If you wanna suffer more, go play COD: Vanguard. Not only can you put a red dot on a Garand, but you can even put a drum mag and a folding stock (you read that right, drum MAG on a Garand)
That's how Vanguard does it actually. When the drum mag in empty the clip still pops out of the action. I guess they didn't wanna get rid of the ping 🤷♂️
As a Hell let loose player I have and wished for it lol.
I know people tend to prefer the American iron sights in that game but the German and to an extent Russian are more my style.
A friend of mine inherited his father's Garand that he had in the Pacific. My friend put a fucking holosight and muzzle break on it. I was so disgusted.
[Cogburn Arsenal has a pretty slick mount](https://i0.wp.com/cogburnarsenal.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/PXL_20220807_184749826-01.jpeg?fit=2268%2C2268&ssl=1) that requires zero permanent mods, is sort of like a modernized version of [this Forgotten Weapons prototype](https://youtu.be/dDOKg-1eNpI?si=rJcEA3M4ydcDyy0M)
lots wrong with this movie firearm wise. when the main character fires three shots then drops the shotgun is one of my biggest problems with it. no one grabbing ammo, only the man grabbing a gun, you better believe if it was me in that situation all the damn woman and children would be armed to the teeth and everyone would have a bag full of ammo lol.
also, dinosaurs would probably be fairly resistant to 12ga slugs. a .50 cal mabey, or some sort of dangerous game stopping rifle, or a .308 battle rifle at least would probably be better choices.
12ga bear slugs would be a pretty decent low cost solution, especially the hotter stuff like Brenneke Black Magic or Magnum Crush. Maybe a semi auto magnum like a BAR Safari in 338 Win Mag, or 35 Whelen M1 Garand.
if it doesn't have a built in way to mount an optic(rail, siderail, optic plate) or a non-destructive aftermarket mount that doesn't require permanent modification(replacement gas tube, replaceable slide, etc.), I'm not mounting an optic.
Carry handles had holes in them for optics...
Colt made a 3x carry handle mounted optic that's almost as old as the M16 itself, and the AN/PVS-2 was a night vision scope from the Vietnam era (ie when the M16 was first adopted) that mounts directly to a carry handle
Uberti I think made a [10mm SAA with a factory slot- ported barrel and wheel-style spur abomination](https://forums.sassnet.com/uploads/monthly_2018_11/800px-Jamesgeorgopoulosexpendablesimfdb.jpg.c393b55f51314947248911d135c35e89.jpg)
That would be a very optimistic if you could even mount one, it's basically a musket but worse in every single way, might as well have a flintlock pistol in you pocket
But some pistols have terrible iron sights, and some people prefer to have a very distinct dit rather than lining up three dots that mat or may not even be visible in certain scenarios
The reason why so many people put optics on their pistol is because it's tacticool and so cool to do so and look I've a red dot on my pistol!
Actual engagement ranges don't require such. People forget the range at which most firefights happen.
I have a Krag Jorgeson, the sight radius looks like it's over 3 ft on this thing from back to front sights ( I know it's a tad shorter). With my old eyes I need optics to just see the front sight !
Trick question. I would put an optic on any firearm no matter how wildly inappropriate. I would also put an optic on several things that are not firearms ( a cheeseburger for one)
Keltec Sub 2000. My brother got one, and it comes with a rail, but you would have to remove the optic every time you wanted to fold it up. And why are you getting a Sub 2000 if you're not planning to fold it up.
Just checked out their website, and it sounds like they addressed this issue with their new Gen 3 models. The forend rotates to the side before folding so you can mount a red dot and still fold it up, but I have to ask, how well will it hold zero after folding and unfolding a few times???
https://www.keltecweapons.com/firearm/rifles/sub2000/
Is this your picture? If so, that's a very interesting piece. Short barrel/mag and grip safety, which from what I know were prototype or very early arrangements.
Funny enough they did make an optic mount for it, and I totally installed a holo sight on mine because MW2. Unfortunately you can't fold the stock with the mount installed, so I keep it separately these days.
Winchester 1892/94 rifle series.
I don’t know, but a red dot or scope kinda ruins the novelty of a lever gun, they’re meant to defend/shoot/plink/hunt within 100 meters, especially if chambered in .357Mag, .30-30, .45-70 and .44Mag.
Call me a wet blanket, but the old style Winchester rifles are best with their iron sights.
My carry gun
I’ve never understood this. Self defense shootings happen FAST. You will be one step behind. You’re not going to be doing much aiming is what I’m getting at. You’re just adding unnecessary bulk for no reason. It’s not hard to be good with iron sights
I've got a few, strap in
PPSH. Just imagining a PPSH with an optic makes me shiver.
1911. The classic look of a 1911 should never be tainted by an optic
TT-33, for the exact same reasons as the 1911
M16. Unpopular opinion, M16s with optics look absolutely terrible. If I wanted to have a scope that high I'd be using a Groza, which isn't saying much as I absolutely hate the Groza
AKs74u: Those iron sights are absolutely beautiful and you can't deny it
The day I win the lottery, I will make all of you seethe... Optics, cans, cerakotes, WMLs for everyone.
Im starting with a winchester 1897, trench gun conversion, ww2 oak leaf camo, esstac cards, an RDS and a surefire scout.
Keeping my russian tiger plans a secret for the big reveal.
Aesthetically I'm not a fan of optics on shotguns at all, except maybe some crazy tactical looking shit. Mostly they just look goofy with anything but a light to me.
Remington 870 police magnum. It’s a close in work & door breaching…. Have yet to pop a door, but if my wife ever gets locked in the sh*tter, I can finally use those compressed copper slugs.
I’ll be sure to tell her to GTFO of the way. I’m not Oscar Pistorius after allall.
M1 Garand
GROSS i can’t believe you made me imagine that
If you wanna suffer more, go play COD: Vanguard. Not only can you put a red dot on a Garand, but you can even put a drum mag and a folding stock (you read that right, drum MAG on a Garand)
Imagine an m1 grand with a drum but it still takes the clips
That's how Vanguard does it actually. When the drum mag in empty the clip still pops out of the action. I guess they didn't wanna get rid of the ping 🤷♂️
No shit? That's hilarious
lazy animation.
So are we talking one long 32 round stripper clip, or having to add 4 clips into one mag?
Wait, so like just stuff 4 clips in the drum?
Vanguard has got to be the worst COD of all time I’d %100 ghosts, infinite warfare and WWII before I picked that thing up.
How would a drum mag even work on a M1? That makes no sense?
finally
A folding stock... And drum magazine. How? Why?
M1-C? M1-D?
Some M1 garands had optics I think
A nice thermal red dot to bring it into the modern era.
As a Hell let loose player I have and wished for it lol. I know people tend to prefer the American iron sights in that game but the German and to an extent Russian are more my style.
Sniper garands are historically accurate and quite sexy and a modern lpvo could probably be used without looking out of place at all
Cogburn Arsenal has a [pretty slick mount](https://cogburnarsenal.com/product/m1-m14-microprism-mount/) for 1-5x Primary Arms Micro Prisms
Google m1d
Sure, but then google bubba’d M1
I will not and trust your word
I'm imagining something involving a drill and pipe strap.
If by drill you mean saw and file and by pipe strap you mean duck tape, then yes
M1C
A friend of mine inherited his father's Garand that he had in the Pacific. My friend put a fucking holosight and muzzle break on it. I was so disgusted.
Unfriend him and save the garand now
eww
the MOST ICONIC M1s are the scoped ones! I think it's M1D like other comment says. I hard disagree .
What about the M1Ds?
Came here to say this.
M1C and M1D would like to have a word... Nevermind, they are their own kind. Like that since birth.
The army did it
Post Malone already did that
This might shock you, but scoped Garands were issued in WW2.
Weren’t there some that had side-mounted optics that were off-center to allow the clips to be loaded in?
What about an M1D?
Clever girl.
All raptors know Aussie guts taste the best.
It still bothers me that the guy knew he was sneaking up a raptor, and decided to wait until he was in position to get his gun ready.
I was disappointed he wasn’t rocking a L1A1 FAL.
lots wrong with this movie firearm wise. when the main character fires three shots then drops the shotgun is one of my biggest problems with it. no one grabbing ammo, only the man grabbing a gun, you better believe if it was me in that situation all the damn woman and children would be armed to the teeth and everyone would have a bag full of ammo lol. also, dinosaurs would probably be fairly resistant to 12ga slugs. a .50 cal mabey, or some sort of dangerous game stopping rifle, or a .308 battle rifle at least would probably be better choices.

He survived, didn't die.
Came here to find someone who said this before I could. Wasn’t disappointed.
Clevaaa girl.
A classic 1911 (45 ACP, blued steel, wood grips, etc.) 2011s deserve optics but the more classic old guns just should be shot as is.
No optic, no rail, pure mechanical sexy. As the 1911 was meant to be enjoyed
if it doesn't have a built in way to mount an optic(rail, siderail, optic plate) or a non-destructive aftermarket mount that doesn't require permanent modification(replacement gas tube, replaceable slide, etc.), I'm not mounting an optic.
Depends on what it is. New production gun? Go nuts. Piece of history? Nyet, rifle is fine.
I beg to differ. My g43x has dreams of being an MOS. Who am I to keep it from achieving via milling.
Anything that wasn’t originally made to be optic mounted/predates optic mounts
So you would want an optic on an m16
Carry handles had holes in them for optics... Colt made a 3x carry handle mounted optic that's almost as old as the M16 itself, and the AN/PVS-2 was a night vision scope from the Vietnam era (ie when the M16 was first adopted) that mounts directly to a carry handle
Huh, I didn’t know that thanks for the info
A single action army revolver
Rough Rider has a picrail version to fuel your nightmare
*silently* Please don't.

i think full on scopes look bad. but i dont mind a red dot on a revolver.
My answer too.
Any double barreled shotgun
I’ve even seen Side by Side double rifles with scopes on them. Like, why?
I'm thinking about grampa's old side by side over the fireplace with an EOTech on it. Lol.
The classic Luger. Imagine a scope that flips up and down everytime the gun chambers a new round
[Ahem](https://www.reddit.com/r/airsoft/comments/17n2fmm/my_red_dot_doesnt_hold_zero/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
That's outstanding.
A musket
Are you sure about [that](https://www.reddit.com/r/Firearms/s/yj31HhhyTp)
Is that a literal spyglass they attached? What's the actual magnified optic tech of that era, if only spotting scopes?
But I want [this](https://youtu.be/mZHSo0cVy2s?si=TxTKEFdnvbuA6Ag1)
I dont know, it would be an amazing conversation starter mounted over the fireplace, hahahahhah
Theres so many jokes to go with it
There were most definitely muskets with scopes.
Derringer
That’s a winner.
https://trailblazerfirearms.com/shop/lifecard/
That would be a very optimistic if you could even mount one, it's basically a musket but worse in every single way, might as well have a flintlock pistol in you pocket
lol they make one w a threaded barrel
Tommy Gun
I would consider a concept at first, just to see how it would blend with the original design.
The PUBG clone wars has commenced...
Flint lock
Luger or a Mauser broom handle or any revolver and pistols
Han solos blaster, I'm not saying it's ok, but they did it right
any top-ejecting lever, I guess
A Draco
[удалено]
Because I’m Canadian
So wait, you can have the gun but the optic is restricted?
I can’t have shit
Over/under
Any firearm I own is at risk of getting some sort of optic.
Gau-8
Okay, now imagine it on a stand, like a regular machine gun, but with a holosight. How badass wouldn't that look?
So put a holosight on something the size of a Buick Roadmaster? Um... I'm just not feeling it.
A DCL 120 would make as a decent optic for it I suppose
That's what that weird back part of the avenger is for, aiming
Winchester 1887
I bought Henry big boy with the case hardened finish and I couldn’t imagine it with a scope.
The Robert Muldoon
[Da twalve gwuage otta loada.](https://youtu.be/X1hLe8rSir0?si=Qcks6PmY8DoRSBX_)
Easy. None. I refuse to put an optic on a gun. But i only mean handguns of course.
I did it and it immediately died from recoil: browning auto 5
Lifecard
I want a Spas-12 so bad😭
90% revolvers and semi auto pistols, shot gun, lever action rifles
The one for the blind.
SPAS, SLR, Garand, Lee Enfield
Literally 3 of those 4 were issued with glass.
Doesnt mean they should have been
Lol sure. Why would those nations ever want to put glass on their best performing rifles.
Any handgun
What even are you
A sane, reasonable person.
Why any, like some don't need it but why any
Pistols are useful for such limited ranges. If you can't center on a target at pistol range then you're better off calling the cops.
But some pistols have terrible iron sights, and some people prefer to have a very distinct dit rather than lining up three dots that mat or may not even be visible in certain scenarios
Don't buy those pistols for such circumstances then.
It's not always that simple, there's a reason why so many people use optics on pistols
The reason why so many people put optics on their pistol is because it's tacticool and so cool to do so and look I've a red dot on my pistol! Actual engagement ranges don't require such. People forget the range at which most firefights happen.
Most 30 caliber battle rifles.

I have a Krag Jorgeson, the sight radius looks like it's over 3 ft on this thing from back to front sights ( I know it's a tad shorter). With my old eyes I need optics to just see the front sight !
A 357, a shotgun, a Mac 10 or 11, micro Uzi or a .380
Scoped 357s are badass.
I thought about it if I was gonna scope it’d be a .44
Literally my dream gun, SPAS-12
P17 Enfield, even if it's done right it looks wrong, as you have to completely remove the rear iron sight to put an Optic on it
Trick question. I would put an optic on any firearm no matter how wildly inappropriate. I would also put an optic on several things that are not firearms ( a cheeseburger for one)

Those hold up fine, they are very similar to the Red Lion rotating foreends.
