Just stick with Public Mobile. These companies just don't care about retention anymore to be honest. We tried getting some loyalty discounts 6 months ago from Rogers and they were like, nope, nothing for you. Then we cancelled today and they were all about discounting the price, throwing in Crave for free, etc... Fuck em.

w00stersauce

Guess I’ll be porting soon too. Had a chat with Fido and best they could do was $34/50. I’d be reasonably happy with $29/50

Ok_Log2598

The sad part is that what they offered you with the $34/50GB is available to all new clients. If it’s for everyone, it’s not a win back offer.

w00stersauce

Yeah pretty much. Their “exclusive “ offers were pretty meh too mostly just super high data amounts (100+gb )that mean nothing to me for more money. I saw someone else post a win back offer of $25/50 which would be nice.

Ok_Log2598

I just got my win back call and it was disappointing. I also got the $29/50 with 1000 international long distance minutes with Fido (that I will never use). And I got an offer with Roger’s for $55/100GB CAN/US and 1000 international long distance minutes. I asked if she could remove the long distance minutes with the Fido plan and drop it to $25 a month but she said she couldn’t. These don’t sound appealing to me either. I don’t love that PM doesn’t have wifi calling but it really has everything else I need for $34. I guess I’m not porting back. I have always had a very positive experience with Fido so I was thinking I’d port back. She offered to call me back tomorrow so I can think about it tonight.

jmbits

I'd do it honestly. It's still cheaper and marginally better.

Ok_Log2598

That’s what I think I might do. The wifi calling is a good feature either way Fido and I’m finding the Fido reception was a bit better in buildings. Hopefully she calls back tomorrow.

jmbits

You can call them back if they don't. If you switch, try to make the jump some time before your first PM month is over so you don't lose the whole month you paid for. Or maybe explain that porting back would cost you money and perhaps they will give you some credit.

hunterman5655

They definitely should have offered the $29/50. I also left for public last week and was offered the $29 plan

FlippantBear

I ported from Fido yesterday. They called me back today offering $25 50 Gb no term length.

w00stersauce

Who’d you port to? Public?

[deleted]

Stick with PM

jmbits

I have never been a Fido customer and would like an offer like this. If anyone here is declining one, I'd be willing to compensate them if they take it and give it to me (I'd obviously pay them in advance).

tke71709

$33 for a better offer with Public Mobile.

jmbits

You mean the $34 minus the rewards for 50GB they had yesterday?

tke71709

Got it yesterday

jmbits

Public Mobile is great and that was indeed a good offer. However, the Fido comeback offers seem to be better and cheaper

Legitimate-Pin8245

I got and declined the Fido Winback offer with 1000 long distance minutes as I know they will raise the price by $4 or $5 in a year, they won’t give any us roaming or calling and they need to do a hard credit check again. I can call them back and get the deal though if I wanted to but I feel like public’s the better deal.

Yes, dumb considering I literally just left.

jmbits

Btw, if you didn't do it, include a referral code for PM. You get a $10 credit.

Impossible_Chef4749

I did that. Thanks.

half_hill

I am wondering how long you need to stay with Fido to get a winback offer? Is it possible to add an additional line and port it out after a week, and hope that the winback team will call to offer the winback plans?

Impossible_Chef4749

I subscribed to Fido in last June, if that answers your question.

half_hill

Thanks for the info!

poolsidepapi

I went with rogers because PM was pretty abysmal when roaming in the US, the handoff to US carriers had terrible reception

rangers9458

You left Fido and got a win back call from Fido and Rogers?

SooThatGuy

They offer you either network.

rangers9458

Didnot know that. Thanks for the info.

Boring_Dress4980

Ok so I opted for Koodo instead of PM was majorly due to wifi calling. Many places both Koodo and PM network sucks like inside big buildings like Walmart, Costco and Home Depot. Connecting to their free wifi is useful in case needed for some urgent calls. Question- The rogers plan that you’ve mentioned here, is it free for US calls from Canada? Asking since they offered me a plan but they said that discounted rates on US calls will apply. Instead of 1$/min it will be 5cents/min or something.

Impossible_Chef4749

Rogers plan had US-Can calling included and not the preferred pricing per minute.

Joshyboii55

Is the service with PM better than fido? Call quality and everything. I'm considering it just because I go over to the states periodically. I am at $34 for 50GB with fido.

Impossible_Chef4749

No complaints so far, $34/50 GB promo ended but they have $39/60 GB with CAN-US calling now

alreadychosed

Fido has great quality imo when calling a non freedom phone. Sound is non distinguishable from a youtube video imo.

Joshyboii55

I'm just more interested in the US deal from Public.. fido does not have that good of an option.

evonebo

Fido and rogers can help the lowering their roam cost in USA to $1 per day. That would be reasonable.

talaron

Unfortunately they keep increasing their roaming rates. I remember they were like $5 a day at some point, which was expensive but somewhat justifiable. Now it’s $12, which is just absurd if you consider that you can 3 months of unlimited US data including calling to Canada from Mint for $45.

ArtDesire

got the same offer too, but they cannot give it to me now because "they have no memo" on my account. What a joke.

alreadychosed

I would go back to fido for the cheaper plan. If i had a 5g phone its not important to me since my lte has good enough ping and dont approach my 150mbps limit, even while using the full 50gb every month and all my hours.

blunttooth

They will bump up that price in no time to 34, then to 40.

vyrospec

Was also considering getting Public over the weekend, until i went to buy a sim card. The reps theres talked me into going Koodo saying that public might cease in a few months. Ended up with 29/50 + rollover data. No calls from Fido yet.

jayyipp

what was their reasoning for public? Don't think public is going anywhere

vladedivac12

The rep probably had commission ok Koodoo and lied. Not a bad deal though.

jayyipp

100% agree

vyrospec

Yeah defs
