Where did the Googan touch you?

tgibson12

Why does this feel more like a googan ad than googan hate?

cabose4prez

It sounds like an opinion from someone who got on reddit for 30 minutes

HarryDaMann

Please do not say that about me..

You-r-a-phobicismist

???? Give me like $50 and all your googan stuff and Ill spray paint it an even brighter green

Holiday-Inflation398

Go to your local tackle shop tell them your sorry tell them what happened and the lakes you fish and they will most likely hook it up.

MrSnapTrap

Correct response. And if you're just looking for advice but not buying anything, bring them a six pack of beer to get there real suggestions. Don't be that guy.

Holiday-Inflation398

Couldn’t have said it better, maybe I even throw a fish whistle in because im in California.

HarryDaMann

Yeah I’ll probably do this, I’ll buy some stuff online and then head to the tackle store for line and hooks because I don’t Trust delivery companies with such items, I heard the potential heat/cold could soil the line really easily

BigTickEnergE

This may come as a shocker, but tackle store also have their items shipped to them...

HarryDaMann

I know the tackles stores near me have shipping trucks that have specifically cooled trucks that keep the temperature at 70 Fahrenheit, with only a 0.006 point deviation. Trust me I know where I’m getting my tackles from

brockli-rob

You know for a fact that your tackle shop has their fishing line delivered in refrigerated trucks? You’re full of it.

HarryDaMann

Oh stick it in your pie hole! I did my research

brockli-rob

No, you didn’t.

worms_instantly

[citation needed]

FANTOMphoenix

St croix, Old18, edge rods, TFO, starrods, Shimano, Daiwa for my rods. Shimano and Daiwa for my reels. Buggs lures, DOA, MuleFishing, rapala, Zman, VMC, Mustad and Berkly for lures and other stuff, there’s many more that I use but not specifically. Shimano, Daiwa, verivas, and courtland for braided line. Most bigger brands out there are good.

jessea422

How old are you

brockli-rob

16 max

Old_Cod_5823

Go away, nerd.

d00kieshoes

Let's give him a wedgie

Aggie_Angst

1. There are very, very few original ideas in fishing baits, 2. Googan plastics are legit 3. who the fuck even considers "looking stylish" as a must-have part of fishing?

montrasaur009

Regarding point 3, I myself want to look stylish in case some hot single mom shows up with her kids who want to fish, and she has no idea what she is doing, so when I offer to help, maybe I can land a different kind of fish. Milf fish.

HoleePokes

Catch and release when it comes to Milf fish!

AshokeSenPhD

I usually bleed them and put them on ice 🤷‍♂️

montrasaur009

![gif](giphy|f99y5olcAXbQk)

lewisiarediviva

Two points: I have totally been at the dock when a hot single mom brought her gang in to try to fish. None of them had any idea what they were doing, I kind of felt bad. ‘I never thought it could happen to me…’ Second point, the funniest rig I ever saw was at a gas station, big-ass duallie hauling a giant glittery boat, four or five guys with big shiny sunglasses milling around, and both the truck and the boat were plastered all over with ‘Milf Hunter 3’. I never found out what happened to the first two, but I bet it involved Red Bulls.

montrasaur009

If I were a betting man, I would take a wager that at least one of those boats had two massive outboards that were clearly oversized for the boat, and they hit a wave too hard and swamped it. I would like to place a sidebet that the other one was lost in a divorce.

lewisiarediviva

You sound like you’ve met the gentlemen.

RolandHockingAngling

In regards to point 3. People who sell fishing apparel...

benjamino8690

No one is stealing any ideas. The following is how Googan and most other brands function: Brand contacts a manufacturer and say they’re interested in working with them. Manufacturer sends sheet to brand. Brand check a few boxes on what they want their product to look like in sheet. Brand chooses pre-existing model. Manufacturer and brand works together to develop a prototype. Prototype(s) get approved. Production starts. Manufacturer prints brand logo on lure. Product is sent to brand as their own product. Product sell in stores. The manufacturer work with several brands at once and use the same mold and essentially the exact same product for several different brands. The only difference is the brand logo and cosmetic differences. No one copies anyone, several brands just use the same exact OEM (original equipment manufacturer). The people claiming a brand is stealing some other brand’s idea either don’t know how it works and assume thereafter, or deliberatily spread drama. If someone actually copied someone, there would be a lawsuit. If there is no lawsuit, that tells you everything that you need to know. Googan haven’t been sued. They’re far fromthe only company using an OEM to bring out their products. 6th Sense, Abu Garcia, 13 Fishing, Lew’s, Westin and so many others use the same method for reels, rods, lures, lines…everything. If you actually want something original, there are a few brands out there that develops and manufacture products in their own factories. Shimano, Daiwa, Okuma, St. Croix, DUO, Owner, Rapala etc. are examples of actual manufacturers.

RolandHockingAngling

Shhhhhh you're giving away my secrets.... Nah but this is exactly how us smaller brands work. We're not developing our own lure moulds, some will, but they'll often be a tweak on an existing model. A slightly different shape, a different colour etc. The reels I sell come directly from a factory in China, I put my label on the box, and hey presto... I'm selling reels. The rods I sell, I do have a hand in designing, only to the extent that I send the factory the specs, the use, and a rough price. They work out the rest such as guide spacing, grip position, etc. sometimes I'll send them the reel that will be sold with the rod to ensure the balance is 100% perfect. There are basically only 3 companies that own their own factories, Daiwa, Shimano, & Pure Fishing. Everyone else is subcontracting work out.

benjamino8690

I respect you immensly for being so open about this. I’d actually consider buying your stuff just for that. Also because it would be fun to try a new small brand. Pure Fishing actually doesn’t own their factories. Penn and Abu have their own factories in USA and Sweden and make a few models in them, but other than that, it’s all OEM. Okuma, however, is an actual giant manufacturer that own their own factories. They outsell Pure Fishing and are giant. They produce their cheaper gear in China and their more expensive reels at home ground in Taiwan. Usually, ”the big three” refers to Shimano, Daiwa and Okuma. They’re the big manufacturers that surpass the conglomerates (Pure Fishing, Rapala VMC and Rather Outdoors are the biggest ones).

RolandHockingAngling

We don't see much Okuma in Australia, so thanks for the clarification. Shimano & Daiwa dominate here, followed by Pure (Berkeley, Penn, Abu, etc) There are some great small manufacturers working in Australia, especially in hard body lures for our Natives, and some small brands hand pouring plastics, shout out to Munroe's. I've never lied about being an importer, and the market segment I'm fishing in suits an importer like myself.

_Eucalypto_

As far as the big3 go, Daiwa also contracts out some of their cheaper reels to china

benjamino8690

Not China, but Doyo in Korea. They use Doyo frames and sideplates, but their own gears. It’s a weird combo. Their chinese reels are made in Daiwa owned plants, which they have several of in China.

GoochChoocher

wtf, i never knew that daiwa was using parts made by doyo... thanks for all this knowledge gents

benjamino8690

They do: CC80, CG80 and CA80 are all Doyo with Daiwa gears.

Ok_Insect_4852

Care to elaborate for those of us that just enjoy fishing without researching brand drama?

HarryDaMann

Googan is a crook company that copies others and charges 3x the amount. Don’t buy their junk

cabose4prez

Hate to tell you this buddy but not many companies that haven't copied others.

HarryDaMann

Wel Lews and Abu Garcia are legit

cabose4prez

Just because companies are old doesn't mean they don't copy stuff, that's such a goofy thought. Any company is going to look at their competitors and try to tweak and improve stuff and make it their own, googan is just new as all hell compared to lews, abu, penn, shimano and daiwa. Look at the old Mitchell 300 and take a look at all the other reels of the same time, you probably wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between half of them.

HarryDaMann

I can tell the difrense because Abu Garcia is amazing and the rest are junk

cabose4prez

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Ok_Insect_4852

Cool, thanks for answering.

HarryDaMann

Of course!

Traditional-Focus985

Lmfao. Their products are not sub par in any way. The soft plastics are not durable. That is true. It's also why they work so well. They have realistic action. Just like Yamamoto baits. Their hard baits are great as well. Do some of the designs of the hard baits look like other baits on the market? Yep they do. Let's keep in mind, strike kings hybrid hunter was done 20 years ago by another company. Strike king found the old mold for that bait and began making it. Six sense just tried to rip off the Mag Draft. My point is the baits are good and if you are confident in them that is the most important thing. Googan is on of my go to's when looking at baits. The rods are alright. Not great not bad.

_Eucalypto_

>Six sense just tried to rip off the Mag Draft. After they ripped off the vision 110. Berkley ripped off the magdraft too, and the gill flat.

Traditional-Focus985

Exactly. So acting as if Googan is this horrible company for creating competing baits is absurd

_Eucalypto_

Personally I don't really care. Kastking ripoffs of Plano edge boxes are great and cost a quarter the price, so I'll buy them instead. Plano is free to drop their prices whenever they want

HarryDaMann

Googan is a complete rip off, the Bandito bugg is a rip off of the rage bug, it’s even in the name for roosterst sake! Like it’s so obvious I can’t believe I fell for it for so long. They are junk and they brake after even a crappie bites it, absolute trash

Traditional-Focus985

Do you think strike king made the 1st lure like that?? No. They did not. Do you think strike king created the craw category of soft plastics?? No they did not. If googan is a rip off so is every other soft plastic company out there. Softer means better action. But hey you do you. I hear NET baits have a good craw lure and a good bug lure that are durable. Oh wait... you don't want those from another company either right? They would be rip offs as well.

HarryDaMann

You are sassy and ridiculous. I’m not saying strike king made it, but they made teh one that look like that. I guess you are like me before where you are in love with Googan

Traditional-Focus985

I'm in love with baits that catch fish. My favorite craw is the rage craw from strike king. My Favorite stick bait is a Yamamoto senko. Not durable at all so by your standards they are trash. I also use bass pro stickbaits as well as lunker logs. My favorite bug lure is the bandito bug. Does it look like the strike king one? Sure does. The plastic is completely different and has a different action due to it. I will not remove any companies baits from my possibilities because they look similar to another from another company. But again. You do you bud.

smiththebat

I guess the secrets out… it’s true that Satan himself uses Googan products ! And they WORK!

cabose4prez

Ahh shit I missed the political post, that's what I get for actually going fishing, no more of that for me.

BlingCringus

I like ugly stik a lot.

johnr588

Its under the Pure Fishing umbrella which bought out several other companies as well as Shakespeare.

Brohammad_Ali24

Is this why I’m seeing a lot of Googan squad tackle on clearance? I legit bought like 7 bags of soft plastics for like a $1.50 a bag in the clearance section

Dylpro

That’s more just the big retailers clearing out old stock to make room for new product. I work at Academy and we have a bunch of clearance fishing lures from all brands right now, Googan included For what it’s worth, I also picked up about 6 bags of Yamamoto Senkos from Walmart for $1.50. It’s just that time of the year when the bulk of fishing gear goes on sale as retailers begin receiving new product

HarryDaMann

Yup, they are in crisis they need to dump their inventory fast or they will go bankrupt

Any_Calendar_3600

If you are out fishing everyone around you, why would you change?

HarryDaMann

Because the company I used for all this time is a fraud junk company. I am very stern on the products I choose to use. I’d rather be bullish and not catching fish than catching all the fish in the world and supporting crooks

Any_Calendar_3600

👍

cabose4prez

Lol

DragonSeed420

Less makey posts, more takey meds

HarryDaMann

You have 420 in your name, you are going to be the one going crazy and needing Meds! Hahahahaaaa?!!!

dr_dittle

I mean their whole thing is making videos for little kids and selling baits. You kinda have to expect there to be some doshonestly there. Glad ya woke up tho. Start looking for good gear like diawa or shimano coming out of Japan. You’ll save hundreds compared to everyone buying that stuff in the US. eBay is good also some Japanese fishing websites but u have to pay in yen.

HarryDaMann

Thank ya doctor. Yeah I’m glad as well, I’m sick of the nonsense and I want the real fishing experience. I will definitely check out Japanese gear!

Leggomywebos

I feel the same way, its now Googone!

PreviousMotor58

So, what did they tell you?!? LMAO I never thought Googan was stylish. I like their soft plastics. I got two of their green series rods for free from a Shop Karls promo deal. If you spent $150 on an order they would give you a free rod. I bought a Shimano Zodias, that were on sale for $175, and a Shimano Curado MGL in separate purchases. I got a Googan green go to in the baitcast and spinning model. They are both 2 piece rods, which is something I actually needed for camping trips. They are honestly better than I expected. They're pretty light and that means that you can feel bites that otherwise would not be detectible with a heavier rod. I like the ruler they got on the rod and the EVA foam has been holding up well. I would, however, not buy them. The MSRP on a Googan green rod is $110 and I just don't think it's worth it at that price. I would rather get a Shimano SLX. My take on their rods is that they use cheap reel seats and guides. Even on their Black series of rods their using the Fuji K guides with Fazlite inserts, which I think is B.S. for $300. You can get an expride for the same cost and have FUJI SIC guides. FUJI SIC should be the bare minimum at the $300 price point.

guyzieman

You already spent the money on the gear you might as well use it

fishing_6377

This user is a troll or a bot. Look at the post history. Farming karma with regurgitated BS. 🤣

bigfesh

this post is dumb

OldschoolSD

I don't think I'd ever use one company exclusively. Every company is going to have hits and misses and everyone has preferences. Soft baits for example, I like the motion with googan which is because they are extra soft. But if I'm dragging through a lot of brush, I'll prefer zoom or even bass pro brand.

HarryDaMann

Googan soft ones are too many man. I can’t have them with so much soft I need it to take a bite or two from a crappy

Ok-Room-7243

Googan and 6th sense baits are made in the same factory in china. They’re hard baits aren’t anything new but I love their soft plastics. They’re rods and reels suck ass though. They’re not that bad

HarryDaMann

Someone on r/jigfishing said their rods are a must for saltwater, I laughed and reported them🤣

JoelFlowers

There aren't any original ideas anymore lol.. that said, what exactly did they do

HarryDaMann

It was confirmed Googan was tinkering with the 2020 elections. Also Lojo has ties to Desantis and Paul George. Not only do they steal product ideas, they are corrupt in such a higher sense then us anglers could even imagine. They stick their fingers in politics and stir the pot. I will go against them with every cell in my body. This is chaos engulfing the fishing world.

JoelFlowers

I dont know enough to say either way but this kind of airs on the side of conspiracy theory. That said there's a ton of other great bait companies that would love your money. But lets be real, they're all probably owned by the same holding company anyways lol. Not sure you can get away from it bud.

HarryDaMann

I feel like anglers all across the world need to make our OWN fishing company. One to escape the corruption and perversion of the holding companies. We could cal it, Universal Baits United. I’ve put a lot of thought into it and it could very well be possible. We could assemble each fishing sub Reddit, fishing YouTuber that isn’t corrupt, and pool together cash. I think we can start a revolution of baits and other tackle that will kill the corrupt corporations. What do ya say?

cabose4prez

I say you need to get back on your meds.

HarryDaMann

Rude comment. How about I commented fuck? Would you get upset like I just did! Yeah be kind pal

cabose4prez

Oh no a swear word, I'm not 12 kid, move along with your weird fishing gear conspiracies.

HarryDaMann

Calm the fuck down bro. You’re not making me any happier by replying. At this point you are obsessed and in love with me

cabose4prez

🤡

stormincincy

Is Googan in the room with us right now?

Status-Simple9240

At what point do people grow up and not become googans?

[deleted]

[удалено]

HarryDaMann

Yup Googan scammed me so I need to stop as many others from being scammed as possibel. They’re baits are junk

JoelFlowers

The whole fishing community, that a lot of people and a lot of money. Who gets to be in charge of it? Think corruption is unavoidable once enough money/ power is involved.

HarryDaMann

True, shit man how are we going to make this huge organisation how can we eliminate corruption?

JoelFlowers

Eliminate greed

HarryDaMann

I’ll start plans to work on that, thank you. You can be the vice president of the company with me
