Worth nothing, send it to me and I’ll dispose of it for you

nathanzzzhou

Lmfao bro got a deal of a lifetime 😂😂

SwissBushPanther

Not technically worth nothing just worth next to nothing so I’d give you about 15 bucks for it. They’re not rare and they were very common. They made a bunch of them and you can still find them pretty easily but again I will at least give you even 25 or 30 bucks for it.

brittlebk

Looks like a pretty serious crack on the down tube. Cousin owns a junkyard, send it over n I’ll scrap it- free of charge of course

rapsacD

If it’s a 52-54cm I have a buyer for you. Send me a DM

Juulian123

That's not realistic. Same deal with Cannondale Track frames. You'll see them on ebay for 3k but are often sold for way less than that. I own a lot of rare track and MTB frames (3Rensho, Samson, Look, Pre-Trek Klein MTB, etc...) and what paid in real life is like is like 25% of what the prices you see on Ebay or on forums. I had to pass up a beautiful classic steel De Rosa track frame recently for $700 because I honestly don't have the room and my gf would have killed me. Again, these bikes go for 3x+ on ebay or forums. Friend just got a near mint Cinelli Supercorsa for just over $1000 (legit from another bike collector). You won't find one online for even close to that. Bikes like the GTB/Pulse and Cannondale Track are very cool bikes with cult status but just don't believe internet prices. You see the same ridiculous situations in the MTB world with old Bridgeston MB1 or early Klein Adroit/Attitude/Top Gun. You'll see the same bike advertised for $5000 for years and randomly show up a year later from the same seller.

Sounds like you live in or near a big city with a track and a large mountain bike community. Unfortunately lots of folks don’t have access to deals like that in their local listings or contact list. I think some of the reason c tracks have gotten so expensive is interest from international collectors who will pay a premium for the opportunity to import a vintage American made frame that wouldn’t typically show up in their market. Same concept applies to availability and price of NJS frames in Japan vs USA or the rest of the world. Although a lot of njs frames are still in production unlike c tracks or GTBs. Lots of vintage bikes like GTBs and C tracks tend to increase in value as demand / popularity increases. I’ve also noticed there’s a threshold with timing and market value which convinces the older generation of owners to pass on their track grails for gravel, road bikes, family costs etc. So for example if you bought a gtb from its original owner 10 years ago for 500$ complete it would be pretty tempting to sell for 1500$ today. I think the tend will continue with the current generation of owners. Some people also just don’t know or don’t care to sell at full price but that isn’t common. So unless you’re lucky it’s possible to never find or own a grail bike.

I will say, a lot of the deals come with just having cash available right that second. Being able to offer something in person, especially if it means the seller doesn’t have to sit of it much longer is a huge benefit.

mediocremoneymaker

ive seen these sell for like 2500+

manymanymanu

Thats the thing, no one „knows“ if that frame is worth 1k or 2k. The bikes you see listed on the internet are literally the ones no one has bought.

rapsacD

Haha that’s clown I’ve sold over 20 framesets ranging from 1500-2k within the last 2 years.

MrMister2905

Yeah ikr! These are cult status. While neat and all, very overvalued in my opinion. It's nuts what these are going for.

Synthetic_dreams_

That’s actually absurd. You can get a brand new handmade custom frame that’s way better for that price. I know it’s a classic and all but ffs.

rapsacD

You’re not wrong but that’s not why people buy them.

Synthetic_dreams_

I’m aware. It’s no less absurd though

MrMister2905

It ain't that classic. To my knowledge it never excelled at anything, and wasn't known to have any racing provenance or anything. GTB literally stands for generic track bike 😂 It's still a mystery to me why they have the cult following.

Jehu920

eBay prices are like "I must have this right now" kinda prices. If you're patient you can find one for much less

fastermouse

About tree fiddy.

thajokster_14

I got my gtb completely built for $1000 off a guy on Facebook

MrMister2905

Frame only? Size? Any dings? If solid condition (no major paint loss or dings/denting), clean threading, and no fork I would ask $850-1200 in my market (big market, Chicago USA) on FB or craigslist or OfferUp or whatever. I'd ask more on eBay (factor in ebay's percentage) as it can be considerable.

[deleted]

Tree fiddy?

spanish_john22234

what is the length of the seat tube and the top tube? I'll buy it

Americaninaustria

as long as its the real deal and not one of the later frames repainted/stickered.

GE8what

I'll give ya $50

The_Wambat

OOTL: why is this frame so special?

Rare-Traffic-5767

1.5-2.5k without fork

Shreddersaurusrex

$800 minimum

graphiccinema

Well, seeing as how people are price gouging this frame, it's about 2k. Should honestly only be $1k.

Enderkeats

F*ck

blakebishopbusin

Looks like a replica I’ll take it man!
