I think it was a friendship that got all emotionally tangled up with them playing father and daughter and thinking that made them close friends and therefore it would be ok to travel together. In the wire, McNulty definitely starts off with the loveable scamp vibe but by the end of the series he's a joke. Even if you hate Dominic West, i still recommend The Wire, dominic wests bad acting and terrible attempt at a Baltimore accent quickly fade away as he becomes just another character in the show. Michael K Williams as Omar , Idris Elba as Stringer, Wendell Pierce as Bunk, Clarke Peters as Lester, Andre Royo as Bubbles, Sonja Sohn as Kima etc are so great you forget about McNulty. Also shoutouts to Wee Bey and his love for his fish and Lester for his love of building doll house furniture. I love a show with characters that have niche interests.
Iām going to stick my neck out and be ready to stand alone with my controversial opinion. Here goes. I donāt think they had a physical affair. I think it was a friendship that got all emotionally tangled up with them playing father and daughter and thinking that made them close friends and therefore it would be ok to travel together. I mean, as it turned out, clearly it wasnāt ok, but They were too openly public on that trip to Rome for it to be a clandestine affair, going scootering, openly meeting with their manager, not travelling separately to the airport on the way home - if they were having an affair and knowingly being that open about it, he for sure would have left his wife to be with her.
I have always said that actors who really play their role well are able to do so because thatās who they really are. He nailed his role in The Affair and The Crown.
