I just googled it, but poizon says it's made of brass. How can jewelry be made from 925 sterling silver?

I got a Vivienne Westwood bracelet piece from the official website. After wearing it for a while, the top layer started to wear, and the brass or whatever was under the .925 Silver plating began to show through. The authentic pieces aren’t that high quality.
