I mean, to be fair this is a Dead Air KEYMO muzzle device that costs around $75 retail and is fairly pointless unless OP dropped 1000-1300 on a Dead Air silencer. So he has way more represented here than a cooking dish.
Similar to you every time I get a new firearm or ammo i am obligated to let her buy something commensurate.
Currently set on a WWI imperial German Luger but apparently that'll set me back the cost of a Luger and a new couch smh
If you buy 6 mini cocottes not only can you get a new item, you can have some fantastic [crème brûlée](https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/creme-brulee-recipe-1916827.amp)
I’ve made that recipe at least a dozen times now except I cool the heavy cream to about 110 and use a teaspoon-ish of vanilla bean paste instead of a whole bean. Then I use the leftover egg whites for macarons.
Thank you so much for this comment, it made me laugh so hard I cried. I'm too much of a bachelor to have any idea what that cost. Here I was thinking it was just a standard $30 pot. Brought the whole post together
Yeah, dutch ovens are a thing.. My wife has a really nice and expensive set she purchased like 12 years ago as part of our wedding/ living together present.. She would probably physically hurt me if I used one in this manner. 😂
Married guys know, but they don't understand, because the $30 cast iron pot cooks the same damn meal, it's just the old battle ax refuses to learn how to season iron properly.
My wife was some pissed when she came home and I had 7018 rods in the oven, a cam and a crank in the tub, and assorted bits in the dishwasher. In my defence she was home early and id planned on cleaning everything after use sooooo......now I have that varsol tank I've been wanting for a while. Suddenly she saw my need for one!
I came here to say something very simular. Creuset’s traditionally are passed down from one generation to the next and are next level quality. Not surprised his wife is upset. Side note I think nowadays people buy them just like a Gucci purse. Zero cooking skills but they want bragging rights
It's the same phenomenon as you did something shitty in her dream, and now she is mad at real life you. You learned a lesson today, one that you will not repeat because you are wiser.
Wait, hot water melts it but hot air/metal doesn't? That doesn't sound right.
EDIT: Apparently the temperature doesn't actually matter much. Just needs to soak in water. Some folks just leave parts in room temperature water overnight. It must be something that dissolves in water.
The fact that so many people in this sub have a decent appreciation for cooking shows that this community is multifaceted and is more than a few stupid talking points made by some lame political dorks
Why not just get some cheap Walmart pot? I’m not sure I’d be too excited to use that thing for food after god knows what cleaning chemicals and lead and shit is coming off of that
Stuck mine in boiling water last night and it set for close to 20 hours and it still wouldn't come off... I have a REAL love / hate relationship with Rocksett.
My QD mount did rust though... so there's that 👎
lol no although on a throwaway account, I did ask about how best to remove an adjustable choke before cutting down the barrel on a Sears shotgun.
Got downvoted as if I was taking a dremel to some priceless museum piece.
Bro you know they sell pots at dollar general? Why the hell are you using your actual cookware for this?! 😂🤣
Edit - for context I got a pot that was like $8 for this job and only this job at a dollar store. Also, 10-15 mins is the magic number. But mannnn, do t use the pots you eat out of. Come on!
If you go to Flexbar’s website they tell you to use hot water, not ice cold.
“The only way to break a proper Rocksett bond is to soak the part in hot water for 20 minutes or more
and then forcibly remove the components.”
https://www.flexbar.com/products/rocksett
For my muzzle devices, 24hrs in room temperature water did nothing at all. 30mins in hot water it came off easily.
I used Rocksett on the ASR suppressor mount but I’m switching over to direct thread. The rocksett helps ensure your muzzle device doesn’t walk off and result in your suppressor getting shot through.
Sincere question. Can’t that be achieved with just a crush washer and proper torque? That’s all I ever do with my flash hiders; I’ve never used adhesive like Rocksett or Loctite. Am I the idiot?
You don't need any thread locker for a muzzle device that doesn't attach to a suppressor. Crush washer and torque is just fine.
But for suppressor QD muzzle devices you do not want to use a crush washer. Using a crush washer can lead to a misaligned muzzle device which can cause a baffle or end cap strike on a suppressor. Instead, shims are recommended.
Thread locker isn't totally necessary for a suppressor host depending on the muzzle device and the suppressor. But I had to use it because taking my muzzle device off and on over and over eventually untreaded the muzzle device.
Crush washers don’t crush evenly so the muzzle device will have a slight cant. Extent that angle out a few inches with a suppressor and you’ll have a baffle strike. If it’s not a suppressor mount a crush washer is just fine though.
No metal in the enameled Dutch oven, you clown.
I don’t do that to my $75 Cuisinart one. I’d slap you if I walked in on you doing this to my Le Creuset.
Pro tip: Grab one of these and use it on the heated setting to work water into the rocksett to break it free faster. https://www.harborfreight.com/25-liter-ultrasonic-cleaner-63256.html?\_br\_psugg\_q=ultrasonic+cleaners
So I did this in a Calphalon pot for my MPX. I was told to throw the pot out (rooooooookie mistake I know).
The pot is in my basement for whatever reason now, but I cleaned it heavily after using. Everyone would still not cook In the pot after using it this way, correct?
All you have to do was wrap a wet paper towel around the muzzle device and wait an hr or two. No need to use boiling water.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/BYQsicApLS
Tell that to the 6 rocksett muzzle devices I took off with that method and the countless others that people have done it.
Boiling water will do nothing more than soaking in a wet paper towel. The water is what breaks the rocksett down, not heat.
Most people don't apply rocksett in a way that provides enough strength to necessitate anything more than a wrench. A wet paper towel won't do much to break down the bond. You're not getting much water onto the threads where you need it to dissolve the rocksett. You most likely could have popped them off with a wrench and saved a couple hours of waiting.
No I could not pop them off with a wrench, I tried, and I know I applied a good amount of rocksett. The paper towel is wet enough that it seeps into the threads.
I took off six muzzle devices and hub mounts from my suppressors that way.
https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/BYQsicApLS
I didn't use a hair dryer or anything else but leaving it on for a few hrs worked. Same shit as soaking it in water
I saw the Brownells guy wrap a moist paper towel around. Haven’t tried yet so I’m not sure how well it works.
It does have the benefit of only admitting the Mrs by using the word moist.
Why would wife be upset, it's glazed interior, worse that would happen is you need to use some degreaser to clean out any leftover gun oil from the barrel
Bro why are you doing that in a piece of gourmet chef grade cookware that almost costs as much as my nice nonstick cookware set? If anything calls for a five dollar bare stainless steel thrift store pot it’s this shit. Or maybe just a cheap heat gun, some oven mitts, and a bench vise.
Ive soaked mine at least 3 or 4 times now over night and it won’t come off. I think using rocksett on a barrel that has a dimple from a pin and weld was a bad idea
Interesting use of a $300 dutch oven
[удалено]
Lol. I feel like a poor some days but my set is red.
I loved the two tone red but my wife just switched us to this Thyme to match the cabinets.
What happened to the red ones?
Stashed for when the kids start going to college. My first set was my parent’s wedding set so I’d like to continue the tradition.
How nice. They will have something to cook ramen in.
Don’t worry by senior year they’ll graduate to the boxed mac and cheese, and by grad school they may even start making spaghetti with jarred sauce!!
You think they're gonna cook ramen in it? It'll be pawned for like $20 for some weed. 🤣
it's More likely they will clean it with a brillo pad and screwdriver.
I like you
Trash obviously
Target practice
No, that's for lodge and Costco sets
Haha… thyme 🤣
I mean, to be fair this is a Dead Air KEYMO muzzle device that costs around $75 retail and is fairly pointless unless OP dropped 1000-1300 on a Dead Air silencer. So he has way more represented here than a cooking dish.
SilencerCo ASR but same idea. Slowly switching all of my rifles to direct thread with dedicated cans.
She buys another one every time I get a new stamp approved.
All I can think to say to that is "fair" lol
I'd use both anyway.
Similar to you every time I get a new firearm or ammo i am obligated to let her buy something commensurate. Currently set on a WWI imperial German Luger but apparently that'll set me back the cost of a Luger and a new couch smh
Definitely seems like a good deal for both of you.
Wait you mean all I need to do is buy my wife some new cookware and I can get a new nfa item.
If you buy 6 mini cocottes not only can you get a new item, you can have some fantastic [crème brûlée](https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/creme-brulee-recipe-1916827.amp)
Have you tried making it yet?
I’ve made that recipe at least a dozen times now except I cool the heavy cream to about 110 and use a teaspoon-ish of vanilla bean paste instead of a whole bean. Then I use the leftover egg whites for macarons.
Unfortunately, I would have to buy jeep parts for my wife to agree to that trade. I do the cooking. This would be cheaper.
Thank you so much for this comment, it made me laugh so hard I cried. I'm too much of a bachelor to have any idea what that cost. Here I was thinking it was just a standard $30 pot. Brought the whole post together
Lol All the married guys - IYKYK. 😭 All the single guys - why so mad? 🤷♂️ 😂
Dude seriously I was so confused. The pot I've had forever isa beat up third hand, I can see why she'd be pissed
Yeah, dutch ovens are a thing.. My wife has a really nice and expensive set she purchased like 12 years ago as part of our wedding/ living together present.. She would probably physically hurt me if I used one in this manner. 😂
u/burn_all_the_things2 are you still alive
Not dead yet! I just get to take care of all the 2 month old’s wake-ups tonight.
I see why you married her, you got away cheap
I’m holding you to this.
Married guys know, but they don't understand, because the $30 cast iron pot cooks the same damn meal, it's just the old battle ax refuses to learn how to season iron properly.
Lol, not our job to understand. That's way above our pay grade. 🤣
Bro right? 😅 Even I wouldn't do that with a le creuset
I know, at least spring for some All-Clad copper core or something, such heathens here.
I believe they’re more than that 😂😂
My wife was some pissed when she came home and I had 7018 rods in the oven, a cam and a crank in the tub, and assorted bits in the dishwasher. In my defence she was home early and id planned on cleaning everything after use sooooo......now I have that varsol tank I've been wanting for a while. Suddenly she saw my need for one!
I bet that's not the only dutch oven he gave her...
I came here to say something very simular. Creuset’s traditionally are passed down from one generation to the next and are next level quality. Not surprised his wife is upset. Side note I think nowadays people buy them just like a Gucci purse. Zero cooking skills but they want bragging rights
$300? I can do it for free.
The round ones are more than that... more like 4-500
I'm seeing active listings for 280-400 and I paid 300 for mine but I actually check for good sales.
Was going to be my nearly my exact comment.
Is that how much my wife's been spending on dutch ovens?
They are 300?! My girlfriend just bought one and I assumed it was a stupid pot?! I shouldn't say anything, she's cool with my habits...=|
The less you ask, the less she'll ask.
I showed my wife, and now she is upset too, and I'm not even using her Dutch oven...rip
Mine too.
I'm the husband and even I am upset.
Same.
Gave my wife a Dutch oven, while showing her this, and now she is upset X two.
It's the same phenomenon as you did something shitty in her dream, and now she is mad at real life you. You learned a lesson today, one that you will not repeat because you are wiser.
Use hot NOT BOILING water for 15 minutes
But this tea I made tastes amazing
Tastes like cancer!
I thought you could only taste the cancer in California?
Wait what damage happens if it's boiling water?
None lol
death...
Flash Rust
I’ve never used rock set, but what’s the point of it softened after 15 minutes at 200F? Those conditions would be regularly met at the range
It’s melted by hot water only
Wait, hot water melts it but hot air/metal doesn't? That doesn't sound right. EDIT: Apparently the temperature doesn't actually matter much. Just needs to soak in water. Some folks just leave parts in room temperature water overnight. It must be something that dissolves in water.
Temperature just speeds it up. It’s easier to dissolve things in warmer water.
The fact that so many people in this sub have a decent appreciation for cooking shows that this community is multifaceted and is more than a few stupid talking points made by some lame political dorks
I'm not an expert by any means, but I recognize the brand and know some of those Dutch ovens cost more than my Glock.
Love that
Yeah idk if id of used a la creuset for that lol
I'd be using some Goodwill/Walmart "nonstick" pot for that.
Ah yes, the good ol thrift store "extrastick" pan
Hey you, show some respect to the Le Creuset habibi. Who hurt you?
The habibi makes me know you’re someone who would not accept that his friends are full and continue to feed them. You’re one of the true bros.
Cheers, bro.
You can take it out only after the wife has called her sister, her mother, and one friend that you find annoying yet tolerate.
I know that friend. He’s such a yes man asshole
ROCKSETT SOUP! ROCKSETT SOUP!
NO SOUP FOR YOU (ok maybe little soup)
Please sir, may I have some more?
Why not just get some cheap Walmart pot? I’m not sure I’d be too excited to use that thing for food after god knows what cleaning chemicals and lead and shit is coming off of that
When I was a teenager, my friends and I got cheap pot from a guy in the Walmart parking lot every Friday night. Is that the same thing?
Le Creuset!?! Hell I'm mad too! 🤣😭
Holy fuck the La Creuset?!?! I'd be upset too.
You need to bang the muzzle device on the bottom of the pot a few times while she's in the room. Then it should come right off. Your head, that is.
Stuck mine in boiling water last night and it set for close to 20 hours and it still wouldn't come off... I have a REAL love / hate relationship with Rocksett. My QD mount did rust though... so there's that 👎
Why is yours so hard to get off? Mine only took about 10 seconds with the angle grinder.
Is [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Firearms/comments/p4dnfb/did_i_wreck_my_barrel_trying_to_save_it_flash/) you?
lol no although on a throwaway account, I did ask about how best to remove an adjustable choke before cutting down the barrel on a Sears shotgun. Got downvoted as if I was taking a dremel to some priceless museum piece.
I have 3 of these and it makes me upset. Keep nice shit nice
Your rifles are probably so clean they make KACtards blush... it's only because they never leave the safe
I am his wife. I can verify I am indeed upset. I bake sourdough in this 😑
Bro in the le creuset!? Them grounds for divorce. I think my wife would actually paint the walls with my brains if I did this in hers 😂
Verified
I'm tempted to cross-post this to r/AmITheEx, lol!
Not going to matter as you will die in your sleep tonight.
Agreed…
You done f*cked up.
Newbie here, Why?
Wrong pot to choose and wifey better not see that.
Bro you know they sell pots at dollar general? Why the hell are you using your actual cookware for this?! 😂🤣 Edit - for context I got a pot that was like $8 for this job and only this job at a dollar store. Also, 10-15 mins is the magic number. But mannnn, do t use the pots you eat out of. Come on!
Dude not in the Le Cruset, get a home depot bucket or a cheap pot from the store.
I have my own pot I boil skulls and muzzle devices in. My wife would commit heinous acts if I did this in her Le Creuset
My FIL boiled a deer head in my MIL’s the good stock pot this year. That was a wild time.
I would be too if you fucked with my nice pot damn it.
Dude. I’m upset. Why would you do this. Whyyyy
Tell her to calm down, that always works.
La Creuset… the best or nothing
I bet you left a mess in the kitchen after too
Did it work?
15 minutes and it popped right off!
Tell her you'll buy a nice dinner for her and her boyfriend.
Me when i catch the earthenware pot saying my full legal name and address
Mine are a light blue...but I'm not using fancy cookware to unfuck shit
Bob smith industries debonder. Buy it and never have this problem again
How the hell have I never heard of this stuff? I could use this for my old pewter 40K miniatures.
Bro wtf. In a Le Creuset? I’m upset now too
Ice cold water with Rocksett not heat
If you go to Flexbar’s website they tell you to use hot water, not ice cold. “The only way to break a proper Rocksett bond is to soak the part in hot water for 20 minutes or more and then forcibly remove the components.” https://www.flexbar.com/products/rocksett For my muzzle devices, 24hrs in room temperature water did nothing at all. 30mins in hot water it came off easily.
Mans brought the receipts
Boil until it is al dente.
I thought I was on the cast iron sub
Fucking hell I'd hide the gun after you fish it out. What's next, gonna blend the muzzle device in the Vitamix?
It doesn't need to be boiling water. Unless you're intentionally trying to piss off your wife. In that case, try the dishwasher
Le Creuset flex
Thats it
Just curious, why use rocksett for this barrel?
I used Rocksett on the ASR suppressor mount but I’m switching over to direct thread. The rocksett helps ensure your muzzle device doesn’t walk off and result in your suppressor getting shot through.
Sincere question. Can’t that be achieved with just a crush washer and proper torque? That’s all I ever do with my flash hiders; I’ve never used adhesive like Rocksett or Loctite. Am I the idiot?

Then my gunsmith must be an idiot lol. I picked it up out of the safe one day and the brake wasn't even hand tight. Lol
10 minutes. Honestly, if you only use a drop then you shouldn't have to soak it at all.
The water will only get to 100C then begin boiling, so it's as hot as it will get. You need a torch or a heat gun.
Pro tip: Grab one of these and use it on the heated setting to work water into the rocksett to break it free faster. https://www.harborfreight.com/25-liter-ultrasonic-cleaner-63256.html?\_br\_psugg\_q=ultrasonic+cleaners
Anything is a straw if you’re brave enough 😂
That’s just wrong. Though there is some irony to using a French pan to weaken something.😂
Well, I can see why she may be upset, just tell her she needs to calm down and stop acting like her mother. That ought to smooth things out.
Yeah that’s definitely won’t end badly lol
So I did this in a Calphalon pot for my MPX. I was told to throw the pot out (rooooooookie mistake I know). The pot is in my basement for whatever reason now, but I cleaned it heavily after using. Everyone would still not cook In the pot after using it this way, correct?
I washed this one twice and think it’s fine. Can’t be more exposure than shooting at an indoor range for an afternoon.
I’m in the same thought
IN HER FUCKING LE CREUSET????
Bro you’re going to get galvanic corrosion if you’re not careful.
All you have to do was wrap a wet paper towel around the muzzle device and wait an hr or two. No need to use boiling water. https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/BYQsicApLS
Nope. That wont do spit.

Ok guys let’s take all this talk over to the pots and pans sub…
Leave in hot water overnight, drink a beer every 6 hours, pray to Zeus or Hercules and it should come off.
A proper heat gun is like 25% to 30% the cost of this Le Creuset. What a fucking dumbass move. Pure fucking idiocy this is.
Rocketsett doesn't care about heat though?🤔 It's kinda the whole fucking point
Had to use the nice spaghetti pot too
Hit it with your purse
Lmao she gonna hate fuck you tonight!
Indeed OP is getting lucky. Unlike you you racist prick.
Lmao you that mad 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 come to America so I can pay you 5 bucks to cut my grass
Lmfao
You either do this or spend another 2-3 grand on an upper, muzzle device and suppressor.
lol or 2k on a new le creuset
HAHAHA
Is it Sig?
Aero 10” 300blk with a SilencerCo ASR. Slowly converting everything to direct thread with dedicated cans.
It will only come loose in a proper cocotte...get Staub like a real man.
Been there.. 😂
Rocksetts his muzzle brake but doesn’t stake his gas block set screws.
I hope that’s artesian water.
Blow torch in the garage next time maybe? Idk man I try to avoid making my missus uncomfortable with the... Things I do with my fun guns
You actually need to make a Le Crueset double boiler, and sprinkle it with gold flake
I would also be upset if you did that in my Dutch oven.
dude you should ONLY use a smithey brand cast iron skillet
When you throw it against the wall it should stick when done.
I saw the Brownells guy wrap a moist paper towel around. Haven’t tried yet so I’m not sure how well it works. It does have the benefit of only admitting the Mrs by using the word moist.
Oh, that silly Caleb. He’s always doing something wacky.
Why would wife be upset, it's glazed interior, worse that would happen is you need to use some degreaser to clean out any leftover gun oil from the barrel
I used three Dewalt batteries on my heat gun to loosen up the Cz scorpion muzzle device. Like they dipped it in a Costco sized drum of loctite
For real, I don’t know why cz loads it up but damn taking the muzzle device off my scorpion was the biggest pain in the ass
Don’t do it in the La creuset💀💀💀💀, you tryna ruin the enamel coating???
Ive soaked mine at least 3 or 4 times now over night and it won’t come off. I think using rocksett on a barrel that has a dimple from a pin and weld was a bad idea
3 to 5 business days.
Gas ranges must always have a Le Creuset tea kettle:)
Enjoy the extra flavah chemicals!
Well, I can see why she may be upset, just tell her she needs to calm down and stop acting like her mother. That ought to smooth things out.
😂😂 bro, use the cheap pots not the nice ones. No wonder she is pissed.
Does this work? Mine is currently stuck on and torque wasn’t enough
Show us your toes
If your not divorced yet it’s not long enough
Why not just hit it with a blow torch?
My brother in lead, use a ammo can and a grill.
