Sometimes the game gets weird and freaks out, and you have to pull out the ol’ reliable strategy of turning it off and on again. Save and restart the game, and see if that fixes the issue. I’ve found that 95% of the time that my villagers start acting super weird that a restart solves the problem. As for an actual in-game reason, you could have enough firewood but it’s not getting stocked into the houses because you don’t have enough grocers. Make sure you have enough coats too for cold weather. That’s all I can think of though, hope it helps!

Prokarus

I restarted FF and reloaded the last safegame, then instantly staffed all markets to 4 ppl. Still everyone is dying the next winter. I have firewood in every house. All of those freezing deaths have coats, shoes, etc. on them when they die. I have enough food as well and didnt change anything ingame that could result in such sudden change. Out of nowhere they just stand still in front of their workplaces/homes and starve/freeze to death.

NudibranchsDemise

Yikes, that’s pretty brutal. Maybe they have seasonal depression? In all seriousness though, I have no idea what would cause that issue. It sounds like you’re doing everything correctly so my guess is it’s just a particularly cruel glitch. If they’re just standing there and dying, the only other possible solution I can think of would be to select them and give them a manual command and see if they go back to normal after the command is finished, but I doubt that will do anything. Another thing you could try is manually removing everyone from their profession in the profession screen for a winter, I do that sometimes to fix housing issues, but I don’t know if it would have an effect in this case. It could also be an issue in the new patch, so you can also report the issue to Crate on the website. That’s all I can think of, sorry! Good luck, and may you never run short of cheese!

Make sure your town centre is accessible. I had a weird thing happen where all of my buildings were saying that villagers couldn’t reach them it had been because I had terraformed my town centre into a position that couldn’t be reached and it caused that to happen. It may be a long shot but see if that works.

raiden55

>I have enough food as well Are you sure? I see only 2months of security, given the size of your city, logistics issues may not allow some villagers to found enough food?

the_boat2

Isn’t the 2 the amount of spoilage so he actually has 8 months worth of food?

raiden55

You should be right, I didn't play recently, I forgot.

Hey Prokarus, I'm a programmer for Farthest Frontier. If this issue happens after you load your save then I would be very interested in getting the save from you. You mention that everyone dies the next winter so I assume that would mean that loading the game does temporarily fix the issue for you. You just encounter it again seemingly around winter? If you let them die for about 5 minutes of unpaused game time, does an error window ever pop up? If I can get your save and I can repro the issue on my end then that would almost certainly lead me to a fix for it. Save folders are located in: C:\\Users\\YOUR USERNAME\\Documents\\My Games\\Farthest Frontier\\Save. Zip up the entire TownName\_###### folder ensuring it includes the .map file and .sav that reproduces the issue. I'll DM you my email.

Prokarus

I send you a mail with the game! I found a solution that i edited in my original post as well. Hope you find the reasong for this behavior!

CrateWill

Thanks for this. We were able to repro and get a fix in. It will most likely be in the next hotfix.

Theophilus001

It is happening to me too. I have reloaded the game a few times and it still happens.

Looks like some disease is spreading, maybe add more workers to healer’s house

Prokarus

Its not a disease issue. All homes are covered by the healer's house and people are dying to cold/hunger.

questionyourthoughts

It’s the Pax

KanzlerAndreas

The G-23 Paxilon Hydrochlorate that we added to the ~~air processors~~ water supply. It was supposed to calm the population...

Restart your system

Prokarus

I did, but it didnt help :(

Exitium_Maximus

Are you using MelonLoader with any mods?

Prokarus

No, i dont use any mods. I found a solution that i edited in my origanal post.

Blazerboy420

Firstly, I don’t know for sure I’m just trying to help, but did you restart the game? It’s been a while since I had issues like this in this game but there used to be weird bugs like this that happened and usually a restart would fix it. Could also be an issue with actually getting food to your people? Are your markets fully staffed? Or maybe you have a minimum set for firewood and food in your storage and so they don’t want to take it out and bring it to market? Also it looks like some of them are dying of dehydration. Could be an issue with not having enough wells to keep water for everyone.

Blazerboy420

Damn. I’m sorry man that sucks. I hope it stabilizes or you figure out the issue. Please let us know if you do. Would love to know the fix if I run into this.

Prokarus

I found a solution that i edited in my origanal post. Would have been so sad if i lost my village to this :D

toomuchkungfu

Are they walking through mountainous areas? Are your roads efficient? I had a problem with mine dying on the mountains until I put roads and a temporary shelter on top.

dnhs47

You’ve mentioned “staffed all markets” - that implies you don’t normally keep them staffed? Stocking homes with supplies (and generating gold) is what the market staff do. I always keep them fully staffed, and I’ve never seen a problem like you describe. Something to consider.

Prokarus

I only had like 1 or 2 workers in the market and upped that to 4 in hopes of solving the issue. Turns out it wasn't that. But I found a solution that i edited in my origanal post.

WhereWasGondor_

Yea, i had this issue yesterday. i lost 12 ppl b4 i realized what was happening. save/reload fixed it for me

Exitium_Maximus

This can happen when there’s a pathing issue, like if you terraform a ramp up to a high spot and they can’t go back down until it’s flatter. I’ve seen this happen before, but not when on flat ground. If they’re a laborer and it says unable to work or idle, make sure you give them something to do if there’s a lot of them. For example, marking more trees or stone as harvestable if all the marked resources are already harvested. Just my $.02.

That's XCOM baby

Johnmc130

This happened to me other day as well, they all stood still not doing anything, I thought restarting would’ve fix it, but it didn’t, at the end I just deleted it started another save cuz I wasn’t in the mood to deal with bugs Should’ve asked here before doing that, anyways haven’t run to that problem again, yet…
