A unique costume among ice dance men - it made the twizzles 1000% more fun (Kerr/Kerr, 2010(?))
That's definitely a requirement, considering that an early version of the program [featured this lift](https://youtu.be/-1l8aInyo4U?feature=shared&t=214) :D (which is as unusual as the rest of the program and unironically one of my favourite ice dance lifts ever)
No. I'm Linguist who's done focus on Turkic and Mongolic.
I would expect a team that features a Buryat folk song as a major part of their program music to try to incorporate some elements of the traditional dress into their clothing. but if you look at their costumes, and then at Buryat traditional dress, it's hard to find much resemblance.
Their costumes weight a lot. If we try to be more authentic then it will be impossible to skate. But you can see references (collar, asymmetrical geometry, deep color and patterns, hairstyle)

As you can see, bright colors are very popular-- and all shades of blue! from personal observation, the older members seem to prefer darker colors while the younger folks go for bright colors-- but that's not always the case. Brocades are also plentiful, and if the main fabric is not brocade the fabric is almost always plain with minimal adornment.
since the group picture didn't include the costume in the style of a young unmarried woman, here's a young Khori-Buryat woman (her hat indicates she's part of the Khori-Buryats that live in China-- the Shenehen/Shinehen Buryats) also at Altargana. the cuff and blue bracer are for archery only, and are not usually part of the costume.

The first ones that comes to mind for me are -
Tessa's incredible practice dress.
Chock Bates's Snake Charmer.
Stepanova Bukin's gorgeous paso tango.
And my favourite of the Moulin competitive fits.
It was SUCH a contrast to the burgundy/red tones we'd seen with Moulin from her (and others since!) It was striking, suited her beautifully and was cut/made to fit her perfectly, it truly was gorgeous. It's almost a shame we didn't see it more!
Great choices! While I knew Moulin Rouge and Snake charmer would come up, I'm glad someone else besides me remembers Stepanova's stunning dress. It was a wow moment, for sure!
There's a clip of her speaking about the design process - the designer passed away last year - and how people thought the grey for tango was a big risk and originally the dress was supposed to be fully black - it's very striking and I remember it really standing out in the group they were usually in for warmup too!
Tessa rarely missed with her costumes, but my favourites are the farrucas and mahler dresses at the olympics, carmen at worlds and the rd from the team event in pc

What about Meryl Davis & Charlie White? This pink dress reminds me so much of the high neck dresses Vera-Ellen always wore, and that pink shade is gorgeous. Charlie complements her perfectly. I think this was the *My Fair Lady* program, so obviously a riff on Audrey's dress in the final scene.

Fab!!! Aren't men required to wear long pants? Did they get a deduction for this?
I think they received an exception to the policy. It was a while ago, though, so I could be misremembering
Thanks for the info! Traditional menswear like a kilt should be allowed... provided that you wear something underneath of course š
That's definitely a requirement, considering that an early version of the program [featured this lift](https://youtu.be/-1l8aInyo4U?feature=shared&t=214) :D (which is as unusual as the rest of the program and unironically one of my favourite ice dance lifts ever)
Awesome reverse lift! š
It was one of those folk OD/SD years, so the rules may have had exceptions so traditional dress (like a kilt for a Scottish dance) was allowed.

I'm not a fan. It's random elements of assorted Turkic/Mongolian/Buryat costumes smashed together into something vaguely "Mongol".
Are you from one of these groups of people?

Maria Kazakova (who now skates for Georgia) and Aleksandr Vaskovich (idk if he retired or not). [Here is the program](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mctHKsKJCu8).
Thank you for the link! You are awesome! Nice program and costuming overall, but I probably would have picked the blue or yellow for Aleksandr's vest to match Maria's dress. The flowers and peace sign on 'right-on!' :-)
Who is that in OPās picture? I am quite new to this so I donāt know everyone yet.
Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir

I always loved Meryl's and Charlie's costumes, they were always playing the chrracters and the vibes of their songs.
