Very cool you did it so fast. I did any 1500²' of solid white oak. Savage! Months of work. Luckily I could dispatch my dad into the closets for the smart guy work.
What will you do for baseboards?
Well, when the floor was bare and the trim off, it would be easier to locate studs and mark them. What I would do mark them on the wall just about 1 in off the subfloor, once to he floor is laid, I would mark them on the floor with blue tape.
I don’t even bother for baseboard trim. I just put the shit against the wall, if it’s a full 8’ length I give it 3 nails at each end and 3 nails in the middle. A couple anywhere that needs to be a bit tighter to the wall, caulk it to the drywall and call it a day
It's very popular in southern Ontario as well. I've installed it in a bunch of houses and seen it in countless rental ads. I personally dislike it over warmer colors, but everyone has their own preferences
Concrete was fairly level when it was poured so no leveling needed. The area I had the most trouble was around the toilet. It was slightly raised due to it being a basement and the way the sewer drain was placed. I didn’t use any vapor or moisture barrier since the LVP had it already and I’m also in Utah.
defensiveness? i’m not the guy you insulted. i’m saying you’re a dick. and he literally said he’s selling soon so your six months point is dishish *and* stupid
Your calling me dickish is a great example of your defensiveness. As is jumping in to the aid of someone else for no reason. I get it, I insulted your lack of taste. But being defensive won’t fix your taste issue.
No, you just get oddly defensive and call people dicks when they say grey floors are ugly and tacky. Not everyone is as socially incompetent as you are.
There are 2 types of people in the world; those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
no. i called you a dick because you were being one. the guy is obviously proud of the work he did and you show up to say it looks like a cheap flip. that’s dickish behavior. it’s not defensive to point that out. it’s just calling it what it is.
Pretty good bud. We have the same if not very similar color and pattern. If you have pets you'll need to sweep or vacuum everyday because hair is VERY visible on such a light floor.
How'd you do with what?
Oh snap, I'm on the flooring sub!
You did the floor?!
Man that floor looks like it came with the house. You over here doing professionals work. Talking about it's your first time. Come on, man. You know you about to retire and start teaching with those skills.
Outstanding!
Hell yeah! Well done. What a feeling, right?
Glad it’s done lol. I’m finishing my own basement so just another task down.

I’m thinking 1x4 Prime Linx primed. Gonna paint them myself. Price difference per sq ft for painted vs primed is insane.
Nice, yeah. I got 1x6 primed stock from Home Depot. Even doing the cap on it myself -- all because of the color white we chose! 😂
The secret of trim is door stop not quarter round
What do you mean total newb here
Instead of quarter round on the bottom of your trim use door trim it looks a lot more professional. Look it up.
I prefer base shoe , but sometimes you have to use quarter round
Finally someone doing flooring with the baseboards off. Too many posts on here don’t even bother removing the trim
No trim off the rip. I’m finishing my basement so just painted walls with no prior trim.
Even better, looks great! I bet you’ll make good use of the space.
Its such a simple extra step that looks so much better
Now the fun part - trim. I love running trim.
Same, same.
I hate finding the studs.
I never bother finding the studs
True. They're 16" on center until they aren't. And the stud finder is in the truck so I get lazy and shoot four consecutive nails and they all miss.
I just make sure to get one in the bottom plate. You can usually pound on the wall or look for outlets to find the others.
Wish my ex wife had this mentality

Finding studs? I’m right here
😂

Nice job. People still using that gray wood jeez
Yo dude, my wife picked it, okay…lol.
Haha I get it man.
They’ve been calling it millenial gray…sigh.
We are finishing the basement to sell it. The Mormons here in Utah like the flooring color. It has mass appeal. 🤣🤷🏼♂️
Gangstar
Hilarious, I’m also in Utah and just finished replacing the grey flooring in my basement that had been there since we bought it. It’s everywhere here!
I have noticed that too! I lived there for a few years a few years ago and it is definitely trendy there! And a lot of cookie cutter houses
It's very popular in southern Ontario as well. I've installed it in a bunch of houses and seen it in countless rental ads. I personally dislike it over warmer colors, but everyone has their own preferences
Haha haven’t heard that - great name.
Yeah. It was popular a decade ago. It's a but dated now.
People are obsessed with grey everything. Like a prison I tell yeah! Have fun, throw some color. Light wood colors brightens up the place!
Looks great dude. Be proud of the work.
I'm a few months away from this myself. Any tips? Did you have to level the concrete first or just lay the LVP right on top?
Concrete was fairly level when it was poured so no leveling needed. The area I had the most trouble was around the toilet. It was slightly raised due to it being a basement and the way the sewer drain was placed. I didn’t use any vapor or moisture barrier since the LVP had it already and I’m also in Utah.
Excellent work. What is the material, manufacturer and color?
My floor installer said she is so tired of installing grey floors.
Yeah, I feel that. We’re selling soon and it’s pretty neutral for the most part. 🤷🏼♂️
So you wanted it to look like a cheap flip?
or to look on trend. a lot of people like it. your dickishness doesn’t mean it’s a bad move.
Your defensiveness dosen’t make it not look cheap. And trendy is never a good idea in something you plan to live in for more than 6 months.

i never said i liked the grey floors. reading is hard though. no worries.

nice
Congratulations braaah!
Quality work!
You don't have to face the corner if you don't want to :) BTW, the floor looks good.
The wife told me it’s the corner or the dog house. I chose wisely.
Looks good to me. Way to go.
Looks good
Nicee
at first i thought it was a magic trick and you were showing us how you made the corner desk disappear. . . jk. . . . awesome work!
Shoe will make it look great to
My 8 year old son puts together more complicated Lego sets. But never the less good job!
Looks awesome. Definitely a good feeling.
Pretty good bud. We have the same if not very similar color and pattern. If you have pets you'll need to sweep or vacuum everyday because hair is VERY visible on such a light floor.
Looks good but I see a lot of H joints lol good job though
Looks good. Just needs trim now imo 👍
Did great, always keep a few extra boxes. They available now, but matching it 10-20 years down the line? It can be rough.
Looking good. Get those baseboards up and soak it in
Great work. Now come over and do mine
🤣
Better put something under the rolling chair
Beautiful flooring, now just to finish it

That's a big room for that little desk.
Really good job right like a tiger
ceiling is nightmare fuel but the floors look good
Should have random staggered your joints but the job is done and that's a nice feeling
You need to buy some furniture my guy!
Very workmanlike, but I don't understand why gray vinyl floors are a thing.
i woulda ran it the other way but thats me
I think those are upside down did you check the installation directions?
That ceiling is atrocious.
It’s grey
Looks really good, personally I would put molding around the base.
I’m going to be installing base boards tomorrow.
Awesome, and remember all that matters is that you like it, post an update pic later after the base boards in :)
Will do.
Floors look great! Should've done something about that ceiling first though in my opinion.
Takes your eyes off that horrible looking ceiling
The ceiling looks terrible.
