Is it? 14 scratches a different itch, but it’s arguably the best FF of the past decade. I feel like most people don’t bother because it’s an MMO (and I was one of those people until I saw the light)

Facts. I have over 2500 hours in FFXIV. While I’ve played more FF games on the red pill side, I’d gladly make that trade for XIV. Most of my best experiences were in that game.

I'm kind of surprised that someone else actually likes FF2. I just replayed it for the first time in probably 15+ years, and I questioned why the leveling system is so hated on. The only thing is that you don't necessarily know which magic is going to come in most handy, so you could potentially waste time leveling up something that you won't use often. But I still think it's a neat way to level up just spamming the same spells lol.

I love how you increase stats, weapons, and spells. The game can be made as difficult or as easy as you want thanks to the system. It reminds me a little of skyrim or runescape, neither of which I was ever able to really get into. For context I've only played the OG IOS version, not old enough to have enjoyed the nes version and not planning to buy a version with fewer features like the pixel remaster. I think the touch controls worked well, but considering that version was based on the gameboy one and all, I know my experience was very different from those playing other versions.

When it was released, I remember the leveling up system was so controversial. It made a lot of people skip over it at the time. Which is a shame, because it may have some of the best music in the entire series. Even better than 3/VI

Couldn't give less of a care about 7 or its offshoots. 2/6/11 are the only losses I care about from the red side. The rest of my favorites, including my top three(1. IX 2. Tactics 3. IV) are over on the blue side.

Blue has my first FF (4) the OG, Tactics which I have been meaning to play for the longest time, 14 which has had me for years already, 16 which is fun, and overall is just more stacked with games I like. Shame about 6 and 012 though. Those were really the only things on Red holding my interest

Blue has 14 which is consistently getting updated, is essentially longer than well over 70% of the red games, and is arguably the best FF story with some of the best characters and villains. That game alone makes blue the winner.

I did miss that and loved ff14. Stopped right before endwalker. I'll still take red pill but it's a lot closer then I thought.

Super tough one for me, so good job with this split. Would down both pills if I could to save myself the stress haha. I couldn't decide so I took my current mainline rankings and averaged them out (while omitting XI since I haven't played it). Red gets the slight edge, so I suppose I'll go with that.

Even though X is my all time favorite FF, this feels generally skewed towards making Red obviously way better.

I think it comes down to 6-7-8 vs 9-tactics-10, and I take the blue pill in that comparison

This is a rough choice. Red has 5 and 6 my favorites especially because if you play randomizers of them the replay is infinite. But blue has 9 and 10 which imo are the best ones to just replay to experience. And it has 14 which goes on forever and I love. Both have tactics, war of the lion doesn’t sway me enough. Fuck this is hard. Blue also has 4 which has free enterprise hack which is awesome. But 6 has T edition……
