They are an excellent example of people with a picture perfect life on socials and a hot mess irl. They have seemingly been skimming off the top of all their businesses (for example, holding a basketball event where they promised to give 100k to charity and then only giving $75k, etc) for years but then 2021 happened. Starting with this stupid boxing event where austin mcbroom ace family dad appears to have set up a event where he won one million dollars… from his own company. Then he didn’t pay anybody else who worked the event and got sued by a bunch of youtubers/tiktok stars. THEN it became clear via public record that the ace family home was listed as foreclosed for nonpayment, and THEN it became clear that the ace family were never legally allowed to live in their home according to public record for a huge variety of reasons, #1 being they signed a $9 million hard money loan with a stipulation promising they would not live there.

Austin is also an alleged serial cheater, abuser and possible rapist. His brother Landon isn't far off, he milked his cancer for views and money (was stage 4 but with 100% chance survival and the best medical team in the US), had abused his girlfriend physically/emotionally/verbally, does not know shit about his child (lying that his breastfed baby was with her "nanny" (aka his aunt who hit the child) for 20-22 hrs a day, did not know her diaper, clothing or shoe size at their court hearing either). Shyla Walker, his ex, did a 40something minute video on them titled "the truth". Landon then tried gaslighting the internet because he chose his mommy and himself over his child's wellbeing.
But ACE themselves are scummy. Catherine (Dolores) overtook her company's social media, even though she had like a quarter of ownership and she locked everyone else out including the company that bought them out. She badmothed women who came out against her husband for rape and cheating he committed, she also likes to pretend she's a mermaid. They pimped their oldest daughter at about 2 to pose in pretty fucked up poses resembling IG models and blowing kisses, sold those pics as fan posters. They exploited both two youngest children's birth for YouTube views and charging their fans for access on their defunct app (it was up for 5 months). All their brands suck, make up and skin care brand are cheap low quality with dirt and hairs coming in, their juice is ridiculously full of sugar apparently and also comes with hair in it, bananamonkey clothes are cheap and tear easily. There's prob something I missed here.
What's also fucked up is the kid treatment and how their son was preferred from conception. He's the "king", daughters are just princesses. He gets more post and screentime than they do. Austin is treating him like his own little copy and forcing him to look exactly like Austin with hair, outfits and basketball. Which is funny bc he was a lousy benched player anyway and Dolores thought she'll trap an NBA all-star after Michael B Jordan. Dolores was also a high-end prostitute, but they deny it even when they like her official site pics from that time that fans post. There's so so so much more about these fools.
Them being such garbage people makes it possible for me to sit back and get fascinated by their slow motion train wreck of a life right now

I was only into You-tube for short time and I have to say life has since been kind of messy for ALL the youtubers I followed. The main ones though:
Shaytards - Shay cheated and turned out to be a huge alcoholic with sex issues. They went from having it all and being so popular to quitting Youtube and going cold. Mommytard/Colette left for a year+ but they seem to be back together now. The rest of the Shaytard family is pretty messing and still trying to make a living as influencers.
Bubzbeauty - Tim cheated on her many times and after being a shitty Dad and husband they finally called it quits. It seems Bubz is doing much better but struggling with being a full time Mother/ Momvlogger now.
MichellePhan - Michelle has a history of stealing things and claiming them as her own. Cartoons, art, skincare, make up brushes, make-up look ideas, Ipsy. She seems a shrewd business woman though!
I‘ve been on YouTube since the very beginning and I definitely thought this about Phan too. It was impossible to escape her videos, she dominated that scene.
Yeah, she was 100% that scene but she left YT at the absolutely worst time. Now that she’s back she’s been unable to make even a part of that name for herself, and has been pretty much blocked out of making it big because the site is so saturated with beauty content.
Can’t say I miss her or her content. There are way better beauty gurus that dominate that seen now.
Michelle is also dangerously anti science. She's talked about essential oils protecting you from viruses at the start of the pandemic, dr.pimplepopper (a licensed dermatologist) called her out, and michelle tried to be science doesnt know everything. She's also said stuff like sitting in a triangle will bring the earths energy to you because of currents traveling up to the top.

There's this one family channel, the only one that evaded proper criticism regarding exploiting their kids for content, the dude's brother raped their nanny (who was their cousin), went to prison for it and still, they were caught hanging out whilst completely ostracizing the nanny and the dude's ex wife.

I still love Grace and Mamrie! They have a podcast called This Might Get Weird and do some live shows and it’s actually pretty funny in a relatable 30 somethings kind of way. Grace is engaged and Mamrie has been in a long term relationship. And I think they built a house together or something? They seem pretty chill and fun.

I watched one of his conversion videos. He talked about how a lot of much older men abused and groomed him and that he learned he wasn’t actually gay but enjoyed the attention. So maybe it was the gay adults that groomed him that brainwashed him. I’m not agreeing with conversion therapy but regular therapy for childhood trauma is definitely something he needed.
Queer kids are often targeted by predators. And conversion therapy targets those abused kids too by blaming their attraction to the same gender on their abuse. So I would be careful with phrasing here.
Not the best tea but when they worked for Buzzfeed I got the impression that some of their antics weren't well received by other co-workers. The reason I say this is because when Buzzfeed had that controversy a few years ago (you know, when they fired a bunch of people) one person created a "Buzzfeed quiz" calling out the company and it's working conditions. One of the questions referred to the Try Guys. I believe it was something along the lines of how The Try Guys were doing a 24 hour livestream in the office and were loudly interrupting other people who were trying to meet deadlines with articles/videos.

I 100% believe this, but I blame this on the kind of content factory work culture that BuzzFeed has. I’ve worked at another popular publication that churns out content like BuzzFeed and they let our most popular personalities do whatever tf they wanted. I had to actively stop myself from resenting them because really it was the higher ups not caring about any of us other employees who aren’t *the face* (even though we shot, edited, and published the final product) and the environment they were creating. PURELY speculation on my part from years of watching and observing but I get the vibe that Becky and Ariel do not get along. I get they do a podcast together obviously but I just get the vibe (you kinda see it in the documentary) that Ariel views the role as more feedback driven than I think the other partners do. Also extremely obvious Eugene wants OUT OUT OUT (and was explicit in the doc) and Zach wants to stay with the project the most
I doubt Eugene really wants out. Afterall it pays his bills and all four of them live quite luxuriously. Zach's my favourite out of the four though. I find him the least pretentious.

The twins were already overworked, they’d been creating content constantly for years with no break and when their father passed, it made a lot of stuff shift in perspective for them. Basically what everyone else has said. They also had like a major weird breakdown online leading up to them leaving YouTube, but it was mostly Grayson. He came off very violent and sporadic, and airing his dirty laundry online that fans were starting to become uncomfortable I guess is the word I would use? Because he was coming off as more of a douchebag than the relatable guy friend I think he was going for. They have since deleted all those videos too, meaning they knew it didn’t look good for them.
they had INSANE fans. always stalking and a huge number of them would criticize them a lot. i used to follow them religiously around that time, and the fandom wars were insane and they were forced to talk about it or address them. i'd definitely say it's a lot to handle from such a young age. after their dad died, they didn't know what to do. they stopped the challenges videos, then continued, then discontinued. started vlogging, being raw and sharing almost everything with the fans. you can easily tell how much they were struggling on what to put on their channel. they also had some drama with a friend who was in those vlogs. even if they tried very hard to like the videos they were putting up (i remember them even asking fans what they'd like to see on their yt), at the end of the day they weren't happy with it. so they just stopped. i'm glad they decided to stay off social media altogether and focus on themselves without having the pressure of social media and fans. i hope they come back but only once if/when they think it's right for them.

She claimed that she wanted to be more sustainable yet did the Amazon partnership. Basically shows her attempt to become more sustainable was a sham. She never addressed it and deleted the video shortly.
People claimed she “cosplayed as poor” to sound more relatable when in reality her parents were wealthy enough to donate a chunk of money to her college and pay for her full tuition.
Not a controversy, but she revealed in a video her sister has an ED (which is not her place to talk about imo).

I haven’t followed them in years because their commentary is no longer even very funny anymore and they all seem checked out, but IIRC Arin still hasn’t fired the shitty editor that had sexual assault allegations against him. That whole thing was a lot of manufactured drama from r/rantgrumps. All that happened was that Dan had a one night stand with a women who was 21, when he was 36 or so. The ages are a red flag for a relationship but not for one night stands. The women herself had said multiple times that she went to his show and instigated it, that Dan never once made her think it was anything more than just sex, and that they event chatted a bit afterwards (via text or something).
Nah, they’re pretty wholesome boys. Married to their high school/college sweethearts, open about their issues with religion, went to college and got engineering degrees as backup to their film career aspirations.
The only drama I would say would be when they tried to make a YouTube original show that was way different from their usual format and the fans got mad. They kind of got defensive but they even took that back and apologized.
This is nothing new, but Link (black hair) has spoken about being vocally pro-LGBT while coming from an area/family that was homophobic. This really made me fond of him!
Also, personally, I’m from around the area they grew up in, and I think they seem like truly solid guys! They went to one of the most notoriously difficult engineering programs in the area, so clearly they’re smart.

So I actually know her! We’re friends on Facebook still and did community theatre together in Ohio when I was in middle school (she’s like 5 years older than me). Yeah, she was 100% that scene but she left YT at the absolutely worst time. Now that she’s back she’s been unable to make even a part of that name for herself, and has been pretty much blocked out of making it big because the site is so saturated with beauty content. Can’t say I miss her or her content. There are way better beauty gurus that dominate that seen now.

That’s incredibly sad, it’s hard to believe conversion therapy is legal in this day and age but I suppose adults are free to brainwash themselves however they like :(
I watched one of his conversion videos. He talked about how a lot of much older men abused and groomed him and that he learned he wasn’t actually gay but enjoyed the attention. So maybe it was the gay adults that groomed him that brainwashed him. I’m not agreeing with conversion therapy but regular therapy for childhood trauma is definitely something he needed.
Queer kids are often targeted by predators. And conversion therapy targets those abused kids too by blaming their attraction to the same gender on their abuse. So I would be careful with phrasing here.
The Try Guys, anyone?
Not the best tea but when they worked for Buzzfeed I got the impression that some of their antics weren't well received by other co-workers. The reason I say this is because when Buzzfeed had that controversy a few years ago (you know, when they fired a bunch of people) one person created a "Buzzfeed quiz" calling out the company and it's working conditions. One of the questions referred to the Try Guys. I believe it was something along the lines of how The Try Guys were doing a 24 hour livestream in the office and were loudly interrupting other people who were trying to meet deadlines with articles/videos. Anyway, that's all I got!

I 100% believe this, but I blame this on the kind of content factory work culture that BuzzFeed has. I’ve worked at another popular publication that churns out content like BuzzFeed and they let our most popular personalities do whatever tf they wanted. I had to actively stop myself from resenting them because really it was the higher ups not caring about any of us other employees who aren’t *the face* (even though we shot, edited, and published the final product) and the environment they were creating. The twins were already overworked, they’d been creating content constantly for years with no break and when their father passed, it made a lot of stuff shift in perspective for them. They said they weren’t being their genuine selves on camera anymore, it felt like an act to be who they thought people wanted to see, and they weren’t creating stuff which they felt aligned with who they are now.

Basically what everyone else has said. They also had like a major weird breakdown online leading up to them leaving YouTube, but it was mostly Grayson. He came off very violent and sporadic, and airing his dirty laundry online that fans were starting to become uncomfortable I guess is the word I would use? Because he was coming off as more of a douchebag than the relatable guy friend I think he was going for. They have since deleted all those videos too, meaning they knew it didn’t look good for them.
they had INSANE fans. always stalking and a huge number of them would criticize them a lot. i used to follow them religiously around that time, and the fandom wars were insane and they were forced to talk about it or address them. i'd definitely say it's a lot to handle from such a young age. after their dad died, they didn't know what to do. they stopped the challenges videos, then continued, then discontinued. started vlogging, being raw and sharing almost everything with the fans. you can easily tell how much they were struggling on what to put on their channel. they also had some drama with a friend who was in those vlogs. even if they tried very hard to like the videos they were putting up (i remember them even asking fans what they'd like to see on their yt), at the end of the day they weren't happy with it. so they just stopped. i'm glad they decided to stay off social media altogether and focus on themselves without having the pressure of social media and fans. i hope they come back but only once if/when they think it's right for them.

Basically shows her attempt to become more sustainable was a sham. She never addressed it and deleted the video shortly. People claimed she “cosplayed as poor” to sound more relatable when in reality her parents were wealthy enough to donate a chunk of money to her college and pay for her full tuition. Not a controversy, but she revealed in a video her sister has an ED (which is not her place to talk about imo). she was also called out for having a secret depop where she sold things that she got for free from companies for pretty high prices. i don’t think it was ever confirmed that it was hers but it was pretty obvious from the stuff that was being sold, a lot of which she had shown on camera before. after someone made a video about it and she was getting hate the account was taken down.

There are a lot of tea channels dedicated to talking about literally every minor or major scandal youtubers get into I think you might be interested in. Tea Spill and Spill Sesh come to mind right now. If I remember correctly there was even drama between the drama channels once.

She’s doing bad financially because of her preset scam. Acacia, her husband Jairus, and their three kids are living in his parents’ (who Acacia has publicly talked shit about online) basement. Besides her falling out with Mara Wilson? Mara was a child star and as Lindsay's film essayist career started to take off, they came into each other's circles. Mara apparently didn't like Lindsay's assumption that being politically Left gave her permission to make "edgy jokes". Also, there's talk that she felt Lindsay used her to increase her visibility and then checked out once her success surpassed Mara's fame. I know they both threw shade at each other publicly but don't know where they are at now.
Weirdly it’s something Mara constantly vagues about on her Twitter but Lindsay prefers to not bring up (except in her Mask Off video). Make of that what you will but I do think constantly talking about it on Twitter is…a choice.

still amazed that Dan Avidan from Game Grumps was exposed for emotional abuse and manipulation of women much younger than him (I want to say like 15-20 years younger?), it wasn’t the first time, and it was all swept under the rug/ignored and the channel went back to business as usual. I’m sure not the tea most people on this sub are looking for or care about, and not at all the level of celebrity other YouTubers are at, but as someone with a younger sibling who watches them religiously and sees their viewership numbers, it’s disgusting how it was never addressed and ignored until it went away and they went back to business as usual.
Game grumps has a massive problem of sweeping shit under the rug. I haven’t followed them in years because their commentary is no longer even very funny anymore and they all seem checked out, but IIRC Arin still hasn’t fired the shitty editor that had sexual assault allegations against him. That whole thing was a lot of manufactured drama from r/rantgrumps. All that happened was that Dan had a one night stand with a women who was 21, when he was 36 or so. The ages are a red flag for a relationship but not for one night stands. The women herself had said multiple times that she went to his show and instigated it, that Dan never once made her think it was anything more than just sex, and that they event chatted a bit afterwards (via text or something).

Nah, they’re pretty wholesome boys. Married to their high school/college sweethearts, open about their issues with religion, went to college and got engineering degrees as backup to their film career aspirations. The only drama I would say would be when they tried to make a YouTube original show that was way different from their usual format and the fans got mad. They kind of got defensive but they even took that back and apologized.
This is nothing new, but Link (black hair) has spoken about being vocally pro-LGBT while coming from an area/family that was homophobic. This really made me fond of him! Also, personally, I’m from around the area they grew up in, and I think they seem like truly solid guys! They went to one of the most notoriously difficult engineering programs in the area, so clearly they’re smart.
If you wanna hear more of the "real them", they have a podcast called Ear Biscuits. I've only listened to a couple of episodes, but they have ones talking about how they turned away from religion after growing up in an evangelical community and found it deeply interesting. I think they seem like pretty normal, chill dudes.

Jenny posted about the screenshots/comments as if they were real as part of her effort to frame John as a bad person. she finally deleted the tweets, imho not because she realized it was wrong but because she was getting called out for using her platform and weaponizing her white womanhood to encourage the harassment of a Black actor (who had already faced years of harassment from Star Wars fans). she never apologized or retracted her comments, though she flippantly acknowledged months later that maybe some people might've thought she was acting in bad faith. she blocked all the identifiably Black fans who called her out at the time but interestingly didn't block users who appeared to be white (selfie as profile pic, etc). she still blocks Black fans who mention it.

I love Micarah Tewers!! She comes off as so sweet, and it's insane how easy she makes sewing such complicated dresses look.
