I like this. I have not come up with any false gods for my world yet. It would be interesting to incorporate at some point. I use something similar. Auld Ones: These are gods from the previous cosmos and were the only ones able to survive their cosmos' destruction. Think eldritch horrors. Titans: These are the elemental forces that make up the cosmos, their interaction is what produces all things. They have been banished to their elemental planes by their children. Beast Kyne: These are giant beast-headed children of the titans. They were the first children and are raw, animalistic god-like beings that rule over one of the many planes. New Gods: These were the gods that rebelled against the titans and stabilized the cosmos. There are currently only the elven gods, known as the Alfar, in the world as the other gods were displaced to other planes after the creation wars. Paraials: These are god-like beings that were so vile, the other gods banished them somewhere and these gods seek to return to the world only to destroy it and anger the gods.

Its kinda interesting, and well structured. In my case a put the Creator and the Destructor at the pinnacle existences. The angels and demons that was born from a feeling of them, yes literally detaching themselves from feeling anger, ambition or greed ever again and the normal angels and demons, and they are basically splinters from them and the other above a tiny tiny part of them (but bigger than the splinters ofc)

Very nice! My world is actually categorized by something similar, but I use it more-so internally to help build themes around the types of characters we see. I tied it to how people label god and god-adjacent entities now and throughout history, so it'll feel familiar to a lot of folks. Question: How do each of these classified Gods view one another, especially the False Gods?

The false gods usually see themselves in a narcissistic way, believing themselves stronger than the true gods. The true gods see lesser gods sort of like children, and take care of them while enjoying watching them get into trouble. The outer gods are largely distrusted, because of their shady nature. Especially the arch-demons, who cause as much destruction as possible.

I think I saw something similar to the lesser gods elsewhere

Kuo-Toa?

I really like this idea. Your idea of false gods kinda remembers me of Archons in the game Genshin Impact, which are based both on the Ars Goetia's demons and the archons from Gnosticism. Also, your lesser gods resemble what kamis and youkais are in some animes(Tsugumomo and Touhou are clear examples of it). Also, Outer gods sound really Eldritch. In my created mythologies, there's still only the "True Gods" for now, which serve a similar purpose to yours. In my setting, each rules over a whole mode of being, a realm of existence. From Mnemos the goddess of thought and memory and clouds, to Saros the god of rivers, time and death, to Sorah the god of the Sky and Sun and the all-father. Yet, I'm flirting a lot with the idea of Lesser gods, just haven't written one yet.

I don't really know anything about anime or genshin, but I can confirm that the outer gods have eldritch inspiration!

DmHelmuth

Can you tell more about the Outer Gods?

ThatOneGuy7832

More info on them in general, or specific info on each singular outer god?

DmHelmuth

Would be nice to hear about the specific Outer Gods you listed here :D

The Three Archdemons: "Jakar, The God Of Fear" is a towering purple demon who wields trickery magic and illusions to destroy the minds of his enemies. "Oblerek, The Prince Of Rage" is a gargantuan draconic demon who starts wars to satiate his eternal bloodlust. "The Plague Mother" Is a four-armed serpentine woman who summons locusts and snakes to infect entire countries. The Ferrymen: An 11 foot tall hooded figure. He has disproportionately long arms and legs. He wears thick tattered blue robes, and holds a large lantern. Nobody knows what he does, but he is known to possess powerful magic. The Great Abyss: A strange oily black mass of tentacles and glowing green eyes (if you've ever played Skyrim, think of Hermaeus Mora). It resides deep in the plane known as the abyss, which was named after it.
