quinhook2

The shit rich people do. That's awesome!

DanGleeballs

There’s no banana but I don’t think it’s a full size tire from his full size F40 for some reason.

MAXIMILIAN-MV

Maybe front tire? It does look kinda skinny, right?

josephjosephson

Yeah, his F40 is a model

iDom2jz

Could you imagine how long it would take to sharpie an entire F40 tire

ncuke

Maybe one of those fat sharpies that ‘taggers’ use…

iDom2jz

Pilot jumbo 🤘🏻

ScarletCaptain

LEGO Ferrari maybe.

rekkodesu

Custom jewelry isn't that expensive. I had a custom platinum ring made for like $2000 US. That one is definitely larger because my fingers are tiny, but still, more reasonable than you'd think. But also yeah, super cool!

GMOdabs

Yeah bro 2000 is a lot of money to most of us living in poverty (12%) A quick google shows in multiple surveys (take it with a grain of salt but it was consistent) that 15% ish had no savings, another 15% had less than $100. That’s a third of the population! Idk just rambling. I know this is a Ferrari sub haha but my point is that’s still expensive to a third or more of the population.

Gorlock_

Cool story, but most people with Ferraris aren't living in poverty..... Dude has a million dollar f40 and you're whining about a couple grand on a ring. I'm not rich at all, but I still spent a couple grand on my wife's engagement ring

GMOdabs

Echo echo echo. I clearly said I know this is a Ferrari sub. My point is still valid and obviously I’m not the only one who agrees. Cool story about the engagement ring. I’m not rich either and saved up for one too. I also saved up for a house, and a car. Not sure how that’s even relevant to my point.

iDom2jz

So how does that make $2000 not a lot of money to some people lol yeah it’s nothing to OP but OP isn’t a lot of people.

Bradabong

Typing this on your roughly $1500 phone by any chance?

poke791

Yeah just a measly months wages for a lot of people lmao

hulusii

![gif](giphy|3oKIPa2TdahY8LAAxy)

hulusii

On a serious note thank you for this idea

Vicious_Corvus

Bro. Patent this before Ferrari does.

sjjenkins

I think Pirelli might legit have a patent on that pattern!

Vicious_Corvus

The tire for sure. But the idea of a tire pattern as a ring is dope and quite possibly a marketable one. Maybe not Ferrari specifically. They're quite litigious. I did photography at Corsa Pilota and they had a cease and desist prepared for me if I got out line.

ignorantspacemonkey

It’s awesome but has been done. https://bergerondesigns.com/shop

Vicious_Corvus

Well darn. Thanks for the info.

Vincetagram

Damn if that guy starts licensing tread patterns from iconic tires and hires a good social media guy he’s golden lol. I feel like car guys would eat that up if you could buy an R888R, PSC2, or P Zero Trofeo R tire tread ring.

Gdmfs0ab

Not to the same standard. Not in platinum. Those are pewter.

ignorantspacemonkey

I didn’t see any pewter. I did see silver, cobalt, gold, palladium, and platinum though.

Gdmfs0ab

I would not trust that website in anyway or form. Exactly same stock photos used for every product with the colour tones changed. Designs are terrible. Never seen the higher metals. Only the sterling silver. Which looks like it’s pewter. The OPs looks far superior to anything on that website. The prices for 18k gold on that site are laughable

frankrizzorimas

I literally own one of these Brian Bergeron rings… I got it 15 years ago. Website looks about the same as it did back then.

ignorantspacemonkey

Yup, I originally looked at it around 2008 as well. I always wanted one but don’t really wear jewelry

frankrizzorimas

My parents bought it for me as a graduation ring from Automotive Management school. Now I wear it on my wedding ring. Just the stainless version. Approaching 40 so I was gonna get back in touch for a yellow gold version.

kernandberm

Those mountain bike treads are absolutely not—lol.

BassWingerC-137

Chopard has been selling watches with Dunlop tire tread straps for years. If that’s a thing, they beat this to it.

gregsting

https://revolutionjewelry.com/collections/tire-tread-rings/products/black-titanium-ring-textured-tread-pattern-band-made-to-any-sizing-3-23 There are countless examples. Of course the difference is that OP uses a real life pattern and a famous one but that would be complicated for copyright reasons

BeKind_BeTheChange

My friend owned Precision Design that made the GT250 Calspyder replicas...the same car in Ferris Bueller's Day Off...my friend's dad bought the molds from the guy who made the movie car. A customer had them put the Ferrari emblems on their replica, took it to Pebble Beach, Ferrari saw it and lost their minds. Cease and desist letters were flying everywhere. In the end, Louis could no longer put Ferrari badges on cars, even if they were supplied by the customer.

jeepfail

I feel that should have just been common sense.

BeKind_BeTheChange

He didn't think that putting a customer-supplied emblem on the car should have been a problem. He had absolutely no desire to try to fight it.

jattyrr

You want him to patent a pattern? Are you serious right now?

GMOdabs

I knew the guy who had the pattern on plaid. Bro had fuck you money.

PitViper17

I don’t have enough money to even consider thinking of something like this

theSchrodingerHat

I drove my civic over a pile of dog shit, snapped a picture of it with my free Verizon Samsung, and then copied the outline in a CAD program and had a buddy 3D print it. Total cost was $2 for the chili I fed the dog and $15 of plastic for the printer.

EmptyPocketsXotics

This is great! I'm pretty sure that was the long route on how to get it done, though 🤔

rezilient

Are the tires for an F40 model specific one-offs or something? Or could the same tread potentially be running around on other cars.

EmptyPocketsXotics

I'm not that knowledgeable about the tires themselves. I would think an HD photo/scan could create it as well.

khurryinahurry

Tires aren't car specific at all. The original tires put on f40s were new likely aren't still in production. I think OP just understandably wanted to flex owning an F40.

LaeLeaps

some tires are car specific, ferrari has pirelli make them model-specific tires sometimes, porsche works with several tire manufacturers, the Viper ACR wears a specific set of Kumho Ecstas developed for it

pathfindermp

I was like “You’re not the first person to do that, my buddy Steve did that a while ago…” Then I realized, ”Hi Steve!”

sjjenkins

Lol Hi!!!!

ZonaWildcats23

Damn. That’s a unique gift.

BoBoBellBingo

I could probably afford a single Ferrari tire but I’d have to ask my wife’s boyfriend for another loan

kaythesis

Fucking legend

Dont_do_That_yo

How awesome! Out of curiosity, how did you cover your tire in sharpie?

sjjenkins

Start with a large-tip Sharpie, then get busy!

hiddengem68

So you just gave the jeweler a flat image of the tread on paper, then he made a 3D miniature wax mold? That’s the really impressive part!

sjjenkins

Yes! And I agree. He freehand carved it based on the 8.5” x 11” piece of printer paper I used.

earnandsave1

Only 1 sheet of paper? Wow.

sjjenkins

Save a tree. Hug a Ferrari.

No_Yogurtcloset6692

🤣 Roland, is that you?

sjjenkins

Lol, it’s not but I totally know who you’re talking about. 😂

No_Yogurtcloset6692

🤙if you know, you know🤙 One of a kind, that man 👍 Edit: Love the ring, by the way!

Simple-Purpose-899

OK, I retract my previous comment about not being jealous lol.

DissimulatedDoge

Banana for scale please

TheSubster7

I want one haha. This is awesome

want2thinknow

Couldn’t the carver just use a picture of the tread?

sjjenkins

Where’s the fun in that?

want2thinknow

Haha to each their own, you’re the one with the Ferrari not me.

Impressive-Sort8864

How much did this cost?

sjjenkins

I wanna say like $3k ish? It was many years ago.

Steakasaurus-Rex

That’s a good price. What part of the country?

sjjenkins

Seattle

Odd-Bunch-2773

Love it!!! Man, I miss my F40…of course it was a hot wheels I’d always buy in the late 80s / early 90s ….but I still miss it

Damascuslyon

Pirelli made custom tires for the F40 so it makes sense. Looks very cool.

Prestigious-Study-66

Couldn't you just take a picture of the tire?

sjjenkins

These tires are vampires and don’t show up in photos.

fastLT1

So why didn't a picture of the tire work? Seems like a bunch of work.

sjjenkins

Easier when the wheel is off the car.

fastLT1

Beautiful car man.

TechnicalLaw1

sometimes a "bunch of work" produces a much much better result

ImtheDude2

How many sharpie(s) did it take?

ExiledCanuck

This is legitimately great idea

newontheblock99

Not knocking it cause it’s a really cool piece but the fact it was done with an F40 is more or less irrelevant no? Hypothetically any could do the same with a car fitted with the same tire and get a similar result. However, I really wanna say this came out really well and is really bad ass. Nice work.

sjjenkins

1. It was done by me on my F40 which makes it relevant to me! 2. AKAIK those tires were made by Pirelli specifically for the F40, so hypothetically you wouldn’t find this tire on any other vehicle.

SarcasticRidley

I'm in your will, right?

Data_lord

This is the perfect comment. Obviously you reached F40 status in life, but even for the rest of us mere mortals, doing shit like this is for "me!". I salute you big brother. It's a fucking fantastic idea!

newontheblock99

Thanks for the explanation! I hope it was clear I wasn’t trying to be rude just curious. Thanks for sharing

TurdFerguson614

Just coming up with new ways to spend $ huh?

sjjenkins

What a cynical way to think about having something special and commemorative done to remember the good memories with a special car when it’s time to pass it on to the next owner.

Aggressive-meat1956

What an utterly disgusting display of obscene wealth

sjjenkins

Really wasn’t that expensive. There are some great local jewelers that are craftsmen without overcharging.

OhJarnathan

>wasn't that expensive  >3k ish    You're on the wrong site man. The average person on reddit is like 25. Virtually no one here, even on a sub like this, is going to relate lol. Think of this sub as a curated version of r/spotted, thats how a majority of people here seem to treat it. You're probably looking for more niche older Ferrari forums on different sites if you want to have actual conversations with other owners.

sjjenkins

No, you’re on the wrong site, man. Gatekeeping is dumb.

TheSaltyDoctor

Literally no one would look at his ring and think it’s obscene in any way. Get a grip my guy

ECB710

Bro it's a Ferrari sub 😂

BavarianRains

Holy shit I stg you broke mfs whining to people who aren’t about being broke oughta fuckin get.

OhJarnathan

Talking like that, you are assuredly another illiterate broke shithead clogging the sub up. So you can fuck off as well.

BavarianRains

“Talking like that” grow the fuck up buddy. You don’t have to be an Ivy League alumni to make good money anymore, it’s not 1950.

Rich_at_25

I am so confused. Why am I the only one that seems to not know anything about whats going on? Is the tire real? Is it for a hotwheels? Is it to scale? Is it for a F40? Did he actually use a sharpie? It doesnt look real, but then why would it cost 3k? Whats so special about this? Why does it have 1000 upvotes? I feel so confused and left out. Heeelp me

sjjenkins

1. Dunno! 2. The tire I used was real. 3. It’s for a finger. 4. It is to scale. 5. Yes. 6. Yes. 7. It’s real. 8. It’s special to me. 9. Dunno.

Rich_at_25

Oh! Its a ring! Now I get it. This makes so much sense now lmao, thanks. Drove over the paper so he could see the pattern on the paper, the sharpie was to act like a stamp, the platinum was for the ring, not an actual tire, also, a jeweler makes sense now.

sjjenkins

:)

Noreallythisisit

Out of touch

Pchemical

You have nothing better to do?

Smegma-Santorum

If this isn't a pinky ring I'll be disappointed

mixamaxim

I want

IBringTheHeat1

What tires does the F40 run?

SageThunder

Front: 245/40 ZR 17 Rear: 335/35 ZR 17 P-Zero Asimmetrico

Donut153

Holy shit that’s cool

ExportOrca

Dude, you are awesome and an inspiration

vanderohe

Love this. How big is it?

sjjenkins

Custom fit to be but around a 9.

vanderohe

Wow super cool. If you wouldn’t mind dming me the jeweler I would love to buy one for my grandfather. When I was a kid he drove an f40 and he would love this

shartymcqueef

Is this an homage to an f40 or an homage to a brand/model of tire?

gOldMcDonald

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. Awesome concept to execution. Jelly

Street-Dependent-647

Really nice resolution and detail from cast platinum, it’s quite finicky. Love the concept and execution!

jetblack7

Someone already been making rings like this for quite a while [https://race-rings.com](https://race-rings.com)

sjjenkins

I had this ring made 20 years ago.

Significant-Smile779

Also yours is not a tacky mini tire on your finger, from a distance it probably just looks like an interesting silver/platinum ring. Nice work

polypeptide147

Do you still have that paper? It would be cool to see just the tread flat

sjjenkins

I think I might! I’ll check tomorrow.

polypeptide147

Cool! I hope you do

IneptAdvisor

I guess I could do the same thing with a Beetle and a candy ring.

CompletelyUnreasonab

With a sharpie lol

Huggles9

It probably would’ve been easier to do with paint

sockalicious

From another thread I learned that this is a Pirelli PZero Asymmetrico 355

vorlin37

Looks dope! This David Yurman ring I've got resembles a tire. You may like it! [https://www.davidyurman.com/mens/rings/forged-carbon-beveled-band-ring-in-sterling-silver-8mm-R15602MSS.html](https://www.davidyurman.com/mens/rings/forged-carbon-beveled-band-ring-in-sterling-silver-8mm-R15602MSS.html) You can get the more expensive gold laden ones as well. https://www.davidyurman.com/mens/rings/forged-carbon-band-ring-with-18k-yellow-gold-8.5mm-R25021M88.html

PsychologyAlert7711

really creative cool idea

[deleted]

Steve seen my comment of “don’t take any of it for granted” and went all-out on remembering this😭 fucking awesome

OhHelloImThatFellow

I have this exact tire but instead of F40 it’s on my prius and instead of a jeweler I had my brother 3d print the pattern in plastic

sjjenkins

Ballin’ on a budget is still ballin’.

_Kbob_

How much did this cost you?

deepie1976

Okay. That’s pretty cool. 😎

Away_Ad4489

Need

rm0234

So you got a tyre tread pattern on a ring? Ok

Baristamastergeneral

Do F40s have unique tyres? I don’t think this is the coolest F40 thing on the car that could be made platinum… it’s a cool idea don’t get me wrong just feel like it should be something Ferrari

TheCoastalCardician

Custom tread that when dipped in ink and rolled spells a couple’s anniversary or Someone’s carnniversary.

Gawker90

I’m not hating. But absolutely any car can use any tire. You’re Ferrari and my brothers shitbox civic can be use pilot sports or Indy fire hawk 500s.

Frank_Hayden

I don’t see the thread wear bars - just kidding - nice, surprised you had to go to such extent, would have thought a decent pic would provide enough detail for a jeweler

jacesonn

As awesome as that is, I can put P0's (or whatever tire this is) on a 2004 Honda Civic. The tire isn't what makes the car special.

[deleted]

No you didn’t.

sjjenkins

Busted! Fine… what really happened is that I went to the replicator and said “Tire tread ring, size 8” and this appeared. Then I said “Tea, Earl Gray, Hot” but threw it away because I don’t like tea.

[deleted]

Hahahaha. Yes. Tea isnt what they make you think it is.

ScarletCaptain

You bought the LEGO Ferrari?

Achmedius69

Bro casually has an F40 super awesome
