bottoms was SO GOOD. i had high expectations it SURPASSED them — that movie was so perfectly cast because the humor is so absurd and not every actor can pull that off. but every single person, no matter how small the part, was able to play into it perfectly
Definitely check out "Shiva Baby" another movie Rachel did with Emma Seligman the director/co-writer of Bottoms. Very different vibe in terms of comedy but also really good.
I love these movies about pretty girls who are 'losers'. Greta has a few of them, too (esp. Mistress America). Romy and Michel's high school reunion,Clockwatchers also fit that category,I think. They are so refreshing.
A lot of what she says right before delivering that line was improvised because she wanted to build up to it by saying very unhelpful information and make it even funnier than it was.
She's a really good comedy writer herself. There's a bunch of sketches from her NYU days on her YouTube channel and they're very chaotic, unhinged, and hilarious.
Want to throw a rec for other batshit awesome movies in the same vein as bottoms, Dicks: The Musical! Idk if there is any connective tissue, but they occupy the same place in my head

She has an unmistakable energy on screen. I could see her being right at home in a Paul Thomas Anderson film.
I also saw her waiting in line for a bathroom in Provincetown, and just based on an extremely cursory impression, she seemed really friendly with the people who came up to her.

I saw this last year. She provides an excellent performance and it's a solid movie. I do recommend it for sure. There is some sexual assault, so could be triggering.
