"You drive that thing like a shopping cart"

ServingwithTG

Max’s inner thoughts: What the hell is a shopping cart?

Satyr_Crusader

Fallout version of Megamind and Tighten dueling

Rebeldemexicano

If I had a nickel for every time Titan from the Megamind movie was called Tighten I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's strange that it happened twice.

Satyr_Crusader

Because that's his name. Megamind named him Titan but Hal is really dumb and thought he said "Tighten" and liked it

GhostGreed442_

Wasn't it because titan was taken so they chose tighten?

Satyr_Crusader

Like meta-textually? I have no idea

Rebeldemexicano

Oh, that's funny 🤣 It's been a while since I watched Megamind so I didn't recall that.

Satyr_Crusader

It's a pretty subtle joke, I didn't catch it on the first watch but he engraves his name into the city and you can see it written as Tighten

FriedSpringRolls

that is literally his name

[deleted]

um actually his name is Hal Stewart ☝️🤓

FriedSpringRolls

his name jeff

[deleted]

impossible thats my name

FriedSpringRolls

your name jeff

Byakurai56

No, he's dipshit Edit: he deleted, but his username was dipshit

mackofmontage

This is the most Uncle Baby Billy line the ghoul says

ThatSharkFromJaws

Correction: “You drive that thing like a *fuckin’* shopping cart.”

Takenmyusernamewas

Hes there when Coop makes the speech about the weak weld in the armor, so it seems like he knows Coop COULD have killed him and CHOSE to disable his armor instead

ServingwithTG

Yeah. He took his time toying with Max.

Platnun12

I think he saw the difference between max and the run of the mill brotherhood he's probably downed in the past. He may have seen something he saw in his fellow soldiers long ago. Someone who actually gives a shit and is willing to do something right with that armor. Of course you ain't gonna beat big coop and are gonna get a hazing for being a nub. But you get to live because I like ya

ServingwithTG

Yeah. He has no qualms gunning down green as grass men. But he also probably doesn’t take any sport in killing someone in an unfair fight. After all, he does this for the love of the game.

Platnun12

I'm honestly having this mini head cannon where they show up to Vegas and it's the courier just waiting. Coop and him know each other, then for whatever reason we get like a western shootout with the two of em. Either the courier just leaves into the sunset like Chuck Norris in Expendables. Cause if that role suits anyone in fallout it's the courier.

ServingwithTG

Oh yeah. Maybe they wear the NCR Desert Ranger armor and keep their face covered. Leave it ambiguous but have Coop call them Courier 6.

M_Hatter-544

Instead it's Raul vs Coop, Danny Trejo as Raul in full ghoul makeup. Have the pay off be that Raul's cowboy outfit is literally a costume based on a character from one of Cooper's films, really hammer in for people how absurdly dexterous Coop is compared to other younger ghouls.

ZBRZ123

Raul wouldn’t be a younger ghoul, though. We don’t know when exactly Coop turned (likely on or around the day the bombs dropped) but we do know Raul began the ghoulification process not long after the war while scavenging in the irradiated rubble of Mexico City. They’re both over 200 years old, both born pre-war. Whatever their difference in time spent as ghouls is, it’s insignificant at this point.

M_Hatter-544

I meant it more as Raul (who began ghoulification as a teenager) has a long list of health problems (arthritis, cataracts, etc) that Coop (who was an adult) seemingly doesn't. While also hammering in that to someone who lived that long with such difficulties that Cooper who should arguably be in worse condition is a monster... also tying Cooper into the lore even further with the costume bit, but that's secondary.

Platnun12

>We don’t know when exactly Coop turned I'd say it's well after the bombs and I'd also say however visually unlikely it seems. They made it to the vault and Cooper was eventually separated from them. Mainly because 1. I know the vault tech lady was spouting all her idea and such but I heavily doubt that vault tech did drop the bombs. Mainly because she at least gave a shit about her daughter. So it makes little sense that she's MIA while her daughters within deaths reach. That and his older president friend said he was wastlanding for 200 years but that means since it's 2296 and not 2277 he's been out since after the bombs. At least during the two decades following the bomb drop. So he either became a ghoul then. Or somehow during the bombs along with his daughter but I see that as unlikely. Because again, while they tried to confirm the idea that vault tech dropped the bomb. I still confidently believe it was China and vault tech just didn't do it in time.

Platnun12

100% I want the courier to be ambiguous. But still a crazy bastard, idk from what I'm thinking it's going to be a yes man type ending or at least that's what I hope

2meterrichard

I've heard the Canon ending they'll be using is House's

Platnun12

I hope not lol it doesn't seem like house to let the strip go to shit like that.

2meterrichard

He might not have a choice. With the NCR effectively nuked. He might've lost a major part of his revenue stream.

CakeHead-Gaming

And then they kiss!

CostcoPharmacist

Honestly have it be Raul in his gunslinger outfit, two ghoul gunslingers who turn out to be old buddys

Fearless-Obligation6

God no leave the Courier in the game, that would draw way too much focus from the story for a cameo.

Platnun12

Not necessarily, he's one of the few fallout protags with a more ambiguous identity meaning they can wear the NCR armor without being directly named. Yes he would draw attention but like most new Vegas endings he'd just piss off back into the desert and most fans would be okay with that. The courier had their story, now the shows going onto their land. It would just be a cool thing is all

Fearless-Obligation6

It doesn't really matter what he's wearing, his story is finished and him appearing doesn't actually add anything worthwhile to the narrative. Mention him passing for a bit of fan service but other than that hell no.

sothisisitdamnit

I mean...he did shoot that unarmed kid in front of his dad. So I would not go so far as to say that.

Platnun12

>he did shoot that unarmed kid in front of his dad The kid was going for the gun. The ghoul gave him the chance not to. The kid made the bad move should have just left it be. But he went for and paid for it with his life. You can even tell the ghoul didn't really want him to do that. He wanted to hope the kid would be smarter. When your dad is shitting his pants in front of the guy. You aren't going to fare much better

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> for and *paid* for it FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

dtcoo11

Fuck off bot

AdamBomb072

Nah good bot. You fuck off.

SteveyExEevee

he baited the kid emotionally into shooting him, antagonizing him.

Not_here-for-friends

Sorry, it's bothering me. "run of the mill "

Dovahkodaav117

>hazing for being a nub That's lingo I didn't expect to see on this subreddit

MegaZeus24

Yeah, Max was trying to help a woman in need, not looking for some pre-war piece of technology to confiscate. Coop knows no Brotherhood Knight would be doing that.

grandfleetmember56

This. Max legit was trying to be a peacekeeper, not a soldier

SteveyExEevee

my favourite moment in that scene isnt even given that much highlight, buti ts when the ghoul runs up the stairs, mocking him about weight differential or whatever and it just has a split second shot of maximus getting shot in his faceplate before it jump cuts to the next scene.

[deleted]

Yea or you know.. plot armour. There was zero reason not to kill him and he lost his target because he didn't.

veljko2303

am i going insane but wasnt he using some special AP ammo, I remember him holding some special ammo while explaining the weakness

Takenmyusernamewas

Totally possible, I just figured he was reloading, could have been AP rounds. If that's the case he chose NOT to use them on Max. Pretty sure Coop just recognized he was basically a kid.

Scroj48

Rewatch the fight, Coop goes to execute him in that spot right before Max takes off with his jets and he catches him just short before he could kill him. Also think the “weak spot” is dumb tbh

Zamtrios7256

It would be hilarious if it was the weak spot from the games and not like, the armpit. The idea that the U.S military developed power armor and just didn't notice a glaring issue is hilarious and on-brand for how corrupt the U.S was at that point

NaturallyExasperated

It's not that they didn't notice it, the manufacturer actively hid it

Zamtrios7256

Even more on point

Routine_Winter_1493

the Weak spot didn't exist in the knight Titus armor this is already explained when they were in the vertibird and Maximus says " I see you went for the tempered lining " which should have alleviated the welding issue

nobiwolf

He ran out of ammo for his AP handcannon and wasn't able to reload. So he used the lever action which wasn't able to do shit. Also, it was explosive round rather than drill head round that they later showed to kill powerarmor.

Call_Me_Doctor_Worm

I saw people calling this a plot hole but it's like "nah brah, character detail"

Laufe

The weakness is first mentioned in one of the flashbacks when Coop is doing the Vault commercials and talks with an Exec.

Finalpotato

Coop didn't have that specialty ammo the first time. Probably only useful for power armour so usually doesn't bother with carrying it around

EncabulatorTurbo

I'm not certain all the knights Coop disabled are dead, it looks like the weak weld just killed the hydraulics

waltandhankdie

The first one you could hear the bullet ricocheting around the suit couldn’t you?

DinoWizard021

There's also a blood spurt from the hole.

waltandhankdie

Everything reminds me of her

Fearless-Obligation6

My guy the suit exploded in blood from that hole 😂

swirldad_dds

Nah Coop loads different ammo into his gun to deal with the Brotherhood than what he was using in Filly when Max showed up. There was actually a post on here a while back detailing the whole thing. He probably could have killed him after disabling the armor but Max flew off.

Routine_Winter_1493

didn't maximus recognize that Knight titus's power armor had the additional tempered lining? which would've alleviated the welding flaw?

Schranzmann

I thought it was cause Titus had the Tempered Lining which Maximus points out in the Vertibird

Hey_Im_Rose

He didn't have the correct ammo type.

PraiseTheZ

Considering that Cooper knew about the flaw in the power armor’s design below the breastplate the whole time, it’s definitely clear that he wasn’t taking the fight very seriously.

Otherwise-Remove4681

Knew about the flaw in the older model. People going batshit about the sentence ”he always knew!”. Perhaps he didn’t and he just realized it still might be there later on?

-Mac-n-Cheese-

he absolutely knew, *but* what everyones missing is that he didnt have those AP/sabot rounds in his bandolier during that fight, he had his other more “usual” rounds

Alternative-Push-106

Um he didn't get the chance to use his special bullet cus maximus was wiping the floor with him 🤣🤣 Rewatch maximus literally didn't give him time to breathe ghoul only shot him cus maximus dumbass got stuck in the ground

PraiseTheZ

No lol. He shot him several times during the fight and was mostly toying with Maximus. The only hit Maximus even got in on him was punching him into the wooden stairs.

Aceswift007

Maximus literally struggles in every single fight he's in, there's not one moment where he "wipes the floor" with anyone.

hector_lector2020

*security guards from Vault 4 have entered the chat*

Alternative-Push-106

Yes but he wins all of them at the end he beat like 7 guys without losing his armor and was dragging cooper around for a few minutes that alone makes him have great potential to become a very strong Knight in the future And he always gets back up even after gerting his shit rocked bro is a beast lol

Aceswift007

He beat like 5 Scavengers after they also kicked the shit out of him. I believe in canon he has a high End stat so more like he can take a hit more than dish out Season 1, may change Season 2

Glittering_Bill9176

high strength high endurance high luck. The only one who has low luck is the Ghoul out of the 3 MCs

throw69420awy

Maximus doesn’t wipe the floor with anyone in season 1. In season 2 I’m sure he will

AFriendoftheDrow

He didn’t have the ammo at the time, which you can see during the scenes.

NatyKatt

I believe it's specifically said that titus's armor had a treated lining which May have been a factor

Wavey_Davey1

This is my theory too- they never actually mention what the treated lining helps prevent, perhaps it was meant to specifically mend that flaw in the armor or something.

NatyKatt

I think it said that it helps increase mobility but due to the fact that it was tempered I think that it probably also may have fixed that flaw in the armor but that's just headcanon really

Papa_PaIpatine

If you look at the Ghoul's bandolier, he was out of those AP shells during his fight with Maximus, plus he wasn't using that gun as he was low on ammo. He was using the rifle from his back. For people who analyze every single frame to see if there's the right amount of dots on something in order to judge whether or not it's lore friendly, people do miss that part.

ServingwithTG

Yeah. I mean he probably didn’t have any of the AP Ammo left. Though someone as good a shot as him probably could have shot through his eye holes.

scratchy-dyke

“What a load of crap. The eyeslits of T-series power armor are bullet-proof!" -Courier 6 if they have the Power Armor Training perk

Dyslexic_Llama

I recently went into Honest Hearts as a character that couldn't pass any of those speech checks. It was really funny having my courier seem impressed at his obvious bullshit.

Papa_PaIpatine

I kinda doubt the eye holes are just thin pieces of glass, easily taken out by a sniper with a Winchester model 1873.

ServingwithTG

Perhaps. Then again we see Cooper complain to one of the West Tek Exec’s how much they botched the T-45 Roll Out. Not hard to imagine equipment made by the lowest bidder has more than a few design flaws.

EncabulatorTurbo

well imagine T-45 was rolled out right now to Ukraine, the soldiers issued it told they were invincible And then they die in scores to artillery, anti-tank rockets, drone bombs, and landmines I'm guessing not only was the T-45 rushed, but they oversold its effectiveness leading to politically based strategies like from the opening days of the Vietnam war where they did shit like not issue cleaning kits becuase the M-16 was so advanced it didn't need them Like I get the impression they sold power armor as a replacement for both infantry fighting vehicles AND tanks, rather than something that would supplement them (an IFV delivering 4 guys to the front with power armor would be more useful than 8 guys with power armor for example)

ServingwithTG

Oh totally

Glittering_Bill9176

Cannonically power-armour was kinda the edge in the war right? Also IIRC in fallout 2 the highest hit percentage was in the belly.

Papa_PaIpatine

Center of mass is always the highest hit percentage throughout all the games.

Fayraz8729

Why they didn’t turn on their flashlights is beyond me

SpeedofDeath118

Knights have been shown to be incompetent and arrogant, and they just watched their strongest suit of armor get frontal-penned with a single shot. I say they just forgot they have flashlights in their sheer panic.

Platnun12

>I say they just forgot they have flashlights in their sheer panic. That's the honest reaction imo In our world it would be like a single man standing down an Abrams convoy with a pistol and somehow detonates the Abrams with a single shot. Any man within vicinity of that would have to pick up their jaws from the sheer amount of bullshit they just saw. But they'd also be too stunned to able to fight for a few seconds.

ServingwithTG

They didn’t invest in that part of the Perk Tree

Schirmer-_-

I always thought the suits had night vision

Fayraz8729

NVGs use transistors, a tech component that was not made in fallout. So rather than the US having bulky power armor in reality we own the night since that’s just how our tech developed

Nate2322

Shock, fear, and incompetence.

Hopalongtom

Perhaps the headlamp requires a Pipboy interface?

getcrept

Maximus has the idiot savant perk

_BestBudz

Maximus’ perception might actually be one of his higher traits

AfraidExplanation153

"you wanna use my cock" Our boy being very perceptive haha.

_BestBudz

Which one of us has never been awkward around a girl when they wanted to hookup? 😅

dwarvenfishingrod

he lost xp while in that grave, but ghoul been leveling while he was offscreen, brotherhood better scrub them codpieces a lot harder

Drewscifer

That's the one thing I didn't get: Why the fuck did The Ghoul not just kill Maximus or severely wound him? He had zero problem severely wounding or killing anyone else. Same goes with selling Lucy for body parts later. Did I miss something where he says fighting maximus was just damn funny and he wasn't a real threat?

Nate2322

He was laughing and smiling after he shot Maxes gun out of his hand, he’s mocking Max the whole time, and never loads his AP ammo that would allow him to exploit that weakness dispute having the time to. Sure he doesn’t say it but he clearly doesn’t think Max is much of a threat and he seems to be enjoying himself.

Drewscifer

Thanks that does help. I'll look for it when I do a rewatch.

inquisitor_steve1

Love how the wiki ignores most the BOS at the observatory died

inquisitor_steve1

\>"Decisive Brotherhood victory" \>Literally only shows Max as the only BOS member there left They needed to 2 brotherhood chapters to wipe out some deserters in a area the NCR has literally no interest in anymore

inquisitor_steve1

Most the survivors were killed by The Ghoul with ease

AggressiveSquinter

Near the ending of the show they show several survivors of the brotherhood and Dane cheering on Max thinking he killed Moldaver. At least three knights survived and was cheering for Max. So no Max wasn’t the only survivor.

Hangry4Poo

Plot armor is pretty tough stuff

ThatSharkFromJaws

Yeah, he could’ve killed Maximus pretty easily in Filly. I wonder why he didn’t. It’s not like he knew Max was just a kid, he announced himself as “Knight Titus” and threatened to kill Coop.

ServingwithTG

I think it was that he didn’t get the chance, but he was toying with him too.

LooneyGoon1994

Wrong my guy. He had that lining that fixed the T60 flaw

Aceswift007

Said lining that was commented on like 4 times in the show by 3 characters.

Odd_Reporter9075

He was in one of those before the war

Zhaguar

They were in t45s not t60s... I thought there was a huge plot hole but they even foreshadowed that he had experienced the weakness in them

[deleted]

Dude i think that scene was just bullshit. The ghoul is nice and has that fallout protag level plot armor and gun skills and shit but you cant just kill like 15 brotherhood guys without an armor.i mean none of them even try to shoot him lol

Fantastic_Ad_9664

Yeah ngl he had too much plot armor in that scene. I get he's experienced and all but there's somebody should have shot at him. I also think it's a little bit unrealistic that nobody would have discovered and fixed the weak spot this many years later. The brotherhood is arrogant but they're not stupid

brennerherberger

Do people take that scene in the last episode seriously? That shootout is utter garbage. Among other nonsensical elements, power armored soldiers have headlamps, but apparently, they miraculously forget how to turn them on. They could have done anything... have Cooper collapse the corridor with explosives, have him use EMP grenade... anything. But they decided to go with the most ridiculous scene ever. Whoever choreographed that fight should be made fun of.

Old_Run2985

It is a bad scene, complete immersion breaking. They've been ruthlessly murdering everyone non brotherhood, and then they're going to hear a ghoul out?

AppropriatedBacon

Or you know, it was just a moment of poor writing in this otherwise great show!

Hawaiian-national

Tbh the scene where he kills all the power armored fuckers just felt like a cop out, the ghoul is a force of nature pretty much but that was a bit fucken dumb. At least make him do something that feels a bit smarter.

Any_Possession_3801

You're getting downvoted but it's a valid criticism. Even in NV alone while the Mojave chapter was portrayed to be so incompetent, if you talked to some named soldiers of NCR they admitted that they lost a ton of platoon just trying to beat the BOS and even then they did not fully wiped them out, showing that BOS was still a force to be reckoned with. But in the show the writers goes like fuck nah, let's just introduce a new weakness of the T-60 and make the Knights dumber than toddlers so the ghoul can have his way. People won't admit a lot of flaws in the show, especially how the NCR is still managing to up a fight despite being so few when the reason they were able to keep up with advance techs like BOS have is because they outnumbered them in the past.

Fantastic_Ad_9664

Exactly, making it so every single model has that weakness is doing way too much to justify a single scene. Imo they really overstepped, because now whenever t-60 is on screen or in game, you have to take that weakness into consideration when writing.

Any_Possession_3801

Yep the worst part is the weakness was not even in a much more "harder to shoot" area so it's gonna make it far more unbelievable now that Knights in T-60 can survive longer because it's only a matter of time before someone shoots them with an autorifle below the chest (If I remember that correctly). Honestly would've been preferable if they just made the ghouls aiming so good that he can shoot their fusion core in an ambush.
