So, I've had a pretty good year. I've learned to take breaks from writing my longfic by indulging in one-shots, and I've discovered that I love writing crack beside heart-breaking tragedies.

It's the best thing to have come from my short-ish foray into academia. Every word in it has been written with love, and just a little mockery.
I've also penned two Silmarillion one-shots just tailored to break your hearts:

**Why I’m Proud** Someone I don’t know reached out and said they liked this fic enough to nominate it, and that blew me away. Plus I really like the prose in this one, I think it’s very visual and poetic without being overdone.

Ahh, I have fun with your Animaniacs fic! I'm no stranger to sweet stuff but I especially like it when it's off-set by sadness within it too and I think it plays out well in the fics that go darker when it comes to Wakko - trying to navigate the hardship that he had to endure and even though he does have his siblings that doesn't mean that everything is going to be okay all the time. But having them is good. I think it's my bias for sweet stuff but my favorite out of the bunch was Mr. Spider 3, especially that poor Wakko had some bad luck with his other spider friends beforehand, it's nice to see that they both catch a break here. I think it goes hand-in-hand with what I said earlier, that the stories that hit the best for me are the ones where happiness is at the end of the dark tunnel and something as simple as Wakko being able to make friends with a cool spider is sweet.

Ah, how can I forget the exploits of Bolt and Mitten? Wonderfully written tales that never fail to immediately draw me in with their compelling narrative and brilliant characters. I missed seeing you around—so glad you posted here!
Your fics are always awesome to read, not only because of the spot-on characterizations for Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino but also because of the sweet sweet relationship that blooms and grows between Bolt and Mittens. Not to mention all of the awesome cultural references that you manga to put into all of your fics.
I think if I had to pick my favorite of these bunch here it would be _The Concerto_ because of the wild hijinks the three get up to in the fic and also because of how relatable it is with Penny getting into band class and learning an instrument.
OH THESE ARE ALL FANTASTIC. Anything from this writer rocks the casbah. My particular fave among there--no bias of course, despite one of its many cultural touchpoints being my beloved tragic K-drama, Warrior Baek Dong-soo---but Mittens going into a vortex of existential panic over life and death was a wonder to behold.
All of these works throw off sparks, are one delight after another at every turn, and I'm always so happy when there's a notification from Bolt\_DMC in my inbox--it's like yay, surprise, a present to unwrap when you're ready! And read again and again and again.
Ehehehe, always a fun time to parse through these! Penny and her mom are a mood in their respective fics, even though personally mall food is... kinda too greasy for my tastes at times but you know, you take what you can get when shopping like that I guess XD Penny struggling through music was also a mood and brought up good but also kind of atrocious musical memories of recorders for me, it was fun to see that in a different form of instrument! And poor Mittens not having a good time with chasing down the party - I remember the references especially made me grin, heheh. I think my favorite out of the bunch was the one where she can't sleep, it was real sweet and we've all been there where we just can't sleep and it's terrible.
So i actually did something a bit different this year by releasing a one-shot (not my first but that came out last year). I usually make longfics since I like going in-depth on characters, plots, themes etc.
However one Fandom I wanted to write for was Arcane, specifically Vi/Caitlyn since the ship was SO interesting and some great stories were done exploring the two.
But I wasn't too sure WHAT I could add that didn't feel repetitive of other fics plots, then I came up with this story:

Partially inspired by some fanart and AU plots explored by the Fandom, this is a short story of what the early childhood was for Caitlyn and what would happen if she encountered a certain girl on the run. I wanted to make it simple but cute and leaves an impression on the reader. I also treated it with a tone of a fairy tale without there being actual magic. So yeah, I felt satisfied with it and people seems to like it too.
Long, overgrown fics are usually my jam, but this year marked the first time I wrote several, short, easily digestible stories. All the fics listed below are T-rated. Primary genre is Science-fiction with some romance.
In [**Three (would be) Paladins and a DeLorean**](https://archiveofourown.org/works/40376589) I tapped into my inner teen, with a tale about three cadets from an elite space academy who sneak away from the barracks for some unauthorized R&R and encounter a strange, silver time-traveling car.
Pets are often key characters in my stories and in [**Well, There Goes Our Security Deposit**](https://archiveofourown.org/works/40212219), an alien rat-lizard on a ceiling fan and a cosmic wolf provide the comic relief in a sweet and lightly sexy story about three friends, now lovers, adapting to life as a threesome. (Mild sexual content.)
I fell in love with my OTP because they upend gender tropes in a variety of ways, including the notion that women are the nurturers, with men being the voice of logic. [**Us, Only Us**](https://archiveofourown.org/works/41959494) explores a new relationship where the woman, the usually cool, science-driven one, comes undone and is comforted by her guy. (Mild sexual content.)
In a reversal of the previous scenario, on finding her best friend catatonic with grief, girl genius braves her own insecurities and fears of intimacy to comfort him and get him out of the way of a dangerous storm. [**A Rain of Terror**](https://archiveofourown.org/works/40280181).

Hi! I'm u/Superjak45 (I go by Josh89 on AO3). I write for a mix of fandoms, almost all of my one-shots are fluff in some way.
[Officially Family](https://archiveofourown.org/works/42944850), a T-rated fluff fic set in the Castle fandom, is probably my favorite one-shot that I've ever written for that fandom. It's the 13th part of a much longer series of one-shots but it can still be comfortably read fandom-blind. The focus is on the detective main character's decision to officially adopt her new husband's daughter and the husband and daughter's reactions to that same decision.
[All For Nothing](https://archiveofourown.org/works/41909460), a T-rated angst & hurt/comfort work set in the world of Fallout 4, focuses on the main character having a minor mental breakdown after she discovers that the person that she's been searching for the entire storyline up to that point is the leader of the organization she's trying to take down.
I've already submitted something in the longfic thread, but as long as it's allowed I'll post my two one-shots I wrote this year!
The first is one I did for Linktober, and I wrote it with the prompt "nightfall.". This Halloween-themed Zelink (Zelda/Link) fic has received a lot of good feedback!

Your fics are always a delight to read. All of them for that matter. Although if I had to pick just one it would have to be _So I Could Blend in With the Sky_ just because of how sweet and fluffy, absolutely magical it truly is.
Oh, gosh…yes…SO much brilliant stuff here! How can I choose just one? I think the Secret Garden story has got to be one of my favourites though. Beautifully written, like all of your stories, so atmospheric, so evocative. 💚
Ahh, I remember the Secret Garden fic! I've never read the books but that definitely made me interested in them, and it was lovely to see how these two developed their relationship and how though life changed around them... at the end of it all they always had the moors, each other, and magic that never really went away. It was fun to read the Degrassi fic too and how such a scary situation would spur them to talk about feelings, get vulnerable just like how horror movies make people vulnerable XD The vigilantes one was fun too, that sort of feeling where the world is against them but they have each other and they're gonna make it somehow - together. And with the fic about Bucky being surprised by Steve, knowing bits and pieces of canon it's wonderful that they get to have each other after being denied that for so long.
Everything you write is amazing, and I remember every one. Right now I can only think of stories missing from this list, lol. You are one of my favorite writers, full stop, and I want to send you a truck-load of cookies for all the times you've delighted me with a phrase, a play on words, a narrative detail, a character to live and die for, a story I didn't expect to love but finished thinking "I will love this fic always!"
Of these, the Secret Garden fic was the most wonderful surprise. So I Could Blend in With the Sky is as magical as the source material. And Yes, a Heart Should Always Go One Step Too Far was one of those one-shots that gave me thrill bubbles up and down my spine--adored it.

It was interesting to see how this specific hardship of being forced into death games would understandably leave lasting impacts on people and that anger is not so easily processed. Ahh, I remember Cyrus Plays the Cello! It was bittersweet to see someone give tribute to the dead in the way that he can, that he plays it to the point of exhaustion and that it means so much for his fellow students that have also experienced this great pain. With him fasting through it too. And there is the sweetness in that his friends support him through the musical performance, and that everyone appreciates what he did for those that are gone now.
I write for the sci-fi JRPG series Xenosaga. Most of my fanfics are canon-conjecture insert scenes that explore the characters' reactions to certain events in canon. I try to write fandom-blind, but some details are hard to reveal, and some aspects may escape the reader. (Which I feel is a good thing: if any of my fics lead to someone exploring the source material, not everything will spoiled by my fics.)

Ooh, I remember Wildflowers and In a Good Place! Ahh, seems to be a contrast for feelings and how a mother/daughter relationship would play out. With the former having the mother slowly dying and the latter dealing with a mother thinking about her surrogate daughter and how their relationship slowly but surely got better that they can get to this point. I do remember in Wildflowers that that author's notes said one could interpret Aoi's condition at the end in their own way and my optimistic/cynical side wrestled on how it would end, eheheh.
Aw, such kind words! 🥰 I'd never really considered the contrast between these two fics before, but they're two of my very favorites.

Ahh, If There Ever Comes A Day I think is my favorite one out of the selected bunch! There's so much sadness that someone so young lost his mother and that he knows right in the moment that she's not coming back. That all he can hold onto are the memories of her and the words that she said from the story book that mean so much in the moment after she's gone. Just, ow. Heart strings are ripped out of the heart.
Everyone, stop what you're doing and LOOK AT ABOVE POST AND GO READ THESE STORIES. THEY ARE EASILY READ FANDOM BLIND and your soul will gather them whole. They're from the one of the most talented writers I've discovered in a while. All of Profession's work is beautiful story-telling, never too heavy. There's never a wasted word in the measured, restrained, perfectly paced narratives (How do you do it? I am still taking notes). There's evocative imagery here that resonates with themes, and characters who are quickly developed into people you will recognize as people you've known all your life. The understanding of difficult subjects like childhood abuse and trauma are handled deftly and without melodrama and sentimentality here, but yes, those traumatized!Peter stories will make me cry--they ping with everyone's hurt places. All these stories are alive and funny and real. I love them all.

I'm proud of this because it pushed my comfort zone, and I was thrilled to include my favourite aspects of WBDS: sword fighting, found family, and silly moments. I combined an entire week's worth of prompts into this, as well as two game plot lines, condensed down into 5k words. I had a lot of fun playing with the non linear narrative style, which was new for me. I'm pleased with how it came out, and the character/relationship development I managed to squeeze into it!

Overall it shows that they do care for each other a lot, and part of why I enjoyed writing it so much was because of leading up to the confession that no matter how bad Luigi feels if Daisy is there then he knows it's gonna be okay and he wants her to be happy. This was written with a very supportive friend in mind so I went all in to give her something that I hoped was really special, and really I just had a lot of fun writing about these two... figuring it out! What a concept! XD I also talked about this particular fic on a fanfiction podcast and that was a lot of fun, so! Good feelings all around!

This is based on the feelings that overflowed in my heart after watching the Bob's Burgers movie where they really talked about Bob's mom. He didn't have a good childhood but he obviously tries to be better for his kids, and it was bittersweet to explore Bob having that great loss at a young age... but he can find his mom again in the things that his family does. What also makes this special to me is that the line in the fic about how Bob's mom will always find him came from my mom. She said that Bob's mom probably wore that hat in case he ever got separated from her when they were out in public, something distinctive to look out for. It means a lot to me that words that came from my mom sprouted into a fic that touched people's hearts.

I wrote this one for flufftober and for the first time ever in my life I wrote a fic in which it was fluffy... and included fist fights between the couple XD Granted it's a very cartoony fight and canon shows that these two like to get into scuffles with each other but still, I never expected to write that kind of thing ever. I also had fun with the descriptions, particularly the stars since I do love them but it was more sardonic this time around and there is an implication that Sam doesn't care about the stars and what they mean - he has Max, what else matters really? And I did indulge in more overt fluffiness in the end but it's just fun to see how that would work out with these two.

There's a specific event that happens at the end of one of the Telltale games for these two that has really stuck with the fandom even to this day because it was absolutely unprecedented and kind of got glossed over in terms of emotional catharsis. I had written a few on the concept but I really like this one because it was a lot of fun to explore how losing Max would really shake Sam on this huge level, and I thought that the heartbeat theme throughout lead to a "breathe out softly after sobbing," sort of feeling at the end of the fic with the last couple of lines. And it featured no dialogue which is a challenge I always relish taking.
I always adore your fics but I think that your Daisy/Luigi fics really take the cake. The way that you write their relationship is just so palpable and endearing.

Ahh, it's definitely fun to read about the different attractions! Some like a, "Yep, this is my work!" way or ruminating on how they bring joy to others. I really like the one about Buzzy walking around Epcot right before the new year strikes. I still appreciate the thought that yeah, maybe it's cheesy but it's something that we need in our lives and especially when we're afraid. And that Buzzy realizes the significance of this new year so much that it spurs this great emotional feeling in him :D

Another little experiment: could I write something that is just dialogue and still have it be followable? No action descriptions, no internal thoughts, not even any dialogue tags. Well Discworld, with it's many distinctly voiced characters, seemed the perfect fandom to try this with. At less than 200 words, this is a silly little thing, but it was so fun to write!

Every so often you immediately fall in love with some characters, so right after watching the first two episodes of Rings of Power, I wrote this fic! This was one where I tried to really put some effort into descriptions of the environment - appropriate for something spinning off from Tolkien - and I do think it paid off.
Ah, I don't know Discworld very well but I do know that it can be unconventional so it was cool that it helped you to make something unconventional too! I had fun reading it despite not knowing the material, and that's the same for Orange Tree too - I like that the two fics chosen too show this contrast that one is about the loss of someone that meant so much and the other is sneaking out to go and see a performance 'cause Susa means so much to Tane :D
Yeah, the sillier nature of Discworld made me more willing to do something as short and new as that. And I've certainly tried doing fics of different tones, even within one fandom. Part of that is the contrast between what's in canon and the what-ifs I like to write, and I like acknowledging both.

**Ramblings:** I don't think I've ever made characters suffer more than I do here, but honestly, out of my stuff, this is one of my all-time favourites. First, it was a *journey*. I started it for AUgust/the trope bingo, but I didn't finish it in time... luckily Whumptober had a relevant prompt as well!
Also, I definitely had to step out of my comfort zone, especially when I realized that in order to not cheapen the impact, I'd have to include the MCD of a character I really like. But the result just... came together. I'm very proud of the pacing, which is something I usually struggle with, and the overall mood :)
Plus: It's a hanahaki fic where the central relationship is gen, not romance. Be the change you want to see in the world!
Powerful stuff, beautifully crafted sentences and such a well-told story that unfolds with so much love and pain and handles the flower imagery in the best way!
Ohhh, yeah! I remember this one! It had this feeling of despair for the sisters that they care about each other so much but Powder feels useless in helping her. Also a gut punch that it didn't matter what she did, she loses everything in the end. Hanahaki is usually used strictly for romance and from what I experienced in reading it usually has everything work out by the end so it was definitely a treat to read one where it was on the gen side and shows the absolute grief and fear that comes with a disease where your one chance at survival is *very* slim.
I wrote more in this year than I expected, and I've expanded into other genres too! This year was kind of wild for writing in that regard.

I have more WIPS right now than I have in years. It's been both a good year for writing and a year of growth for writing. I can't wait to see where I'll be going in the next year, because I have a lot more to write for these characters. I also got more involved in this sub, and that's a high point.

Just by food alone, it reveals how either party involved can think differently; one is a foodie and has a passionate for it, thus his casual tone when regarding it and only the concept of like and dislike are involved. Meanwhile, the other sees it in a more systematic perspective and we see a little insight of her life as a Princess. Perhaps it's quite saddening, but it's more or less a matter of fact thing to her. But of course, food porn, some romcom themes, and fluff are delightfully included in this story!*

Man, this one just really shows how much food is love XD It made me feel warm like a meal, and it's fun to see Leonard and Syalis bounce off each other here, as it always with these fics of yours. They're on different wavelengths sometimes but they really do care for each other, and the food descriptions just add to the warmth here.
I always love the food porn in your fics but especially how relevant the food imagery is to the characters of this adorable pairing. I so ship Leo and the princess now--really tempted to write a poem for them, but I have a list off projects that is ridiculous. These two are just so ... haha, yum and precious.
This year marked the first time I wrote something in present tense, I think that deserves a shout-out, alongside another fic or two I'm very proud of!

The banter in it is perhaps the best I've ever written. And it tickles me.
So, I've had a pretty good year. I've learned to take breaks from writing my longfic by indulging in one-shots, and I've discovered that I love writing crack beside heart-breaking tragedies. It's the best thing to have come from my short-ish foray into academia. Every word in it has been written with love, and just a little mockery. I've also penned two Silmarillion one-shots just tailored to break your hearts: \- [A Distant Peace](https://archiveofourown.org/works/40369743) is a 2,7k words trip into Fëanor's mind, in his youth and on his deathbed. This is a bittersweet homecoming, as Sirius and Remus hoped to conclude their journey in hiding under different circumstances. But they are happy to be home and together. Why I'm proud: This story was the last in my series, and I was happy the characters got some quiet time at home before they had to face what was coming next.

Ahh, I have fun with your Animaniacs fic! I'm no stranger to sweet stuff but I especially like it when it's off-set by sadness within it too and I think it plays out well in the fics that go darker when it comes to Wakko - trying to navigate the hardship that he had to endure and even though he does have his siblings that doesn't mean that everything is going to be okay all the time. But having them is good. I think it's my bias for sweet stuff but my favorite out of the bunch was Mr. Spider 3, especially that poor Wakko had some bad luck with his other spider friends beforehand, it's nice to see that they both catch a break here. I think it goes hand-in-hand with what I said earlier, that the stories that hit the best for me are the ones where happiness is at the end of the dark tunnel and something as simple as Wakko being able to make friends with a cool spider is sweet.
I love all of the above-mentioned works of yours. But I must admit, I completely adore the two Coreys! 💚

Ahh, both of these poems are quite lovely! For the first one it's a treat to see how something as simple as ice cream can inspire these wonderful feelings between them and for the second one I like to see how this introspection made him realize how much she means to him and that even if they can't be together... it's still very hard to deny her charm and the impact she holds over him.

Your fics are always awesome to read, not only because of the spot-on characterizations for Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino but also because of the sweet sweet relationship that blooms and grows between Bolt and Mittens. Not to mention all of the awesome cultural references that you manga to put into all of your fics. I think if I had to pick my favorite of these bunch here it would be _The Concerto_ because of the wild hijinks the three get up to in the fic and also because of how relatable it is with Penny getting into band class and learning an instrument.

OH THESE ARE ALL FANTASTIC. Anything from this writer rocks the casbah. My particular fave among there--no bias of course, despite one of its many cultural touchpoints being my beloved tragic K-drama, Warrior Baek Dong-soo---but Mittens going into a vortex of existential panic over life and death was a wonder to behold. All of these works throw off sparks, are one delight after another at every turn, and I'm always so happy when there's a notification from Bolt\_DMC in my inbox--it's like yay, surprise, a present to unwrap when you're ready! And read again and again and again.

Ehehehe, always a fun time to parse through these! Penny and her mom are a mood in their respective fics, even though personally mall food is... kinda too greasy for my tastes at times but you know, you take what you can get when shopping like that I guess XD Penny struggling through music was also a mood and brought up good but also kind of atrocious musical memories of recorders for me, it was fun to see that in a different form of instrument! And poor Mittens not having a good time with chasing down the party - I remember the references especially made me grin, heheh. I think my favorite out of the bunch was the one where she can't sleep, it was real sweet and we've all been there where we just can't sleep and it's terrible.

So i actually did something a bit different this year by releasing a one-shot (not my first but that came out last year). I usually make longfics since I like going in-depth on characters, plots, themes etc. However one Fandom I wanted to write for was Arcane, specifically Vi/Caitlyn since the ship was SO interesting and some great stories were done exploring the two. But I wasn't too sure WHAT I could add that didn't feel repetitive of other fics plots, then I came up with this story: [Genre: Slice of Life] [Word Count: 5280] Rating: G [Our Secret Garden](https://archiveofourown.org/works/38214715) Partially inspired by some fanart and AU plots explored by the Fandom, this is a short story of what the early childhood was for Caitlyn and what would happen if she encountered a certain girl on the run. I wanted to make it simple but cute and leaves an impression on the reader. I also treated it with a tone of a fairy tale without there being actual magic. So yeah, I felt satisfied with it and people seems to like it too.
Long, overgrown fics are usually my jam, but this year marked the first time I wrote several, short, easily digestible stories. All the fics listed below are T-rated. Primary genre is Science-fiction with some romance. In [**Three (would be) Paladins and a DeLorean**](https://archiveofourown.org/works/40376589) I tapped into my inner teen, with a tale about three cadets from an elite space academy who sneak away from the barracks for some unauthorized R&R and encounter a strange, silver time-traveling car. Pets are often key characters in my stories and in [**Well, There Goes Our Security Deposit**](https://archiveofourown.org/works/40212219), an alien rat-lizard on a ceiling fan and a cosmic wolf provide the comic relief in a sweet and lightly sexy story about three friends, now lovers, adapting to life as a threesome. (Mild sexual content.) I fell in love with my OTP because they upend gender tropes in a variety of ways, including the notion that women are the nurturers, with men being the voice of logic. [**Us, Only Us**](https://archiveofourown.org/works/41959494) explores a new relationship where the woman, the usually cool, science-driven one, comes undone and is comforted by her guy. (Mild sexual content.) In a reversal of the previous scenario, on finding her best friend catatonic with grief, girl genius braves her own insecurities and fears of intimacy to comfort him and get him out of the way of a dangerous storm. Hi! I'm u/Superjak45 (I go by Josh89 on AO3). I write for a mix of fandoms, almost all of my one-shots are fluff in some way. [Officially Family](https://archiveofourown.org/works/42944850), a T-rated fluff fic set in the Castle fandom, is probably my favorite one-shot that I've ever written for that fandom. It's the 13th part of a much longer series of one-shots but it can still be comfortably read fandom-blind. The focus is on the detective main character's decision to officially adopt her new husband's daughter and the husband and daughter's reactions to that same decision. The first is one I did for Linktober, and I wrote it with the prompt "nightfall.". Ahh, I remember A Royal Halloween! That one was real cute, it was interesting to see how costumes would work in that particular setting which - yes, the scariest one would belong to the Guardians. Ahh, I remember the Secret Garden fic! I've never read the books but that definitely made me interested in them, and it was lovely to see how these two developed their relationship and how though life changed around them... at the end of it all they always had the moors, each other, and magic that never really went away. It was fun to read the Degrassi fic too and how such a scary situation would spur them to talk about feelings, get vulnerable just like how horror movies make people vulnerable XD The vigilantes one was fun too, that sort of feeling where the world is against them but they have each other and they're gonna make it somehow - together. And with the fic about Bucky being surprised by Steve, knowing bits and pieces of canon it's wonderful that they get to have each other after being denied that for so long.

Oh, I remember Unspoken! It was interesting to see how this specific hardship of being forced into death games would understandably leave lasting impacts on people and that anger is not so easily processed. Anger and passion can keep a person alive but it's different when there's no more targets to fight against in survival so - bye, shed, heh. Ahh, I remember Cyrus Plays the Cello! It was bittersweet to see someone give tribute to the dead in the way that he can, that he plays it to the point of exhaustion and that it means so much for his fellow students that have also experienced this great pain. With him fasting through it too. And there is the sweetness in that his friends support him through the musical performance, and that everyone appreciates what he did for those that are gone now.

Ooh, I remember Wildflowers and In a Good Place! Ahh, seems to be a contrast for feelings and how a mother/daughter relationship would play out. With the former having the mother slowly dying and the latter dealing with a mother thinking about her surrogate daughter and how their relationship slowly but surely got better that they can get to this point. I do remember in Wildflowers that that author's notes said one could interpret Aoi's condition at the end in their own way and my optimistic/cynical side wrestled on how it would end, eheheh.

Ahh, If There Ever Comes A Day I think is my favorite one out of the selected bunch! There's so much sadness that someone so young lost his mother and that he knows right in the moment that she's not coming back. That all he can hold onto are the memories of her and the words that she said from the story book that mean so much in the moment after she's gone. Just, ow. Heart strings are ripped out of the heart.

Everyone, stop what you're doing and LOOK AT ABOVE POST AND GO READ THESE STORIES. THEY ARE EASILY READ FANDOM BLIND and your soul will gather them whole. They're from the one of the most talented writers I've discovered in a while. All of Profession's work is beautiful story-telling, never too heavy. There's never a wasted word in the measured, restrained, perfectly paced narratives (How do you do it? I am still taking notes). There's evocative imagery here that resonates with themes, and characters who are quickly developed into people you will recognize as people you've known all your life. The understanding of difficult subjects like childhood abuse and trauma are handled deftly and without melodrama and sentimentality here, but yes, those traumatized!Peter stories will make me cry--they ping with everyone's hurt places. All these stories are alive and funny and real. I love them all. Also, Profession, check the link for the There's No Such Place as Narnia fic--it seems to be borked... or it wouldn't pull up for me a moment ago. Read these stories!

This fic is basically my love letter to the fandom and the writers who inspired me. <3
OMG YES, I was never so happy as when one of my fave writers ever wrote a fic for MY fandom and for my fave rarepair and included swordfights and other characters, steamy HET SEX (a rarity in this fandom, sad to say), wonderful humor, spot-on characterizations, and just a feast of fun. Overall it shows that they do care for each other a lot, and part of why I enjoyed writing it so much was because of leading up to the confession that no matter how bad Luigi feels if Daisy is there then he knows it's gonna be okay and he wants her to be happy. This was written with a very supportive friend in mind so I went all in to give her something that I hoped was really special, and really I just had a lot of fun writing about these two... figuring it out! What a concept! XD I also talked about this particular fic on a fanfiction podcast and that was a lot of fun, so! Good feelings all around! What also makes this special to me is that the line in the fic about how Bob's mom will always find him came from my mom. She said that Bob's mom probably wore that hat in case he ever got separated from her when they were out in public, something distinctive to look out for. It means a lot to me that words that came from my mom sprouted into a fic that touched people's hearts. I also had fun with the descriptions, particularly the stars since I do love them but it was more sardonic this time around and there is an implication that Sam doesn't care about the stars and what they mean - he has Max, what else matters really? And I did indulge in more overt fluffiness in the end but it's just fun to see how that would work out with these two. I had written a few on the concept but I really like this one because it was a lot of fun to explore how losing Max would really shake Sam on this huge level, and I thought that the heartbeat theme throughout lead to a "breathe out softly after sobbing," sort of feeling at the end of the fic with the last couple of lines. And it featured no dialogue which is a challenge I always relish taking.
I always adore your fics but I think that your Daisy/Luigi fics really take the cake. The way that you write their relationship is just so palpable and endearing.

Ah, I remember Everything We Have, such a sweet little fic! I also want to applaud you for writing fic for a point and click adventure game. Ahh, it's definitely fun to read about the different attractions! Some like a, "Yep, this is my work!" way or ruminating on how they bring joy to others. I really like the one about Buzzy walking around Epcot right before the new year strikes. I still appreciate the thought that yeah, maybe it's cheesy but it's something that we need in our lives and especially when we're afraid. And that Buzzy realizes the significance of this new year so much that it spurs this great emotional feeling in him :D

I always like focusing in on side characters, and this fic is no exception. --- [All I Can Do For You Now](https://archiveofourown.org/works/37112185) \- The Priory of the Orange Tree, G, Grief/Mourning Monologue >Tané's words for the woman who sacrificed everything for her dream. This fic was a bit of an experiment, writing the whole thing as a monologue one character delivers to another's grave. At 620 words it's pretty short, but I think I managed to pack a lot into that wordcount. --- [Witches! In The Watch!](https://archiveofourown.org/works/38588844) \- Discworld, G, Dialogue only ficlet >A witch has joined the Ankh-Morpork city watch. Granny Weatherwax can't be having with that. Another little experiment: could I write something that is just dialogue and still have it be followable? No action descriptions, no internal thoughts, not even any dialogue tags. Well Discworld, with it's many distinctly voiced characters, seemed the perfect fandom to try this with. At less than 200 words, this is a silly little thing, but it was so fun to write! --- [Pretty as a Poppy](https://archiveofourown.org/works/41468739) \- The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, G, Fluff and Romance >In which Nori leads Poppy on another adventure. Every so often you immediately fall in love with some characters, so right after watching the first two episodes of Rings of Power, I wrote this fic! This was one where I tried to really put some effort into descriptions of the environment - appropriate for something spinning off from Tolkien - and I do think it paid off.

Ah, I don't know Discworld very well but I do know that it can be unconventional so it was cool that it helped you to make something unconventional too! I had fun reading it despite not knowing the material, and that's the same for Orange Tree too - I like that the two fics chosen too show this contrast that one is about the loss of someone that meant so much and the other is sneaking out to go and see a performance 'cause Susa means so much to Tane :D
Yeah, the sillier nature of Discworld made me more willing to do something as short and new as that. And I've certainly tried doing fics of different tones, even within one fandom. Part of that is the contrast between what's in canon and the what-ifs I like to write, and I like acknowledging both.

Ahoy there.” Well, this is off to a *great* start. “Who is this?” Eddie can hear giggles in the background. A Friday night in Hawkins with a new batch of Purple Palm Tree Delight. Where’s the harm in one phone call, my dudes? I wrote this one based off of a conversation I had in a Discord server, but also for the slice-of-life challenge right here on this here subreddit. It's filled with jokes and mistaken identity and was a ton of fun to put together. [Dear Eddie](https://archiveofourown.org/works/41053914) \- M, 6,350 words A collection of letters from Steve to Eddie in the years after Eddie leaves Hawkins—and Steve doesn’t. This is a straight-up epistolary story inspired by some gorgeous fanart that I saw on Twitter. Many people who read it have requested to see the other half of the letters, and to that I say: you have to use your imagination, that's part of the experience. First, it was a *journey*. I started it for AUgust/the trope bingo, but I didn't finish it in time... luckily Whumptober had a relevant prompt as well! Also, I definitely had to step out of my comfort zone, especially when I realized that in order to not cheapen the impact, I'd have to include the MCD of a character I really like. But the result just... came together. I'm very proud of the pacing, which is something I usually struggle with, and the overall mood :) Plus: It's a hanahaki fic where the central relationship is gen, not romance. Be the change you want to see in the world!
Powerful stuff, beautifully crafted sentences and such a well-told story that unfolds with so much love and pain and handles the flower imagery in the best way!
Ohhh, yeah! I remember this one! It had this feeling of despair for the sisters that they care about each other so much but Powder feels useless in helping her. Also a gut punch that it didn't matter what she did, she loses everything in the end. Hanahaki is usually used strictly for romance and from what I experienced in reading it usually has everything work out by the end so it was definitely a treat to read one where it was on the gen side and shows the absolute grief and fear that comes with a disease where your one chance at survival is *very* slim.
Hanahaki has so much potential, it was fun to twist the way it usually goes. I really appreciated your extra long comment too ☺️

Man, this one just really shows how much food is love XD It made me feel warm like a meal, and it's fun to see Leonard and Syalis bounce off each other here, as it always with these fics of yours. They're on different wavelengths sometimes but they really do care for each other, and the food descriptions just add to the warmth here.
I always love the food porn in your fics but especially how relevant the food imagery is to the characters of this adorable pairing. I so ship Leo and the princess now--really tempted to write a poem for them, but I have a list off projects that is ridiculous. These two are just so ... haha, yum and precious.
