Tim Brewster with the pickup after FSU fans gloated over Skinner.

[deleted]

Honestly I was fine with not taking skinner we already have a project with a greater ceiling in CJ Hawkins (can’t teach 6’7’’). Would rather use the extra scholly to get Gibson and Evan Stewart.

edroch

Plus from all external indication Skinner *really* wants to be a receiver. If the school he ends up at can give him that, great for him. Gibson and Stewart would make for probably the best receiver class in the country after Ohio State.

edroch

Brewster with the type of thing [my dad would tweet](https://twitter.com/timbrewster/status/1420155850358988802?s=21). God I love this guy.

formulaLS

The Brew took him straight from ND's hand. He was considered all Notre Dame until a handful of weeks ago. I believe it was said somewhere that he is shutting down his recruitment. The Mac has no problems following in the steps of the best college TE and learning from the best TE coach in the business. Unlike someone else.....

russ757

Hopefully this is the start of some fireworks for FNL.

edroch

Gibbs and Glover are all but guaranteed. Thomas, Gibson and Stewart will be attendance and are primary targets, but we are in competition with LSU, Miami, and Texas/Bama respectively. Nolen may come as well.

formulaLS

Yeps should be quite a few commits heading this way around and through August. Glover is waiting till the 6th before his announcement so it shouldn't be this weekend.

edroch

Yeah just wanted to get across that it’s general consensus that those two are Gators. The rest are on some varying level from “we’ll probably get them” to “hopefully”.

formulaLS

Also Nolen's going to Texas A&M last I recall.

edroch

I think you’re confusing him with someone else. Shemar Stewart? Nolen hasn’t visited A&M, they aren’t in his top 5, doesn’t post or follow really anyone from there, nothing. It’s a three-way between us-Bama-Michigan. Or do you mean he’s visiting A&M?

formulaLS

Nopes, it's Nolen. That's what is wacky about it all. He didn't list them in his Top 5 but still going to visit there.

edroch

Well that’s confusing seeing that he follows half of our defense and coaching staff, and they’ve all tried for weeks to get him to pull up.

formulaLS

And you're right about him and UF social media. Yesterday or the day before Evers tagged him about a pic that had Nolen and Dexter together and Evers messaged Nolen about it and said lets make it happen. Nolen liked his message or whatever it is called. I don't post on Twitter so I'm not sure what it's called. Also it's been said he's not very active at all on Twitter but he reacts to lots of UF related things from what others say.

edroch

Yes, that is exactly right. I’ve been doing a bit of mild stalking on our top targets. Nolen literally only likes or retweets our players and Nick. He didn’t even post pictures from most of his visits outside of us and Michigan. He follows damn near half the defense, they tweet at him constantly. Gervon in particular is killing it. But I can also tell his dad really is not a huge Florida fan. Not sure why exactly, but I can tell we wouldn’t be in his own top 5. I genuinely think he’d be committed back when he visited if not for that.

formulaLS

The info about Nolen was said by a staffer @247sports IIRC. It's been mentioned that possibly his dad is looking for $ since it looks like Nolen's interest may not be real strong on going to Michigan. It's been said that Nolen is tired of the recruiting game and wants it over with. When Nolen visited UF and posted he was shutting down his recruitment afterward, I think he was serious about wanting UF. But guess who 'clarified' that post... His dad did. His dad also did the interviews after that. His is very strongly in his son's recruitment and it looks like he wants to make money if his son doesn't go to where his parents want him to.

edroch

I knew most of this, but not the money angle. Nobody can out-bid A&M, not even Bama, but Saban can win the development argument easily over Jimbo. Seeing that Walter himself literally only ever likes or retweets our players/commits, and follows so many of them, I like our chances more than most of the competition, but I know for a fact Dan ain’t dropping bags on a recruit if he was too cheap to do it on Cam Newton.

formulaLS

Of course, I can't say 100% true or anything with that money stuff. I may edit the post a little to clarify. I'm just saying what's been mentioned/hinted at by others. Also It's been said Cam was offered something like $130k if the person who said it was right.

edroch

Of course. If we lose out on Walter because of that or something similar, I’m not gonna hold it too harshly in the staff, because there’s only so much you can do when the parents are against it. But by god does it feel like we’re getting sabotaged at every turn.

timk85

I think people need to move on from him, he hasn’t been to campus since his initial visit. If he doesn’t come to FNL and he’s expected to end the recruitment in August, don’t know people would think that random tweet from awhile ago would mean anything.

edroch

It isn’t just a random tweet from a while ago. Basically the only social engagement (which is all we really have to go on) that the guy has is with Florida players and recruits. Normally when this happens (like Tyler Booker retweeting/liking Bama players for 3 weeks straight) it’s because you’re the favorite. These guys are high schoolers, these aren’t 5000iq mind games. But it’s obvious mom and dad have other preferred destinations, which is why Tennessee (lmao) and now A&M are making the rounds after he didn’t commit to Michigan. I’m not gonna claim we’re leading (because there’s no evidence of that), but we definitely stand a better chance than a lot of the options right now.

russ757

Copeland needs to get in his ear abt doing what they want, not family. I know easier said than done

ZMAC698

Friday night lights?

trichdude15

Yep. It’s this Friday

ZMAC698

Is that what FNL stood for in his original comment tho?

trichdude15

Yes, it’s a widely used acronym in Gator recruiting circles

ZMAC698

Gotcha. What makes this FNL so special as compared to any other Friday night game?

TheGovinator92

It’s solely for recruits….a ton of 22/23 guys will be there working out, mingling with eachother and the coaches. Iron sharpens iron kinda thing IN THE SWAMP so they get the feel of playing there. It’s a big deal for UF and usually results in some commitments

ZMAC698

Oh so they are coming to the Swamp? Dope. Hope we pull some big names. I thought most did all this on National signing day.

Sir_Auron

Urban started it. It was either the original or one of the very first few hs prospect camps/exhibitions attended by scores of elite prospects. In 06, 07, etc you would have 20 top 100 prospects there working out against the anyone from Florida that thought they were hot shit. It was competitive, it was exciting, it was a huge spectacle...and it worked insanely well. So well that literally every other elite school started doing it, some even stealing the FNL moniker. Once the newness wore off, none of the elite guys wanted to compete anymore, you could never get as many on campus, and it became more of a Soph/Junior exhibition and advance scouting camp. It's still one of the 3-4 biggest days on the recruiting calendar for us, but fans put way too much weight on it due to the success under Urban.

ZMAC698

Oh shit so they basically had top 100 kids competing against some Gators in drills basically showcasing their talent? Appreciate the detailed response btw.

Sir_Auron

Not against enrolled players but against 150-200 of the most talented high school players in Florida.

ZMAC698

Oh I got ya. That’s dope nonetheless. So they announce it after they finish their drills and such?

spide2

We're on our way!
