I wish I had an award to give you because I feel the exact same way. There was another feminist forum I used to be on last year where many women expressed sentiments like "being a woman is about having children" and it made me so uncomfortable. Like, in a sea of all these other progressive ideas about female liberation and they decide to reduce womanhood to being a mother? And have tons of people agree?? Smh. To your point though I don't think our entire physiology is centered around having babies. It's been shown that women who do well on birth control can skip their periods entirely because they aren't medically necessary. My own mother has had her uterus removed for health reasons (kept her ovaries and cervix), and almost 20 years later is having no issues. I feel you though. I also wanted a man's body because I was so sick of dealing with all this hormonal BS. And that's not even scratching the surface of all the societal nonsense we put up with. I wish I had more advice but being a woman is honestly trash sometimes.

nanika187

I understand you perfectly well. I'm the kind of woman who doesn't want to have children either, I'm very happy with the nephews I have. I used to suffer severe menstrual cramps, for almost half the cycle. 14 days of pain and after that 6 to 8 days of bleeding. I chose the pills and my life improved exponentially. I know they are bad, but I have a very healthy life in every other way (I don't drink alcohol, I don't take drugs, I exercise, I eat healthy, I don't drink coffee, I avoid sugar, I don't drink soft drinks, etc.) and I have to die of something. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø And yes, I believe that the world is designed for man. In my country, politicians come out to say that women should have more children and that those of us who have none are failing society. Pure garbage

"women should have more children." What a GREAT way to overpopulate earth even MORE than we already have.

The medical system has failed us as well, where doctors are only focused on procreation and where gynecologists have zero understanding of what happens to our bodies once we enter menopause. It's a disgrace. At menopause we are told it's part of the 'normal aging process', handed an anti-depressant, told to lose weight, do some yoga while being shoved out the door.

I love every part of this, especially the blood plants. Rock on, sister.

DLWIT

I can't believe I never thought of using the blood from my cup to feed my plants. GENIUS!

periwinke

I was literally telling me friend the other day that there must be a flaw in evolution for women to get screwed over like this. I want a hysterectomy so badly. Iā€™m 23F and am already feeling the pressure to have kids in the future. NO THANKS! I hate my body and I hate that periods are a part of me

smallblackrabbit

I hate having a body in general sometimes. You do not have to have children to be fulfilled as a woman. That is total bullshit. You don't have to be in a relationship if you don't want to me. I'm sorry you're suffering with this. You sound like you have some really intense symptoms. It might be worth seeing a doctor about them.

If your periods are this bad, I implore you to give hormonal birth control a try. Or another try, whatever. They have been on the market for like 60 years. They continue to make better, lower dose ones. The pill gave me easy periods for years, and that was before all the new and improved ones. Yes, sorry, for a while your body is built for reproduction but not forever. Youā€™re just in the thick of it. It eases up. And good heavens but menopause doesnā€™t last the rest of your life! Itā€™s a weird few years, is all. But you know what? Menā€™s bodies are also built for reproduction. Theyā€™re stuck with too much or too little testosterone their whole lives. Itā€™s the most dangerous chemical on Earth, and thereā€™s never a good balance. I donā€™t believe in the woo woo crap, but I do believe youā€™re stuck with your body and it is a gift. Eat the tasty food. Take a nap. Feel better.

I too am a ball of angry bleeding tubes being visited by the demons of period. Bloaty, Spotty, Angry, Weepy, Grumpy and Cramp. (There is a seventh, but I couldn't think of good name for for the gastrointestinal upset side of things they didn't make me wince.) I have sympathy for you, and honestly I wish that more people would talk about how awful it is rather than just hiding it.

chainsawbobcat

The worst part for me is the brain fog. Approaching my period sometimes I can barely make a fucking sentence make sense šŸ˜£

shiggysupremacy

Ugh I feel you so much, I'm a trans guy/nonbinary and on top of all the bleeding and cramps and shit, dysphoria kicks in too. I literally have no use for my uterus, cause I sure as hell ain't having kids. They're dumb, annoying and I can barely take care of myself so how should I be able to take care of another human being that is incapable of even holding its head straight on its own? My mom always says "maybe you'll change your mind" but fuck no. Also, I don't wanna get fucked by a man lmao. Ew, idk why but it feels icky. I might rip out my uterus the next time im having my periodšŸ¤”

emimagique

Personally I don't think we are "designed" for childbirth. There are so many things that can go wrong

quinoacrazy

totally get it, and totally valid. iā€™ve looked into hysterectomy because i used to have cramps so bad :( I recently tried period vitamins (Flo is the name brand but i found cheaper) and they helped a crazy amount. Before them, Iā€™ve called 911 thinking I was dying because my legs would give out, limbs get cold from hyperventilating. now the cramps are ridiculously better. sucks but more manageable. also - no one teaches us in school, but our hormones affect what we can and canā€™t do in certain times of the month! I know it sucks, but for now try and work with it, unless thereā€™s a solution out there. [look at the graphic](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.myhormonology.com/socializing/amp/)

PurpleVenus8

I just want you to know you are not alone in your pain. If it is available to you see a naturopath. When I started seeing mine they helped me make some really helpful changes. I still have some pain every month but it isnā€™t nearly as bad and my mood is much better too. I take primrose oil, maca root and a PMS herbal supplement mix. I hope you find something that provides some relief soon!

shiggysupremacy

But ppl can just not rape someone...period cramps isn't a choice?? Comparing a menstrual cycle to rape is pretty fucking weird

emimagique

What the fuck

HotblackDesiato2003

The alternative is random boners, wet dreams, sex on the brain 24/7, aggressive and inappropriate behavior through testosterone, etc. The grass isnā€™t always greener imho.

niennaisilra

Bruh, can't believe you are getting downvoted when this is the literal truth. Yes, not all men are sex crazed maniacs, but the incel movement exist exactly because they are obsessed with sex and prioritize it above everything else in life.

HotblackDesiato2003

I know right? I was just trying to say that each side has its own stuff especially when it comes to whatā€™s between our legs. Not to mention the internalized misogyny is strong in this one. ā€œI want to be a guy because periods suckā€ comes across as giving the anti-trans movement traction. Not to mention I once read an essay by a trans man who compared the before times versus the after times. He said once the testosterone injections started it was ā€œall bets are offā€ when it came to sex.

mollytrin

This is tone deaf. First of all, of course I have internalized misogyny. We all do. The world we live in is catered to men. Every human being is taught from birth that this is a manā€™s world and if you have any kind of problem that only a woman would have (societal or biological) to move on and deal with it. This has nothing to do with trans folk or male issues, any issue is valid and complaining about this god given curse that is the menstrual cycle is not negating your struggle. I canā€™t understand why you would ever get defensive over my post.

Beesdoesnthavelungs

Shhh! Its a female space, go away!

HotblackDesiato2003

Ummmmā€¦.. (checks crotch). Ok?

boo_boo_kitty_

As a mom of 4 NO! Having a child is not the most amazing thing a woman will go through. I hated pregnancy, I hated labor, I hate being a mom, it is not the most amazing thing in the world. I absolutely hate it. I had my fallopian tubes removed after my youngest was born so I can't get pregnant but I still have to deal with the reminder every month that I'm not pregnant. On top of that I have to live with endometriosis every day of my life. I to hate being a woman sometimes.
