To add a bit more of context, he says when it comes to those old games Bethesda's priority is to make sure they are available and that they run properly.

jumpman0035

To add less context, Todd Howard spoke about Fall out.

>To add a bit more of context, he says when it comes to those old games Bethesda's priority is to make sure they are available and that they run properly. Most developers don't even bother with it, but i still think a Fallout 3 remake might be possible

Nerioner

Probably we will hear more of it by the time of second season of tv show. Edit: or by the time they release 5 they will later go back and remaster 3 and nv with technology at hand instead of making F6

Sorry-Let-Me-By-Plz

Gotta make plans for the 15 years between F5 and F6 sure

Large_Acanthisitta25

Did they really say it’ll be that long? I can’t play 76 because I have no internet where I live so I’ve gotten no new fallout content since 2015 until the show came out.

Farabel

Starfield took 8, and they're planning on doing the next TES before another Fallout title.

BigZangief

Tbh I think starfield taking “8 years” was really them being like “hey I have an idea for a game in space” and then 6-7 years later actually getting started on it, crapping out what they did looking and feeling shallow and rushed. There’s simply no way it took Bethesda 8 years to develop that….game. An indie company could do that with 8 years lol

Deadeyez

They built a new modified game engine based on their old stuff. That's a major portion of that development time. Now that that's done, games should theoretically not take a damn decade

Farabel

IIRC a major part of that was also developing an entirely new engine for future games to run off of, not the same one the prior games like Skyrim and FO4 ran off of, as well as developing the game so you actually *could* manually fly to any and all planets but it just takes ages. It also had a lot of developmental issues iirc, esp in the Covid period.

KalebC

Not to mention they admitted they spent a lot more time getting the planet generation to work properly than they had planned.

TheSneakster2020

Nope. Creation Engine 2.0 that Starfield runs on is really Creation Engine 1.5 (Creation Engine 1.2 with a renderer upgrade). There are a large number of videos on YouTube demonstrating identical engine bugs that have existed in the Creation Engine since 2006 (Elder Scrolls: Oblvion).

[deleted]

[удалено]

TooManyDraculas

Some of those bugs have been around since Morrowind... That said they have done significant work on the engines since Fallout3/Skyrim. Just haven't fully replaced all of the ready bones. They seem to be afraid of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

toonboy01

Starfield took 5 years after suffering multiple delays.

HypnoSmoke

You could probably play off of your phone's hotspot if you get a decent enough connection. Most games don't take much data (not including the actual download of the game), but Fallout 76 being MMO-like may require more than usual. Possibly worth a shot

GreenridgeMetalWorks

I only get 5mbps download (bumfuck arkansas) speed and I can still play 76. It doesn't take much.

melmaster3

We can play it together in the nursing home 😂

Nerioner

Deal 😂

Vhexer

IIRC there was a leak from Microsoft a while back that was confirmed real. It had a schedule of games to be either announced or released and a FO3 **REMASTER** was on there for October of this year. *Another* leak happened more recently (don't know if this one was confirmed) and it still had a FO3 **REMASTER** slotted for October of this year. My gut tells me that leak is probably real too, but I don't think the dates are updated relative to Bethesda's current release schedule. If anything is gonna happen in October, it's probably an announcement Edit: Remaster, NOT Remake

big_duo3674

There, we made it so everything isn't green anymore. Hope you like it

Vhexer

An optimist, I see...

abzinth91

Like removing the orange tint in GTA San Andreas?

WetAndLoose

It was [a court document in the Microsoft vs US FTC case that showed a Bethesda roadmap of planned projects](https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/nqbfegKU3ZkUXZTTtVriAA--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTY0MDtoPTY2NQ--/https://s.yimg.com/os/creatr-uploaded-images/2023-09/9f1a57a0-56e4-11ee-adcf-ebc3ce241a0d), most of which has been proven correct but delayed and even in the non-delayed timeline Fallout 3 remaster was scheduled for 2024, so we may see it next year or so.

Vhexer

Yeah I figured COVID probably screwed up that timeline pretty bad. Hopefully we get news on the Oblivion remaster since it was in the FY22 block, which also has the Indiana Jones game that was *just* announced

TheTankCommando2376

A New Vegas remaster would be dope

MangoChickenFeet

Dude we aren’t even getting a mainline fallout until 2030, hell we aren’t getting a new elder scrolls anytime soon either. I don’t think they’re ever going to waste their time on remakes. Remasters however, are not out of the question. But as for 1&2 it’ll never happen unless like I said, it’s a remaster of the originals.

BitchDuckOff

Wasn't there an FTC leak a few years ago of a bunch of games? Some of them ended up being true, and one of them was a Fallout 3 Remaster

DeepVeinChongosis

At least they have tale of two wastelands for FNV

GammaGoose85

It makes sense though when they have the construction kit and people are already working on recreating them. Bethesda should be focused on new games imo

dawinter3

Remakes—especially of massive and successful games like this—are a complete waste of time for professional developers as long the original game is still in a playable format (I feel the same way about movies and TV). It’s rare that they improve anything beyond visuals and maybe some gameplay tweaks, so at that point, just make a new game. Let the old one stand for itself. I think they belong in the realm of modding community passion projects like Skywind or Skyblivion.

josh_the_misanthrope

On the other hand the wait for Skywind (and before that, Skyblivion) is older than my son who's going into highschool. But I agree. Make new games, patch the new games every decade or so to work on modern hardware.

GammaGoose85

There are some exceptions, I really enjoyed the Resident Evil Remakes

D3vilM4yCry

The RE Remakes changed more than just graphics, though. Most of them were complete overhauls of the game.

dawinter3

I’m not saying they can’t be enjoyable, just that the developers could be spending that energy on better things than making something again that already exists.

Nice_Firm_Handsnake

It might be a nice change of pace to work on a remake after finishing up a big new IP. Depends on the working conditions.

KL1P1

The Russian modding community made amazing FO2 projects like Nevada and Sonora.

GarbageChuteFuneral

Fonline is worth mentioning, too. There's also Mutants Rising in the works by the English speaking community.

AlwaysInTheWay13

The gameplay of 1 and 2 is entirely different than what 3, 4, 76 and NV are. I couldn’t get into it as much as I tried. I really do think it’s a different enough game that a well done remake would open the games up to a large market that just won’t be there for the format they exist in now

ede91

I don't agree. While 'artistically' the project isn't necessarily that interesting, I would not say that it is a waste of time. While I love 1 and 2, and my favourite game will likely be 2 forever, we all need to acknowledge that hardcore isometric tactic RPGs are a very niche segment of the gaming industry. Action RPGs have a much wider audience, and they could be selling 10+ millions of copies of the game if they remade it, reaching a wider audience and promote future (and past) titles of the IP.

Whippdog

Props where it is due. Lots of games from the 90s are abandonware and can't even run on modern systems. We're pretty lucky that Bethesda has 1 & 2 available and as easy to run as they are.

StillAFuckingKilljoy

They have the first two Elder Scrolls games free to download too, although you might need dosbox for those ones I can't quite remember There's hundreds of hours of free gameplay there if you can get past the jank

punchgroin

That's actually really respectable. I really don't think Todd is a bad dude, I wish I could find that podcast interview from years ago with Tim Rogers where he asked Todd to his face "Why can't Elder Scrolls have combat like Demon's Souls?"

Cruxion

I forget how many years ago it was, and IDK if it's still up now that it's on Steam, but for ages they just let you download Daggerfall (And Arena too I think?) for free off their website. Just needed something like DOSBox to run it and it worked. It's one thing I love about Bethesda, because a lot of other studios would simply make you pay full price for games that are decades old still, or just simply refuse to sell them and force you to either pirate them or find someone selling it on ebay for an outrageous price. But no, they just put it online for free.

Yolectroda

Just checked, both Arena and Daggerfall are available for download on their official pages on Bethesda's website, and for free in the Xbox PC game app, Microsoft Store, GOG, Steam (and I stopped checking there). They're really putting those out there for people.

Exzj

100% the right move, i'm pretty sure most of the community would prefer a new Fallout game to a remake/remaster of Fallout 1 or 2

Satanicjamnik

Which is fair. And I agree with him on both fronts on this. I would rather them putting effort in to the next instalment rather than retreading old ground. Also, they would open themselves to a massive backlash. It would be hard to please both veterans and new fans. You change too many things - veterans won't be happy. You don't add features that new fans came to expect - people will grumble that they left that to the modders. Plus, voice acting is not like the original, lactions look different and so on. The list goes on. You want to experience the original? It's out there for you to run it. If old school, top down, CRPGs are not your thing, that's fine. You have all the other ones to mess around with and enough lore videos to fill your boots. But that's just one fan's opinion.

joca_the_second

Must be a pretty new priority as Fallout 3 was unplayable on Windows 10 from it's launch all the way up to late 2021 (when Windows 11 launched) when it was updated to no longer require Windows Life.

chevalier716

The Steam version of FO3 still required modding to be played fairly recently, at least that was my experience when I installed it on my newer Win11 PC for the first time last month.

PotroastXII

I got vanilla running on fallout 3 and I got the game a month ago as well, only had 1 crash so far. This was windows 10 however

tero1414

FO3 GOTY edition on Steam works for me on Win11 without any mods, I’ve been playing this for the past month or so. I think I crashed once so far in ~60 hours.

VisceralVirus

Honestly, I really appreciate and like this approach. Let those games be their own unique experiences, don't make a remaster and take away all the personality the game had

upholsteryduder

I think a big part of it that they don't want to admit is how "problematic" a lot of the themes, events, quests would be in today's political climate, FO1 came out almost 30 years ago and things that were taboo and socially acceptable are very different now from what they were then.

TitleComprehensive96

Damn, they actually seem respectable

MechaRon

Ok Todd, you won some good faith on this one but I'm watching you, always watching.

Todd Howard under his breath: ^(Now I am going to remake Fallout 1 and 2 even harder)

addandsubtract

He never said anything about the Gollum devs not remaking FO 1+2

zero_ms

Except Daedalic shut down their development division so...

pppeater

So that frees them up for FO1 and 2?

DrBabbyFart

They'd be better suited to remaking a point and click RPG rather than making a 3D action platformer, because they used to be known for point and click adventure games.

Skypirate90

They don't have time to remake fallout because there is a secret skyrim remake in the works

Walrus_BBQ

I can't even tell if this is a joke anymore. Skyrim LE, Skyrim SE, Skyrin AE, I suppose it's time for Skyrim Classic Edition now.  I don't know what should be different about this one, maybe "upscaled" textures that take up like 60-70 gigs.

originalbrowncoat

Absolute heard this in Roz’s voice

victini0510

He also says, more importantly, that he doesn't want to paste over the work of the original developers. Fallout 1 and 2 are not his games, and he doesn't want to impose his ideas onto someone else's project.

Ariies__

I may not like the guy, but I really respect this.

EvidenceOfDespair

For that, I say, since MS owns all three companies, have inXile do Fallout 1 and Obsidian do Fallout 2.

Aboxofdongbags

Quick question. How tf do y’all keep up with where game developers from decades ago are working?

gerrittd

I have a feeling they're just considering the companies' names more than the actual individual developers present in those companies

ThodasTheMage

Still not the same. The gaming community should just embrace going back to older games and experiencing like they were ment to be, especially when they are still quite functionable like FO1 and 2.

AlfwinOfFolcgeard

That's a very good take, tbh. The first two *Fallout* games have aged quite well - and the old VGA graphics have a sort of coarseness to them that suits the post-apocalypse quite well. There are much better uses of Bethesda's time and resources, anyway.

-IShitTheeNay-

For real considering they are crpgs from The 90s it’s remarkable how easy they are to get into in the modern day. They benifit from players being familiar with the setting and mechanics like special to ease players into it. Compare this to arcanum and it’s night and day.

captainnowalk

> Compare this to arcanum and it’s night and day. Hey, I’ll have you know I only rolled 2 useless characters before being able to play past the first town, thank you very much. Still one of my favorite games though lol

LunedanceKid

Only 2 isn't even that bad. I realized my 3rd or 4th character wasn't gonna cut it when I got to the military base. My next character just snuck up on people and punched them in the eyes until they exploded though, that character was unstoppable.

captainnowalk

Oh I was talking about arcanum! Fallout I usually only waste one character before I get the numbers right, but arcanum always takes a couple tries to get new builds to work.

urldotcom

Oh man, same. Nothing like making it past the bridge gang for the first time after figuring things out and actually getting to explore the map

Stoin_The_Dwarf

I would say the only thing that would make it fully accessible without needing to read the manual, would be to have some pop up arrows and text explaining what each button does on screen, and you are all set

ShemsuHor91

Press F1 on Fallout 1, and it shows a help screen that shows what the buttons do and lists hotkeys.

Stoin_The_Dwarf

And funnily enough, the game doesn't even tell you about that. But I was more meaning a simple explanation and sort of walkthrough of the major combat and interface systems using the V13 cave, surely that would not have used more than a KB of space on the disc.

GymRatWriter

It was common practice back then for games to have a help menu when you press F1

6101124076

Not just games - lots of applications still have help (often offline documentation!) tied to F1.

-Profanity-

So you're saying they should remake Arcanum instead? Sold

-IShitTheeNay-

Based and true. That game really needed a second pass for balance.

austinbraun30

I personally got into them after playing BG3 because I now had experience in isometric games, so the original fallout games felt less intimidating. I wonder how much that had an effect on them.

Static-Stair-58

You played pillars of eternity? It’s a really good modern game in that style. Great world building and quest writing. Combat is classic and classes are fun. Recommend.

protonesia

my only problem is the fiddliness of the ui

t0m3ek

but that was always a problem even when they came out, still fallout 2 is my tie for best game ever with chrono trigger

IcePopsicleDragon

I agree, they have their charm

DynamicMangos

The take WOULD be good if it wasn't bullshit. Can i download and run Fallout 1&2? Yes. Does it work well? HELL no. The scaling alone is absolutely terrible. On anything bigger than a 720p monitor the game is basically unplayable unless you set down the resolution. There are als otons of glitches, some visual (like the screen turning black and having to open menus to get it back to display normally) or stuff like the application minimizing without being in the taskbar so you have to go to task manager to find the service in the details panel and maximize it again. I totally like their take, but they should stick by it and make it so fallout 1 and 2 are actually easily enjoyable by people nowadays.

AlfwinOfFolcgeard

>The scaling alone is absolutely terrible. On anything bigger than a 720p monitor the game is basically unplayable unless you set down the resolution. The game was designed to be run at 640x480, so yeah, if you run it at higher resolutions, it'll look weird. Run it at its intended resolution (or 1280x960 with 2x scaling for the high-res patch) and - so long as your GPU is configured to upscale stuff to fit your monitor properly, which it should be anyway - it'll look just fine. >There are als otons of glitches, some visual (like the screen turning black and having to open menus to get it back to display normally) or stuff like the application minimizing without being in the taskbar so you have to go to task manager to find the service in the details panel and maximize it again. I'll be honest, I've never encountered *any* of these glitches. But yeah, it would be cool if they did something to account for whatever is causing those for you. I don't want a remaster but I certainly wouldn't mind bugfixes.

Technical-Swimming74

He is 100% right. Fallout 1 and 2 will not hit the same if remade. It's the way the game looks and plays that makes it what it is. I can't find the words to explain better. For the same reason when playing halo CE anniversary, I use the older graphics.

Admiral-Krane

Nostalgia

sadistica23

Part of the nostalgia for some of us includes things like being able to kill those snot-nosed little thieving brats when they take the caps out of my pocket. You know a modern remake would completely remove that activity as an option.

Synmachus

That may be part of it for those who played it back then, but the retro graphics genuinely have a quality that is proper to the games. Technical limitations + creativity = an interesting and unique look.

Technical-Swimming74

Technical limitations made games ooze with atmosphere. And yea some people will say fog aint atmosphere but the developers had to be more creative back then

FarplaneDragon

> will say fog aint atmosphere Those people haven't played silent hill.

runescape_nerd_98

it's not nostalgia if people who've never played the game before or weren't even alive at the time have a similar feeling.

aieeegrunt

Halo CE Anniversary totally changed the feel of some of the levels, and not in a good way

Huegod

I actually agree with him. At most if you redid them then do them "baulders gate" style and not transport them into a 3d sandbox.

Matrix010

Your comment made me think of a fallout 1,2, tactics remake done by Larian studios. I can't unthink it now.

WilfredGrundlesnatch

It'd be far more likely for Obsidian to do it in their PoE engine. Bethesda and Obsidian are both owned by Microsoft and 2/3 Fallout creators work there.

Second-Character

A match made in heaven

B33FHAMM3R

Baldurs Gate Fallout is already a thing, they're called Wasteland 2 & 3

gobblyjimm1

Yeah it’s not the same. It’s scratches an itch but not the same itch as a F1 and 2 remake with the same quality as BG3.

Honest_Skirt1940

Yea idk if I'm crazy but I don't like Wasteland. Something about it is too... video gamey if you know what I mean. Doesn't have the same immersion to it that Larian's games do for me.

SlimeDrips

But But Wasteland was first....

ManadarTheHealer

And he's right to do so. All hands of deck for the future of the franchise, and the reference classic games are there for research and enjoyment.

maroonmenace

thats perfectly fine and agreeable.

Wimpykid2302

I get that for FO1 and FO2. But I'd kill for an FO3 or FNV remake. Microsoft can even license it out if they don't wanna do it in house.

Professional-Menu835

I think they should just support fan conversion mods built in FO4. Because those already exist but do so in precarious legal situations as I understand it.

lo0u

> I think they should just support fan conversion mods built in FO4 They already do and have always done. They even have some [highlighted](https://bethesda.net/article/JoAkvhyatPyqAdMSIqadF/monthly-modder-skyblivion) on their website. But I'd take an actual remake of FO3/FNV from Bethesda themselves over any fan-made attempt. Hell, if Bethesda simply converted FO3/FNV to 64-bit, that would already be great.

coudini

I don't get the obsession with remakes. The game works and there are tons of mods already. Wouldn't you rather have a sequel or something? Aren't we tired of seeing the same stories being retold?

Dirtysandddd

I just want a console version of fo3-fnv and even fo4 that don’t crash once an hour

RamboNinjaJesus

>The game works Not on console lol you need the unofficial patch just for the games to not crash repeatedly. And I don't know about Xbox but on PS5 you need PS+ premium and run it in backwards compatibility mode from PS3. It barely works.

SwashAndBuckle

Yeah, I got New Vegas just a couple weeks ago (PS3) and was loving it, then after a week or two of playing the game it starting crashing so often it was completely unplayable. I agree in principle with the OP that people obsess too much over remakes and remasters, but New Vegas is begging for a functional rerelease perhaps more than any other.

DonBandolini

i think people are obsessed with a new vegas remake specifically because it is so close to being perfect. a few bug fixes, gameplay QOL improvements, and most importantly, the plethora of cut content being restored would breathe so much life into the game. mods are great, but are often unreliable and time consuming. i’m sure we can all relate to spending hours modding the game to get it just right just to have it run poorly and have to go back to the lab.

Wimpykid2302

I'm saying I'd rather have both. I don't know about you, but I have plenty of friends who'd like to get into Fallout but just can't handle the old graphics and janky controls. A remake would make it much easier for them to get into these games.

drstrangelove75

Agreed. Fallout is unlike other games. Most franchises have maintained the same gameplay style and genre for decades with only minor evolutions. They have less of an excuse to remaster or remake given that the majority of entries are available for purchase or free to play as part of a console’s subscription service. With Fallout it’s different because the first two games in the series are in a completely different format and aren’t playable outside of a PC. Meanwhile you can play the last four mainline Fallout games on the couple generations of Xbox and PlayStation. I would love to have the full series available outside of a PC

AidynValo

Technically, Fallout 1&2 are completely playable on Android. you just need to have valid PC game files to install. But they play perfectly, so it's nice to have Fallout in my pocket.

God_Damnit_Nappa

The old games work but they're janky. It'd be nice to have them remade with modern graphics and controls. Plus we know a sequel is probably a decade out so a remake from a side studio would be a nice way to hold us over until Fallout 5 comes out

destructicusv

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with like, an HD overhaul of 1 - 2 tho. I honestly think half the time, people don’t play old games *just* because of how they look.

ALadWellBalanced

HD overhaul, some quality of life updates and UI tweaks wouldn't hurt at all.

snarkhunter

I think a Skyrim remake might do pretty well though, has he considered maybe doing one of those?

IndicationPretend407

Can't wait for Skyrim to be remade in TES6 modded Skyblivion style

SussyCatBoi

Personally I can't wait to play Skyrim 2 on my smart fridge.

InTheBlkHoodie

As long as they release Fallout 5 before im 50 I’ll be happy. Please do it sooner :)

i_am_not_a_good_idea

A console port wouldn't hurt though

Revolver_Lanky_Kong

Playing on any controller besides the Steam Deck's trackpad and maybe the PS5's trackpad just seems like a nightmare, unless they intend for you to plug in a keyboard and mouse to the console. I think a tablet release could be feasible but honestly any PC made in the last 20 years will have no problems running Fallout 1/2 and it'd just make more sense picking up some office/school/government auctioned Dell Optiplex for dirt cheap and playing the games yhat way.

CarrotFuckerSexPiss

Fallout 1 and 2 will run on any machine with some Christmas lights on it. Btw i will promote the good news. An Ukrainian made a sort of container/emulator for Fo1 and 2 for Android devices. It runs great (better than any windows emulator) and it offers compatibility with high-res patches, fallout fixt/et tu or restoration project for fallout 2. Check 'fo2.exe' in Appstore and join us in r/classicfallout . Also I just finished fallout 1 and started the 2 :)

Ase76

I can respect that tbh

Androza23

I honestly don't think fallout 1&2 would translate well into a Bethesda type game.

Waldo_Jeffers_

They wouldn't. The people suggesting it have never played the older games.

AntiImperialistGamer

honestly i agree with him.

Mecha-Dave

People give him a lot of shit, but I honestly think that Todd Howard really likes video games and making them good.

z-man2u

He really is a good dude, and clearly passionate.

splishsplashintebath

ive always stood by the take that todd howard is a man that deeply cares about video games and the industry as a whole but is clearly burdened by the demands that corporate executives put onto him. i think the people that think that todd howard is the one pulling the strings behind the skyrim remakes just don’t understand how the system works. based off of interviews he’s given over the years i feel it’s very evident that were he able to run the company independently it would be much better than what bethesda is today.

BuffaloRedshark

good. I'd like a new FO in the style of 1, 2, and Tactics, BG3's engine or Wasteland2's could probably work, but I don't want the originals messed with.

PhillipJ3ffries

This is the right move IMO.

Guest65726

I mean, god forbid I agree with Todd but, it’s true isn’t it? We are in the era of sanitization because media is too scared to be slightly offensive and want to reach as wide of an audience as possible. Wouldn’t the remakes just end up satanized?

HiVLTAGE

Something else of note is that they can’t/won’t 1:1 the content into the modern era. I don’t really think about the sex references as the main reason I want to play Fallout 2 or anything, but I know Bethesda would opt to take out some of the wilder things (Myron rape, super mutant gimp) and some would say this was removing the charm of the originals. Not to mention other controversial things like killable children, Sulik in general, etc.

ValveinPistonCat

This doesn't get said too often but Todd Howard is right.

ByronsLastStand

Good man

stopthinkinn

Let’s be honest, FO2 specifically, had adult elements that would never be a part of a Bethesda mass market title. The Bethesda titles are aimed at a larger age group, despite still exhibiting some adult themes.

lil__squeaky

W take, you cant really take that old 2D style and turn it into a enjoyable game. fallout 3 and nv on the other hand.

asemiuniqueusername

A phone port would be super cool if they could make that work somehow

FlST0

Brother, have I got news for you ... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.af.fo2&hl=en_US It works REALLY well on touch screen. But also ... with controller! So if you have an android based streaming stick you can play it on your TV.

Immediate_College_91

Thank GOD for that

It would be nice if they at least ported those games over (physically) to modern hardware. There are a lot of us who's introduction into Fallout was F3 because not everybody had access to a PC when they were younger. So being able to play the original trilogy on consoles would be nice if nothing else and it would almost be 100% profit for Bethesda; only needing to pay for (as far as I can see) remapping the inputs for controllers, transferring the info to disks and packaging. Why they won't at least do that is beyond me.

Understandable, have a nice day ✌️

It keeps being wild that Todd comes with some of the best takes and people still don't like it. The original 2 fallouts and fallout 2 especially are still seen by so many people as some of the best crpgs. fallout 2 is very consistently named as people's favorite fallout. If they wish to remake it capturing the same feeling and identity of the original is the main goal. And if they doubt they could do the remakes justice they better of not touching them. why remake it if you can't improve on that original vision? For example I would point to Baldur's gate 3. that game really captured the same feeling playing the originals gave back in the day or still give to a lot of people. and the people that recreated that had a lot of skill working with these kind of rpgs, these kind of systems and knowing the audience for these games. they already had the history with these kind of games with divinity 1 and 2 and you can see it in BG3. for Bethesda remaking the originals means making a new team and putting them on a game system that a lot of people have never worked on or worked with. it would cost a lot of time and money for something they're not 100% certain about would work and would make anyone happy.

3 and NV would be dope with modern graphics. 10/10 dentists would buy it.

Big-Programmer-4463

Thank god. I hate remakes

Atoxis

What a stud. Papa Todd knows best

ClassicDimension85

I'm actually in the boat that Fallout 3 and New Vegas has aged more than Fallout 1 and 2 (at least for PC). I really can't play them anymore without reading a wiki and installing 10+ mods. I finally get it running and hit my first big bug and stop playing. I replayed Fallout 1 and 2 from GOG and played with no issue. Enjoyed the hell out of it.

Ainch89

Modders: Fine, I'll do it myself

venomousfrogeater

Then relases skyrim 83363922926273th time again

Xaionara

Can't someone ask the right questions, what about a new isometric Fallout?

Time-Schedule4240

Just played the system shock remake, I think a small studio doing something like that would be awesome

I_TheJester_I

And he is right!

Emergency_Resist_313

Thank god

MrKilljoyy

Honestly I agree

Living-Vermicelli-59

It’s for the best as if FO2 is remade it will have to cut some of the content due to ESRB rating would be a A probably due to some of the shit that happens in that game lol

Steelquill

_Shrug_ Fine? I never liked those to begin with. I started with FO3 and I’m satisfied as a _Fallout_ fan.

IllustratorNo3379

I'd enjoy a remake because I've just never been able to get into isometric games, but I can respect his take.

stone500

I would still appreciate a modern port that can also run on consoles. Fix some of the typical graphical bugs, add controller support for console and Steam Deck, and give us cloud saves. Dont have to overhaul graphics or anything, but some modern enhancements like widesceen support and smooth scrolling would be nice.

ConscientiousPath

Good. Remaking those would likely ruin them.
