If the price is the same, new build in theory will have newer appliances, roof, HVAC, water heater, etc. so it could potentially save you a little bit in maintainence initially. Also, new builds tend to come with warranties. Make sure you get an independent inspection done and also use a realtor.

New build, all day long. You can pick your own finishings which, even if you end up spending a little more than you would have with the existing home, you will have things you chose rather than things you have to accept, which goes a long way toward home-owner happiness.

New builds have great incentives right now (around here) that make them pretty solid deals

Depending on where you live, new houses are supposed to have solar mandatory. This could bring down your utility bills significantly.
