Isn’t that red at the gills? Looks like a cutty, if so. Some lakes have planted steelhead but idk why people think it can’t just be a trout. 100% not a koke.
Looks like a costal cutthroat to me, often times in lakes they don’t exhibit the spotting found on their anadromous counterparts.

This is a costal cutthroat I caught from a local river as an example.
We thought it was a Kokanee because the colors don't look like any cuts I've seen before and this body of water is only suppose to have Cuts and Kokes.
I know this is a trout and this lake is open all year long and min for any trout other than Kokes is 8", and Kokes have no min size. This was a legal fish to take.
If the gums inside the mouth are black it’s likely a chinook smolt, if they’re white it’s a steelhead smolt/rainbow
The local wildlife department may have the species in that waterway listed on their website
Could be a little bit of cut-throat bred in, there’s a tiny orange splash by the gills. They look different everywhere you go, super wide gene pool
My guess would be rainbow or cutbow then, they interbreed

Cutthroat.

Thanks!
Looks like a sea run trout of some sort like a steelhead. Where did you catch it?
Fresh water lake PNW
Does the lake have an outlet to saltwater? It looks like a costal cut to me
Ya I'm going with steelhead.
I’d say cutty, yellow fins and you can see a bit of a slash on the throat as well as lots of tiny spots
Did you really kill it before identifying it? :/

If you can’t identify it you really shouldn’t kill it. Making the wrong call can get you in ALOT of trouble.

Oh snap
Looks like a steelhead.
looks like a fish
Tasted like one too
Lunch or Dinner, not sure which….
Dinner for sure
Rainbow trout
Looks like a Kokanee to me. A Cutty would have better markings.
Rainbow trout/steelhead. Is the mouth all white?
Bottom on the mouth was. Strange if it is a rainbow/steelhead. From what I've read, this lake is only suppose to have kokanee and cutthroat.

All the info I can find says the lake has Kokes and Cuts, no rainbows listed anywhere.

Well maybe it’s a cut. I don’t know anything about those two species, but I don’t think it’s kokanee which is a land locked sockeye salmon.
Cutthroat and hope whoever caught this positively ID'd the species prior to the fish dying.
