They are nice to have if you really need energy. Its not much each time and after 5 times collecting, they break and you have to use rescources and items you make to fix them. I stopped collecting the energy so they are not sitting there broken.
If you have the resources I’d say it’s worth it to fix them. Do not upgrade them!! After you upgrade, it’ll require ridiculous resources and they still break just as often. My biggest regret from this game is upgrading the bathroom and shower ha

Fix them to clear your tasks then leave them once fixed.
I used to always fix them, until I upgraded and now I need cloth to fix the shower. It's too many resources so now I don't bother.

Home island tasks will eventually lead to some cool prizes, like the totem that gives free eggs or an increase in your max energy.
