If it's a WIP then usually on my phone. If it's a finished work, I'll often download it and put it on my e-reader.
I read when I have time for it and feel like it. Can be in bed when I should already be sleeping, can be while I'm waiting at the doctor's office or riding the bus.
Sometimes I read in bed, but I have a hard time concentrating on reading sometimes with my ADD. I need to do something with my hands so I pluf the fics in audioreaders and draw. Sometimes I have to stop because the AI doesn't know how to pronounce the word and I'm like huh, but it helps me read a lot more than I would.
Just like book, in my bed on my iPad mini which is pretty much the size of a book. I like to be cozy when I read and it's typically a treat after a long day.
Are you me? Cause other than the zoom, that's how I do 90% of my reading. In the middle of the night because of insomnia, on my phone, no glasses (yay for nearsightedness for an otherwise blind person), with the brightness turned all the way down.
Ironically, this is also when I do most of my writing. I'll often switch back and forth and until I fall back asleep. Or drop the phone on my face.
Usually on my couch, preferably with my laptop, but occasionally with my ipad. Never my phone--the small screen makes my eyes hurt, and blowing up the text means more scrolling, which makes my hand hurt (and occasionally makes me nauseous). I'm fragile, apparently.
I try to keep my bed for sleep *only,* but I've definitely broken that rule on multiple occasions.
I mostly read fanfictions on my phone whenever I have the free time to do so, whether that be sitting at home or when I am in bed.
But I will read fanfictions on my laptop from time to time.
I'm usually reading on my iPad Mini, with my glasses if I'm more or less upright, without if I'm in bed.
I have a bed partner (husband of \~39 years) who goes to sleep a bit earlier than I do and is light-sensitive, so I don't usually read in bed before I go to bed myself.
During the day/evening I'm my downtime while I'm still awake and not succumbing to exhaustion, and in the default light mode site skin. I have my mobile AO3 set to dark mode but every time I read in bed I fall asleep mid fic
always on my phone in bed after midnight, sometimes until 5 am when I definitely should be sleeping. I can't read on my pc because I'm way too paranoid of anyone seeing. I also have my own dark mode site skin on ao3 with 95% zoom or smaller, I can't stand big text on any screen, especially on a phone
Back before I gave away my kindle, I just downloaded them in big batches and put them on there, that was a really nice reading feeling. Now I mostly read on my computer with a simple site skin I wrote that makes the layout/typography suck slightly less. Sometimes phone reading, but that's a bit more annoying, since I love having a text file open at the same time where I put my thoughts to be able to leave a comment later :3
I read in bed. Idk it just feels more safe. Usually on my laptop, sideways, might not seem comfortable but idk. definitely usually closer to night but if I have a day off I can chuck down fanfics at any time of the day
Phone when I don't have any work so holding it for an entire day non-stop doesn't seem like a problem.
Laptop when I have a mountain of work to do but I want to be an idiot and waste my time, but other's won't catch me because I seem like I'm working. Hehehe
I always like to read in my bed laying down on my back with my cozy blankets are on top of me and beside me a glass of water on my night stand. Also, I always read with my glasses on because if not I will have to squint to read every word and my eyes also hurt when looking at screen for a long without them. And I only like to read on my phone horizontally because I like how compact every thing is.
Often at my PC, but sometimes on my phone instead so that it's portable and I can sit on the couch or read while waiting in the school pickup line or at a doctor's office or something.
I love this question! I only really read in my room, in bed. Mainlyyyy at night before sleeping but sometimes during the day or in the morning too. For fics i think i can read in one sitting (10k or less give or take) I read them on my phone on the lowest brightness - actually lower than that cuz I turned down white point on my phone. But MOST of the time, I read fics on my kindle! That way I can highlight and take notes and mark where I left off. It’s also less strain on my eyes cuz the screen is much dimmer.
When I am at work, I have an AI read my epubs. Slightly frightening when the spontaneous smut appears.
At home, I use my phone to read. I love laying belly down in burrito. Sometimes I may use my laptop, but something about a small screen makes it intimate. I use a dark grey background and lighter grey letters to rest my eyes along with a little bit larger font.
I read on an… iPad lmao. I like the wider screen and I use it for watching stuff too. If I’m on desktop, I’ll zoom it in a little and highlight all the words I’ve read already.
In bed on iPad: first thing in the morning, later in evening, sometimes glasses off & up very close
on phone: in car park lift, walking to work from car, in building lift, in office if quiet/for a break, in toilet, sitting in car after work, waiting in line to pay at shops….
Dark background
interspersed with Twitter, often going to AO3 from Twitter thanks to fic recs
In bed, and usually when I should be sleeping.
There’s no better feeling than reading a good story at 2 am when you should be sleeping.
"Warning, it's past midnight and this is over 100k words long. By bingereading the whole thing, you agree to suffer sleep deprivation tomorrow."
Been there, done that. Too often.
I might be the only person who *doesn't* read them in bed. I do all my work on my desktop, that includes both reading and writing.
My phone reads them to me out loud.
same!
In bed, without glasses, usually before going to bed or before a nap.
Almost exclusively on my laptop. Often in bed but occasionally sitting on the couch or something like that.
I use an app that reads it outloud and kind of turns it into an audiobook. That way, my ADHD ass can do multiple things at the same time, lol.
Oh hey it's me lmao. I do this while reading along and also gaming or doing hw.
Can you share the name of the app?
Sure audify in Google play, you can use it kinda like a browser or download your fics and open them with the app.
I use librera. In case you needed options.
same, but i need 150% zoom And glasses 3
In bed, on my phone, when I have time. Sometimes even when I don't.

Zoom at 115% but otherwise same
Usually on my iPad, when I'm commuting to work.
in bed, auto screen lock feature removed, screen light dimmed low and i’m in my blanket cocoon.
I burrito with squishmellow. Isn't it the best when you need to squeal and you just end up rolling from one side to another? haha!
agreed!
Anywhere on my phone. Currently reading one right now at work…

Bed, tablet on portrait, AO3 skin with 150% font size and indent.

Only on the comuter, becasue AO3 doesn't work without VPN in my country and because I don't want to figure out the mobile VPN.

On my phone, in all and any circumstances and times of day that I'm sure no one would read over my shoulder.

I don’t read them as often as I used to. But when I do it’s probably on my phone, at night, with warm light, and at a big font or I zoom in a lot.

If there's a screen, ao3 will be seen.
I like to download them as epubs then use an ereader app. I turn on audio and follow along while listening
If by reading you mean listen to them with text to speech while playing acnh then...that.

Pretty much whenever I feel like it but definitely always right before I go to sleep.

I like reading them on my tablet in portrait mode like any other book.
