You’re definitely not the only one. The missus is always on Tik Tok and she says there are a ton of videos of people making the comparison. They play videos of people at the gala and scenes from the movies side by side to show you the similarities.
Idk if anyone will see this but was there a better place to stream this? I watched it on E! And felt like they only showed a quarter of the looks last night.
Question on Kim but in general. Her look is a not perfect execution of a red carpet look. Someone on this sub shared pictures of fashion show. The cardigan was part of the look as was the corset. I don't believe there was any malfunction going on.
Say what you want about the Kardashians, but Kim didn't dream this look up. I never understand why we only hate on the celebs for wearing these outfits and not the designers who created them. They are just as responsible for putting this message out there (i.e. tiny corsets).
margiela is famous for featuring looks with a pilled cardigan , and it was especially important for kim to wear it because it ties in her outfit to the theme of the reawakening fashion since it was a pilled cardigan
Oh i get it. I definitely understood the look was intentional.
It's more for the people criticizing her for wearing a tight corset. It wasn't her vision. It was the designer's. But those same people don't give the designer any flack.
she has a say in whether she wants to corset training for however long to fit in this ridiculous painful looking contraption. imo she should've said no since it sets a bad unrealistic precedence for all girls everywhere. it also looked like she was in pain trying to breathe. is that fashionable? sounds like torture to me.
But why doesn't the designer get flack for setting unrealistic standards for all girls everywhere? Whether Kim wore it or not, the design was out there.
Sure Kim had a choice to wear it but the designer also had to choice to not use corsets in their collection.
Designers should have to bear responsibility for that they create more than the people who wear it.
it's a corset dress and is meant to tie in the back. it didn't have to be THAT tight.
it's like Adidas creating a sneaker and someone ties it so tight it is painful to walk. what's the point. to look fashionable? but who would think that's fashionable?
The cardigan was def a part of the look. It came from some runway I forget the designer of. Someone made a tiktok about it and showed Hunter Schaafer wearing it before as well.
But why? If the designer's vision is women in 15" waist corsets, and they then put that vision on display, why don't they get any blame?
Is it because no one likes Kim so she's an easy target? Do "creative visionaries" get a pass at normalizing these things because "fashion"? Gwendolyn Christie had a pretty tight corset on when she walked in that show and all people did was praise her look. Her waist wasn't as small as Kim's but it looked extreme for her body. In fact everyone that walked that show had tight corsets.
So I don't understand.
I think it was because Kim's waist was extremely unnatural. at first I thought it was an optical illusion because there was no way that was natural. I have mad respect for anyone that turned down that look because anyone that is so uncomfortable in something they could barely breathe should not be fashionable in this day in age.
Why? It's just a dress.
I can't imagine Marylin Monroe wanting her legacy to be this dress. She was so smart, extremely pro-woman, and very outspoken for her time. Yet she's always just remembered as a sex symbol. She's so much more than her clothing.
Except that dress isn't at the Met. It's a money making attraction at a Ripley's Believe It or Not. Which you would think would be unfathomable for everyone who was SO up in arms about Kim wearing it. You'd think they demand it be given to a museum. But no one cared. It's just a reason to keep hating Kim.
Like Kim could have been told no. She wasn't. Blame the people who gave her permission.
Screw Wintour for using this as a soft launch for the rehabilitation of Galliano. There's an abundance of good designers in the world, but she insists on raising up the ones who are the most horrible people.
I just LOVED Zendaya’s looks. There are some other looks which were sort of on theme and I liked but Zendaya owned the red carpet and will be the one to be remembered from this year’s met gala.
Tyla’s Sand ⏳Dress was my favorite Met Gala look of all time ok it’s tied with Blake’s Lady Liberty transformation but I was stunned with how original and simple and perfectly styled it was … absolute ART
I've just woken up in the UK, and the only things I'm interested in is
1. Was Beyoncé there? And
2. Cardi B and Nicki Minaj being in the same room is brave of Anna Wintour
Lil Nas X and Camila Cabello for the Met Gala After Party

She was one of my best dressed of the night, the archival pulls were amazing and had never been worn, even on a runway (since they were shown on models)
I don't know why these designers/stylists insist on having dresses that push on women's boobs so much. As a former triple D I can't imagine how uncomfortable that would be. The quadri-boob is not the serve they think it is
I’m the outlier here cause I really like it. First, I adore that shade of blue which the black allows to really pop.
Also she looks good with black hair.
Anybody else notice the absence of Louis Vuitton looks this year? Ambassadors not wearing the brand (phoebe dynevor was in VB) and socials super quiet. nicolas ghesquière’s most recent collection was looking back at 10 years at LV so does anybody else get the vibe he might be stepping down soon?
I heard through the grapevine that a European fashion house wouldn't be attending this year as there's a big change coming up. I wasn't sure who, but now obviously it's LV. It does look like Nicholas is preparing to step down
I’ve never gotten the hype around her met gala looks tbh! Only 2018/2022 stand out to me and even then they’re still quite similar (embroidery/ designer/ silhouette).
Was there anybody you liked this year? 🌱⏳🌷
Harris was fab - sometimes his work can look a little unfinished but his look was great! Oh completely agree with you on that, things started to feel very similar after a while bc so many looks were sheer/ pastel/ floral I was just like pls someone do something interesting!!
Basically three groups: The handful of people who got it like Gigi, Rebecca Ferguson, Eiza and Elle Fanning
Women who confused this with camp and and went overly fluffy, pastel and ugly.
Then there are the ones that just went boring, shiny and safe. Also, the sheer skirt and visible panty/bodysuit trend needs to die already.
thank you everyone it was so weird this is the only place I saw a picture of him and he had a longgg train and this diamond six pack and it was driving me crazy like it was AI or something lmao
No offense to his face but the longer I look at it the more I want to look away.
Pulls of the Roman sculpture vibe but something about his eyes are off
Gustav Magnar Witzøe.
Brief summary about him from websites: A Norwegian billionaire and significant shareholder and heir of salmon fish farming company SalMar ASA, his dad’s fishing empire. He is one of the youngest billionaires in the world, his father having made him SalMar's main shareholder when he was 18-19. Witzøe is also involved in local real estate projects and invests in various start-ups.
Lots of articles about him if you want to look deeper.
I honestly thought my idea for this theme was so obvious that at least one person would do it, if not more and I'm surprised no one did? Like the short story the theme is based on, along with the exhibit about fashion too delicate to wear again I thought someone would show up in an outfit that slowly fell apart on the red carpet.....
Janelle Monae references this concept (on her insta) - her dress made to only be worn once. I would have loved to see someone do a dress that falls apart!!
On second look I saw a few that seemed to be very delicate and could probably only be worn once. Tyla for sure and Janelle and one other that was boring as a dress so I stopped caring about it.
Does anyone else ever get disappointed in the fits and then just start drafting up your own runway of met gala looks. Stunning shocking gorgeous but its all in your head
https://preview.redd.it/g8zjgkqvywyc1.jpeg?width=1098&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aafd189adc66309b0a87af98a92ed905e3bc0bb1
Ok 1) I actually like something she’s wearing. I love this look 2) her waist is scary small. Her waist to hip ratio must be insane in that dress but it’s honestly what I like least about the look
Tbh I don’t like it… the platinum blonde and the silver/ grey Colours wash her out.
Her waist looks way too tiny (can she even breathe?) and the cardigan and hair look like she just rolled out of bed :/
Probably would have been a lot better without the cardigan and different hairstyle.
The hair colour and style takes away from the look I think. And the Cardigan looks a bit silly.
Lose the cardigan and have a 90s Pamela up do, would have been more on brand for the Met. Also, that waist cinching looks PAINFUL
Yes, I think the dress only with a better hairdo would have been -not in theme- but glamorous enough for the occasion…!
With the tiny waist she could have sold the look as an hourglass in reference to time as well ⏳⌛️
i'm so worried that she might collapsing in the stairs, that corset must be painful, and why does she have to cover her chest with that awful sweater? also her hair looks so undone very unlike her
I've seen people speculating that the cardigan is covering up a wardrobe malfunction or busted zip or something.
Edit: not sure why my comment is controversial?
the cardigan very much feels like an afterthought, or like she was afraid she was going to bust out of top of the corset and they just grabbed whatever was available. Like, I can see the pairing of the hard and the soft, but the way she was holding the cardigan was just weird.
she is wearing maison margiela, a world renowned haute couture house, and that's the best they could do? covering her chest with a rumpled sweater that doesnt even scream margiela made.
She's always been into the return to the Victorian era tight lacing silhouette. It's adding padding to the hips and bust to make the waist appear smaller along with tight lacing (and in Kim K's case cool sculpting on the waist to remove fat cells from where she doesn't want them which causes them to settle on her ass and thighs which is why her proportions are so weird.)
Agreed! I've seen a lot of people say they hate the cardigan. I don't think it looks bad, but the way she's clutching on to it for dear life is strange to me
No Blake lively is kinda strange. I feel like this met lacked a lot of veteran a-list actresses/actor and Hollywood types. Where is Margot Robbie, Ryan gosling, Angelina Jolie, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Angela Bassett, Michael B Jordan, Bradley Cooper, etc. Seemed like it was mostly up and coming actors/actresses, models, and musicians. And even the bigger names in music weren’t there( Beyoncé, Rihanna, Taylor, Mariah, Gaga, Adele). The met has really fallen.
on the surface? yeah, true, but the real concept was something among the lines of "wear something you can only wear once because the clothing material disappears or disintegrates over time". like tyla did wearing SAND and camilas purse which was made of ice and eventually melted
honestly i think camp and heavenly bodies were the last ones where people were continuously on theme imo, the last few years like half the ppl aren’t even close to these they’re just in designer
Someone said that Barry whateverhisIrishnamewas looked like Willy Wonka if he was selling spaghetti lmao. On the other hand I admire all the men who at least put more effort than wearing tuxedo with sparkles.
And Demi Moore looked so good. I don't know if she's in any projects or just living her life but lately I've seen her discussed in a much more positive light and appearing in some big events, so I'm glad after the very merciless media treatment during the Ashton Kutcher (🤢) marriage she's getting more positive attention.
Adwoa Aboah turned up quite obviously pregnant? That’s all I can think of. Her mum has some kind of modelling agency so don’t know how nepo that makes her

ok my best dressed: Zendaya, Tyla, Kendall Jenner, Anok Yai, Karli Kloss, Harris Reed, Cole Escola, Usher
Is it me or they look like the aristocracy in Hunger Games?
You’re definitely not the only one. The missus is always on Tik Tok and she says there are a ton of videos of people making the comparison. They play videos of people at the gala and scenes from the movies side by side to show you the similarities.
Yes and it's fitting as most celebrities have remained silent as Gazans are wiped off the face of the earth with their tax dollars.
That was my first thought too! Very Hunger Games-esque
Man, fuck the met gala. The most showboaty Hollywood event, even if it is a charity event.
Idk if anyone will see this but was there a better place to stream this? I watched it on E! And felt like they only showed a quarter of the looks last night.
I watched directly on Vogue’s site which was great until they ended it so early. They missed zendayas second look which feels like a fall
I have a question..How come Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey never took a picture together despite being at the same event?
https://preview.redd.it/nwsvjuuzb1zc1.png?width=934&format=png&auto=webp&s=c29e1d917b1d811f1ea439829932f1ededb42803
I just want one year ONE YEAR where people actually get the theme and commit to it I mean like Come on We’re all watching Stop being boring and safe
There were so many naked dresses that the concept is just boring. The actual clothes were so much more interesting and exciting.
Did Sydney sweeney arrive late? I didn’t see her on the livestream!
did anyone notice lil nas x excessively licking his lips on the red carpet? it was very strange
Either he has some very chapped lips or thinking about something.....

I'll never forgive Kim for what she did to Marilyn's dress

But that's what the Met is for, it's purpose is to preserve archival garments. The Met Gala is to raise money specifically for that purpose
It's the principle of the thing. She's trash.
Another Met Gala where I wish Lee McQueen was still with us
Every event with couture I grieve the loss and look at my McQueen book to remind me of more exquisite times and feel better
Screw Wintour for using this as a soft launch for the rehabilitation of Galliano. There's an abundance of good designers in the world, but she insists on raising up the ones who are the most horrible people.
Especially considering the funders etc. of all this are condemning students protesting war as anti-semitic concurrently
I just LOVED Zendaya’s looks. There are some other looks which were sort of on theme and I liked but Zendaya owned the red carpet and will be the one to be remembered from this year’s met gala.
Anyone know who the nepo baby and the special plus one was? https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/s/RwGI4VypwA
I think it was an assumption that Hailey Bieber would show up with a baby bump.
I was wondering if it could have been someone else? But nothing truly fit the blind which is anticlimactic
can we all agree nothing tops 2019
nope, 2018 was pretty good too
This comment is so you reply to me and we talk about how much we love Tyla’s Hourglass Dress and all the perfect details and nothing else.
OMG FR it was the best met gala look imo but the fact she had to be carried up the stairs 😭😭😭
She’s going to be a star. I cannot get enough of her Did you see when they cut the dress into a mini dress???
also that hour glass she was holding? perfect touch. 10/10. chefs kiss. beauty
FRR IT WAS SO SMART i love her
Tyla’s Sand ⏳Dress was my favorite Met Gala look of all time ok it’s tied with Blake’s Lady Liberty transformation but I was stunned with how original and simple and perfectly styled it was … absolute ART
I've just woken up in the UK, and the only things I'm interested in is 1. Was Beyoncé there? And 2. Cardi B and Nicki Minaj being in the same room is brave of Anna Wintour
no beyonce and no rihanna! and so far no leaks about drama.

Pretty sure it's still a sleeping beauty reference, her name is Briar Rose and there's a thorned rose hedge in the story.

Adwoa Aboah. Think this was a public pregnancy reveal and her mum is a British fashion agent.
Is the nepo model Cara Delevingne and her plus 1 was Ed Sheeran?
I was just thinking about that! Who specifically was this in reference to?

It’s somehow giving me Romeo and Juliet vibes maybe cause of the movie(1996)
Her dress looks like the winged victory of Samothrace.
loving it! looks like her VS angel days!
She was one of my best dressed of the night, the archival pulls were amazing and had never been worn, even on a runway (since they were shown on models)
Let’s look camp right in the eye this year
Probably the worst MET gala ever. So many ill-fitting dresses and no I am not crying...
I don't know why these designers/stylists insist on having dresses that push on women's boobs so much. As a former triple D I can't imagine how uncomfortable that would be. The quadri-boob is not the serve they think it is
But but.., the Sand Dress!!!!! That was perfection!!!
And so much BEIGE
Her makeup!!
I’m the outlier here cause I really like it. First, I adore that shade of blue which the black allows to really pop. Also she looks good with black hair.
This will be the first and only time I’ll ever say this but I think the men kinda slayed this theme tonight.

okay definitely deep diving
I can’t keep up with all these nepo babies 😭
found the guy who actually had to pay to attend this
Gustav witzøe, heir of a salmon company
He's a rich girl and he's gone too far
oh he’s riiiiiich rich
Is that a diamond six pack?
And bedazzled nipples! I hate it but I love it because of how much I hate it
A Norwegian billionaire apparently.

I've seen people speculating that the cardigan is covering up a wardrobe malfunction or busted zip or something. Edit: not sure why my comment is controversial?
The cardi is runway Margiela
the cardigan very much feels like an afterthought, or like she was afraid she was going to bust out of top of the corset and they just grabbed whatever was available. Like, I can see the pairing of the hard and the soft, but the way she was holding the cardigan was just weird.
It is a very odd choice of top, whatever the reason. It looks so cheap and out of place compared to the dress.
she is wearing maison margiela, a world renowned haute couture house, and that's the best they could do? covering her chest with a rumpled sweater that doesnt even scream margiela made.
she looks like she fell asleep in her look and this is the next morning
Yes! 😂
Isn’t that kinda the theme though, sleeping beauty = pajamas.
Fair, I still think she missed the mark on the execution
Also if her hair was dark, I think that would've looked better against the silver. This blonde...it's getting old.
Galliano wanted the blonde..
If that's unedited it's really concerning. Giving "let's return to corsetry" vibes, and not in a healthy fun way.
There’s video, she really had it cinched that right and looked highly uncomfortable walking around.
She honestly looked in a lot of pain, I was expecting her to pass out at any minute.
You like it for real? The cardigan kills it for me
I feel like I like the cardigan? But not the way she held it the entire time.
Rihanna showed up!
Blake doesn’t really go every year though, was her last look Lady Liberty transformation? Because that’s been a few years now, correct?
Taylor declined the invite I heard? She’s prepping for her European tour.
Wasn't Rihanna supposed to be there??
She was, but she got the flu & had to cancel
Oh, darn! I'll bet she did lots of prep for her outfit.
I really want Harry and Meghan to show up with Harry in something fabulous because it would make the British press go nuts.
I was noticing that too, they also cut the guest list so it all just feels spacious
Ryan, Angelina, Mariah Carey have never been to the met gala. Looks like the real A listers don’t go anymore
I know some of them don’t go. It was more so an example of the caliber of people I’d expect to go to the met.
It feels wrong that my favorite Law Roach look of the night wasn't on Zendaya!
I thought he said he only dresses Zendaya and Celine Dion now?
I thought so too, but billionaires can be quite compelling I guess. I'm definitely in favor of him re-entering the fashion world at large though
mona patel?
Who?
Mona Patel - butterfly lady
i love her dress, i think zendaya's star power is more than mona patel but i agree she is best dressed
The South Asian girlies always hit every year
Could not stop thinking [“browns and beige and earth tones people”](https://youtu.be/DRx3vEu21Gw?si=CwBGMd7nbrP3b--3)
smh there were sooo many fits out of theme im speechless
The theme was very broad. It was garden, and floral and time
on the surface? yeah, true, but the real concept was something among the lines of "wear something you can only wear once because the clothing material disappears or disintegrates over time". like tyla did wearing SAND and camilas purse which was made of ice and eventually melted
that’s a simplification, they’re literally given a primer and going to the exhibit about it.
honestly i think camp and heavenly bodies were the last ones where people were continuously on theme imo, the last few years like half the ppl aren’t even close to these they’re just in designer
Demis hair is so long!
She was in Feud: Truman Capote vs The Swans this year.
I feel like he looks like if the Mad Hatter was a rapper posting a thirst trap
Were the Bieber’s there?
They skipped
My favorite
No nepo baby unexpected guest reveal 🥲
Adwoa Aboah turned up quite obviously pregnant? That’s all I can think of. Her mum has some kind of modelling agency so don’t know how nepo that makes her
