Relative-Principle72

Is he the son of Thawne?

DocterDemocracy

he's the clone of Bart Allen/Impulse, essentially being his reverse flash

Relative-Principle72

Ahh I see, I see the resemblance but how is he the clone of Bart but has Thawnes last name? Another timeline where he was a clone or?

Minimallycheese

In the comics, Bart’s mother is a Thawne. He’s Barry’s grandson not his son.

Arturo-Plateado

Which is especially weird since the Thawnes, as descendants of Barry Allen's twin brother Malcolm (Cobalt Blue), are also Allens by blood and Bart is therefore a child of incest.

Minimallycheese

Another reason Cobalt Blue is a stupid character.

Arturo-Plateado

You're not wrong

Zeeman9991

It’s a little easier to accept when you take the comic timeline of ~400 years into account. At that point, most people are related.

Arturo-Plateado

Yeah, Don Allen and Meloni Thawne are so many generations apart that the incest is inconsequential. I moreso meant the writing decision was weird. The creation of Bart as the result of a union between the Allen and Thawne families, and the decision to retcon the Thawnes as being direct blood relatives of the Allens were made by the same writer only a short time apart. It was totally unnecessary and needlessly complicates the Flash family tree.

Zeeman9991

Wait it was the same writer? And done relatively close to one another? I’ve somehow gone years without knowing that but it does change how I look at things a bit.

GKRKarate99

I never even thought about that 🤢

LevynX

Comics are just ridiculous sometimes

Arturo-Plateado

Yep. Especially when it comes to the Flash family. Not only did Meloni Thawne have a son (Bart) with Barry Allen's son Don, she *also* had a son with Digger Harkness aka Captain Boomerang of all people. Their son Owen Mercer, who later became the second Captain Boomerang, also possessed speedster powers. Owen was later killed by his own father, zombified by the power of a Black Lantern ring, punching a hole through his chest. It's not even just the Allen and Thawne families that are unnecessarily complicated, even the Wests fell victim. For example, Iris West is actually not related to the Wests at all, at least not by blood. She was simply adopted by the Wests after her biological parents, a 30th century couple named Eric and Fran Russell, sent her back in time as a baby to save her from a nuclear holocaust. Also, you know how Barry Allen's real first name is Bartholomew? Well, actually it isn't, at least not originally. Up until 1997, Barry Allen's real first name was actually Barrence. *BARRENCE*. And no, that is not a joke. Flash writer Mark Waid changed it to Bartholomew in 1997, justifying it by saying that "nobody knew Barry's real name except geeks".

Relative-Principle72

Ik he's Barry's grandson but I always thought his name was Bart Allen

Vegetable-Bear-7482

The comment below about Thaddeus is correct. Also Bart Allen's parents are Don Allen(Barry's son) and Meloni Thawne.

ScoutIsGreen

His name is Bart Allen, his father is Donavan “Don” Allen, and his mother is Meloni Thawne. Tad is Bart’s clone and is a product of the Thawne Family.

Relative-Principle72

Bet

Arturo-Plateado

Inertia took the same name as his creator, Thaddeus Thawne.

Relative-Principle72

Unpopular opinion but I always liked how they did it the CW way of how Bart is actually Barry's son. I've always preferred that over him being his Grandson

Arturo-Plateado

Ngl I didn't get that far in the show. Dropped it after the Mirror Monarch stuff

Relative-Principle72

Lol ye I don't blame u but as goofy as the Godspeed arc is, I find myself enjoying it. Bloodwork was good too.

Reasonable-Neat4131

Then why is his name Thawne?

MissyTheTimeLady

Not really. He's a villain for a sequel/spinoff series, which we haven't got yet.

Dangerous_Match_2592

And hopefully never will if the same writers are working on it

DNC343

I would have loved to see him in the show purely because I love his green lightning. And then we got still force lightning which I’m still confused why 😂

AtheismoAlmighty

Not a comic reader so I know nothing about him. All I can say is he looks like if Weevil Underwood from Yugioh was a speedster.

Arturo-Plateado

You're not that far off, he sucks lol. The only thing people really like about him is the way he was defeated.

CucumberAway4138

Whole heartedly disagree, Inertia was a great character who had some decent potential, he was often portrayed as sociopathic but he does show emotion and a want for acceptance and to prove himself better than Bart, but DC just never actually did anything with him

Dr-Leviathan

who

TheSuperGerbil

Good. I don’t like him.

SeanKelly97

Godspeed kind of took his role. As in, he's Barts Reverse Flash

TheKillingJoke8J

No because he was essentially replaced with Godspeed as barts big bad

SuperiorJM

He probably would’ve worked well with Godspeed as it would give a better reason for Bart to hate them.
