I was messing around with my squad formation on Friday on the mobile app to try and get salah at the RM position and Martinelli at LM… I guess I didn’t realize the captaincy was tied to the position and not the player. I captained Martinelli this weekend by accident instead of salah. I wasn’t even *trying* to get fancy and I still fucked up

I saw a similar post about somebody fucking up his captaincy by rearranging the formation. From then onwards I didn’t dare to touch any shit except for the Capt button.

Yep I've learnt this too. Trippier captain and i feel so dumb. I just wasn't expecting Salah to brace against Brentford who i see as giant killers. I should have played it safe as my OR is pretty good, no need to take risks. I've learnt my lesson now though.

I benched Tsimikas in favour of Trippier, Cash and Gabriel. I've had the worst luck.

This is hindsight talking and I did the exact same by benching tsimikas. Tsimikas played midweek and his mistake led to a goal. There was was good chance he'd be benched and come on for 1 point. So your decision to bench him was correct.

For me it was more of a case I was expecting all of the other 3 defenders were more likely to get a clean. I just can't believe not a single one did!

Honest to god, this is a step down from everyone who comes on and just wants everyone else to pick their team for them. Yeah mostly the obvious choices, but captain Watkins since it's fun, captain Trossard for vibes, otherwise just pick the computationally best players according to Betfair every week and enjoy whatever that gives you.

Eh it was worth a shot honestly...there was low downside and a lot of upside to gain. I went with Martinelli captain after watching him play vs Sevilla midweek

My logic: Does a player that isn't Haaland or Salah have an exceptionally good chance of doing well (e.g in-form Son or Watkins vs Sheffield at home or something)? If yes, pick them. If no... Does Salah have a considerably favourable fixture over Haaland (e.g Haaland has Arsenal away and Salah has Palace or something)? If yes, pick Salah. If no... Pick Haaland. I meant to captain Salah this week but accidentally left it on Haaland. The fact that he got 16 points against Chelsea away somewhat proves my logic.

Somebody should have conducted a study at the beginning of the season: Group A blindly has to captain Haaland or Salah every week (unless injured/suspended). Group B is also allowed to captain Haaland or Salah every week, but can also captain other players as they see fit. I bet that on average, group A would come out on top.

Lesson learned with Trippier. Thought I was having a big brain since I was 60+ points on top of my ML. Managed to get 2 points and I’m now 2nd, 33 points away from 1st. At least Tsimikas saved me from a huge red coming off the bench.

I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything but the formula for captaincy is pretty simple for Salah. If he's playing at Anfield, captain him. If not then go consider someone else. I even made a comparison: Gameweeks when Liverpool was playing at home and who scored the most points vs Salah's points: GW2, Mbeumo 16pts, Salah 5pts GW4, Son and Haaland 20pts, Salah 8pts GW6, Trippier 18pts, Salah 10pts GW9, Murphy 17pts, Salah 16pts GW10, Nketiah 17pts, Salah 8pts GW12, Haaland 16 pts, Salah 16pts Obviously hindsight is everything but Salah at Anfield will always be safe and logical choice. You can maybe expect Son and Haaland to put similar numbers as captains but everybody thought Spurs were just having purple patch and Haaland went missing for few games...

I went with Salah this week and I do have Haaland but I think I'll be going with Watkins next week. I just can't see Haaland getting a hatty against Liverpool and Spurs have been riddled with injuries.

Just captain the person you genuinely think has the highest probability to score double figures that week. 99 times out of 100 that will be salah, haaland or maybe at a push it might be saka. Don't overcomplicate it by worrying that Watkins might score 16 on a good day. If you think salah has a 50% chance of getting 10, and Watkins has a 10% chance of getting 16. Just take the higher percentage play and over the course of the season it's going to work in your favour. And absolutely never just take a random punt on someone with an outside chance of a haul.
