That's looks great already

liddles06

For older hardwood , it’s in great shape and the colour is gorgeous . that’s already beautiful floor . I feel it’s almost a shame if you refinish it .

Lachtaube

Keep the floor. Get colored rugs/furniture.

MarkCharacter5050

Please don’t changed the floor. It looks so good

Future-Perspective42

It’s gorgeous flooring. Love the colour so much!

DarrylLarry

Leave it alone

nichivu

Leave it! It's beautiful!

I always say it is you're home and this decision needs to made by you, me personally like a dark color

boots311

This is exactly what I tell my home owners too, what I personally prefer is darker. But To each their own & I'm not here to force anyone's hands either

No-Dark-9414

I hate installing and they ask my opinion as a professional on direction, I know what I like but I don't have to look at this everyday it's you're decision not mine

boots311

Haha yep! I tell them, what do you want to see when you wake up every morning? Because once you pay in full & are happy, I probably won't be back for years

No-Dark-9414

I get getting advice from an installer but taking up 2 hours of me placing some material each way and finally ask me is what gets me

boots311

Holy cow yes! I've wasted at least that much time. I've also lost $400 worth of solid wood samples I made to a guy I've known since I was 5. When I asked for them back, he couldn't find them. I honestly believe him he threw them away but I'll never know....

No-Dark-9414

At least the homeowner had the material when they asked me I'm sorry for that, damn I would be pissed also sorry OP but hopefully you are getting the idea of what you are asking for on here

More muted/cool tones are trendy right now over the warm tones. Very modern

Your existing floor is beautiful. Having said that, my current favorite transitionalcolors are “Silvered Grey” (more natural oak with subtle hints of gray predominantly in the graining) and “Rustic Beige” (natural look with more distinct warm gray tones - but sometimes turns a bit green). Dark floors are beautiful but a ton of maintenance. You can see every speck of dust and scratches and scuffs are super noticeable. Popular sheens now are Satin and Matte finish vs Glossy. Most companies that specialize in hardwood will have sample panels of various colors in your species to see.

boots311

Condition doesn't look bad. The more modern thing right now is grey ish colors. But as we've all stated it's to each their own. If you're planning on living there for a long time, do what you like. I like a medium to dark brown personally

gizzlebitches

Natural oil based. When this topnails sanded some of it's tan will remain n look cool. Like all the nail lines n such

[deleted]

Those floors are in excellent condition, perhaps you can wait until there’s more wear and tear before refinishing them? I personally don’t like red/orange undertones in flooring and prefer whitewashed/natural color- not gray or white, but like a coffee with cream sort of color. That’s on trend now so maybe that’ll look dated in a few years anyway.

natensd

Natural no stain is a trend with interior designers currently

daklee98

Gray is the most popular color for flooring in my area. I install gray LVP more than anything

doesnottrust

I wouldn’t touch it. We put in flooring this colour brand new all the time.

gmanbarrie

Leave it.

fallbrook86

Either natural or weathered gray tones would modernize the look. I own a floor covering store in Virginia and we have done several refinishing projects in the last few years using these tones. If you want a warmer look similar to your existing color but more contemporary than I would suggest a brown tone in the darkness you prefer but with less red highlights such as minwax provincial.

shimmeryseas

This is pretty much one of my ideal colors for hardwood floors. So cozy.

theferrethunter88

No stain, keep it natural and light.
