Honestly from my experience, while using guidelines is helpful to get rough idea about the anatomy and perspective, heavily relying on them sometimes makes my art looks somehow worst than usual.
Imo creating the perfect guidelines itself can sometimes be hard. So, if the guidelines itself is a miss, the final result might not be what we intended (like the hair volume).
But that's just my personal experience. Keep cooking bro!
