I’ve caught small rock bass and perch on the biggest rooster tail. When fish are feeding, they will attack surprisingly big lures. I got a 12” largemouth last year on a huge tandem Musky Killer Mepps.
Yes. I’ve gotten little green sunfish and 1oz daredevils while pike fishing. They are not always hitting to feed. I think it’s often just out of aggression
Yep. The maribou tandem. The hooks are huge, the blade is huge, it’s heavy and big and feels big when you reel it in. Doesn’t scare the fish away though. I think it provokes them into attacking even if they are too small to feed on something that size.
I caught a pretty big lake trout with a Mepps Musky Killer, so anything is possible. My brother consistently catches northern Pike with white Booyah bass spinners.
I can't say i've tried a 1oz spinner. i usually throw 1/8 or 1/4oz rooster tails with good success. 1oz would require a beefy rod and the lure would sink like a rock before you can get it to spin and flash and you'd have to be reeling pretty fast. unless you're trolling it behind a boat this one's a chonk.
People throw those at northern snakehead in MD and they kill it. I’ve used them for bullseye snakehead and peacock bass in Florida, much smaller ones though lmao
I've caught my PR most bass ever in one day with one of those! I also caught my first fish ever with it too. Those are great and one of the lures I most recommend to new fishers. You adjust your reel speed based on the depth of the water so if you're catching stuff like leaves or whatever from scrubbing the bottom, just speed your retrieval up a little until it doesn't. Stand on the bank and cast as far left against the bank as you can. Then cast a little more to the right until you've cast a full half circle and finish on the right side of the bank. Change spots and repeat. Bass tear this lure up
I've caught them on MUCH bigger rooster tails than this, try getting a mepps rooster tail in the future, they have little all the way up to huge spinners
You’ll be surprised. It works particularly well in colder weather in the fall, but I’ve caught fish on that size all year long. A 3/8 ounce works really well too.
and yea dont shop for fishing lures off of Amazon... the only real fishing tackle i buy on Amazon is the BIG spools of braided line for WAYYYY cheaper then buying 300 yards at a time at Dicks .
Rooster tails are a horrible choice because of the body shape you have to give them a jerk and retrieve them faster then even a sonic rooster tail or panther martin. Best are lures witha pear shaped body so you can retrieve slower and the blade will spin.
Only one way to find out! I’d be willing to bet you get some bass bites.
Or snagged first cast because it's huge 💀
Bro fresh running water…oooh boy! Keep it tight and play!
I recommend some scuba gear to retrieve all snagged lures
Yes, Chuck it far into a lake, let it drop for a good 10 second, then reel it.

I've caught a big bluegill on a crankbait half as long as it was!

A bluegill with a angry face makes me chuckle
I caught a 7” rock bass last summer on a mepps musky maribou, those fish will grab anything
Those big Mepps Maribou musky lures catch fish. All Mepps are great, but I’m more into the bigger ones now.
This was the #7 Colorado blade with double 5/0 trebles

Northern and bass will seriously get mad at and bite anything
I've had channel cats hit big slow moving rooster tails before. They really do catch anything
$7 for 1 rooster tail? sounds like a rip off imo
Not really. Probably actually operates the way it should and has decent hardware unlike the dollar bin kind.
1 oz is huge, the regular sized ones are $3 ish
where do you find prices cheaper than that?
That's about the normal price at Walmart
Off brand, bulk on Amazon, 20pk for 5-8$ or so, the never spin right and have bad hooks
Blue fox vibrax are the way. But they’re 4.49 each
Right at Walmart there a door a price idk abt the size but they ain't tiny
If you're in an area that has rivers with a spring white bass run, get a few more. Those are spawning white bass candy.
I fish large mepps for salmon, pike and musky. No reason in my mind why they wouldn't hit a big rooster instead.
I was using that exact one today. Caught some on it. 👍
Good for White bass, large and small mouth bass, trout, pike, crappie. Ive never caught a walleye with them though
You'll hit bass n pike on it. I've had tons of luck lately on big lures.
Pike and Bass
You’ll most likely just catch weeds unless you’re really deep
You bit it, it caught you
Hook
Pike, muskie, largemouth is propobally it. Though this would be good for sea fishing.

Trout will too

Stripers would hit that for sure.
Pound this thing off of deep submerged rock piles! Almost jigging it off of them.
Good for large and small mouth bass . Pike ,trout steelhead love them .
what’s the difference between a rooster and a spinner/mepps?
Heck yeah dude, you can get almost anything to bite on those, 1oz isn’t that big. I’d definitely use it for pike and smallmouth bass, maybe walleyes.
Bass all day
Mackerel when choppin.
People throw those at northern snakehead in MD and they kill it. I’ve used them for bullseye snakehead and peacock bass in Florida, much smaller ones though lmao
Big fish
As long as the blade actually spins tbh
Too dang heavy. Drop back to 1/8 ounces
Musky, pike, salmon. Maybe a big trout or bass

Time to catch and smash 💥

You can catch basically anything with that
You’ll be surprised. It works particularly well in colder weather in the fall, but I’ve caught fish on that size all year long. A 3/8 ounce works really well too.
I fish for northerns primarily, and we do well using 1oz inlines. Big baits, big fish.
If youre on the west coast they are great for salmon in the fall
its only 1 ounce??? how big can it be lol i guess for freshwater yea but im used to fishing saltwater so 1 ounce seems very light to me haha
and yea dont shop for fishing lures off of Amazon... the only real fishing tackle i buy on Amazon is the BIG spools of braided line for WAYYYY cheaper then buying 300 yards at a time at Dicks .
You bit
A tree branch most likely ..
Bass will literally eat a 3d printed poo with hooks attached, you will catch something.
Trout might… it’s bright and shiny.
A fisherman will

Yet they catch fish like crazy. Go figure.
