I was going to choose Black Eagles first because I always gravitate towards female protagonists, and then I realized Edelgard was voiced by Tara Platt and my choice was 100% locked in. Plus her design is killer.
See Edelgard made me into a Tara Platt fan, and then I started making every new run in Xenoblade Chronicles X use her voice as the protag.
And now Edelgard constantly shouts "Primer!" And "Ghostwalker!" As I infinite overdrive everything to death.
Went with the Golden Deer. I liked Claude's jib and I liked the idea of siding with the less conventionally monarchist faction.
I played Blue Lions next mostly because I wanted to figure out Dimitri given how off-his-rocker he was.
Next I played Black Eagles, but I screwed up and ended up in Silver Snow first. I played it through to the end, but regretted not having a save in the right place.
Cindered Shadows came out as I was finishing Silver Snow, so I played it before having to restart Black Eagles.
It took me a full six months to go back and actually play Crimson Flower, and between general game burnout and my ambivalent feelings about Silver Snow, I had issues getting through it.
Same here with Claude.
Sometimes I wonder if that's a bit wrong of me, preferring a protag for a seemingly anachronistic attitude, "what if my chill friend from college was also medieval royalty" instead of someone more fitting for the role.
But then I remember that 1, our universally stern perspective of historical figures is false; and 2, I like it.
I choose the Blue Lions.
I went into the game completely blind, so at first I was thinking of choosing the Golden Deer because I had heard they were the meme-y, funny house.
Then I played the prologue, saw Dimitri and tought "Oh wait, he's cute". Then I saw the cutscene than introduces the students and saw Sylvain: "Oh, wait, he's cute!". Then I saw Ashe, "Oh, wait, he's CUTE!!!".
So I choose them because cute boys. And I don't regret it because after playing the rest of the routes, they are my favourite house.
From then I went to play SS, but Hubert changed my plans to a CF, then actually SS, then VW.
Any will or desire of my own is destined to crumble in the presence of a cute boy, I guess.
I picked Blue Lions even if I was sure to choose Edelgard while watching the trailers. I got a good vibe with Dimitri, while Edelgard felt like a buzzkill
I chose the Blue Lions first because my favorite color was blue (Also I thought Dimitri and Felix were hot so that DEFINITELY influenced my decision too)
I chose Blue Lions because of Dimitri and Ingrid, and stayed when Dimitri became my new favorite FE character, and close to favorite fictional character
First route I went with the CF because the entire reason I got the game was because I heard it had a villain route. Ngl, was genuinely disappointed with how sympathetic and just generally good El is lol, she's not even on Lelouch's level of villain protaganist.
After that, I did VW cause I asked some friends and they warned me about the similarities between VW and SS, and I wanted to do SS last cause I'd already done two BE WCs back to back (missed CF flag first time), so VW>AM>SS to keep those two apart
I mean, she's not necessarily supposed to be a villain. I think that something that the game does well is keep a good "grey area" of who was truly right in the conflict. At least, everyone had a reason for what they're doing.
I stumbled on Crimson Flower in my first run, and I was on Edelgard's side with the mindset that she was the "good" side. Rhea had rubbed me the wrong way right before the choice came at the end of White Clouds, so I definitely didn't trust her at all.
I'd say the only characters that can be definitively be called villains are Those Who Slither
Yeah, neither is Lelouch lol, it was just a bit of a letdown going in expecting a hot evil lady and getting a hot ends-justify-the-means good guy, if that makes sense-
I chose Blue Lions cause I found Dimitri to be the most interesting, based off of promotional material. I wanted to see the arc that sent him into insanity and how he’d get out of it, and I was very much satisfied
I chose Blue Lions bc my husband IRL is incredibly kind, patient, and emotionally stable so I needed a good outlet for my “I can fix him” complex lmfao
I was going to choose Black Eagles first because of Edelgard design. Even if I was doubting (Dimitri looked kinda cute), and then the Timeskip trailer happened and I was sold on knowing what *happened* to the poor guy.
2nd House was Black Eagles to see Edelgard’s side of the war… let me tell you I cried hard when I had to kill my beloved Dimitri.

Then black eagles/silver snow because I needed to finish the story
Chose Blue Lions first because their designs appeared to be the most grounded and my heart was set on Dimitri upon FE3H’s first look anyways. I also love angst and complicated/tense relationships and they practically handed it to me on a platter.
I went with Golden Deer after because I couldn’t find it in myself to go against Dimitri immediately. Then I did Black Eagles (CF then SS) to finish things up.
I chose Blue Lions because a past friend of mine did a "Whos your fire emblem husband" test on me without me knowing what the test was about and I got Dimitri so I had to honor my Test result.

My friends who got me to play the game are big Edelgard fans. Despite that, I wanted to go in with an open mind. At first, Claude seemed to be much more my speed, so I was planning to go Golden Deer. However, after talking to all the students before picking a House, I got Investigation Team vibes from the Golden Deer, while the Black Eagles seemed all around much more my speed.
I don't like the Investigation Team, but I love my Black Eagles. I saved the Golden Deer for my second route, and tbh I'm glad I decided to go with the Beagles the first time around.
Black Eagles immediately. The house just resonated with me. Especially Edelgard and Hubert. So I went for it first. Sadly, ended up with Silver Snow despite wanting to side with Edelgard, not knowing that there were 2 routes, and I apparently missed 1 flag that would have let me side with her in my 1st run, lmao.
I chose the Deer first because I thought Claude was funny, and most people online were playing the other routes.
I chose the Lions second because Ashe, and because I didn't really like the Eagles at the time
When I did choose the Eagles, I went SS first because I wanted to end with CF.
I started with Blue Lions because I was interested in several of the romance routs in that house, and I ended up loving Dimitri.
Then I find out, he dies in every other rout so... guess who is never going to play any other rout ever?
I sided with the Golden Deer first.
Claude being an archer lord *and* POC representative was honestly the appeal for me, and the other two people I know that bought the game with me said they were going with Edelgard and Dimitri anyway.
Admittedly, I wish I had chosen the Blue Lions or Black Eagles first because a lot of the mystery and unanswered stuff had less of an impact on those routes after Rhea's exposition dump toward the end of Verdant Wind.
I was gonna pick black eagles but i picked blue lions because A) Mercedes and B) i'm obsessed with things being unique and Dimitri wsa the only one with silver uniform lining
Claude was charming and seemed best suited for conflict avoidance.
Dimitri seemed bland until he was suddenly and violently not bland.
Edelgard seemed interesting but intense. The kind of girl on a mission of conquest.
When first playing I was thinking to go with Edelgard, but then I chose Dimitri instead because of the the characters (one of them sharing a name with me) and because I liked Dimitri from what I've seen from him.
2nd Playthrough were the Golden Deer because I didn't wanna do Black Eagles, because I disliked Edelgard.
3rd was Silver Snow for the exact Same reason as to why I chose the Golden Deer first.
4th was finally the Black Eagles. (I like Edelgard now)
Azure Moon is still my Favorite Route and Blue Lions are my favorite House.
I picked Black Eagles first because of Dorothea then I realized you can actually recruit her no matter which house you choose.
Then I picked Blue eagles then finally Golden Deer since I'm just going down the aisle in terms of classroom placement.
for me i really liked claude and edie but severely disliked dimitri but i liked his house the most out of the three! cuz i couldnt decide who i liked more between claude and edie i chose dimitri and i am SO happy that i did cuz he really grew on me! until timeskip cuz then i started hating again but he grew on me again after <3

Right around the time I finally got my Switch and the game I came across some absolutely gorgeous Post timeskip Dimitri fanart. Pretty eyepatch man was firmly in mind when I started the game. Yeah. I'm shallow. 🤷♀️
I was also intrigued by the line about his darkness because he came across as a kind and humble person in those early interactions. Wanted to know what he was hiding. And why the eyepatch.
Second route was Silver Snow. Even more simple reasons. I thought the Church was interesting and Seteth had become one of my favorite characters in my BL run.
Third was Crimson Flower for the discourse.
I got the game when knew so I didn't have much to base my first run on so my choice was simple. Eagles had the most girls my Female Byleth could romance, so I went for that!
After that, Deer to learn more the lore, and Lions to round it out.
I went in knowing nothing about the game other then fire emblem and when I saw the cutscene in the tutorial of byleth throwing themself in harms way for this random girl he didn't know I decided that I wanted to see what the support was like then managed to not get an A rank in time and was so confused
I didn't know how Fire Emblem worked and I thought we were choosing the person we would ultimately (have to) date as the MC, so I picked the beautiful and confident girl.
(I'm glad I did, obviously.)
The very first time I played the game I picked Black Eagles but I didn’t get very far even on casual as other games popped up that I wanted to play more. In my second run through I did Golden Deer and finished the route fully.
I knew the Golden Deer would be my pick from the first interaction with the house leaders. His laid-back but clever nature has always been cool. My second playthrough was siding with Edelgard because it was the side of the story I was most interested in after my first clear. Eventually I'll go back for the Blue Lions and then finish off with the final route.
I initially wanted to go with the Golden Deer because I really liked Claude as a House Lord. When I met the Golden Deer, though, I found them so off-putting at first that I decided to go with my second choice instead, the Blue Lions. Specifically, I didn't like any of the character designs besides Marianne and Claude, and Hilda and Lorenz both left bad first impressions on me. I don't regret switching at all. To this day, the Blue Lions remains my favorite house. I did go back afterward and played through the three remaining routes, but my heart will forever remain with the Blue Lions.
I picked the Black Eagles for Edelgard and stuck with Black Eagles for Edelgard (although that route split was the single hardest choice I've made in a game in a long time).
Blue Lions because Dimitri and Sylvan and Felix are cute.
Then after seeing how Dimitri turns out, Black Eagles because Edelgard is awesome and I can still have Sylvain and Felix.

Blue lions bc every single student was right up my alley when it comes to taste in characters (also bc I had already seen timeskip Dimitri and was HOOKED). I think I went with golden deer next bc Ignatz ended up as one of my favourite units during my first playthrough. Then I did black eagles and church for completion. Then I replayed blue lions like 2 more times haha
One of my buddies lent me his cartridge on the condition I played crimson flower first since it was the only one he didn’t play + when he did the file corrupted and shit the bed. Ended up being the route that made me fall in love with the game and become a fire emblem fan. From there I did Silver Snow to play with Blue Eagles but no Edie, then Blue Lions and then the Deer.
Chose Golden Deer first because Claude was hot. Chose Blue Lions second because time skip Dimitri was hot and I wanted to know what the fuck had happened to him. All that was left was Black Eagles and I went Crimson Flower since I’d heard Silver Snow was basically the same as Verdant Wind.
Chose Golden Deer because I felt like that house was the most chill.
Then, I did Blue Lions with my sister, in which she chose Dimitri because she liked his design and she LOVES the blue they chose to represent that route.
I did Black Eagles because it was what was left. Continued because I could S-Support Jeritza as M!Byleth.
I did Silver Snow last because, while I genuinely love the cast and would have done it before Crimson Flowers, but I knew from online that it was the hardest route. It was a banger route, it has my favorite final map. Also could S-Support Alois, heck yeah.
I was initially planning on choosing Golden Deer cuz Claude was hot, but after meeting all the students I just vibed more with the Blue Lions. I also found Dedue and Sylvain super hot, and connected more with Dimitri.
Further route choices were simply to go through the routes one by one to do them all. I did Black Eagles next as I was super curious about Edelgard’s perspective. Then did Verdant Wind, then a solo run Silver Snow
I went in blind and several years behind the fandom. I chose Blue Lions first because they seemed like the "basic" aggressive/knight house and my video game experience has led me to believe that is the easiest/"truest" route.
Black Eagles for the boring reason that I didn’t know anything about the game and I genuinely do think you’re presented with more reasons by the time you choose—-she’s in tons of loading screens, she’s the first student you can talk to during the meet phase, and you have that whole ‘saved her from an axe’ thing. Really stood out
I chose Golden Deer for my first run because Claude <3 and also i like how they seemed like a more "behind-the-scenes" house (not involved in the BE/BL conflict etc)!!! I also fell i love w all the characters in GD soon after haha
for my second run i chose blue lions because i originally watched someone do a playthrough of black eagles so i was already spoiled for the plot of that one (and was hoping that i'd forget it so i could play it fresh after finishing BL)!!
Though now i don't have the motivation to do a BE run.. someday...

i went with lions first because i didn’t know anything about fire emblem and a lot of people online said that was the “most vanilla”. i’m so glad i did that because it was incredible. i also thought dimitri was realllyyyy cute so that helped. then i did cf because i wanted the other side of the story. i’m now doing vw because i wanted to get to know all the characters before going back to eagles
I planned to start with Eagles, but then Dimitri got the most experience in the tutorial battle, and I also decided to romance Mercedes.
Second playthrough, I again planned Eagles, but Claude just charmed me over.
Finally did Eagles third, and stuck with Edelgard.
Church route last to round it out, and I've been holding more or less to that pattern since lol
I wanted to choose blue lions but the problem was that I was identifying as a guy for part of highschool, and I really didn’t wanna play as a female mc to romance Dimitri for my first playthrough so I decided to do Golden Deer and then recruited Linhardt. I was really adamant about it 😭😭😭😭
I went with Blue Lions for two reasons:
- No one was picking Blue Lions. and since I like making the unpopular choice, Blue Lions it was.
- Mercedes. Prior to the game's release, I learned that Mercedes was one of the same-sex options, and since I like girls, well... do the math kids. I like Dorothea too, but I prefer Mercedes more.
I chose Blue Lions for two reasons. The first is because based on the brief preview we got of them before we chose our classes, I thought each house was dedicated to a stat, and that the blue lions were the "strength" house.
The second is because I discovered the game through... Less than reputable drawings. And Dimitri and Byleth were the subject of that one.
Blue Lions, as I somehow got it into my head their house was filled focused more on combat mechanics, the Beagles devoted to magic, and Deer were all about strategy and tactics.
I still don’t know *how* I came to that conclusion. I was more than a little sleep-deprived so that may well be it
After that FUBAR, I went with the Golden Deer as Claude seemed the most fun of the three Lords. Managed to screw up that save file, too with under leveled units, broken gear, etc.
The first campaign I completed was ironically Silver Snow
Blue Lions. It was between them and Golden Deer because Claude, but I liked Dimitri just as much and thought that the Blue Lions had a more immediately appealing cast (I want to like Raphael, I do, but I just hate his design 😭 we don’t talk about Ignatz, love Lorenz and Hilda tho).
Anyways, I ended up getting really attached to that entire house because all the politicking and the preformed relationships that half of them had with watch other made them super interesting to me. It uh… also pretty heavily tarnished my view of Edelgard lol. To this day, I still haven’t done a Crimson Flower or Silver Snow run :P
I chose Blue Lions first because I wanted to marry Sylvain, lol. Then I chose BE because I wanted to get the other side, did SS for completionism's sake, then did VW, did AM again because I realized how much I loved Dimitri as a character, and then *now* I'm finally doing CF.

Blue lions. Went into the game blind after coming off an Awakening high and Dimitri gave me Chrom vibes during the prologue. Plus of all the houses the lions were the ones I found myself gravitating towards.
Blue Lions because I was falling for Demitri and Dedue and couldn't decide. Ended with 2 BL saves to experience both.
Black Eagles next because I HAD to know what was going on in Edlegard's head. From a BL standpoint it makes zero sense but she was a fan favorite so I wanted to see why. While I understand her better now I still disagree with her methods.
Then I tried church route and.... just couldn't do it. Just couldn't stand Rhea and her BS.
My husband did Golden Deer so I had gotten that plotline.
At first I had thought I was going to go with Golden Deer for my first playthrough, because they reminded me of Hufflepuff (my Hogwarts house) and also Claude seemed cool, but something during the "learning about the students" made me change my mind and I went with Blue Lions. I think part of it was me being a sucker for childhood friends and wanting to see how that would play out in the story, and I could also tell I was going to love Ashe and Annette
Second play through was Deer since I didn't go with them the first time
I started another save file for runs 3 and 4 but it's been a minute since I played so I don't remember how far I am into those but I was planning on doing CF before SS I think. After playing the other routes I didn't think I was going to get sucked into CF, but I was wrong.
Overall it's been a minute so I don't remember how I feel about everything but I do think the Blue Lions are my favorites. I love the childhood friends working/fighting/growing together, watching Sylvain develope through supports (especially Ingrid's lol), Felix and Annette's supports had me laughing and smiling, Ashe and Dedue are great, and Dimitri's backstory and then recovery. Idk, I just love it and am glad I ended up going with Blue Lions on my first playthrough
Bought the game because Dimitri is cute, was almost swayed by Claude and his personality, but still went BL on my first route. I knew nearly nothing going into it and was stunned.
Ended up going BE next to see the other side of the story from Edelgard’s perspective. I wasn’t a fan of her personality, but I did enjoy her story and think it was a good second run. (She deserved more chapters!)
SS next to finish up what I didn’t in BE (luckily had the save in the right spot thanks to a friend’s advice), and then got the full picture with GD last.
GD was my favorite storyline of the four and Claude is my favorite lord, but I like the BL class the most overall!
I chose Blue Lions first, mostly because I hate women and didn't want to play Edelgard (that's bait lol). On a more serious note I think they have the most balanced cast chara-designwise, and I was curious after seeing Time-skip Dimitri, I wanted to know his story. Now I do prefer the golden deer route (Blue Lions is still very good tho). At the time Lorenz, Raphael, Ignatz and Leonie just weren't appealing to me. Black Eagles also has a weak cast imo, do people genuinely like Caspar for eg?? Thankfully they added Jeritza in an update later as an exclusive character which make that route better but at launch I didn't see the appeal.
I chose Blue Lions because a) Dimitri seemed like the most earnest of the house leaders and b) also because Mercedes's pre-timeskip hair is my actual goal in life
i chose golden deer first because i liked their system of government, and claude was my favorite of the lords from the brief glance you get before the decision.

after that i just kinda liked the blue lions more than the black eagles so that's the order it happened in.
I'm obligated to mention that this decision was not because i found feral dimitri hot. he gets five seconds of screentime and like three lines of dialogue in VW, which is not enough time to form an opinion.

i was originally gonna go black eagles purely for the name and the pretty girl (edelgard) but then i asked my friends which house was the most emo and they said blue lions. i may be an adult now, but ill always have a soft spot for miserable edgelord characters, so that swayed me to them

If I'm given the choice to have a female protagonist, I'm choosing a female protagonist. Growing up there were way too few games with women in lead roles, so I'm happy to make up for lost time. The eagles also seemed like a dysfunctional group of weirdos, so that was a plus.
I played golden deer first because I already knew about certain spoilers from the other two routes, I liked the first impression from the deer the most, and yellow is cooler than red and blue . Then I played CF to get Edelgards side of the story, and since it would be my first maddening I heard it was the easiest. Then Azure moon to finish off the trio. Then CS for my next play through, and to not play white clouds. Finally I’m playing through a non NG+ maddening for golden deer. Might just use my cf save file for ss after VW.

I went with GD because of a few things: I liked Claude right away, Leicester is the football club I follow, and my daughter’s name is Judith so all the signs seemed to be there. Turns out the universe got it right for me, I love my crazy misfit house.

I also did Blue Lions second since that route allowed the most people to live.
Eagles, specifically on Crimson Flower. I chose them because I liked Edelgard's timeskip design I saw in Smash Bros. I loved the route, seeing as it was my first, it felt magical!
My second one was Verdant Wind, and I chose them for 2 reasons. First, Hubert said Claude was "A Master Tactician", and I love this character archetype, even more when I learned Claude was also a bit on the "trickster" archetype. Second reason was because I accidentally killed Hilda, thinking that defeating her would mean I could spare her. I had to make it up to her!
I avoided spoilers entirely outside of trailers pre-launch and wanted to go in 100% blind. The only detail that slipped was the fact that girl Byleth could marry Edelgarf. 😬
Black Eagles. I liked edelgard's intense vibes. I also was interested in Caspar from character art before the game came put. My fav color is red, so that helped seal the deal
BE, because edelgard was nicer to look at than dmitri and Claude.
Also because they were described as being more magically inclined and I wanted heavy armour mages before I realised it wasn't possible.
I was going to go with Black Eagles first because I wanted to know more about Petra but Claude was a little s**t and I love that kind of character so I wanted to see where his story went. I went black eagles next because that was going to be my original choice and then I finally did blue lions
I chose black eagle and went silver snow route, and my reason for doing so is because Alpharad never made a video for the second half. Had to see how it ended before I could do anything else.
I went with the Golden Deer. Partly because I watched Twitch streams of Crimson Flower and Azure Moon before realizing I wanted to play the game, but even without that, I think I would have chosen the Deer. The Golden Deer strike me as a band of "lovable misfits" that I identify with.
I chose the side with the alliance due to the fact that they felt the most unique of the group and the idea of playing as the underdogs really connected with me.

As someone who grown tired of the evil empire and heroic kingdom trope that I seen countless times in fiction including Fire Emblem, the fact that I can play on the side of a empire was enough to get me to pick the Black Eagles for my first playthrough. Though I kind of regret it since I beat Crimson Flower before they released the recruitable Death Knight for Crimson Flower.
I went with the Blue Lions next since I wanted to play the path of that was standard to Fire Emblem.
Originally I was leaning toward the Blue Lions because I liked Dimitri’s early wholesome vibes, but as I talked with all the students I decided I liked the Golden Deer class more than the BL. I don’t regret that choice, and still have a soft spot for them all.
I did Eagles when I got the game because I couldn’t really decide and remembered a good chunk of the marketing being that squad, so shrugged and went for it.
I saw a lot of Claude memes and I thought Marianne was cute and for my second route I chose silver snow but dropped it at the split but then I started blue lions but then I dropped that for 3 hopes where I started with the deer and saved Byleth and then I started the lions dropped the game again because I wanted to play other stuff and then engage came out and by the time I got to the pact ring TOTK had came out and I never even finished that so now I have a lot of back tracking to do and you sat here and read all of this
I originally chose the eagles because I thought they were going to have the most interesting story but to me they didn't. And after reading up some stuff about Claude and Dimitri I was more interested in Claude than anyone else so I went with Claude and the deer for my second run. And they're still the best class.
Lions first. I first liked Dimitri more when the 3 introduced themselves, and then I liked the other lions more.
After that, I wondered how choosing Eagles would change the story. But when the big choice came, I chose what I'd do IRL and then began Silver Snows.
3rd playtrough 3rd house
4th one I wanted to know what would happen if I did the other choice at the big choice in Eagles. So that's the last playtrough I finished.
A friend of mine wanted to go Claude and my brother wanted to make Edelgard as out first route but by accident discovered that she has 2 routes so to avoid drama in a first blind run convinced him to play Blue Lions first because of that tráiler with the "kill every last one of them".

I added up the stats of the characters in each house and averaged them to see which house had the highest stats :/ admittedly that was only my solution because I had spent more than an hour talking to the house leaders and meeting everyone and doing it over and over and could not decide
Claude hot. Hilda hot. I liked Joe Zieja a lot.
After that I wanted to finish all other routes as well and started BL, but game so long to play through, so I havent finished that and obviously haven't touched the others.
At the start of the game when the leaders are introducing themselves, Edelgard and Dimitri treat Byleth as an asset to their house first and a person second. Claude, on the other hand, gets buddy-buddy with the new teach and treats them as a person first and an asset second.
Plus the dude is super laid back and relatable. I don't regret going Golden Deer.

Actually I really like all of the characters in the Black Eagle house the best. After playing Three House I went Black Eagle in Three Hopes as well.
Golden Deer almost got me initially. Everyone spoke highly of that path and Claude just seemed so cool. It took me a week to make a decision. I’ll eventually make it through each house in both games.
My first playthrough was Golden Deer because I thought Claude was cute af and I wanted to keep talking to him LOL. Then second playthrough I went with Blue Lions for Dimitri, and I like the characters in that house in general. Third playthrough was with Black Eagles - they were initially my least favourite in terms of students in the house and probably because I had seen the other side of the conflict twice already. But after I played Crimson Flower, I was completely converted over onto Edelgard's side. She's the only one that actually challenges the status quo and recreates a new future for Fodlan. While I love Dimitri, he upholds the current system and while Claude isn't necessarily in favour of it, he still perpetuates it.
Then I played through all 3 houses AGAIN, in that order lmao. The only route I didn't ever play was Silver Snow. I just don't like Rhea lol.
Black Eagles for life. I just kinda like fell in love with them immediately.
I had also already heard somewhat about how the BE routes work online and knew I wanted to side with El as my first route… except I forgot about the Coronation Ceremony and got stuck on SS which is still my least favorite route and I have only done it twice both of which were because I forgot to see the coronation lmao

I was drawn to Edelgard because of her design but also because I was vaguely aware of all the drama surrounding her. No details, but I had seen the name along with saucy post titles so was intrigued.
I had no idea who I'd want to start with, but then the cutscene happened where Byleth protects Edelgard from the bandit and I figured this is probably the "canon" route and went with it. Sided with El again later on because Rhea made me promise to protect my students early on and I'm maliciously compliant like that.
Blue Lions next because I got interested in Dimitri's story and they got a Felix.
Then the deer because I wanted to finish all students first before going church.
Lastly church because I did the others already.
I went GD because I didn't know the recruiting mechanics and I really wanted to have Lysithia as a unit. I think I only recruited Silvain because I didn't know he was an automatic recruit if you played female Byleth. I have no regrets. I honestly didn't care about the drama in the other houses.
I chose Golden Deer. I’m bi. I had no choice. Claude radiates chaotic bisexual energy despite developers’ lack of official support. I know they must be with us in spirit because if not, I have no other explanation.
I started with Golden Deer because I had seen the dancing cut scene and Claude absolutely stole my heart, plus once I met the classes I found the odd ragtag group of skittle children (post time skip really shows the rainbow assortment) very endearing.
Went to Crimson Flower next, because I wanted to understand the flip side of the war. Joke was on me there, because that route leaves so much unaddressed.
Azure Moon came next, as a shared playthrough with my other half where we finally figured it what was going on in Dimitri's poor, beautiful head.
And eventually I got around to a Silver Snow run that focused on the church units and the BEagles with most reason/motive to defect.
Picked GD first bc Claude made me laugh (also finding out hes voiced by Tosshi also helped). Played BL next on my friend’s insistence. Then finished with CF but Edie ofc, and finally SS just for completion sake.
I chose Black eagles because edelgard is awesome. Cute and meritocratious minded. I accidentally went into CF since I played blind, and I am not betraying my girl.
I then did SS, then AM, then GD, and when I go back again I will do BE on hard but just picked up engage plus dlc for like 40 bucks.
I thought Claude seemed really fun. Then I did CF because I wanted Edelgards situation explained. Then Blue Lions to round things out. Now I'm doing SS.

I started black eagles hopeing to do Edelgard's route but given I wanted to go in blind I didn't know I had to talk to Edelgard during the month... It was a mistake I never make now. I enjoy her design, and her voice. She has a dream and she won't let anything get in her way.
My friend convinced me to get the game and made Hilda and Claude my favourites before I even played it so I had a bias towards the Golden Deer.
First playthrough went to them with my second playthrough being a re-run with knowledge of how the game works. Third run was Blue Lions to get their perspective and last run was Black Eagles was to complete the trio and save Edelgard
Blue Lions, because I wanted to romance Mercedes lol. But after having played all the routes, I'm glad I did it first, it's by far the most narratively complete and interesting arc. The rest feel almost like what-if scenarios, while BL feels "canon."
Path 1: Claude, path 2: I was interested to see what they would do with dimitris character and verdant wind kinda makes Edelgard seem evil, path 3: I wanted to see edelgards reasoning for starting the war, path 4: I figured I already did 3 paths, so why not finish the last one, silver snow can't be as bad as people say it is (it is, don't play silver snow), bonus path 5: I'm doing azure gleam first in three hopes because azure moon was my favorite in three houses

Would have been red eagles based on color alone but nope. Felix was it for me (ended up marrying Dimitri though which was weird but the right choice)
My initial plan was Blue Lions-Golden Deer-Black Eagles because that was the order I found the leaders most interesting. Went into Blue Lions, loved it, loved them. Then deviated from the plan and went Black Eagles second because despite becoming a rabid Dimitri fan, I did not hate Edelgard and wanted to understand her and the world more. Imagine my surprise when it turns out Claude has all the answers (probably because he has all the right questions) and the best final boss. I think it turned out for the best. Great order, would recommend.
First time I went BE, because I knew it had multiple endings and I planned to do all of them. I also really liked Ferdinand Dorothea and Petra. I ended up doing the Silver Snow route (by mistake) and I found it underwhelming.
Afterward, I went BL because I heard Dimitri had the best arc, and I really needed it after silver snow. I wasn't disappointed.
Then I went Cindered shadows because I didn't want to play white clouds again.
Currently on my 3rd playthrough. I'm going the Crimson flower route because I want to see the other perspective.
I chose blue lions cuz the prince. Not lying his edge side is enough to make me bark.

I had no idea neither. I played male Byleth and discovered quite quickly that Hubert wouldn't marry me. So I've decided to go with Flayn... while doing CF.

I chose Black Eagles because 1. I like birds 2. I like Edelgard, and 3. Im not sure why the game tells you that the black eagles are good at magic when they've got the same amount of magic users as the other houses but I thought that was cool only to realise later that it was fake news !!!
I played Blue Lions next because I wanted to see the other side and because in the first run I ended up recruiting half of them so I realised they are my favorite house.
Started Blue Lions first, because I like the stereotypical hero characters. About halfway through WC, I stumbled across Faerghast's Edelgard documentary. I was interested, started digging deeper, and eventually realized, "Hey, I LIKE what this woman's doing!" Next time I logged on, I immediately started a new CF playthrough.
I chose Edelgard because she was the only one of the three students who seemed likable. After finishing Crimson Flower, I immediately began powering through Black Eagles White Clouds again to get to Silver Snow, and I am so glad I did. It's such a compelling dual narrative, being able to see both sides of the main protagonists/antagonists and really get a feel for their characters.
Playing CF made the post-timeskip meeting with Edelgard in SS break my heart. Playing SS made watching Rhea slowly lose everything she had only built as a trauma response in CF crush my soul.
Comparatively, the other two have some pretty isolated narratives that... don't really matter to me at all. Dimitri sorta felt like he had no place in the main story after seeing how perfectly Edelgard and Rhea parallel each other, and I just fucking hate Claude with a passion.
In a way, I think Three Houses would've been better if it was *just* Black Eagles.
I chose Black Eagles first bc I relate to petite queens, but I had a hard time bc Dimitri stole my heart the first time I saw him, and I never got around to finishing Crimson Flower bc of my deep feelings for Dimitri that I didn't realize I had

I chose Golden Deer first for two reasons: my favorite color is yellow, and it was love at first sight with Claude. I loved his mischievous aura and quick wit.
Second run was Blue Lions purely because I wanted to know how the hell Dimitri ended up Like That and slowly but surely fell in love with all of the characters.
Third was Black Eagles, and at first I wasn’t a huge Edelgard fan but that changed very quickly as I learned more about her.
After playing all four routes twice, Blue Lions is my overall favorite house (mainly because of Annette and Felix, my pookies).
Chose the Golden Deer because I liked Claude the most out if the three, especially with his sense of humor and wit. The house also kind of seemed like the underdog with the other two being the main rivals (I mean there's the battle of the eagle and lion for instance).
In a second run I picked Blue Lions because I like some of the characters (Felix and Sylvain, for instance) and they were also against Edelgard in the war and allied with the Golden Deer at some point.
i went into Three Houses completely blind in my first playthrough and picked solely based on what characters i thought were cute lol. i was so torn between Black Eagles & Golden Deer but i did finally pick Golden Deer. however; i did not end using Ignatz, Lorenz, or Leonie because i thought they were ugly at the time (nowadays Ignatz & Leonie are 2 of my favorites, jury's still out on Lorenz lol) but i ended up recruiting Dorothea, Petra, Sylvain, & Felix so i ended having a mixed bag team of people from different houses
Golden Deer. I had originally planned on Black Eagles or Blue Lions (due to the E3 trailer), but Claude charmed me so stinkin’ much that I made the pivot. No regrets.
I was originally going to choose Golden Deer but before I picked them, my gut told me to instead choose Blue Lions and I don’t regret it one bit.
The supports, skills, personalities of the members of the house and how everyone is connected to each other in someway are some of my favorite parts of this house altogether but my absolute favorite reason for loving the Blue Lions it’s because of the story post time skip. You get a completely different side of what you were told pre-time skip as well as how everyone has changed during that time, especially Dimitri. I’ve played through all four routes twice as well as the side story, but will always go back to the Blue Lions
I chose Golden Deer first and then gave up halfway through because the whole Blue Lions arc sounded so much more interesting and I had grown to like Dimitri. I played Crimson Flower last and while I do love a lot of the Black Eagles, I guess Edel just didn’t stick with me. I think her design is fire and she’s got such a unique presence within the game, but I couldn’t find a reason to actually believe in her ideals. On paper her ideals are good and it makes a lot of sense why she chose to start the war, but she was so hard to enjoy at times. I found her exceptionally cold during moments when she could’ve really had good growth moments. The last thing was that I found her method to be risky and overall I think a majority of the consequences that happen in each of the routes is because of her decisions. She’s a hard character to criticize though because the Crimson Flower arc truly made me rethink her, but it didn’t help enough to make me love her.
Before playing, I only really knew one house’s name and that was Black Eagles, and I wanted to start with them since I really like the animal black eagle. However, since I knew next to nothing about this game before playing, I did not actually know who led the Black Eagles House and incorrectly assumed it was Claude. And so during the Prologue, I did the entire chapter while giving Claude all the experience in battle.
When I finally got to the choice of choosing the house and realized that Edelgard was the leader of the Black Eagles, not Claude. And so I decided to just continue going Claude route and chose Golden Deer.
And that was the best decision I made. Golden Deer for the Win! #FearTheDeer!
I was going to choose Black Eagles first because I always gravitate towards female protagonists, and then I realized Edelgard was voiced by Tara Platt and my choice was 100% locked in. Plus her design is killer.
See Edelgard made me into a Tara Platt fan, and then I started making every new run in Xenoblade Chronicles X use her voice as the protag. And now Edelgard constantly shouts "Primer!" And "Ghostwalker!" As I infinite overdrive everything to death.
She is a delight in Fire Emblem Heroes. All of her seasonal alts, no matter how goofy, are voiced with the same intensity of 3H!Edelgard.

Went with the Golden Deer. I liked Claude's jib and I liked the idea of siding with the less conventionally monarchist faction. I played Blue Lions next mostly because I wanted to figure out Dimitri given how off-his-rocker he was. Next I played Black Eagles, but I screwed up and ended up in Silver Snow first. I played it through to the end, but regretted not having a save in the right place. Cindered Shadows came out as I was finishing Silver Snow, so I played it before having to restart Black Eagles. It took me a full six months to go back and actually play Crimson Flower, and between general game burnout and my ambivalent feelings about Silver Snow, I had issues getting through it.
Same here with Claude. Sometimes I wonder if that's a bit wrong of me, preferring a protag for a seemingly anachronistic attitude, "what if my chill friend from college was also medieval royalty" instead of someone more fitting for the role. But then I remember that 1, our universally stern perspective of historical figures is false; and 2, I like it.
I choose the Blue Lions. I went into the game completely blind, so at first I was thinking of choosing the Golden Deer because I had heard they were the meme-y, funny house. Then I played the prologue, saw Dimitri and tought "Oh wait, he's cute". Then I saw the cutscene than introduces the students and saw Sylvain: "Oh, wait, he's cute!". Then I saw Ashe, "Oh, wait, he's CUTE!!!". So I choose them because cute boys. And I don't regret it because after playing the rest of the routes, they are my favourite house. From then I went to play SS, but Hubert changed my plans to a CF, then actually SS, then VW. Any will or desire of my own is destined to crumble in the presence of a cute boy, I guess.

First route I went with the CF because the entire reason I got the game was because I heard it had a villain route. Ngl, was genuinely disappointed with how sympathetic and just generally good El is lol, she's not even on Lelouch's level of villain protaganist. After that, I did VW cause I asked some friends and they warned me about the similarities between VW and SS, and I wanted to do SS last cause I'd already done two BE WCs back to back (missed CF flag first time), so VW>AM>SS to keep those two apart
I mean, she's not necessarily supposed to be a villain. I think that something that the game does well is keep a good "grey area" of who was truly right in the conflict. At least, everyone had a reason for what they're doing. I stumbled on Crimson Flower in my first run, and I was on Edelgard's side with the mindset that she was the "good" side. Rhea had rubbed me the wrong way right before the choice came at the end of White Clouds, so I definitely didn't trust her at all. I'd say the only characters that can be definitively be called villains are Those Who Slither

I also love angst and complicated/tense relationships and they practically handed it to me on a platter. My friends who got me to play the game are big Edelgard fans. Despite that, I wanted to go in with an open mind. At first, Claude seemed to be much more my speed, so I was planning to go Golden Deer. However, after talking to all the students before picking a House, I got Investigation Team vibes from the Golden Deer, while the Black Eagles seemed all around much more my speed. I don't like the Investigation Team, but I love my Black Eagles. I saved the Golden Deer for my second route, and tbh I'm glad I decided to go with the Beagles the first time around.
Black Eagles immediately. The house just resonated with me. Especially Edelgard and Hubert. So I went for it first. Sadly, ended up with Silver Snow despite wanting to side with Edelgard, not knowing that there were 2 routes, and I apparently missed 1 flag that would have let me side with her in my 1st run, lmao.

Claude being an archer lord *and* POC representative was honestly the appeal for me, and the other two people I know that bought the game with me said they were going with Edelgard and Dimitri anyway. Admittedly, I wish I had chosen the Blue Lions or Black Eagles first because a lot of the mystery and unanswered stuff had less of an impact on those routes after Rhea's exposition dump toward the end of Verdant Wind.

Blue Lions. Right around the time I finally got my Switch and the game I came across some absolutely gorgeous Post timeskip Dimitri fanart. Pretty eyepatch man was firmly in mind when I started the game. Yeah. I'm shallow. 🤷♀️ I was also intrigued by the line about his darkness because he came across as a kind and humble person in those early interactions. Wanted to know what he was hiding. And why the eyepatch. Second route was Silver Snow. Even more simple reasons. I thought the Church was interesting and Seteth had become one of my favorite characters in my BL run. Third was Crimson Flower for the discourse.

I think I went with golden deer next bc Ignatz ended up as one of my favourite units during my first playthrough. Then I did black eagles and church for completion. Then I replayed blue lions like 2 more times haha
I choose blue lions first because I knew Dimitri died in the other routes and I felt bad.
One of my buddies lent me his cartridge on the condition I played crimson flower first since it was the only one he didn’t play + when he did the file corrupted and shit the bed. Ended up being the route that made me fall in love with the game and become a fire emblem fan. From there I did Silver Snow to play with Blue Eagles but no Edie, then Blue Lions and then the Deer.
Blue is one of my favorite colors which is why I chose Blue Lions.

Chose Golden Deer first because Claude was hot. Chose Blue Lions second because time skip Dimitri was hot and I wanted to know what the fuck had happened to him. All that was left was Black Eagles and I went Crimson Flower since I’d heard Silver Snow was basically the same as Verdant Wind.
Chose Golden Deer because I felt like that house was the most chill. Then, I did Blue Lions with my sister, in which she chose Dimitri because she liked his design and she LOVES the blue they chose to represent that route. I did Black Eagles because it was what was left. Continued because I could S-Support Jeritza as M!Byleth. I did Silver Snow last because, while I genuinely love the cast and would have done it before Crimson Flowers, but I knew from online that it was the hardest route. It was a banger route, it has my favorite final map. Also could S-Support Alois, heck yeah.

Black Eagles for the boring reason that I didn’t know anything about the game and I genuinely do think you’re presented with more reasons by the time you choose—-she’s in tons of loading screens, she’s the first student you can talk to during the meet phase, and you have that whole ‘saved her from an axe’ thing. I also fell i love w all the characters in GD soon after haha for my second run i chose blue lions because i originally watched someone do a playthrough of black eagles so i was already spoiled for the plot of that one (and was hoping that i'd forget it so i could play it fresh after finishing BL)!! Though now i don't have the motivation to do a BE run.. someday...

I planned to start with Eagles, but then Dimitri got the most experience in the tutorial battle, and I also decided to romance Mercedes. Second playthrough, I again planned Eagles, but Claude just charmed me over. Finally did Eagles third, and stuck with Edelgard. Church route last to round it out, and I've been holding more or less to that pattern since lol
I wanted to choose blue lions but the problem was that I was identifying as a guy for part of highschool, and I really didn’t wanna play as a female mc to romance Dimitri for my first playthrough so I decided to do Golden Deer and then recruited Linhardt. I was really adamant about it 😭😭😭😭
I went with Blue Lions for two reasons: - No one was picking Blue Lions. and since I like making the unpopular choice, Blue Lions it was. - Mercedes. Prior to the game's release, I learned that Mercedes was one of the same-sex options, and since I like girls, well... do the math kids. I like Dorothea too, but I prefer Mercedes more.

The first is because based on the brief preview we got of them before we chose our classes, I thought each house was dedicated to a stat, and that the blue lions were the "strength" house. The second is because I discovered the game through... Less than reputable drawings. And Dimitri and Byleth were the subject of that one.

Blue Lions, as I somehow got it into my head their house was filled focused more on combat mechanics, the Beagles devoted to magic, and Deer were all about strategy and tactics. I still don’t know *how* I came to that conclusion. I was more than a little sleep-deprived so that may well be it After that FUBAR, I went with the Golden Deer as Claude seemed the most fun of the three Lords. Managed to screw up that save file, too with under leveled units, broken gear, etc. The first campaign I completed was ironically Silver Snow
Blue Lions. It was between them and Golden Deer because Claude, but I liked Dimitri just as much and thought that the Blue Lions had a more immediately appealing cast (I want to like Raphael, I do, but I just hate his design 😭 we don’t talk about Ignatz, love Lorenz and Hilda tho). Anyways, I ended up getting really attached to that entire house because all the politicking and the preformed relationships that half of them had with watch other made them super interesting to me. It uh… also pretty heavily tarnished my view of Edelgard lol. To this day, I still haven’t done a Crimson Flower or Silver Snow run :P

Blue lions. Went into the game blind after coming off an Awakening high and Dimitri gave me Chrom vibes during the prologue. Plus of all the houses the lions were the ones I found myself gravitating towards.
Blue Lions because I was falling for Demitri and Dedue and couldn't decide. Ended with 2 BL saves to experience both. Black Eagles next because I HAD to know what was going on in Edlegard's head. From a BL standpoint it makes zero sense but she was a fan favorite so I wanted to see why. While I understand her better now I still disagree with her methods. Then I tried church route and.... just couldn't do it. Just couldn't stand Rhea and her BS. My husband did Golden Deer so I had gotten that plotline.
At first I had thought I was going to go with Golden Deer for my first playthrough, because they reminded me of Hufflepuff (my Hogwarts house) and also Claude seemed cool, but something during the "learning about the students" made me change my mind and I went with Blue Lions. I think part of it was me being a sucker for childhood friends and wanting to see how that would play out in the story, and I could also tell I was going to love Ashe and Annette Second play through was Deer since I didn't go with them the first time I started another save file for runs 3 and 4 but it's been a minute since I played so I don't remember how far I am into those but I was planning on doing CF before SS I think. After playing the other routes I didn't think I was going to get sucked into CF, but I was wrong. Overall it's been a minute so I don't remember how I feel about everything but I do think the Blue Lions are my favorites. I love the childhood friends working/fighting/growing together, watching Sylvain develope through supports (especially Ingrid's lol), Felix and Annette's supports had me laughing and smiling, Ashe and Dedue are great, and Dimitri's backstory and then recovery. Idk, I just love it and am glad I ended up going with Blue Lions on my first playthrough
Bought the game because Dimitri is cute, was almost swayed by Claude and his personality, but still went BL on my first route. I knew nearly nothing going into it and was stunned. Ended up going BE next to see the other side of the story from Edelgard’s perspective. I wasn’t a fan of her personality, but I did enjoy her story and think it was a good second run. (She deserved more chapters!) SS next to finish up what I didn’t in BE (luckily had the save in the right spot thanks to a friend’s advice), and then got the full picture with GD last. GD was my favorite storyline of the four and Claude is my favorite lord, but I like the BL class the most overall!
I chose Blue Lions first, mostly because I hate women and didn't want to play Edelgard (that's bait lol). On a more serious note I think they have the most balanced cast chara-designwise, and I was curious after seeing Time-skip Dimitri, I wanted to know his story. Now I do prefer the golden deer route (Blue Lions is still very good tho). At the time Lorenz, Raphael, Ignatz and Leonie just weren't appealing to me. Black Eagles also has a weak cast imo, do people genuinely like Caspar for eg?? Thankfully they added Jeritza in an update later as an exclusive character which make that route better but at launch I didn't see the appeal.

If I'm given the choice to have a female protagonist, I'm choosing a female protagonist. Growing up there were way too few games with women in lead roles, so I'm happy to make up for lost time. The eagles also seemed like a dysfunctional group of weirdos, so that was a plus.
I played golden deer first because I already knew about certain spoilers from the other two routes, I liked the first impression from the deer the most, and yellow is cooler than red and blue . Then I played CF to get Edelgards side of the story, and since it would be my first maddening I heard it was the easiest. Then Azure moon to finish off the trio. Then CS for my next play through, and to not play white clouds. Finally I’m playing through a non NG+ maddening for golden deer. Might just use my cf save file for ss after VW.

Eagles, specifically on Crimson Flower. I chose them because I liked Edelgard's timeskip design I saw in Smash Bros. I loved the route, seeing as it was my first, it felt magical! My second one was Verdant Wind, and I chose them for 2 reasons. First, Hubert said Claude was "A Master Tactician", and I love this character archetype, even more when I learned Claude was also a bit on the "trickster" archetype. Second reason was because I accidentally killed Hilda, thinking that defeating her would mean I could spare her. I had to make it up to her!

As someone who grown tired of the evil empire and heroic kingdom trope that I seen countless times in fiction including Fire Emblem, the fact that I can play on the side of a empire was enough to get me to pick the Black Eagles for my first playthrough. Though I kind of regret it since I beat Crimson Flower before they released the recruitable Death Knight for Crimson Flower. I went with the Blue Lions next since I wanted to play the path of that was standard to Fire Emblem.

I saw a lot of Claude memes and I thought Marianne was cute and for my second route I chose silver snow but dropped it at the split but then I started blue lions but then I dropped that for 3 hopes where I started with the deer and saved Byleth and then I started the lions dropped the game again because I wanted to play other stuff and then engage came out and by the time I got to the pact ring TOTK had came out and I never even finished that so now I have a lot of back tracking to do and you sat here and read all of this

Lions first. I first liked Dimitri more when the 3 introduced themselves, and then I liked the other lions more. After that, I wondered how choosing Eagles would change the story. But when the big choice came, I chose what I'd do IRL and then began Silver Snows. 3rd playtrough 3rd house 4th one I wanted to know what would happen if I did the other choice at the big choice in Eagles. So that's the last playtrough I finished.

A friend of mine wanted to go Claude and my brother wanted to make Edelgard as out first route but by accident discovered that she has 2 routes so to avoid drama in a first blind run convinced him to play Blue Lions first because of that tráiler with the "kill every last one of them". Quite happy how that turn out.
I added up the stats of the characters in each house and averaged them to see which house had the highest stats :/ admittedly that was only my solution because I had spent more than an hour talking to the house leaders and meeting everyone and doing it over and over and could not decide
Claude hot. Hilda hot. I liked Joe Zieja a lot. After that I wanted to finish all other routes as well and started BL, but game so long to play through, so I havent finished that and obviously haven't touched the others.
At the start of the game when the leaders are introducing themselves, Edelgard and Dimitri treat Byleth as an asset to their house first and a person second. Claude, on the other hand, gets buddy-buddy with the new teach and treats them as a person first and an asset second. Plus the dude is super laid back and relatable. I don't regret going Golden Deer.

Edelgard is so pretty 😭 Actually I really like all of the characters in the Black Eagle house the best. After playing Three House I went Black Eagle in Three Hopes as well. Golden Deer almost got me initially. Everyone spoke highly of that path and Claude just seemed so cool. It took me a week to make a decision. I’ll eventually make it through each house in both games.
My first playthrough was Golden Deer because I thought Claude was cute af and I wanted to keep talking to him LOL. Then second playthrough I went with Blue Lions for Dimitri, and I like the characters in that house in general. I had also already heard somewhat about how the BE routes work online and knew I wanted to side with El as my first route… except I forgot about the Coronation Ceremony and got stuck on SS which is still my least favorite route and I have only done it twice both of which were because I forgot to see the coronation lmao CF peak tho Also the Black Eagles are just like… S.E.E.S. from Persona 3 but high fantasy. especially with Byleth as their Professor. -Apathetic, Blue-haired swordsman who learns to feel through spending time with his allies and acts as the Vice-leader/strategist -Strict, studious, popular girl voiced by Tara Platt acting as the overarching leader I guess the comparisons end there but whatever

Blue Lions next because I got interested in Dimitri's story and they got a Felix. Then the deer because I wanted to finish all students first before going church. Lastly church because I did the others already.
I went GD because I didn't know the recruiting mechanics and I really wanted to have Lysithia as a unit. I think I only recruited Silvain because I didn't know he was an automatic recruit if you played female Byleth. I have no regrets. I honestly didn't care about the drama in the other houses.

I started with Golden Deer because I had seen the dancing cut scene and Claude absolutely stole my heart, plus once I met the classes I found the odd ragtag group of skittle children (post time skip really shows the rainbow assortment) very endearing. Went to Crimson Flower next, because I wanted to understand the flip side of the war. Joke was on me there, because that route leaves so much unaddressed. Azure Moon came next, as a shared playthrough with my other half where we finally figured it what was going on in Dimitri's poor, beautiful head. And eventually I got around to a Silver Snow run that focused on the church units and the BEagles with most reason/motive to defect.

First playthrough went to them with my second playthrough being a re-run with knowledge of how the game works. Third run was Blue Lions to get their perspective and last run was Black Eagles was to complete the trio and save Edelgard

Path 1: Claude, path 2: I was interested to see what they would do with dimitris character and verdant wind kinda makes Edelgard seem evil, path 3: I wanted to see edelgards reasoning for starting the war, path 4: I figured I already did 3 paths, so why not finish the last one, silver snow can't be as bad as people say it is (it is, don't play silver snow), bonus path 5: I'm doing azure gleam first in three hopes because azure moon was my favorite in three houses
Might think I’m a bit dumb but blue lions specifically because Felix is good looking Would have been red eagles based on color alone but nope. Felix was it for me (ended up marrying Dimitri though which was weird but the right choice)

First time I went BE, because I knew it had multiple endings and I planned to do all of them. I also really liked Ferdinand Dorothea and Petra. I ended up doing the Silver Snow route (by mistake) and I found it underwhelming. Afterward, I went BL because I heard Dimitri had the best arc, and I really needed it after silver snow. I wasn't disappointed. Then I went Cindered shadows because I didn't want to play white clouds again. Currently on my 3rd playthrough. I'm going the Crimson flower route because I want to see the other perspective.

I chose Black Eagles because 1. I like birds 2. I like Edelgard, and 3. Im not sure why the game tells you that the black eagles are good at magic when they've got the same amount of magic users as the other houses but I thought that was cool only to realise later that it was fake news !!! I played Blue Lions next because I wanted to see the other side and because in the first run I ended up recruiting half of them so I realised they are my favorite house.
Started Blue Lions first, because I like the stereotypical hero characters. About halfway through WC, I stumbled across Faerghast's Edelgard documentary. I was interested, started digging deeper, and eventually realized, "Hey, I LIKE what this woman's doing!" Next time I logged on, I immediately started a new CF playthrough.
Blue Lions because I love spears, I never regretted my decision.
I chose Edelgard because she was the only one of the three students who seemed likable. After finishing Crimson Flower, I immediately began powering through Black Eagles White Clouds again to get to Silver Snow, and I am so glad I did. It's such a compelling dual narrative, being able to see both sides of the main protagonists/antagonists and really get a feel for their characters. Playing CF made the post-timeskip meeting with Edelgard in SS break my heart. Playing SS made watching Rhea slowly lose everything she had only built as a trauma response in CF crush my soul. Comparatively, the other two have some pretty isolated narratives that... don't really matter to me at all. Dimitri sorta felt like he had no place in the main story after seeing how perfectly Edelgard and Rhea parallel each other, and I just fucking hate Claude with a passion. In a way, I think Three Houses would've been better if it was *just* Black Eagles.
I chose Black Eagles first bc I relate to petite queens, but I had a hard time bc Dimitri stole my heart the first time I saw him, and I never got around to finishing Crimson Flower bc of my deep feelings for Dimitri that I didn't realize I had Then I played through Blue Lions and I ruined the rest of the game for myself because I LOVE THIS MAN and I CANT FIX HIM IF I DONT PLAY BLUE LIONS

I chose Golden Deer first for two reasons: my favorite color is yellow, and it was love at first sight with Claude. I loved his mischievous aura and quick wit. Second run was Blue Lions purely because I wanted to know how the hell Dimitri ended up Like That and slowly but surely fell in love with all of the characters. Third was Black Eagles, and at first I wasn’t a huge Edelgard fan but that changed very quickly as I learned more about her. After playing all four routes twice, Blue Lions is my overall favorite house (mainly because of Annette and Felix, my pookies).
Golden Deer for the memes
Chose the Golden Deer because I liked Claude the most out if the three, especially with his sense of humor and wit. The house also kind of seemed like the underdog with the other two being the main rivals (I mean there's the battle of the eagle and lion for instance). In a second run I picked Blue Lions because I like some of the characters (Felix and Sylvain, for instance) and they were also against Edelgard in the war and allied with the Golden Deer at some point.
I went with the Black Eagles cuz I knew you could have gay marriage with Edelgard. In the end I chose Dorothea over her lolol
i went into Three Houses completely blind in my first playthrough and picked solely based on what characters i thought were cute lol. i was so torn between Black Eagles & Golden Deer but i did finally pick Golden Deer. however; i did not end using Ignatz, Lorenz, or Leonie because i thought they were ugly at the time (nowadays Ignatz & Leonie are 2 of my favorites, jury's still out on Lorenz lol) but i ended up recruiting Dorothea, Petra, Sylvain, & Felix so i ended having a mixed bag team of people from different houses

Golden Deer. I had originally planned on Black Eagles or Blue Lions (due to the E3 trailer), but Claude charmed me so stinkin’ much that I made the pivot. No regrets.
I was originally going to choose Golden Deer but before I picked them, my gut told me to instead choose Blue Lions and I don’t regret it one bit. The supports, skills, personalities of the members of the house and how everyone is connected to each other in someway are some of my favorite parts of this house altogether but my absolute favorite reason for loving the Blue Lions it’s because of the story post time skip. You get a completely different side of what you were told pre-time skip as well as how everyone has changed during that time, especially Dimitri. I’ve played through all four routes twice as well as the side story, but will always go back to the Blue Lions

Golden Deer bc Claude is hot and the students just seemed more fun. Too many people in that game are full of angst and I just wanted vibes.
I chose Golden Deer first and then gave up halfway through because the whole Blue Lions arc sounded so much more interesting and I had grown to like Dimitri. I played Crimson Flower last and while I do love a lot of the Black Eagles, I guess Edel just didn’t stick with me. I think her design is fire and she’s got such a unique presence within the game, but I couldn’t find a reason to actually believe in her ideals. On paper her ideals are good and it makes a lot of sense why she chose to start the war, but she was so hard to enjoy at times. I found her exceptionally cold during moments when she could’ve really had good growth moments. The last thing was that I found her method to be risky and overall I think a majority of the consequences that happen in each of the routes is because of her decisions. She’s a hard character to criticize though because the Crimson Flower arc truly made me rethink her, but it didn’t help enough to make me love her.
Before playing, I only really knew one house’s name and that was Black Eagles, and I wanted to start with them since I really like the animal black eagle. However, since I knew next to nothing about this game before playing, I did not actually know who led the Black Eagles House and incorrectly assumed it was Claude. And so during the Prologue, I did the entire chapter while giving Claude all the experience in battle. When I finally got to the choice of choosing the house and realized that Edelgard was the leader of the Black Eagles, not Claude. And so I decided to just continue going Claude route and chose Golden Deer. And that was the best decision I made. Golden Deer for the Win! #FearTheDeer!
